Akame Ga Kill: Kill the Second Chance.
Chapter Twelve: Wrap Up, Heal and Offer (Part Two)
Previously in the last chapter.
"Guys, I hate to interrupt this moment, but can we please get back to the serious topic at hand?" Lubbock asked, wanting his fellow assassins to get back on the topic of the half human/half Danger-Beast surviving Murasame's cursed poison. "What exactly are we going to do with this guy? Akame's Teigu didn't have any effect on him whatsoever and like I said before, it's possible our other weapons won't work on him as well. What are we going to do?"
It was here Leone, who had done some quick serious thinking in her head, declared a suggestion to her fellow assassins, a suggestion that shook them to their very core.
"Why don't we have him join both the Revolutionary Army side and Night Raid, guys?"
(In the Present; With Tatsumi)
While the other members of Night Raid were still shocked by Leone's rather insane suggestion, Tatsumi was busy cleansing the cursed poison out of his system with his cleansing powers after getting done inspecting the cut on his chest. He made sure to do this very secretly because he didn't want to reveal any more of his powers than necessary.
Tatsumi was still not happy to have his resistance to all types of poison secret out this early in the timeline, including his half human/half Danger-Beast one. He would've preferred to have them revealed much later in the timeline like after the Jaegers have assemble or when the Four Rakshasa Demons make their first appearance. But fate, apparently, wasn't on his side.
Tatsumi has no choice but to adapt whatever this timeline is about to happen later once he joins Night Raid, and he has to do it with extreme carefullness, otherwise he'll screw everything up.
After cleansing the cursed poison out of his system and taking a few moments to do a couple stretches in order to get rid of the slowness in his body, Tatsumi looked over towards Akame, who was still laying in the same spot he sent her flying at, but starting to become less dazed. He realized this was the perfect opportunity to talk to both her and the other members of Night Raid. By doing so, he can learn their opinions about him and see if he's skilled and worthy enough to be recruited into their assassination ranks.
Tatsumi really hopes he gets recruited into Night Raid because if he doesn't, then he'll have to face the Empire and the entire Imperial Army all by himself with no help from anyone. Technically, he could've actually ended the war once and for all right after he completed his very serious training in order for him to have total control of his powers.
By ending the war much sooner than way later in the timeline, no innocent lives would be killed or tortured after entering the Capital for the first time and the heavy corruption, along with fear and misery, will vanished to have a sense of peace, justice and happiness. Not to mention, the world will be much better to live in with only Danger-Beasts being the main threats, but only if they are angry when provoke or bother by something.
But the only reason why Tatsumi didn't end the war after he completed his very serious training to have total control of his powers was because of Esdeath and Syura. They would no doubt make the war much more chaotic and worse than ever once Honest gets killed, given their cruel and sadistic tendencies of killing many innocent people for either enjoyment or boredom.
Granted, the two sadistic people were far away from the Empire to carry out their respective orders, but once they find out Honest is dead, they will immediately return and start causing chaos. Although there is a chance Budo might step up and try to establish peace while extinguishing the corruption, but he'll still fight against the Revolutionary Army since they are the enemy to begin with.
As much as Tatsumi wanted to think about how he could've ended the war much sooner after completing his very serious training, he had more important matters to deal with, namely getting Akame's and Night Raid's opinion of him to see if he's worthy and skilled enough to be recruited into their assassination ranks.
But first, Tatsumi needed Aria to get inside the wooden shack so that she wouldn't hear the conversation. This task will be extremely easy to do because while she may be a sadistic selfish killer with petty issues, which is not having a beautiful figure like other women, she needs to keep her appearance as a very kind caring person. It's actually quite cunning and smart.
…Yeah, Tatsumi seriously needs to do deep meditation like he thought a while ago to clear his troubled mind. What the hell is he thinking of admiring Aria's traits?! He should be hating them completely, not admiring them!
"Aria, I want you to go inside the shack and barricade yourself," Tatsumi stated sternly after giving himself a few mental slaps to the face to clear his thoughts. "Do not attempt to leave it until I take out all the intruders."
"B-b-but what will happen if you can't take them out, Tatsumi?" Aria asked fearfully with a stutter in her voice.
"Then I'll go out as a heroic bodyguard who fought to protect you until the very end."
Aria didn't really seemed to appreciate this statement, but did what Tatsumi ordered her to do nonetheless by barricading herself in the wooden shack she uses as a torture room. She even went so far as to add numerous boxes for more defense, something she really hopes it would help keep the intruders out until she can come up with a plan.
Once he was satisfied Aria have barricade herself inside the wooden shack completely, Tatsumi began making his way towards Akame, who was no longer dazed and currently busy trying to subside the pain on her chest, along with the incredibly soreness on her back. The last part made it hard and difficult to move her body around, so it's why she is choosing to subside both the pain and soreness in her spot.
