Marinette frowned as she positioned and re-positioned her sunflower on her balcony ledge. "Marinette, it looks fine. Its going to get plenty of sunlight and if you remember to water it, it will be a full-fledged sunflower in no time!" Her Kwami said.
"Tikki, this isn't just anything sunflower," Marinette smiled dreamily as she stroked one of the yellow petals softly. "Its Buttercup's birthday present." "Your giving Adrien a flower? Do you even know if he likes flowers?" Tikki asked. Marinette plopped down in an armchair and picked up her lemonade. "Don't be silly, all boys love flowers!" Nikki fumbled her her hands. "I thought they were into anime, video games and cookies!" "No, that's what Cat's into…" Marinette yawned, dropping off to sleep….
Marinette woke from her nap, smiling. It was Adrien's birthday and she could give him her flower! She rose from her deck chair, walking over to pick up the potted plant. "Hey there, Bluebell," a voice said, and Marinette nearly dropped her flower. Was her plant talking?
Slowly, she encircled the pot in her hands and yelped. The flower had Adrien's face. "Don't be scared, your the sunshine to my face," he said, reaching up with a leaf to touch her face.
Marinette smiled, but it was forced. Maybe she gotten a little to much sun? "You must get lonely sitting up on my balcony all by yourself," she said. "Nah, I have a great view and you take such good care of me, watering me and giving me plant food. Say, got any cookies….?"
Marinette woke with a start as her mother shook her shoulder. "Marinette, are you okay?" "Oh, Mama, I dreamed Adrien's plant I gave him had his face!" she wailed, burying her face in her mother's shoulder. "Maybe I shouldn't give him the plant after all."
Mama Cheng was about to respond, when she heard a whirring sound. "Marinette, take a look at your flower," she told her daughter. Marinette's head rose, and she smiled, seeing a small brightly colored ladybug land on the flower. "Ladybugs are good luck. This must be an omen."
Marinette headed back inside to make a card, excited to see Buttercup's shining face. Though, she probably wouldn't tell him he had become a sunflower, at least, not to his face!
