Author's Note: Taking some liberties for background purposes for some of the characters as they don't really give us anything outside of game specific info. For the most part, this will follow most of the plot points in the games with the exception of some scenes having my two OCs in it. However, I will add scenes of my own to keep the story from being too spot on with the games. I took some more liberties with character ages (Like Kazama and Kashiwagifor example) and guessed their age based on some of the other characters (Like Daigo, Ichiban, and Haruka). I also wasn't sure what Kashiwagi's irezumi is, but I saw a headcanon that I can definitely see being a possibility. This headcanon was created by queenaccilasblog. Her headcanon is that he has a Fu dog on his back and it's a full irezumi with Chrysanthemums. I like that headcanon and it makes sense in terms of how he is and how loyal he is to Kazama. I don't own Yakuza/Ryu Ga Gotoku, its characters, or its storyline. Sega has all publishing rights and Toshihiro Nagoshi has all copyright to the Yakuza/Ryu Ga Gotoku world. Unless stated otherwise, any characters and storyline you don't recognize belong to me.

November, 1976

The man sat beside the bed in the hospital room, a tiny bundle in a pink blanket lay in his arms as the woman in the bed awakened from her sleep. The man had his jacket off, fearing the child in his arms grabbing the Kazama family pin and pulling it off. The way he smiled at the tiny being in his arms told the woman beside him that he had already loved her, despite who she may be later on in her life.

"Have you thought of a name, Osamu?" inquired the woman, her Japanese carrying an English accent.

"Akari." answered the yakuza. "I feel like it suits her well, Abigail."

"Kashiwagi Akari." murmured Abigail. "I'm amazed with how much she resembles you already."

Osamu watched his newborn sleep in his arms, eyes softer than normal and a gentle smile on his lips. The tiny bundle in his arms gave a whine before being passed on to her mother.

"I need to get back, but I'll be back later on with Chihiro." said Osamu. "I love you, Abigail."

"Okay." answered the new mother. "I love you, too, Osamu. Let Chihiro know I love him, too."

Osamu placed a hand on his daughter's head gently, the fuzz on her head soft against the callouses and roughness of his skin.

"I'll be back, Akari." said the yakuza man softly. "I'll bring your brother and hope everything works out for the better."

With that, Osamu grabbed his jacket, left the room, and went down the hall. He walks by the nurses station and towards the front, a proud fatherly air surrounding him as he left. Osamu left the hospital grounds once he was in his car ten minutes later, heading back to Kamurocho. His wife recovering in the hospital with the newborn for the next day or so. He at least had some good news for Shintaro when he got back, hopefully Chihiro liked the idea of being a much older brother. As he drove back to Kamurocho, he thought about how he would raise his daughter while he continued his work in the yakuza.

He had thought about it before, but this is something he worried about. Since his daughter is newly born and the world unknown to her, his mind presented him a possible ending to his small family. Akari being a social outcast because of him and Chihiro being part of the yakuza and the possibility of her becoming a hikikomori.

'I'll talk to Abi later.' thought Osamu as he auto-piloted himself back to the office. 'She may have few alternative ideas.'

As he parked a block or two away from the office, his pager went off. He checked it as he locked the car and began his way towards the office. A yawn leaves him as he placed his pager back onto his belt loop, deciding to wait until he was in the office to give an answer to Shintaro. He enters the building quietly, feeling guilty that he had vanished for a long period of time, but he felt that the birth of his first born child between him and his wife was a more important event. He opens the door and is immediately hugged by his adopted son. The boy holding the older man around his torso, a smile returning to Osamu's face. Shintaro knew by his right hand's expression that the child was doing well and healthy. Shintaro straightened up in the seat at his desk, giving a stretch.

"Abigail and the baby are still in the hospital." said Osamu. "Both mom and baby need to recover for a little while."

"Aw." came the disappointed sound from the ten-year-old.

