It was some time ago, almost 20 years ago, and Summer Rose was cured of a terminal disease she had gotten. A family friend had taken her in, and helped cure her. His name was Professor Gerald Robotnik, and he was a father figure to Summer, and he wanted to help her.
Gerald Robotnik had broad and elevated shoulders, a round, almost egg-shaped, torso, slightly over-proportioned arms and legs, and large hands and feet. He was also bald with a dome-shaped head, a long and large nose, and low-set small also had an oversized mustache, that was whitish-gray, more voluminous and smooth.
Summer Rose had shoulder-length hair tied back in a half-up/half-down style and wore a hooded cloak which is white outside and red underneath. Under that cloak is a similar outfit mostly black: a high-neck décolletage blouse with studded wristbands on the arms, a black and white overbust corset, a skirt with white tulle underneath, gray leggings, and knee-high boots with red soles.
He then had a series of experiments to help cure Summer of her disease.
And with the experiments, it helped create the Ultimate Life-form, who cured Summer Rose.
His name was Shadow the Hedgehog.
He had black fur, with a white tuff on his chest, gloves with golden rings on his wrists, and his ankles. His shoes have jet boosters that help him move at high speeds. His quills point upwards, with red stripes on the base.
He became good friends with Summer, and she promised that she would bring him home with her to meet her family.
Shadow had heard much about them, and was excited about it.
However, a paranoid general of Atlas had caught wind of this top secret project, and decided to shut it down. He already had one immortal being that wanted to create genecide, he didn't want another.
He brought some troops with him, and they stormed the facility. Shadow protected Summer the best he could, and the Professor, but the Professor was captured.
Summer then managed to close the door on Atlas, and said, "Shadow. I want you to promise me something."
"Summer, what do you mean?" asked Shadow.
"Take care of the world I love," she said, "Protect my family."
Summer then gave Shadow a picture, and he looked at it.
"Please guard my daughters, and husband."
"Summer, I don't understand. What-"
Shadow was then shoved into a pod, and Summer then started to push buttons.
"Summer! What are you doing!?" cried Shadow.
The Atlas Military then burst through the door, and Ironwood then came forth.
"Ms. Rose. Release the Hedgehog. It's too dangerous," he said.
"No," said Summer, "He helped cure me, and I will be damned if he dies."
Summer then pressed another button, and stood her ground.
"I'm sorry about this then," said Ironwood.
Summer held her stomach, and saw blood coming from it.
"NOOOOOOOOO!" yelled Shadow.
Summer, with her dying breath, pulled the lever, and said, "Please... protect them, Shadow."
Summer then fell to the floor, and Shadow was launched away.
Later, he was captured, and put in cryogenic suspension.

Winter looked at the files, and set them down.
She couldn't believe that Ironwood would do something like that. She didn't know what to do.
Unknown, someone had managed to Area 50-Something, and stumbled upon a pod.
