Sing a song of sorrow and grieving,
Carried away by a moonlight shadow.

He returns with her to a dark and lonely castle. It was cold and no one was around due to the dragon war. He took her to a room and started a fire.

"Sit,"

She slid down into a chair,

"Speak,"

But she just looks at him,

"Miko,"

"Sorry, just weird, I always wondered about you."

"You think of my person often?" His tone was confusing to her,

"Um, well, er, it's complicated," She said,

He narrows his eyes,

"It's not like that, Sesshomaru." She waves her hands. "At least, I don't think so."

"You are unsure?"

"You changed, but I still never can tell with you, as I said you started off trying to kill me, but you saved me more than once, and in the end, you gave your life for mine, so who is to say what you were thinking or feeling,"

He detected no lie, but this could not be!

"Why have you come? Why do you wish to save me."

She thought for a moment, and then the light bulb went off, and she stood, "You did care about me!"

He did not look amused. "You know this how?"

"Because it's the reason I am here to save all of you, I care!"

"All?"

"Inuyasha dies too; the others are not born yet I don't think," Actually, time was a little blur. "When Inuyasha is 17 in human years, he is sealed to a tree for 50 years,"

He watched her thoughtful expression.

"My friends live in this timeline, I do not, but then the jewel sent me even farther back, so yeah, they aren't born yet."

He blinked, no lie from her.

"You wish to cheat death."

Her shoulders slump. "One life traded for many, death will get what it wants."

"What makes you think your life is worth more."

"Because one day, the jewel of great power over good and evil will be inside me."

He needed a drink, or to kill something,

"If you succeed, you die?"

"Something like that"

He was confused,

"Why not leave it as is?"

"Because if I fail, I die."

"So, you die either way?"

"Yes,"

That didn't make sense. "You made a deal too quickly."

"I loved you all."

That was unsettling to him,

"We are friends?"

"Um, yes, sure."

She seemed unsure,

"Why do you need me."

"I'm confused."

She's confused?

"I'm not really sure what to do."

"You have told me, that is enough"

She pointed to herself, "Still breathing."

Which meant there is no outcome as of yet,

"How long do you have."

"I don't know."

Which meant when the outcome happens, they would know, she would not be there, which to him was problematic.

"Start from the beginning; I will listen."

"It's going to be hard to tell; I will cry."

He nodded and she begins. She started from the very moment she fell to the last breath he takes and fills him in with all the in-between, and he listened as she told not one lie. She cries, her tears filled with pain and sorrow.

He can hear the change in her heartbeat as it struggles to replay their death and her life.

He did not fear death,

She looked at his sword. "That sword holds more power than you know, Sesshomaru, the other was left for Inuyasha, not to insult you, but to stay him."

He intakes it all and sits quietly, trying to understand; he wonders how he becomes so off the path, he glances at her "You."

"What?"

"You change my path."

"Well yeah, when you couldn't kill me, and I pulled out the sword, you seemed to take a step back; you never tried again after that."

"I respected you."

"I think Rin had something to do with your change," She takes a ragged breath. "We fought so hard, this just seems, so, not right, off."

She could say that again,

"Something is missing; something is not connecting." She says,

"Perhaps you need to die," He stood, and she looked up, and for the first time, real fear hits her like a ton of bricks as he looks at her with pure darkness.
