Draco and Hermione laid in bed the next morning, contemplating what their next step would be.
Hermione looked up at Draco, running her fingers up and down his arm. "Can you believe it's only been a week since you rescued me from the manor?"
"No I can't, it feels like it's been a lifetime."
"We're going to have to decide soon if we're going to extend our stay here or find somewhere else to stay. We only have today and tomorrow left."
"Right. I'm sorry you're footing the bill for all of this. I promise I'll repay you once I can get into my vaults again."
Hermione chuckled. "I know you're good for it. If anybody can make good on a loan it's the sole remaining Malfoy."
"Ah I knew you were only after my galleons!"
Hermiones jaw dropped. "Draco Mal-wait a minute! I don't know your middle name! How am I supposed to properly yell at you?"
"It's Lucius."
"What?"
"My whole name is Draco Lucius Malfoy. It's kind of a Malfoy tradition. My father's full name was Lucius Abraxas Malfoy. Also on my mother's side, the Blacks, they're all named after constellations, as am I."
"That's interesting. So I guess if you ever have a son his middle name will be Draco?"
"Huh, I don't know, I never really thought about it before."
"You've never thought about having children?"
"Well, I guess I have. It was just one of those things that was just assumed of me. Go to school, get married, pop out a couple of heirs as soon as possible, etc."
Hermione shifted uncomfortably. "So do you even want children?"
Draco looked down at her. "I think so. But lately I just haven't let myself think that far ahead. What about you? Do you want children?"
"Oh yes, I love children. I always wanted a brother or sister, but my mother had a lot of fertility issues so that never happened for her."
"My parents never wanted anymore after they had me. I guess they gave the required heir and were done having children. Though I think, for my mother at least, it had a lot to do with how her relationship with her sisters turned out."
"On that note, I'm sorry if me mentioning your Aunt Andromeda and Toni's yesterday upset you. I genuinely didn't think about them being related to you."
"No no it's ok, I was more curious than anything. I've never met them. I know that the family disowned Andromeda for marrying a muggleborn, but my mother refused to talk about her, so that all I really know."
"So is it ok if I ask for them to come to this meeting?"
"Oh yes. I honestly would love to meet them. They're the only family I have left. I just hope they don't hate me."
"I don't think they hate you. They may be a bit weary of you in the beginning, but they'll come around. I think you should know, Tonks and Remus Lupin are married, and have a son named Teddy, after her father."
"I have a werewolf for an inlaw? Merlin my ancestors must be rolling in their graves!" Draco chuckled at the thought. Well he was in a relationship with a muggleborn, so they were probably doing so anyway.
Hermione shifted and looked at him sheepishly. "Ahem, and Harry is also Teddys godfather."
Draco groaned into his hands, "Great Salazar will I ever escape the Merlin forsaken chosen one??"
Hermione giggled "Well, you're family now and he's my best friend so no, I think you're stuck with him."
He places a kiss on the top of her head. "Only for you love, only for you."
"We need figure out what we're going to do after the next few days. We may be able to extend a few days here, but this hotel isn't exactly cheap."
"Right, well if the dark lord is killed, we could take back the manor, though it may be hard to do that without the order noticing. If you'd even want to go back there."
"I don't know. There would definitely be plenty of room."
"It also has a potions lab, and I'm sure you'd love the library. If it's too hard for you however, we could always find somewhere else. I'm not exactly thrilled about going back myself."
"Let me think about it. I'll never know unless I try."
"You're so brave you know that? I couldn't do half the stuff you've done."
"You defied everything you've ever known, lost your family. You're pretty brave too Draco."
Draco kissed her soundly. "What did I ever do to deserve you?" He didn't let her answer before he kissed her again, lacing his fingers through her unruly curls.
"Harry!"
Draco froze. "What??"
"It's Harry's patronus!"
Draco rolled his eyes and groaned "Bloody Potter…"
"Hush! We need to hear what he has to say!"
"Voldemort is dead. The order is rounding up the death eaters as we speak. Hogwarts is all but destroyed. There's more to tell you. Meet me at the hut tonight at 9pm. Bring Draco."
Both sat in silence. Shock written on their faces. Hermione was the first to speak up, tears rolling down her cheeks. "It's over. He's gone. Voldemorts gone."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When they arrived at the hut they found Harry sitting at a table. He looked so tired. A shell of his former self. Hermione moved and sat down next to him, taking his hands in hers.
"Harry? What's wrong? I thought you'd be glad this is all over."
