Pulling up into the driveway, Elena turned the car off and pulled out the keys from the ignition. She huffed out a breath as she leaned back against her seat, spending five minutes staring at the home she once shared with Tyler for the last ten years. In the next few minutes, Elena will walk through that door, pack up all of her things, and walk right back out, leaving all of this behind.

While Elena kept staring at the house, memories of her and Tyler started to flash in her head. Memories of them hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners every year for their friends and family. Memories of them celebrating their wedding anniversary by making love to each other in every room in the house. Last year was the last time they made love to each other on their anniversary.

Elena quickly wiped the tears away and shook the last memory of him out of her head. Elena took another deep breath and pulled herself together. She can't think about Tyler and she can't let the memories of their life together suck her back in. Elena has to get through this and she can't if she's going to keep thinking about him.

Looking out of her rear mirror, Elena noticed Matt and Rebekah pulling up behind her, along with Bonnie and Stefan. Elena blew out a breath as she pushed the car door open and stepped out of the car. " Hey guys, thanks for coming. " She said as she opened the trunk and started to pull out empty boxes she was going to use.

" It's no problem, Elena. We're glad to help out. Are you sure that Tyler isn't home? " Matt asked as he wanted to make sure Tyler doesn't catch them.

Elena nodded as she pulled her house key out of her pocket. "I'm positive. I called Tyler's office this morning and they said he'd be in meetings all day. " She said as she unlocked the door and pushed it open.

Once they all walked in, Elena closed the door behind her and gave them each a box. "Most of my stuff are in the closet and in the middle drawers, " she said, then looked over at the couch. "Hey Matt, do you think you can fit that in the back of your truck? " Elena asked, pointing towards the couch.

"Yeah, I think so. But why do you want to take Tyler's couch? "

" Because it's mine, I mean I did pay for it. Besides, I need a couch for my new apartment and I don't feel like buying a new one. " She said as she shrugged her shoulders.

"What about the TV?" Rebekah asked as she looked over the flat-screen TV hanging on the wall.

" It's Tyler's; he paid for it. " Elena said as she walked into the kitchen and started to pack everything she owned and paid for into the boxes. She packed up the coffee machine she bought along with the coffee mugs. She also packed up the Chinese plates that her mom gave her on her wedding day. As soon as the memory of their wedding day started to play in her head, Elena quickly shook her head and sighed deeply as she quickly taped up the boxes.

Once Elena had all her boxes in the back seat and some in her trunk, she looked over at her friends. " Let's get all of my stuff to my new apartment. " She said with excitement as she got into her car and followed them to her new apartment.

The next morning, while Elena was walking around her bookstore, rearranging the books and fixing the displays, she heard someone walk into her store. "I'll be right with you, " she called out as she turned around and walked towards the front of the store. She then suddenly stopped when she saw Tyler standing right in front of her.

"What do you want, Tyler? " Elena asked as she crossed her arms over her chest and raised her eyebrows at him.

"Where's my couch? "

"Oh, you mean my couch? " she said, shrugging her shoulders as if it were no big deal. "It's sitting in my new apartment. But don't worry; I left you the TV. " She added as she walked away from him and around the counter.

Tyler sighed as he walked up to the counter. "Are we ever going to talk about what happened? "

Elena just shook her head. "Nope, because I really have nothing to say to you. You did what you wanted to do like you always have, and now we're getting a divorce because of it. Which reminds me, why haven't you signed the divorce papers yet? It's been over a week, Tyler. "

" I haven't gotten around to signing them yet. " Tyler said, shrugging his shoulders.

Haven't gotten around to it? " Elena asked in disbelief. " You know what, I really don't care what your excuses are. Just sign them and we can both move on with our lives. "

"Is that what you really want? To throw away our marriage? Ten years of our lives together? All because of one little mistake? Elena, I'm sorry that I slept with Vicki Donavan. I'm more sorry that you caught us. Elena, can't we work this out?" Tyler asked.

" One little mistake? Forgetting my birthday is a little mistake. Forgetting to pick up a few things at the supermarket is a little mistake, Tyler. Sleeping with your security is not a little mistake! It's a huge mistake, and it's the one I can't forgive you for. I told you in the beginning that cheating is a deal-breaker for me, and you broke that deal. "

Elena then sighed as she scratched her forehead and dropped her hand. "Can you just go, Tyler? Because I've got a lot of work to do, and you're just wasting my time. So, please leave now. "

" Is there a problem here? " Damon asked as soon as he walked in and he could feel the tension between Elena and another guy who he assumed it was her soon-to-be ex-husband.

"Hey Damon, no problem. The problem was just leaving. " Elena said as she glared at Tyler.

Tyler scoffed and shook his head. "Whatever, I've got to get to the office anyway. " He looked over at Damon for a moment. "And who the hell are you? The new boyfriend? " He asked accusingly.

" The new lawyer is actually a friend. " Damon answered with a smug smirk. " And I'm guessing you're the ex-husband. You know as Ms. Gilbert's lawyer, I am expecting to have those divorce papers signed and on my desk as soon as possible. "

" Gilbert? You're going back to your maiden name? " Tyler asked, as he never really thought Elena would drop his last name.

Elena just shrugs her shoulders. "I just figured that since we're getting a divorce, there's no reason to use your last name anymore. "

Tyler scoffed again, shook his head once more, mumbled something under his breath, and then walked out of the bookstore.

" You okay? " Damon asked softly as soon as Tyler had left.

Elena breathed out a sigh of relief as she nodded her head. "Yeah, I'm fine, Damon. Thanks. " She said as she smiled softly. Elena wasn't sure what was going on between them or what was happening exactly. But she could definitely feel something. She wasn't sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing.

Later that evening, Elena enjoyed her night in her new apartment, watching one of her favorite TV shows while sipping her glass of wine. In the middle of an episode, Elena heard her cell phone ringing. Picking it up, she noticed Caroline calling her.

"Hello, stranger, " Elena said as soon as she answered.

" Stranger? And here I thought we were friends. " Caroline asked as she couldn't help but chuckle softly.

"We are friends. It's just I haven't heard from you lately. The last time we talked was when I told you that I got my new apartment. " Elena said as she took a sip of her wine.

Caroline nodded her head against the phone. "Yeah, I guess I deserved that. Listen, the reason why I called is because I'm wondering if you're free next Friday night. "

Elena shrugs her shoulders as she takes another drink of her wine. " I don't know, I might be. Why are you asking? Caroline... you wouldn't be trying to set me up with anyone, would you? "

" Well... " Caroline started to say when she flinched by the sound of Elena's voice.

" Damn it, Caroline, I am not ready to go on a date, especially a blind date. Besides, my divorce from Tyler hasn't been finalized yet. " Elena said quietly.

" And how long is that going to be? Come on Elena, can you at least go on the date and give him a chance? I wouldn't have set you guys up if I didn't think he was perfect for you. "

Elena sighs, rolling her eyes as she can't believe that she's actually letting Caroline talk her into it and that she's actually going to go through with it. "What's the guy's name? "

" His name is Diego and he'll be picking you up for dinner Next Friday at seven. "
