Of Butterfly Wings
Chapter Eighty-Six: Unexpected Visit
Touya scowled at the winged man sitting across from him.
"How many times are you going to barge into my house without asking?" He curled his arm around the back of Kagome's chair possessively. "Don't you have a home to get back to?"
Hawks flashed him a wide grin, "Yeah but it's boring there! Plus the food here is always amazing." He then turned his attention to the man hunched in his seat at the far end of the table. "Isn't that right, Jin?"
The man ducked his head low, "That's right!" He then shifted in his seat, "It sucks!"
Jin Bubaigawara. He was an S-Class villain that they'd picked up recently. He'd been found in his apartment tied to a chair with a severe laceration on his forehead. According to him, the doubles he'd made of himself had turned on him. They'd argued about who was the 'real' Jin and started slaughtering each other until he'd been the only one left.
The man himself wasn't a bad person. He just had a string of bad luck keeping him from picking himself up off his feet. So Hawks had cut a deal with the prosecutor. Jin wouldn't go to prison so long as he was under the watchful eye of a pro hero. Which meant that wherever Hawks went, Jin was forced to follow.
The man's contradictory way of speaking had been hard for them to decipher at first. However he figured out pretty quickly that Jin's first comment was usually how he truly felt. The secondary reaction seemed to be a split personality that enjoyed taunting the first.
He'd sent Kagome a quick text about it and she seemed perfectly fine with their guest's odd behavior. They had to deal with worse in her family, so her lack of reaction was understandable. She was used to weird situations by now.
"See? He agrees." Hawks' grin widened as his daughters squealed, their hands reaching for the man's scarlet feathers.
Touya fought down a growl when the blond plucked Yua from her seat and allowed her to play with one of his feathers. Hina began to cry before he did the same for her. It took every ounce of his being not to reach across the table, punch the bird in his face and take his daughters back from him.
Kagome nudged his side when she caught his souring expression.
Katsuo and Tatsuo stared at Jin in utter confusion, as if unsure of what to make of their guest.
"Seriously man," Touya started again. "Go home. Having dinner here once a week is something. Coming here every day except Sunday is downright annoying." His eyes thinned at the blond, "Do I need to get a restraining order against you?"
Jin yelped and ducked down in his seat.
Kagome offered the man a reassuring smile, "It's fine. They always bicker like this." She shot him a teasing smile, "It almost makes me jealous."
Touya leaned against his wife, "Ain't nothing to be jealous of." He lowered his mouth next to her ear so the at she would be the only one to hear what he said next. "If you keep talking like that then I'll have to find another use for your mouth."
He smirked at Kagome's sharp flush.
She had a particular interest in dirty talk. It was difficult for them to engage in it frequently but he felt like this situation called for it. Especially with her hinting that she was jealous of his connection to Hawks.
"I heard that." The man at least had the audacity to look somewhat embarrassed.
"Yeah? Keep sticking around and you'll hear a lot more. Might work on number five and six tonight." He shot back at him.
Kagome had already told him that she had no interest in having more children any time soon. Their babies were still quite young and she'd like at least a year between births before they considered trying again. He didn't mind either way. He was more upset at the fact that he no longer had direct skin-to-skin contact with her during sex.
He'd never told her before, but every time they'd had sex he felt a certain kind of warmth flowing through his body. All of his little scrapes and cuts from the day would heal over and he always had a sense of being healed wash over him. With the condom, he no longer experienced the same level of warmth rushing through his veins. It was there, but it didn't flow through his entire body like it used it.
He was starting to miss it.
"Living here, you'll hear far worse." Rei laughed at the other end of the table.
"Mama!" Kagome buried her face in her hands in horror. "Please tell me you're just joking!"
Rei's smile turned teasing, "Why, I didn't want to interrupt. We have these beautiful girls here today because I left you two alone."
His wife gave a high pitched squeal of horror as she tried to sink down in her seat.
Touya carefully pulled her up and onto his lap. He curled his arms around her waist as he rested his chin on her shoulder.
That time Jin mimicked Kagome by covering his eyes while Hawks laughed at their antics.
"I see why you two have always been so popular. Kagome is pretty cute." He taunted them.
Touya knew that his partner was just trying to get a ride out of him, so he pulled Kagome further back against his chest while he leaned his cheek against her shoulder. He had half the mind to nip at her neck for added effect, however Kagome was already embarrassed enough and he didn't feel like traumatizing more than half of the dinner table.
"Hey Jin," Touya addressed their newest visitor. "Next time the bird tries to talk you into crashing someone's dinner plans, make sure you drag him off by his hair."
Jin looked terrified at the prospect while Hawks laughed even louder.
All of the children started laughing too, as if hearing someone else triggered the response in them.
"Alright kiddos, time for bed." Touya rose to his feet, taking Kagome with him.
He was in the mood for some personal time with his wife. He didn't care that it was barely dark out or that they had guests. He wanted them out and terrorizing them sounded like the most perfect idea.
His lips curled up into a smirk.
He was going to get Kagome back for that comment she made earlier.
He'd make sure of it.
