"Christmas List"
Rose despised whoever made it a tradition to buy Christmas gifts on actual Christmas Eve. Her anxiety flared whenever she had a list of items she wanted to get people, and then when she went to a store, they were all sold out. Sometimes she would have to go to two or three stores, or even call ahead to have them hold inventory for her before she could even tick one thing off of her list.
It was the worst.
Her boyfriend, Scorpius, however, was having a blast pushing himself against the crowd of other shoppers. They were currently at Primark, and she had several brightly colored jumpers in her trolley, ready to check out. The rest of the items in the cart–the matching button up shirts for every male in her extended family, a holiday edition set of candles for each of her female relatives, several decorative headwrap scarves for her mother, and every child's graphic t-shirt under the sun for the wide variety of cousins whose number only seemed to increase every year.
"Okay, that's enough!" Rose suddenly exclaimed as she dragged Scorpius out of the jewelry section.
"But Rose, you need a new necklace that matches the earrings you got for your birthday!" Scorpius replied. He actually whined as he said that, and Rose's scowl deepened.
"Well you're not going to find it here at Primark," she commented. "Not when you got the earrings from a specialty jeweler in Paris." Scorpius deflated for a moment, letting her drag him off to the registers. As they stood in line, however, with Rose mentally tallying up how much her jumpers would cost her, Scorpius perked back up.
"Does this mean you'll go back to la pierre précieuse with me to pick out a new item for yourself?" he asked with a grin, turning to look at her with a giant grin on his face. Rose couldn't help but sigh again before nodding.
"Yes, yes I suppose it does," she replied wearily, already mentally done with being out and about. And on Christmas Eve, too!
Scorpius pulled her in for a quick kiss and she melted into her arms, staying in the hug until it was their turn to reach the till.
Next time, they'd go shopping together the week before at the absolute latest. Her mental health couldn't handle it otherwise.