"Gotta give mom time to recover, son." said the lieutenant. "Besides, the doctors want to make sure that your little sister is just fine, too."

"A daughter?" inquired Shintaro. "What's her name?"

"Akari." answered Osamu. "Kashiwagi Akari."

"Isn't that your sister's name?" inquired Shintaro.

"Yes." answered the family lieutenant. "She and I were close at one point while she was alive. We were still kids when she passed away, just barely into our teens."

The ten-year-old had let go of his father, going back to the coffee table in the sitting area of the office to finish his homework. As much as he wanted to go see his mother and newborn sister, Chihiro needed to be more on point with completing his homework. He knew that he'd be there for his sister to protect her as she got older when their parents and the rest of the family weren't around. Chihiro figured that Kashiwagi would teach her karate himself, giving her the skills to defend herself when she was on her own for one reason or another.

Shintaro stood from his chair and glanced at his watch. It was just after eight at night, deciding to let Chihiro finish his homework. He started for the restroom, previously anxious for Kashiwagi's child to be born.

"Dad?" inquired Chihiro.

A sound of acknowledgment came from Osamu, the man getting straight back to work after returning to the office.

"What did you and mom mean the other night? I woke up to go to the bathroom and heard you both talking about visas. What's a visa?"

"You're mother and I were thinking of taking you and your sister to your grandparents when your sister is a little older." answered Osamu. "A visa will mostly be for Akari, you, and me. Your mother has dual citizenship for here and America. It'll help us get into America with no problems. Hopefully, anyway."

"So it's just something that helps us travel?" inquired Chihiro. "Does it change depending on where you go?"

"Yes." answered the older man. "Not automatically, but it does change depending on where you go."

He doesn't get much of a response, but the older man figured that his son had fallen asleep. Glancing up from his paperwork and towards Chihiro's spot at the coffee table, the boy seemed to be taking a moment to finish his homework.

"Dad, has mom's family ever visited?" inquired Chihiro.

"Your grandparents did when you were a toddler." answered Osamu. "You were too little to remember them, but they were here for a little while. They may visit since your sister is a newborn. Your uncle may visit. I hear he has a daughter about your age."

"Are babies really time consuming?" inquired Chihiro. "What do I need to help with when Akari comes home?"

The twenty-six-year-old man smiled at his adopted son.

"Helping around the house when you can is more than enough help." said Osamu. "I just want you to know that babies need a lot of attention, more than you think. You need attention, too. Your mother and I are going to try to give you some time as well to hopefully keep some peace."

"Are they really hard to take care of?" inquired the boy.

"Sometimes." answered the lieutenant, eyes going back to his work. "It depends on if they are sick all the time, or uncomfortable. Since they also don't talk, babies can't just tell us what they need. We have to do a mental checklist, talk to the other parent, and then go from there."

"Oh." came Chihiro's sound of acknowledgment.

Silence fills the room, ambient noises from outside filtering through the window. Chihiro finished his homework and put it away as his adoptive father looked to him.

"Good night, dad." said the ten-year-old, picking up his bag. "See you home in the morning?"

"Yeah, I'll be home later tonight." stated Osamu. "Be careful on the way home. Do you still have my pager number?"

"Yes. I'll let you know if something happens." said Chihiro.

With a nod from the older man, the fifth grader left and quickly went to a taxi. Osamu got up and stood at the window, watching out for his son. He saw the boy heading towards the taxi, the man leaving the window to finish more paperwork before heading home to sleep.

The following day was Sunday, the fifth grader didn't have to worry about school for the day. Chihiro woke up to the sounds of water running in the kitchen, still at his desk with the lamp still on. He had changed clothes, but had gone back to studying. The boy left his room, right hand going to his eyes to rub them as he headed towards the bathroom. His father stood at the sink, holding a glass in one hand and a rag in the other. Abigail always told him he could pass as a bartender, a job the man briefly worked for about two years before joining Kazama in the yakuza. Chihiro heard his mother mention that a time or two as he sat at the table eating breakfast, but never really got the joke.

