In Norse mythology, there was a story a great hero named Sigurd or Sieg. Though the concept of Nibelung was taken from his story, it was the early part of his legend. Nor it was related to the slaying of the mad dragon Fafnir.
No, it was related to the aftermath of his legend.
The Nibelung was conceptualized as "the transfer of money from the false owner". There were a lot of controversy regarding it, but the legends narrated that the treasures of the Mad Dragon belonged to the common folk. And the evil dragon was just hoarding it for himself. The hero called Sieg was just a small means to remove this monster so, the wealth of the original owners would go back where it truly belonged.
However, it was that all.
When Sieg died, the ownership of his treasures were also transferred to nobles who used that money for themselves. But in reality, they were spending the money over the common folks who earned their rightful wealth back.
The whole function of [Nibelung I] revolved around these stories.
The transfer of money back to the common folks, or the ones who had little to no money in their pockets.
In YGGDRASIL, this Super Tier spell would summon a weakly enchanted sword that could be dodged with a sufficient skill. Though, the strength of this sword was no different than a level 1 magic item, it was all a part of a major chain event.
Had the player made a physical contact with the sword, or hit by the sword even unintentionally, the true ability of the sword would activate.
And that was the transfer of wealth, or in the victim's words, the loss of wealth.
Another sword appeared in front of Tiamat. It was big enough to easily cut all her heads in a single slash. Yet, her resistances let her survive the slashes from the sword.
Or, was it truly her resistances?
In game, everytime a player took damaged from this newly summoned level 100 sword would a half damage. However, the player would not lose much HP from it. As the sword was not dealing any sort of physical or magical damage, but rather the financial damage. The more one survived, the more wealth they lost. Until a time would come when they had nothing to lose, except their life.
However, there were few limitations to this spell as well.
One, the player could just dodge the sword through a skill or spell. Heck, even putting a barrier in front of it would end the spell right there.
Two, the player could just transfer the money and all his equipments to another person.
And last, it was mostly useless against Monk type players. They hardly use potions, items or anything that they found expensive enough to lose.
Unfortunately for Tiamat, she was soon going through the loss of her financial status. As she took every damage from the sword, her hoard was becoming smaller than before. And soon, there would be truly nothing to lose.
Not even her life.
Meanwhile in the Faerun, there were things going on. Due to the random transfer of the spell, her wealth was oddly distributed among the common folks. Or whatever, the spell considered as the common folk.
The priestesses of Eilistraee suddenly felt their pouches filled with money, jewels and rare magic items.
The Temple of Selune got a huge chunk of money out of nowhere. Which they used to fill the empty belly of the worshippers under their goddess's commands.
The strongest True Dragon of Toril was drowned by a sea of gold, silver, diamonds, gems, and other artifacts. Leaving him both shocked and confused as he could not help but ask, "What the heck is going on?"
A merchant was shot by a single silver coin right in his mouth.
A group of thieves felt their pockets filled with gems before they could even steal from the noble's house.
A certain Archlich of Netherse got a handful of lost Netherses scroll related to dragons only.
And many more.
The world was full of chaos as even the deities were surprised by this sudden turn of events.
But there were those who knew what's going on. Many theories were put forward to explain such a large scale phenomenon, it might be an epic mage who had unleashed his magic over the world, or a powerful artifact unsealed over Faerun.
Only a select few were aware of this chain of events and where it's source lied. And it was during this time, even Gods were aware that the future of this planet was in chaos.
Satoru watched the whole battle with glee. He did not care about the XP from this goddess anymore. He just wanted her despair, her end.
As she was also the part deity, she held great dominance over the wealth of her devotees as well. He wondered if they would lose their wealth too.
He left her into her own suffering. There were many more important things to do for him. He quickly telephoned far from her and flew in the ashen sky of Avernus.
The dark clouds covered the world in darkness and saved the dried lands from being charred by the fires of the multiple suns above. The devils were still fighting against the demons for the sake of protecting their domain, but at the same time saving their own skin from wrath of the cruel masters of Avernus.
Watching their endeavour, Satoru finally calmed down.
He understood the fact that the devils were not saving this forsaken world because they loved it. But rather, because they had no choice to refuse the demands of those who were high in hierarchy.
It was so similar to that of his old world, that he considered ending this conflict once and for all. Despite knowing the fact that the devils would still populate this layer in the far future. The evils of humanity would send them back to this conceptual hell and he would not there to help them.
But, who cares?
He was here. He still needed XP for his level ups. And the aspect of goddess could not be given the mercy of being given a quick death anymore. The only option left for him was to find an alternative.
And that alternative was in front of him. Who were struggling against the chaotic creatures of Abyss. The demons as they called.
It was a small mercy from his part.
"[Shark Tornado, [Thousand Bone Lance, [Undead Army, ..."
Spells after spells launched over the battlefield. The devils wailed in pain as they were killed, slaughtered, and devoured, by an enemy above their weightclass.
The demons who heard the whole conversation between him and Tiamat, chanted his name as their Demon Lord.
"Hail to Ainz Ooal Gown!"
"Hail to Ainz Ooal Gown!"
"Hail to Ainz Ooal Gown!"
Satoru, on the other hand, just ignored their chants as he was too busy putting the levels in the correct classes of his choice. He had better things to do, after all.
