Can you guess who I like more? LOL. Lae'zel will still get love though don't worry.

I offered Shadowheart a helping hand which she gladly took. She was, surprisingly, very light and much shorter than I thought, even a bit shorter than Lae'zel but not by much. She also smelt really good and it took everything in me not to drool over her. Keep it together! She caught her breath once again and dusted off her clothes before speaking.
"I thought that damn thing was going to be my coffin. I can't thank you- ugh!" Shadowheart said before we were both interrupted by a searing headache. A familiar one too, our minds merged and our thoughts temporarily became one. I could feel her gratitude, but also her wariness. Mostly because of Lae'zel. After the pain went away, I looked at Lae'zel who did not look happy. A scowl pursed her lips and she crossed her arms.
Shadowheart looked like an innocent little princess though.
"Uh oh," I said breaking the silence, which caused Shadowheart to smirk.
"You keep dangerous company," Shadowheart said. It sounded like she was joking but she definitely meant it.
"Don't worry, she's here to help, or more like we're helping each other," I said to her, it seemed like they were both happy with my choice of words.
"Help sounds good, it looks like we'll need it along the way. Let me come with you. We can get off this ship, and watch each other's backs along the way," Shadowheart said, sounding confident but not looking it. If I didn't already know who she was and how she really felt I might not have noticed, but she can't fool me.
"Did you feel that? Our minds connect?" I said to her.
"I did," She said with a soft chuckle and a sly smile.
'She definitely knows what I think about her, fuck that's so fucking embarrassing...'
"It must be because of those parasites they put in us. But that'll have to wait. Are we going to help each other or not?" She said with a now much more serious tone and a more desperate expression.
"Of course, we need all the help we can get," I said to her.
"Good. My name's Shadowheart. Your's?" She asked casually.
It was such a casual question but it truly stumped me. What stumped me more was what came out of my mouth.
"Reynard," I said, not intentionally just out of pure reflex, not my habit but this body's habit.
'Guess I'm Fucking Reynard now...' I thought, I wouldn't say I hated the name, it was pretty cool but it was just so unexpected. Well, I can't go back now.
"Lae'zel," Lae'zel said in her usual tone, I looked at her questioningly.
"Why didn't you tell me your name before?" I asked.
"You never asked," Lae'zel said, looking pleased with her answer. That left me even more confused.
"Yes, I did?" I said in confusion, her expression however did not change. I just shook my head.
Githyanki's, man.
As I turned around I saw Shadowheart put something away in her own satchel, I almost missed it but I turned around just fast enough to see it. She looked me in my eyes and I looked in hers. I knew she knew, I knew she knew I knew, and I knew she knew I knew she knew I know. We were at a standoff I knew I wouldn't win so I backed off.
"Let's go, and here," I said, handing her the scimitar I had in my hand.
"Hm, thank you," Shadowheart said, taking it and giving it a few swings. She seemed to accept it and sheathed it on her belt.
"Enough chatter, we need to go to the helm- now," Lae'zel before brushing past us and bumping shoulders with Shadowheart specifically.
Shadowheart looked upset and glanced at me, all I could do was make a what-can-you-do face before catching up with Lae'zel and taking the lead once again. There was only one door left and when I opened the door it made that signature sound and smell, it seemed like Shadowheart shared the same opinion as me.
"Disgusting," Shadowheart said.
"Get used to it," I said.
The room was small, I guess it would be called the pre-boss room, it had a Healing Station, or is it called something else? I took for granted the fact the game would tell you the name of everything, and the fact it told you everything's strengths and weaknesses and what it's used for. I mean come on! That's a cheat in itself. I should focus on what's to come though. Thinking about it made me groan internally. Fuck I really gotta do this! I took a swift look at my companions for comfort, at least I wouldn't be alone. Other than the Healing Station in the room, there was another door, and other than some embers, that was it.
"Shadowheart, go under that thing," I said while pointing at the healing station.
"What? Why?" Shadoheart said questioningly.
"It'll heal you, I used one earlier," I said.
She gave me a questioning look before speaking, "You first." Shadowheart said with her arms crossed.
I shook my head and sighed.