"We're going to visit your mother when you're dressed and ready." said Osamu as Chihiro entered the bathroom. "You'll meet your sister, too."

Chihiro's sleepy fog dissipated at the mention of his mother and sister. He was out in a few minutes, hands washed and jittery from excitement. He quickly went into his room to change, his father chuckling at the boy's excitement. Osamu looked to the table, a bag sitting in the center of it. Earlier in the morning, the yakuza lieutenant had gone to the nearest store that sold toys and bought a stuffed animal in the form of a Fu dog. He had one on his back, the idea of his daughter having something meant to lead towards a form of success struck him as both a way for him to always be there for her and give her some hope while he and Chihiro were away from her and her mother.

"I'm ready, dad." said Chihiro's excited voice, taking Osamu's attention. "Are we taking anything to mom or Akari?"

"I picked up something for your sister earlier." answered the man. "We'll pick up something for your mother on the way to the hospital."

Chihiro nodded and went to the door, a big smile on his face. Osamu just smiles, a chuckle leaving him as he put down the glass and drying cloth he was holding. He grabbed the bag with Akari's stuffed animal and his keys before getting to the door. Chihiro stood in the foyer, getting his shoes on. The lieutenant puts on his shoes, debating if he should have Chihiro with him at the office after visiting his wife and daughter.

If his wife and daughter were coming home, then he'll stay home for a few hours to help with the baby and making sure Chihiro learned how to help with his sister. Osamu wondered how Akari would turn out as she got older. He hoped that she would be like her mother, her kind and strong nature making way for a hopefully bright future with many friends and boyfriends.

"Dad?" inquired Chihiro, looking up at his father.

"What is it, Chihiro?" answered Osamu.

"Is mom seriously hurt after Akari's birth?" the boy asks curiously. "Is that why she needs to rest?"

"It takes a lot of energy to give birth as a woman." answered the older man. "Plus, the doctors wanted to make sure she and Akari were okay. It's possible to be injured while shoving out a tiny human. It is also possible for the newborn to be injured or have something else happen entirely. Sometimes the mother will have something serious going on after birth that wasn't caught during labor."

"Was mom okay when you left yesterday?"

"Chihiro, she's fine." stated Osamu as he and Chihiro got into the car. "If she wasn't the doctor would have paged me or called me while at home."

"Okay." said Chihiro as he buckled up in the front passenger seat.

The car ride was mostly silent as Chihiro took in the way what directions were needed to get to Toto Hospital. He hadn't been getting lost to anywhere too often, but this would be the first time he'd step foot in a hospital that someone he was close to was staying in it temporarily. Osamu had noted how the boy would taken in the environment around him, as if he was trying to learn things surrounding him. He would test this later should the boy continue to show signs of interest in any one thing. Despite the quiet ride, the pair enter the parking lot for the hospital and get into a spot as Chihiro unbuckled his seat belt. Upon getting into park and turning off the ignition, the yakuza turned to his son with a firm look.

"When we get in, you'll need to be quiet. Not whispering, but inside voice for sure." said the older man. "We can't get too loud either because Akari may also be sleeping."

"Okay." said the ten-year-old. "Inside voice and quiet voice for sleeping Akari."

Osamu grins at the boy and turns forward again to unbuckle himself. Chihiro got out of the car as Osamu opened his door, grabbing the bag in the front passenger seat. As he gets out of the car, his pager goes off. Getting it out and looking at the screen he saw that it was the hospital contacting him.

"I think your mother and sister are coming home today." said Osamu. "Good thing I have her car seat in the trunk. Let me get that before we go in, Hiro."

"I'll hold the bag, dad." said Chihiro once he got to the driver's side.

