"I thought I'd never see that Quirk again…" All Might said the moment he finished passing tea to Izuku, Minoru, and Bakugou.
After the joint training session with 1B, Class 1A had gone through the rest of their afternoon classes without much incident. However, given that Izuku had a whole new Quirk in addition to his original One for All… He, Minoru, and Bakugou went to All Might the moment classes ended. They had gathered up in the usual break room, introducing it to the explosive blonde since he knew of their secret. But All Might usually got them settled in before they began their discussions…
Something the former number one hero completely forgoes this session.
"You know what that Quirk was?" Bakugou asked, taking a sip from his cup.
"It was my master's, Shimura Nana's, Quirk… It's called Float and it allowed her to hover in the air. However, I don't think I've seen her fly that fast before. Or punch through several obstacles the way you did, Young Midoriya." All Might replied, recalling long distant memories.
"Do you think One for All's stockpiled strength added to it?" Izuku asked as he almost devolved into his signature muttering.
"Since you awakened to one of your predecessor's Quirks, who's to say that wasn't the only one? There are 9 users including Izuku. He and All Might were Quirkless when they got One for All, and the first's Quirk was One for All itself… That leaves…" Minoru said as he began working through the facts connected to his partner's inherited Quirk.
"It's six you idiot. Deku has six Quirks hidden away in him. You didn't need to restate facts we already know to get to that conclusion." Bakugou said, jumping straight to the point as he glared at the shorter boy.
"Restating facts can help us realize something new dumbass. Since One for All is acting screwy on us, it's a good idea if we ground ourselves with the facts before we run off with random theories." Minoru replied, returning the glare at his nemesis. All Might let out a cough, bringing the boys' attention back to him. And after a sip of tea for himself, the former number one brought up something that happened earlier.
From just that morning in fact.
"This is probably why the vestiges appeared before you in your dream last night, to warn you about the chaos that would occur when you awaken their Quirks." All Might said as he looked towards the green haired boy.
"But my question is… Why now? Why was it during my time with One for All and not All Might's? Could there be some external force that prompted them to awaken those long dormant Quirks?" Izuku asked, pondering on the circumstances that lead them to this point. Minoru wondered about those questions as well. Since One for All was no ordinary Quirk, it's safe to say that it is extra weird and would probably be influenced by worldly events.
After all, there are 8 other consciousness in Izuku that were once their own individuals with hopes, dreams, and beliefs. They wouldn't sit idly by when the League of Villains, the offspring of their greatest enemy, is still out and about. Could that be what the vestiges are reacting to? To the enemy that still looms over the peace that they all fought and sacrificed so much for? But they haven't been seen since Dabi's appearance after Endeavor and Hawk's fight against that high-end Nomu.
And honestly, since the raid, Minoru have put Stain and Damocles higher than the League on his list of threats. Even if their murderous vigilantism has slowed down considerably, with only one body and its associating evidence coming up in recent memory, the shorter boy knew they were the ones to watch out for.
"I could think of someone up to something, All for One. Bastard probably has some kind of link to you since he basically made your Quirk through his. I mean, you both have multiple different Quirks inside of you, the only two people that I know of on this God damn planet to have that kind of power." Bakugou said bluntly. The tension in the room grew heavy at the mention of the ancient super villain that All Might defeated back in Kamino. While he was arrested then, pretty much leaving the future of the league up in the air…
There was no way someone like him wouldn't have some kind of contingency in mind. Not to mention there is still something unresolved between him and the users of One for All, whatever that may be.
"I didn't want to bring that up… But Young Bakugou is correct. Still, we shouldn't focus on what was and instead turn our attention on what will be. Young Midoriya, after Young Shinso put you under his brainwash, you mentioned something else occurred in your head at the time? Did the vestiges speak to you again?" All Might said. Izuku nodded and closed his eyes, no doubt thinking back to those few moments between Shinso putting him under and Uraraka smacking him awake.
"Yeah… Your master, Shimura-san, spoke to me. She was the one who explained to me the basics of what was going on and why another Quirk came out all of a sudden. One for All kept our predecessors' Quirks and their accumulated strength within itself, biding its time like a seed until it can fully unleash its true potential."
"That makes sense. Considering how much cultivating and care went into its growth, One for All is kind of like a plant… But that's not the point right now. Was there a particular reason you got Float first and not any of the other 5?" Minoru asked, thinking about how all this could affect their teamwork in the future.
"Shimura-san said I'll be awakening the Quirks in reverse order of the succession chain. So it'll go from her, to her predecessor, and so on until I have access to all 6. She also warned me to use their powers wisely and with a clear head, otherwise what happened during the Joint Training would happen again. I then woke up after Shimura-san wished me luck… Though I kind of wish she had more time to further explain the situation…" Izuku answered, opening his eyes before he went to stare at his right hand contemplatively.
