"First Match"

Daphne scowled as Draco Malfoy and his goons slotted themselves behind her and Tracy in the Slytherin Quidditch Stands. Her hope for an uneventful and quiet Quidditch match was just dashed as Mr. My Father began to snark about anyone and everyone around them. But his favorite topic seemed to be–

"Stupid Potter couldn't even have the decency to get expelled! No, he gets rewarded by getting a spot on the Gryffindor Quidditch team," he bit out, his two bookends agreeing absently with him.

"Yeah, by him defending a classmate against a bully," Tracy murmured against Daphne's shoulder. Daphne rolled her eyes before focusing on the Quidditch Pitch. Nearly everyone had filed into the stands, so the match would soon start.

Lee Jordan, a third year Gryffindor, took the Commentator's stand, Professor McGonagall slotting in next to him to keep an eye on his cheek. Daphne had heard stories about the Gryffindor, his commentary biased but lighthearted.

The Slytherin team entered the pitch, doing their fly around for their intro, and they then settled down onto the green to await the entrance of the Gryffindor team.

And there they were.

"And we have Bell, Johnson, and Spinnet as your Gryffindor Chasers, with Weasley and Weasley as your Human Bludgers–"

"Jordan," McGonagall warned, her voice stern.

"Sorry Professor! I mean Beaters! To be honest, I can't tell them apart most days and I'm best friends with them! We have Wood as your Captain and Keeper, and then Potter as your Gryffindor Seeker, the youngest Seeker at Hogwarts in this century! He's flying on a brand new Nimbus 2000, donated from a generous benefactor!"

"What?! Perfect Potter gets to break the rules with his own broom?!" Malfoy exclaimed heatedly from behind them.

"Not just any broom," Tracy said from beside her. Daphne turned to see her best friend twisted in her seat to face Malfoy, a sneer on her face. "A Nimbus 2000. The fastest broom on the market right now. If I was a betting witch, I'd said it would be enough to ensure Slytherin's first loss." At Malfoy's reddening complexion, Daphne had to stifle a laugh. "And it's all thanks to you, Malfoy! You insisting on bullying someone in Flying Class led to Potter getting a spot on the Quidditch team AND getting the broom. So thank you, Malfoy, on behalf of all Gryffindors here today. They couldn't have done it without you." Tracy ended her statement with a huge smile, and Daphne barked out a laugh before the two witches turned back to watch the start of the match. With sputtering and grumbling behind them, Malfoy took his two bookends and headed to another section of the stands, away from them, which suited Daphne just fine. She and Tracy settled in to watch the match, eager to rub this game in Malfoy's face for the rest of the year.