Osamu gave the bag to his son as he got out of the car and closed the door. Going around to the trunk, he unlocks it. Akari's car seat stared back at him as he grabbed it.

"Hopefully she's not much of a handful." said Osamu he closes the trunk, car seat in hand and out of the trunk.

Chihiro asked questions about the car seat, how long would Akari be using it, and how long would it be before she would be old enough to be able to do things herself. Osamu answered each question patiently, the boy beside him trotting to keep up with his strides. He wondered who Akari would take after more, him or Abigail?

As the paired entered the sterile environment, Abigail's doctor stood at the reception desk with one of her nurses.

"Ah, Kashiwagi-san, there you are." said the man. "Abigail and Akari are good to go. Go ahead and get to her room and Yamada-san will help you both with making sure the car seat is good enough and show you both how to get little Akari settled into it."

"Alright." said the yakuza lieutenant. "Chihiro, stay with me please."

The boy had started to wander towards the gift shop, hoping to get something for his mother.

"Yes, sir." said Chihiro, disappointed.

The boy's father stared at the gift shop and sighed, forgetting he did mention getting something for Abigail before getting here. He walked to the gift shop with Chihiro and Osamu let the boy find something for Abigail. Once said item was picked and paid for, the pair headed to Abigail's room. Upon entering, Abigail was dressed and standing before Akari's crib in the room. Hearing the door, the woman smiles as she turned around to face her husband and son.

"Osa, Hiro." said Abigail.

"Inside voice, Chihiro." warned Osamu.

"Mom." said the boy as he walked over to Abigail.

Abigail hugs him and ruffles his hair, happy to see her oldest child. She sees the bag in his hands, wondering if Osamu had gotten anything for her or Akari.

"Chihiro, don't you want to give your mother the thing you picked out for her?" inquired Osamu.

"Yes." said Chihiro.

He opened the bag and got out a wrapped item for Abigail. She smiles as she takes it, carefully opening it. As she opened it, it was revealed to be a new mother and child ornament. Christmas was around the corner and Chihiro knew how much she loved the holiday.

"Chihiro, thank you." stated Abigail. "This is so sweet of you."

The boy grinned up at his mother, happy that she liked it.

"Dad got Akari something, too." said Chihiro, holding up the bag.

A light blue shown through the white bag, raising curiosity for Abigail.

"Oh?" inquired Abigail. "I bet she'll be glued to you as she grows up, Osa."

"If she is, then I hope she doesn't go for some punk boy or a boy in the yakuza." said Osamu.

Abigail grins at the man as he stepped closer with the car seat, placing it onto the bed. A warm hug is soon received from his wife as the man turned to her, returning the hug.

"I think you just cursed yourself." said the American woman. "Don't be mad with me if she chooses a man in the yakuza just because you're in it."

Osamu snorts at that as he released his wife from the hug, looking to his newborn baby.

"I think I'll just hold her close for as long as possible as she grows up." said Osamu, placing a hand gently onto Akari's head.

Chihiro stood quietly at Akari's feet, looking at her curiously. She was looking up towards their father, softly cooing at his voice. Abigail opened the bag to see Akari's new item, the plush had a white mane, but didn't look like a lion. For the mother of two, she looked to her husband surprised.

"Osa, this is a fu dog." stated Abigail. "Are you sure you want her to connect fu dogs to you? Especially in the world you're working in?"

"Yes, she'll understand that it's part of the underworld I'm in." answered the yakuza lieutenant. "I wanted her to remember that even if I'm not there, she's protected, that I'll always be there for her regardless. I wanted her to know that even if Chihiro isn't there we're always going to be keeping her and you safe."

Abigail smiled up and Osamu, the man standing over her by six inches. Chihiro reached Akari's head, wondering if the thin layer of fuzz felt as soft as it looked. He smiles as he discovers that the peach fuzz on her head is just as soft.

"Akari, I'll be the best big brother I can." said Chihiro as he removed his hand from his sister's head.