"At the same time then, I think it's for one use only," I said, honestly I'm not sure but I'd rather be sure than sorry, especially with the upcoming fight.
"Hmm. I'll trust you this time," She said before stepping into the station herself. Was she testing me?
"Using a ghaik's device. Unthinkable." Lae'zel complained. How in character!
"Ahh," Shadowheart groaned in satisfaction as soon as she stepped in the Healing Station. It glowed a bright blue light for a second before becoming grey and dull.
"I guess you were telling the truth, that definitely helped," Shadowheart said, she rolled her shoulders and jumped a bit, definitely looking better.
I stood directly in front of the door now that all 3 of us were rested and ready to fight. I mentally prepared myself for battle, it wasn't hard especially because of my blood. I was itching to fight, to kill. I took one last deep breath and reached out to open the asshole-like door.
"Wait," Lae'zel said, grabbing my hand, "We are nearing the helm. Once inside, do as I say."
Shadowheart looked a bit pissed and crossed her arms.
"Who put you in charge? I'll trust my own judgment," Shadowheart said, full of sass.
"Kainyank," Lae'zel cursed after smacking her lips.
"I know you might not like it, but please listen to her, she knows more than we do," I pleaded with Shadowheart.
"At least one of you understands," Lae'zel said in a more angry tone than usual.
Shadowheart looked at Lae'zel before looking at me, I tried giving her a pleading look but it probably looked way scarier than I hoped it would.
"Fine," Shadowheart said before dramatically throwing her head to the side.
I placed a hand on her shoulder and silently told her thank you.
Lae'zel, now taking the lead, placed her hand on the door which reacted instantly showing us the scene in the throne room.
"Fuck.." I said in surprise.
"Ghaik!" Lae'zel shouted.
The scene was, well, fucking crazy. Two large winged devils along with 4 imps attacked two mind flayers. The furthest devil looked around for something, not noticing the hulking mind flayer behind him. The mind flayer wrapped it gross slimy tentacles around the devil's head AND SUCKED HIS BRAINS OUT. Not like a smoothie or anything, no. Whole. It was fucking terrifying. After it was finished it wiped its tentacles and looked at the 3 of us with pure hate in its orange eyes. It didn't last long however because 4 imps flew by and cut its neck and body in quick succession. Blood squirted out like a fountain, and the angry mind flayer fell down dead instantly. The other mind flayer fought the last devil who attacked relentlessly with its flaming sword. The mind flayer dodged its attacks expertly before blasting the devil with psychic energy. The devil flew back into some stairs where it looked at the mind flayer with more anger than I could explain.
All of that happened in four seconds max.
The mind flayer looked at us and spoke directly into our brains.
"Thrall. Connect the nerves of the transponder. We must escape. Now." The mind flayer's words felt powerful, like a general.
"Do it. We will deal with the ghaik after we escape." Lae'zel before unsheathing her weapon.
"I have a plan! Shadowheart, run and connect the transponder! Lae'zel cover her! I'll deal with these guys here!" I ordered our group.
"On it!" Shadowheart agreed.
"Understood," Said Lae'zel.
I did not wait for them to move and instead immediately slashed at the nearest imps who tried to block our advancement. Lae'zel and Shadowheart took that as their cue to run. I barely managed to scratch an imp and the other 2 expertly flew out of the way. These fucking imps! I threw 2 quick slashes to the two imps that had dodged my last strike, they saw through my strikes and once again dodged them, the third imp however flew up, over, and behind me to which he then scratched my back with his sharp talons.
Pain shot up my back and sides but was quickly dulled by my adrenaline, I bit my lip and pushed through the pain. Damn this shitty leather armor. In a rage, I turned the upper half of my body and caught the imp's horns who was in the middle of running away. They were spikey and cut my hand more and more as he thrashed about trying to escape my firm grasp.
"You little shit!" I yelled before delivering a force blast directly next to his head. Chunks blew as a solid Boom! was heard from my hand. It was loud but not terribly so, the little imp's head was instantly sent flying in all directions and covered my hands, body, and face with hot chunks of brain and skull fragments. The remaining parts of his body fell lifelessly to the ground.
