Buddy stood on a chair in the middle of the room. He was holding an electric lantern, "Hey folks, so sorry about this but we've talking to the city workers and a transformer was damaged. We might not have power back on until tomorrow. "

"Oh Richard," Emily whispered. "We need to do something."

"Just calm down," he comforted her. "I know my girl. Lorelai likely has a backup plan already in motion."

Buddy was still talking, "A big thank you to Sookie and Michel, they already rushed over to the Dragonfly. Everyone please make your way there, again Maisy and I are so sorry for this inconvenience."

Once everyone made their way to the Dragonfly they were amazed at how quickly Michel and the staff had decorated. It was just before sunset and everything had a soft glow, Michel had used a purple mauve and dusty rose as his colour scheme. There were small vases with flowers in those colours, there were twinkle lights wrapped around the railings of the porch. Inside Michel had fake candles with little waving flames so they looked realistic.

Emily was impressed with the Inn that her daughter planned from the ground up and now it was a reality. The place was charming and warm, it was elegant in its own way, she would be proud to host a DAR luncheon in their lovely dining room. As she took in the flowers and candles that were scattered around the room in what to an untrained eye would look randomly, Emily could tell the time and thought that was put into the decorating. She saw Michel with a clipboard walking quickly and whispering to different workers. As he was passing her she gently touched his arm.

"Michel, hello." She smiled, "I wanted to tell you that I think you have done a wonderful job tonight."

"Thank you Mrs. Gilmore," Michel smirked. He knew that a compliment from Emily Gilmore was not easy to come by. But he also knew she was likely to try to get information out of him. "Please excuse me, I have to check on a few things."

Before Emily could decide on following Michel or finding Richard she heard someone in the dining room tapping a fork to their glass.

Luke was standing in the centre of the room Lorelai smiling by his side. "Are you going to take this," he smiled pleadingly at her.

Smiling back at him she nodded and kissed his cheek, "I gotta embarrass you a little." She then turned to the crowd, "Thank you all so much for not only coming to this party to celebrate Luke and I but relocating. We know that all of you are eager for us to set a wedding date and at least one of you has bugged me about sending Save The Date cards. Now this might annoy my Mom by telling you all in person instead of the proper etiquette as Miss Manners would do, so Mom I hope you don't get too mad at me. See Luke and I are overwhelmed at how you all came today and how wonderful you all look. So we decided that we should just get married right now. If you would give me just a few minutes to get changed we'll have a nice ceremony and then you can all enjoy some of Sookie's fabulous food."

The room erupted into excited chatter, people asking others if they knew and then helping the staff set up the room facing the Chuppah that Luke and Jess brought it. Michel had the staff scurrying around passing out appetizers. Patty and Babette had jumped into action, helping the staff while encouraging others to help as well. It took less than half an hour before the dining room was set up with offset rows of seating on either side of an aisle with the Chuppah draped in white tulle and twinkle lights.

"Thanks for doing this," Luke said sincerely. "I know this is probably the last thing you want to be doing today."

Jess smiled, "I'm sure you could find something I want to do less."

Just then Liz and TJ joined them, "Hey Jess," TJ giggled. "You came to visit Luke, are you gonna come and see us on the road this Summer? One of our stops is near your poetry place."

Jess turned to Luke, "See? I thought it would take longer than that to find something."

Luke laughed and hugged his sister, "You two should go find some seats, I think we're starting any minute."

"Okay, okay Big Brother. I just wanted to give you that hug and let you know how happy I am for you!"

"Thanks Liz, I guess it is kind of cool that both of us are happy. Mom and Dad -" his voice caught on a lump that suddenly developed in his throat. He hugged Liz again and she whispered in his ear.

"They'd love her. And they'd be so proud of you."

After a final squeeze, Liz pulled away, grabbed TJ's hand and dragged him away from Jess. They found seats that Patty had saved for the family.

Richard and Emily had watched the town folks with awe. From what they could tell none of them knew that this party was turning onto a surprise wedding, yet they all jumped into action. The room transformed into a lovely setting that rivalled some of the most high end weddings they've attended.

"I suppose we should find seats," Emily sighed. She knew that she should be happy to even be invited to Lorelai's wedding. After years of a contentious relationship, and then the stunt she pulled at her vow renewal. But there was a part of her that was sad to not be included and treated as a random guest.

Before Richard had a chance to respond they both felt a soft hand on their shoulders, "Grandma? Grandpa?" Rory said softly to not startle them. "Could you come with me for a moment please?"

They both nodded and followed their beloved granddaughter silently. Rory led them the short walk to Lorelai's office and opened the door. "Come on in," she motioned.

Both Emily and Richard were stunned speechless at the sight of their daughter.

Lorelai was standing in front of a mirror, smiled and turned when she saw her parents enter. She was wearing a wedding dress that was as elegant as it was simple, perfect for a spring wedding at sunset. it was made of a lightweight, ivory-coloured silk that flowed gracefully around her body. The bodice was fitted and featured a sweetheart neckline, while the skirt was full and airy, with a slight train. The dress was adorned with intricate lace appliques, which added a touch of vintage charm.

