A/N hey everyone here's an interesting Young Guns fanfic I've thought about this for awhile now and I've decided to share it with all of you this story will be about a solid white female German shepherd who was abandoned by her mother when she was a Newborn and Chavez sees her and decides to raise her and names her Kelsey the first chapter will be when Chavez sees and raises her chapters 2 3 4 and 5 will go to where the movies are Kelsey will be fully grown when Billy arrives at the Tunstall ranch in the first movie so I hope you guys will like it please let me know what you guys think about it and I'll try and get chapters 2 3 4 and 5 up as soon as possible so please be patient and I'm not very good with grammar or punctuation so I would really appreciate the help with that and no negative criticism comments or reviews constructive criticism is alright but no negative criticism comments or reviews if you don't like it don't read and I don't own any of the Young Guns characters just Kelsey alright with that enjoy chapter 1.

Chapter 1. Abandoned And Lost

it was cloudy outside as a full grown German shepherd sets a newborn puppy down and walks off leaving the puppy to fend for itself the puppy a solid white female German shepherd whimpered trying to move around but can't because she can't see the puppy was at least a couple days old and was tired hungry scared and alone as the puppy was trying to move around when a young man in his mid twenties was walking around the ranch that he was living and working on the young man's name was Jose Chavez Y. Chavez or just Chavez for short Chavez was 25 or 26 years old with shoulder length jet black hair he's also a Mexican Indian his father was a Mexican soldier who fell in love with his mother who was of Navajo descent Chavez heard the whining of the newborn puppy he kneeled down and gently picked the puppy up and held it gently up to his chest he realized that the newborn puppy was a solid white female German shepherd who was whining softly and was trying to snuggle up to his chest Chavez gently petted the puppy's tiny head and decided to head back to the main house on the property he wanted to get the newborn puppy inside and warmed up as soon as possible when he walked inside he saw John Tunstall an Englishman who came to Lincoln County in the New Mexican territory from England and who is known for taking in wayward young man who didn't have anywhere else to go live and work on his ranch John was sitting in the living room with 4 other boys who also worked on the ranch John smiled softly when Chavez came into the room

what do you have there Jose? John asked curiously

I found this German shepherd puppy outside and she appeared to have been abandoned by her mother for some unknown reason Chavez said

well the poor thing should have a loving home perhaps we could find a home for this little one then John replied

Chavez you can't Dick replied

and why not Dick? Chavez asked staring at the dark haired foreman in front of him

because it's too much work especially with having chores on the ranch you're not going to be able to handle taking care of a newborn puppy Dick shot back

you're wrong Dick I can handle taking care of a newborn puppy as well as tending to the chores on the ranch Chavez told him

Richard I think Jose can handle taking care of the puppy and we will need to head into town to get some supplies for the puppy John said stepping in

Dick knew that he couldn't argue with John about it that day John took Chavez into town to get the supplies that he would need to take care of the newborn puppy and Chavez managed to prove Dick and the rest of the Regulators wrong and was able to take care of the newborn puppy who he named Kelsey sometimes he would call Kels as like a nickname for her he bottle fed Kelsey and everything he did everything he could to help Kelsey live he even went so far as to sleep near her in case she needed him one day Chavez was sitting down with Kelsey who was laying down beside him when she slowly opened her eyes and when she saw Chavez she immediately imprinted onto him and look to him as her parent when Kelsey was 6 or 7 weeks old Chavez begin training her and she eventually become obedient and always obeyed every single command that Chavez had given her Chavez was the really the only one she would listened to Kelsey was very attached to Chavez formed a tight bond with him Kelsey was able to try and get along with the most of the Regulators except for Steve and Dick she couldn't get along with Dick no matter how hard she tried and Dick used every opportunity to be a jerk to Kelsey and Chavez couldn't understand why Dick despised her so much Chavez was in the barn tending to his horse Worrier when Kelsey came into the barn and walked into Worrier's stall and happily barked at Chavez trying to get his attention Chavez looked down and chuckled happily and kneeled down to interact with Kelsey who was now 8 weeks old

hey Kelsey Chavez greeted you doing alright girl? to which Kelsey barked happily wagging her tail

Chavez chuckled happily ever since Kelsey came into his life he had become happy again before Star came into his life Chavez had been known to be distant from everything he had been through a lot he had lost entire family because Murphy sent the U.S. military to kill them when he and several members were trying to get food because Murphy sent them terrible food after the death of his family Chavez wanted nothing more than revenge but luckily John Tunstall stepped in and saved his life and now Kelsey has come into his life and made him feel happy again

okay Kels you ready? Chavez asked to which Kelsey barked happily alright sit and Kelsey sat okay now lay down To which Kelsey laid down good okay speak so Kelsey barked happily good girl Kelsey Chavez praised

while petting her head and gave her her treat

Kelsey happily took the dog treat and ate it then affectionately licked Chavez's fingers after the little training session Chavez got onto his horse and followed the rest of the Regulators out to the pasture to check on the cattle Kelsey wasn't quite old enough to handle the cattle just yet but Chavez was excited to teaching her about herding cattle after dinner and the usual reading session it was time for bed Chavez was sound asleep when he heard thunder crashing outside and heard Kelsey whimpering he sighed softly he knew that Kelsey didn't like thunder storms or any loud sharp noises that was for sure and saw her approach his bed Kelsey looked up at Chavez all scare and Chavez smiled softly he smiled a reassuring smile letting her know that she was safe from harm Chavez decided to let her sleep in the bed with him he gently picked her up and set her down beside him and they fell asleep together unaware of what was to come and that it was going to test their courage especially Kelsey's courage