"We can't always get what we want Deku. Sometimes, we've got to figure out this shit ourselves." Bakugou said as he placed down his now empty cup. Then, like the time bomb he was, realized something and flashed a rather aggressive smile at the green haired boy as he stood up. And if Minoru knew his nemesis, Bakugou just wanted an appropriate excuse to fight his old childhood friend.
It could prove useful in further figuring out Izuku's new situation though…
"Maybe Rat Bitch and I could help you learn to activate it in a 2-on-1 spar."
"Now as much as I want Young Midoriya to quickly work through this, let's not jump straight to violence. Let's first figure out the mind set behind the extra Quirks since my master commented on it. What was going on during your battle in the Joint Training? Did 1B do something that shook you?" All Might said, causing Bakugou to fizzle out and sit back down with disappointed grunt and arms crossed.
"Hmmm… I think it's what Shishida-kun was saying about Kacchan and our classmates… Monoma-kun must've shared some nasty taunts with him so that, when they're thrown at us, we'll become more vulnerable to Shinso-kun's vocal tricks. The one that was said before Float activated was about how Kacchan is the reason we don't have a Symbol of Peace anymore…" Izuku answered as he looked over at Bakugou.
"Fucking assholes… Didn't need to rub it in…" Bakugou grumbled as he sadly glared at his empty cup. Minoru simply nodded to that sentiment. Everyone in this room already knew how Bakugou felt about All Might's last battle at Kamino, so they knew well enough not to comment on it. So it was understandable if Izuku's anger flared up then, unable to stand-by while his friend's greatest personal failure was being unfairly judged.
"When I heard that, I wanted to drag Shishida-kun all the way to you and make him apologize… So when I jumped to kick him for saying something like that, I ended up tackling him at high speeds and started flying all over. My mind slipped into a panic and it kept getting deeper as I uncontrollably rammed into enemy and ally alike… That's why I wasn't able to acknowledge you or Uraraka-san until you hit me... I'm really sorry I caused such a mess and worried you all…" Izuku continued, both hands clenched into a tight fist full of frustration and regret. Bakugou slowly reached over to the green haired boy, seeming with the intention of calming him.
Only to smack Izuku in the back of the head.
"None of that was your fault dumbass, so don't go apologizing for that. But if you want to make up for it, become even stronger so that no one worries over you again."
"… Wow, that's actually decent advice coming from you. I'm actually impressed with you Bakugou." Minoru commented, rubbing his eyes to make sure the person who said that was the explosive blonde.
"You really have mellowed out, haven't you Kacchan?" Izuku said, smiling returning to his face.
"Oh fuck you both. I was giving the 'nice and supportive' act a shot and this is what I get? Forget the 2-on-1 spar; I'm going to kick both your asses so hard, they'll have more craters than the damn moon." Bakugou replied, hands out and already sparking.
"And he's back…"
"Ahem! Let's not lose track of the subject!" All Might said with a cough. The 3 boys, mainly Minoru and Bakugou, snapped their attention back to their teacher as he considered what the next step will be.
"So your mental and emotional state did heavily influence Float's activation. So we can expect the other predecessor's Quirks to manifest in similar situations, just with different frames of mind in play for the different Quirks. I'll do what I can to dig up information on the other users of One for All. That way, none of us will be caught off-guard when Young Midoriya activates next Quirk."
"You've got an idea who your master's master was?" Minoru asked.
"She always told me he was a black haired youth, but never anything about his career as a hero or his Quirk. I'll contact Gran Torino if he has any records or memories. Even a scrap of information will be incredibly helpful to us."
"Then Kacchan, Minoru-kun, and I will try to figure out how to draw out the one's I've already unlocked. Though let's just hope I won't unconsciously limit myself like the last time I was in a poor mental state… It took me and Minoru-kun a bit of time and effort to get our Quirks back to decent levels." Izuku said as the sparks of One for All danced around his hand for a moment.
"If that happens, I'll just throttle you until you're back to normal. And unlike Rat Bitch over there, I won't hesitate to pull the trigger." Bakugou replied, jabbing his thumb over to Minoru. The shorter boy simply rolled his eyes to that. Of course they can count on this explosive asshole to be violent when it matters… If only 'nice and supportive' was his default state-of-mind and not 'aggressive and supportive', then who knows the kind of progress the 3 of them could make.
"Then I suppose that is all for this meeting… Do you want me to supervise the spar you three will no doubt engage in the moment you find a free gymnasium?" All Might said with a nod before asking the question that seemed to be on everyone's mind.
"Yes please." Izuku and Minoru answered simultaneously.
"Hell yeah." Bakugou replied at the same time as the other two.
"Then let's get right to it young men, our work as heroes are never over!" All Might shouted excitedly, briefly turning into his almost forgotten muscular form to punctuate his point.
"Yes sir!"