The remaining imps were relentless in their attacks and attacked me as soon as I killed their fellow imp, instinctively however I knew they would do exactly this so I ducked and dogged forward and turned around. Now behind them with their back exposed I chose one imp to kill and impaled him from behind with my longsword. my cold steel met his hot flesh and blood and cut through skin, fat, bone, and organs before coming out the other side. Steam rippled off my blade when I pulled it out. How hot was their blood? I did not give up on my attacks however and fired another force bolt directly in front of the last remaining imp, the blast propelled him forward at a surprising speed until he hit a nearby alien machine and stopped abruptly. Crunch! the sound of ribs breaking and punctured organs pierced my ears instantly. Next was the screams. How sweet they were, pure agony was shown on the imp's face as he slowly spat out his own blood.
He'll die sooner or later.
I quickly remembered the situation at hand and looked in the direction of Shadowheart and Lae'zel. They look like they got it. Were they fighting a boar? Where the hell did that come from? And a red imp. They were close to the transponder and seemed like they were about to win their respective battles. The mind flayer was still having trouble with the Commander and they were toe to toe. I should go and help.
I took one step forward before I heard the familiar sound of flesh unfolding and the stink of ass. I turned around and saw an unwelcome sight.
Two fucking big-ass devils in metal armor. They both looked similar and held similar weapons, the only difference being one of the devils had a whispy goatee.
"Damn humans! Help Commander Zahik!" The one with a goatee shouted before flying straight towards me. He came at me in a straight line with his trident right in front of him, I'm not sure what he thought was gonna happen but I easily swiped his weapon away and in one motion stabbed my sword straight through his neck. He didn't immediately die, he grabbed my sword and clawed at his throat, and tried gasping for air, but none came. It was honestly more a reflex but it was an extremely effective attack, and the sight of him slowly choking on his own blood with tears in his eyes made me let out a cruel chuckle.
"Abbadon, no! You! Y-you! You killed my brother, die!" The remaining devil screamed in anger before flying to me, although this time much more carefully. In his eyes were hot steaming tears and on his face was an easily recognizable expression of anger and hate. He gritted his teeth so hard I thought they would break, honestly, I feel kinda bad now.
I removed my longsword from the now-dead devil and circled the last devil, he was very cautious and waited for an opening that I did not give, I was just stalling for time. Those two should be at the transponder by now.
As soon as that thought came into my mind, I felt the ship spring to life and a feeling of weightlessness came over me before I was pushed back from the sheer speed of the ship. It felt kinda like those rides at a carnival that would spin and stick you to the wall, It would be fun if there wasn't dozens of dead bodies flying with you. I tried my best to stay safe while flying in the air but a flash of silver and purple that was flying towards me caught my attention.
"Shadowheart!" I yelled while reaching out and grabbing her.
"Reynard!" She screamed, reaching out at the same time. I was able to grab her and shield her from the nearby wall we were going to hit.
Thump!
We hit the wall and luckily I think I softened the blow, lucky for Shadowheart anyway it felt like I broke a fucking rib when I slammed into the wall. That's when the direction of the ship changed again and we started to fly in the opposite direction.
"Fuck!" I yelled.
Shadowheart let out a girly scream before closing her eyes and holding onto me harder, it would've been romantic if it didn't hurt so damn much!
Once again the feeling of weightlessness pulled us away and along with the numerous bodies flew. I was lucky enough to land on the transponder console. I then took one arm off Shadowheart and held onto the transponder with all my might. That's when I saw a familiar green and silver person fly towards me.
"Lae'zel grab my hand!" I screamed before grabbing Lae'zel's outstretched hand, now that I had all my hands off Shadowheart she began to squeeze the life out of me to the point where it honestly became hard to breathe. I just gritted my teeth and held on. Just a little longer! Do it for them! Thoughts of Lae'zel and Shadowheart flew through my mind. There was no way I would let go of them! A fire burned inside me that gave me newfound strength.
That was when yet another shift in direction pulled me away from where I was, I had a firm hold so I didn't go anywhere.
That was when a big ass piece of metal hit my face, and then I felt myself fly.
Then, nothing.
