(This work would not have been possible without the help and guidance of my amazing beta, PhantomSith. Love you lots, girl.)

The only thing he heard as a warning was the shrill scraping of metal on metal. Before Erik could even ascertain where it was coming from, a terrible, deafening explosion ripped its way through the subway car.

Then…there was nothing.

- Blink. -

The stench of smoke. Lungs burning.

- Blink. -

Wheezing. Struggling for breath.

- Blink. -

Flames licking the floors. Oppressive. Torturous.

- Blink. -

His face…was burning. Flesh bubbling.

The stench of hydraulic fluid under his slowly disintegrating cheek.

- Blink. -

Screaming. So much screaming. Too many voices. His? Theirs?

Blood rushing through his ears. Heart pounding.

So tired…focus blurring…

The pain was too much. He could feel his body shutting down.

Darkness…

- Blink. -

Searing pain. His face. His leg. Everywhere.

One eye looked over at the destruction. Tunnel wall collapsed. Roof caved in. Concrete and metal crushing his legs.

About to crush him.

- Blink. -

Must. Move. Now.

He tried to pull himself free. No use.

Roof dipping lower. Lower…

A scream tore through him from somewhere. His? Theirs?

Darkness consumed him.