"It is over, but it came with a big cost."
"Who? Harry who did we lose."
He heaved a big sigh and closed his eyes. "Remus, Tonks, Moody, Percy, Lavender, Dean…and Snape. There are also too many injured to name."
"Snape? Wasn't he a death eater? Why you counting him?"
"He was a double agent, he'd been working with Dumbledore the whole time." Harry looked over at Draco. "Dumbledore's death was arranged. He was cursed by Gaunts ring anyway. It was a mercy killing."
Draco sank to the floor. He couldn't wrap his head around this. Hermione put her arms around his shoulders.
"Remus and Tonks too? Oh poor Teddy.."
"Yeah…um…there's something else you two should know."
Both of them looked at Harry. What could be worse than what he's already told them?
"After the battle, the order went straight for Malfoy manor. They found Pansy Parkinson in one of the dungeons. They were going to kill her because-"
Draco's face became angry. His normally calm grey eyes turned dark. "Because she's carrying the dark lords child, isn't she?"
Hermiones face paled and Harry looked at him in surprise. "How did you know?"
"Nevermind, Potter where is she?"
"Ron was supposed to be the one to do it, but he couldn't, so he contacted me and brought her here."
Hermione straightened and moved to stand up. "She's here? Is she upstairs? Great Godric is she all right? It can dangerous for pregnant women to apparate!"
"Actually Hermione we were hoping you could help us with that. Ron and I know nothing about this sort of thing, and we figured she may be more willing to talk to another woman about it. Or maybe even Draco since they were friends. She, understandably, doesn't trust us."
Draco stood up and took Hermione's hand. "Alright, we'll talk to her. Can you tell me more about the order seizing the manor? We were thinking of setting up there if it was safe."
"Honestly Malfoy it should be fine. It'll need cleaned up, the order came through and took what they wanted, but left the place a mess. I don't think they plan to be back. If you want later I can show you how to do the same charm that hides Grimmauld place."
"I'd appreciate that. Hermione, can I talk to you for a minute before we go upstairs?"
Harry glanced at Hermione and got up from the table. "I'm going to go let Ron and Pansy know you're here."
Once he was up the stairs, Hermione turned to Draco. "What's up?"
"I don't know how much you've been around Pansy, but she can be pretty prickly. Her most lethal weapon is her words. I just wanted to prepare you. if what Blaise said is true shes not going to like that you're here, much less that you're with me. I'm not making excuses for her, and I won't let her walk all over you, but she'll probably still say some truly hurtful things just to get under your skin, whether they're true or not."
Hermione nodded, "I understand. It'll take a lot more than words to take me down."
Draco pulled her in and gave her a kiss on the head. "That's my girl. Just try not to let her rile you up ok?"
"For that I make no promises. Now let's go."
They headed up the stairs hand in hand, shocked by what they found.
Ron was sitting on the bed, propping up a very green looking Pansy, who had her head laid on his shoulder.
Draco chuckled at the sight. "Well don't you two look cozy!"
"Shut up ferret!"
"Now Ron.."
"What in Salazars name are you doing here Granger?"
"Hello to you too, Pansy. If you haven't noticed, we are also in the company of my two best friends and my boyfriend so it only makes sense that I-"
"BOYFRIEND?? Oh Merlin Draco tell me you didn't! What would your father think?"
"I don't really care pansy. And before we go any further there will be no slurs. I don't expect you to get along but we're here to help, and you'll show her some respect. If you can't do that we'll be on our way."
"No Drake please don't go. I'll try my best to behave, if she does."
Hermione rolled her eyes, but Draco seemed satisfied. "Good, now how are feeling?"
"Like I got hit by a truck. And just the thought of food is appalling."
Hermione nodded, "Unfortunately that's normal early on. How far along are you?"
"By my calculations about 7-8 weeks?"
"It's still early days yet. Do you mind if I cast a diagnostic spell?"
Pansy sat up and looked Hermione up and down. "Fine."
"Ok, lay back down please." Hermione waved her wand over her, stopping around her still flat stomach.
"Would you like to hear the heartbeat?"
Pansy looked confused. "They have a heartbeat already?"
Hermione nodded. "If you'd rather not we can wait until later-"
"No, no it's fine. I want to hear it."
"Ok." She muttered the spell and a clear, strong heartbeat filled the room. Hermione grinned from ear to ear, while Pansy and Ron just stared at her stomach, awestruck. On the other side of the room however, both Draco and Harry looked less than pleased.