However, the moment Akame saw Tatsumi walking towards her, she stopped what she was doing and became tense, something that grew even more when he came to a stop right in front of her. Was this it? Was her life officially about to end? She didn't want to die as she wanted to at least see her little sister again when she had been forced to abandon her after learning the dark truth about the Empire.
Abandoning the only sibling she has to the heavily corrupted cruel Empire made Akame feel immensely guilty. Since then, she swore to eliminate every single enemy who works for them without hesitation or mercy. But…it looks like that vengeful promise is about to come to an end. Not only that, but she would never get the chance to see Kurome again.
For a long while, there was a deadly tense silence between the two assassins as they stared at each other, dark red orbs meeting very bright emerald-green ones. Then after a few moments, Tatsumi raised his sword high in the air, causing Akame to close her eyes while looking away as she braced herself for her incoming death. She will not show fear, pain, resign or distressed on her face when the very sharp sword cuts her down. She will not give him any satisfaction whatsoever.
Yet…the killing blow did not came.
Confused but still extremely tensed, Akame opened her eyes slowly and looked upwards to see Tatsumi staring at her while having his sword facing to the ground instead of raised high in the air. He then put it away in its scabbard and offered her his right hand after another few moments of staring at her.
"Sorry if I hit you that hard in the chest, Akame," Tatsumi stated, still holding his right hand out for Akame, who stared at it before back at him, her confusion increasing even more. "I had only planned on giving you a simple tap after shocking you completely, but I kinda went overboard. Again, sorry about that."
Akame wasn't sure what was going on at all. One moment, Tatsumi had been ready to kill her when all she can do was braced herself since she didn't have the strength to lift up her sword to defend herself, then he is suddenly not the next second before offering a hand to help her up. Why? Why was he helping her?
Something wasn't adding up, nor making sense.
But regardless of finding the current situation deeply confusing, Akame took Tatsumi's offered right hand with her own right hand after a few moments of hesitation and felt herself being pulled upwards from the ground.
"Why are you suddenly helping me instead of killing me, Tatsumi?" Akame asked the question she wanted to know in a curious tone as soon as she was standing up. Doesn't Tatsumi view her as an enemy?
"Because I have no reason to kill you at all, Akame," Tatsumi replied with genuine honesty in his voice, causing Akame's whole being to be at ease, despite the fact she shouldn't be since it could be a trick. But at least she wasn't getting killed. "Nor your friends who are hiding in the shadows behind the trees. I want to kill one person and one person only." 'There is another person I want to kill as well, but I won't have the chance to do that much later in the timeline.'
Akame can sense a personal hatred vengeance underneath Tatsumi's genuine honest tone when he mentioned he wanted to kill one person and one person only. This was a perk of being an assassin. "And who is this person you want to kill precisely?"
"Before I answer that question, why don't you tell your friends to come out from the shadows behind the trees? They would want to hear what I have to say."
Akame's eyes widened upon the mere mention of her friends. She had forgotten about them completely during her sword fight against Tatsumi. She wonders why they haven't bother help her when she was about to get killed by him. She'll give them a piece of her mind later after completing the assassination mission.
Nevertheless, Akame turned towards the direction where her friends are and called out to them but quietly as she didn't want Aria to hear. Unfortunately, they didn't hear her call at first because they have been busy scolding Leone heavily for coming up with that insane suggestion of letting the half human/half Danger-Beast hybrid join both the Revolutionary Army side and Night Raid the moment they finally managed to recompose themselves, which had been rather hard to do since they've never been so shocked before in their lives.
It wasn't until the second call out that the other members of Night Raid heard it, which put an end to the scolding Leone has been receiving, and were quick to stand by Akame's side while gazing at Tatsumi with extreme wariness and fear in their eyes, which are currently narrowed. They also had a tight grip on their weapons, ready to be used if he makes any sort of hostile movements.
"And here is the rest of famous Night Raid," Tatsumi stated, unfazed by the narrow looks being aimed at him. "I have heard much about you during my stay in the Capital a week ago." He looked at the very familiar faces he have seen in the previous timeline until he came to a stop at a certain blonde-hair woman. "Nice to see you again, Leone, you're still looking the same as ever."
"I would say the same thing if it wasn't for certain circumstances, Tatsumi, like you being an half human/half Danger-Beast hybrid," Leone said, still having her eyes narrowed at Tatsumi while mentally feeling extremely surprised he didn't show any reaction of her being an assassin. "Also, you don't seem or look surprised that I'm an assassin."
"Well, you did discover my secret when I first entered the Capital, something no one should be able to do since I had my presence conceal completely. This got me thinking and the only theories I came up with is that you are either a very skilled hunter like me or an assassin. I conclude it was the latter when I sensed you, along with your friends, heading towards mine and Akame's direction. We are basically even."