Her hair was swept up into a loose bun, with a few tendrils left to frame her face. Her makeup was natural and understated, highlighting her radiant complexion and blue eyes. She wore the earrings and necklace Luke had given her that were made by Liz.

"You're breathtakingly beautiful, like a vision of spring itself," Richard stated while looking at her with adoring eyes.

"Thanks Daddy," Lorelai gushed. "Will you walk me down the aisle?"

Richard tried to hide his shocked gasp by quickly clearing his throat. "It would be my honour."

"Mom?" Lorelai walked towards her desk, "I need you to promise you won't be mad at me."

Emily's face scrunched up with confusion, "I thought I made it clear that I was happy for you and Luke."

Lorelai opened a drawer at her desk and pulled out a velvet bag, "No Mom, I want you to promise that you won't be mad that last Friday when I was at your house I snuck into your bedroom and took this," she carefully pulled the tiara that Emily wore when she married Richard from the bag. She held it up, surprising Emily, Richard and Rory.

"I needed something borrowed," she shrugged. "But I get it if you don't want me to wear it. I should have asked. But I wanted this to all be a surprise."

Desperately trying to remain stoic Emily smiled, her vision blurred by the tears in her eyes, "Of course you should wear it! I can't believe you want to." She took in a shuddering breath and exhaled, "May I?"

Lorelai sat at her desk and held out the tiara. Emily walked to her daughter, took the princess crown from her. Carefully and thoughtfully she placed the tiara around the bun, not trapping the tendrils Lorelai had framing her face. She touched Lorelai's chin to encourage her to look up and Emily smiled. "It's perfect." She touched her daughter's cheek, "Thank you."

Lorelai took Emily's wrist in her hand so when she rose from the chair she could keep her Mother close and pulled her into a hug.

Rory rested her head on Richard's arm and he quietly handed her a handkerchief from his pocket. He tilted his head upward in an attempt to not have the tears forming in his own eyes to escape.

There was a knock at the door. Rory rushed to get it and smiled at Jess, "Hi."

"Hey the natives are getting restless and Luke's about to jump out of his skin."

Rory giggled, "I think we're all ready now."

Jess nodded, "You look really pretty, by the way."

"Thanks, you look pretty good too. Are you going to be the best man?"

"Yeah. He asked and there's no way I can say no to him."

Rory smiled knowingly, "You'd do anything for him."

"If this doesn't prove that I don't know what will?"

They two shared a laugh and then Jess started to leave, "I'm going to tell them all to get into place."

"See you out there," Rory waved and headed back into the office. "It's time," she told her Mom and grandparents.

Lorelai' face lit up, she couldn't wait to walk down the aisle and marry the man of her dreams. She handed Rory a bouquet of wildflowers and kissed her cheek. "Let's get this show on the road."

"Well, I should go find my seat," Emily said as she made her way to the door.

"Mom, wait!" Lorelai called. "We're not doing a big thing. Luke has Jess standing with him and Rory will be with me. No others are in the wedding processional."

Emily nodded, "Alright."

"You know I never was really one for tradition, but maybe you'd like to come for a walk with me and Dad."

"Me?"

Lorelai smiled at how stunned her Mother was, "Yeah you. You're just as much my parent as Dad is, why shouldn't you be a part of this?"

Rory had missed this exchange when someone had come to the door again looking for them. She popped her head back into the room, "Come on people! We gotta move!"

Lorelai tilted her head, "Mom?"

Emily smiled, "Let's go get you married."
When they left the office Lorelai smiled at the sight of her Inn. The Dragonfly was transformed into a breathtaking wedding venue, with fairy lights twinkling around the room and above the Chuppah.

Richard, beaming with pride, offered his arm as Lorelai linked hers through his. Emily stood on the other side of her daughter, Lorelai held her bouquet in the hand that was linked to her father, dropped her other hand and took Emily's. Together, they made their way down the aisle, the guests standing and smiling in anticipation. Rory watched on, dabbing away her tears. Luke, handsome in a tailored suit, stood beneath the Chuppah, his eyes fixed lovingly on Lorelai.
She knew she should be looking at her guests, but once Lorelai's gaze met Luke's, a wave of emotion washed over them both and neither could look anywhere else.
At the end of the aisle Richard shook Luke's hand, as did Emily. Richard Kissed Lorelai's cheek and Emily gave her hand a final squeeze before letting go and then found the reserved seats in the front row.
The ceremony began, with Reverend Skinner guiding them through their vows. Lorelai and Luke spoke from their hearts, promising to love, honour, and cherish each other for the rest of their lives. They exchanged rings and couldn't remove the goofy grins on their faces. The moment they were pronounced Husband and Wife, the crowd erupted into cheers and applause. With tears of joy streaming down their faces, Lorelai and Luke sealed their vows with a passionate kiss. As they turned to face their guests, the Dragonfly Inn erupted into a joyous celebration, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, both knowing it would be the best one yet.
