The Nightmare Tutorial
I feel the pain of the turn as Victoria bites me. Again and again, bite after bite.
'Where is Edward now? Oh right, he left, they all left. They should have known that she would come after me. Stupid Vampires, leaving me unprotected. They caused me to lose everything. Charlie, the pack, my classmates. Just everything. All dead and because of what? Is it because of me? Is it because of them leaving? Is it because of that damn baseball game?'
The pain starts to oddly dull, and everything starts to dull and fade away, I can feel my lifeblood being pulled from me, and little by little, every bite more is being taken. I want to scream aloud but I can't even make any sound.
That bitch tore my throat out and didn't want to hear my screams. Figures. Nothing in my life has been anything less than dramatically dangerous. Admittedly, dying by a flame-haired crazy vampire, yes, I said vampire, who just wants to avenge her fallen mate. Jokes on her, they all left, they won't care that I die. I imagine most of them will throw a party at my death. Maybe death won't be too bad. I will be able to see Charlie again. I can reunite with the pack again.
My thoughts stop as everything goes as black as a void. I try to look around. I am no longer feeling the pain I was just in.
"Am I dead? Where am I?" In response, a blindingly bright light appears out of nowhere with old-school lettering.

"New game? Wait, all of that bullshit was just a game? The HELL? Yeah, HELL NO" The light boxes disappear, all replaced with a main menu for a game.

I stare at the menu in front of me for a minute. "Wait, why is everything off or disabled? Yeah, no, I'm changing that—difficulty options.

HARD: EVERYTHING IS DOUBLE HEALTH BUT YOU
This is the world letting you know that you are in its sandbox, and it doesn't want to share. HP and REGEN are halved. Enemy stats are doubled. Blood is everywhere you go.
NIGHTMARE: THE UNIVERSE DESPISES YOU
Only pick this if you have passed hard mode, not beginner-friendly, PERMADEATH is the only save. HUD and MENU turned off. Tutorial disabled. You should already know this shit and not need to have your handheld. Life is hard, and YES, the universe is out to get you.
I look at the options available. "Yeah, I'm going to pass on easy mode. It's too boring. Adventure mode sounds promising. I won't even bother with hard, and I already had experienced nightmare… yeah that literally was a nightmare and I am so not doing that again. I guess adventure mode sounds like the best option. Uh, how do I select it?

"New game" The menu screen light turns into a small dot, one that is getting larger, I can feel a warm wetness around me.
As the light gets bigger, I feel a blistering cold. I try to stop but nothing helps. I am soon pushed into the cold; I hear a baby cry and look at who is holding me. It appears to be a tall human nurse's arms, well judging by the warm hands holding me. 'What is going on here?' I hear that baby cry again. I look around for the baby.
I become still at the sight of both Renee and Charlie. Both look happy together for once. 'I have to be dreaming… wait, did the new game mean a literal rebirth into the life I just experienced? Great. I have to go through puberty. Like that didn't already suck once. But hey! I now have a chance at maybe having a bit of a childhood this time.'
The world around me freezes and a new popup appears.