Leone wouldn't exactly call what Tatsumi said even because he didn't know she was an assassin until he sensed her, but she wasn't complaining. At least she gets to see him again. In the meantime, Akame was incredibly stunned to learn she had been fighting against the enemy Night Raid would need to take out in the future. No wonder he was able to survived Murasame's cursed poison the moment she cut him. She should've known this fact right after she saw that grin on his face.
"Alright, Tatsumi," Akame said, pushing her incredible shocking discovery away to focus on the current situation, getting Tatsumi's attention. "You said you want to kill one person and one person only, but wanted my friends to come out from the shadows behind the trees to hear what you have to say. They did what you instruct me to ask them to do, and we now want to hear your answer. Who is this person you want to kill exactly?"
The other members of Night Raid stared at Tatsumi, wanting to know who is this person he wants to kill as well.
The answer Tatsumi gave to Night Raid made them incredibly shocked as hell. "The person I want to kill is the same one I had ordered to barricade herself inside the wooden shack a couple moments ago. That's the person I came to this mansion to kill while recusing my friend who is being held captive by her at the same time."
Night Raid turned to exchange bafflement glances at each other, still incredibly shocked at what Tatsumi just said a mere moment ago. They were honestly going to admit this was a very strange night and one that's causing headaches to form. They could really use some drinks or a relaxing bath at the moment.
"Why do you want to…" Leone tried to ask the most obvious question Night Raid wanted to know, only for Tatsumi to interrupt her.
"Before you ask the obvious question of why I want to kill the person I work for as a bodyguard, Night Raid, I have two very great reasons," Tatsumi said, clearly having expected the obvious question if the knowing look on his face gave any indication. "The first one is to get payback for what that bitch did to my childhood friend who had done absolutely nothing wrong as she was completely innocent. I had discover what she does to country people the moment they enter the Capital for the first time by a fellow guard who works for her."
Night Raid listened quietly as Tatsumi reveals his first reason on why he wants to kill the person he works for as a bodyguard. Upon hearing it, understanding looks dawn on their faces. They were here at this mansion to kill the noble family who tortures and kills country people after abducting them from the Capital. They couldn't blame him of wanting to get payback for what happened to his friend who might be already dead to begin with, but chose not to say this fact out loud.
Now, it was time to hear the second reason.
"And what is your second reason, Tatsumi?" Akame asked, wondering what is Tatsumi's second reason. "You said you had two very great reasons. You only gave us the first one."
Tatsumi nodded his head. "You're right, I only gave you all my first reason. The second reason is I want to meet with you all in person once I get your attention, which I obviously did because of my secret."
"And why do you want to meet with us exactly after you got our attention?" Mine asked, instantly becoming highly suspicious. She had not once lowered her guard even the slightest bit when coming out from the shadows behind the trees and Tatsumi revealing his first reason of why he wants to kill the person he works for as a bodyguard. She will always be on guard.
This was it, the moment Tatsumi had been anticipating ever since Night Raid has arrived at the noble mansion to carry out their assassination mission under the orders of the Revolutionary Army. He knew what he was about to reveal will shock and unnerve them, but with a reasonable explanation, they might consider letting him be recruited into their assassination ranks.
Taking a breath while bracing himself mentally for the reaction that's about to come, Tatsumi reveals why he wanted to meet with Night Raid in person after he gains their attention.
"Because I want to join your group and the Revolutionary Army side to kill the person who is completely responsible for all the bloodshed, the heavy corruption, the slavery, the manipulation, the fear, the misery and the carnage in this war. I want to help you all kill the Prime Minister, Honest, to ensure a better peaceful world to live in."
And done! That's the ending of the chapter! Tatsumi has cleansed the cursed poison in his body away with his cleansing powers, gave Akame a helping hand instead of killing her and reveals his true intentions of why he wants to kill Aria to Night Raid before telling them he wants to join their group. Will they recruit him after hearing the reasonable explanation from him or will they turn his offer down because he is a very dangerous person who needs to be taken out for the greater good of the world? Find out in the next chapter.
I am very, very sorry it took three months to finish this chapter; I didn't mean to make you guys wait that long for a chapter update. I have kinda lost the writer's motivation for not only this story but also my other ones I haven't worked on in June. Fortunately, I have regained the motivation to write chapters for those stories.
I know I said Leone will give the explanation as to why Tatsumi should join both the Revolutionary Army side and Night Raid in the previous chapter, but it's been three month since I last worked on this story, and I wasn't sure how to write the plot. In the end, I decided to go with what I just wrote in this chapter and publish it.
Anyways, here is a new chapter for you guys to enjoy and I hope you like it. Also, the next chapter is going to be a whole new one.
Write a review if you like this story and enjoy the chapter.
