This this is a Re-write and Re-Telling of the Sonic Forces video game in a darker and dramatic way. Putting the story exactly where it needed to be. This is a Tale of the Resistance and their turmoil of a ruined world after the events of the attack in Metropolis City when their only hero gets taken away.
A MAJOR thanks to the Beta-Reader here on that helped me put this into words and to fix it as much as possible till I felt confident with it. Thanks to...

WARNING/DISCLAIMER! This is written with TEENS to ADULTS IN MIND. Bad Language is UNCENSORED.
In Context: Tails in this story is 16 yrs old. With that in mind. Sonic and everyone else are in their mid-twenties close to thirties. Reason for that is due to the tone of the story is Suspenseful Drama, Violence and Language. But don't worry they don't swear. Worst thing to come out of them is Damn. But... the OC's? Get ready to see that F-word quite a bit.
The Story is Drama first, Suspense and Action. In that order.
Another thing is that there aren't any Wisps elemental weapons of power. The weaponry is typical weapons used in military. Knives, Pistols, Assault Rifles, Sniper Rifles, and Shotguns.
Same goes for Super Powers. Sonic and Friends are still intact. Sonic super-fast, Tails can fly... etc, etc, but the OC's don't. They are just average nobodies trying to make a difference.

Chapter 5: Tragedy Within the Force
Part 10: Stealth? What's Stealth?
Early in the morning Miles wakes up in his room, and looks at his watch. "Four hours of sleep? That's a record," he mutters. Still feeling groggy, he heads out of his room and goes to the bathroom. 'Ever since bumping into Chris, I've been able to sleep peacefully at night knowing nothing bad would happen. But either way… It's just so difficult being around him when he almost looks like… like…'
Passing by the kitchen, noticing the lights being on, he takes a quick glance into it seeing Sonic standing there. Continuing on he slowly stops almost reaching the bathroom. "Hm?" He quickly looks back to the kitchen, realizing who he just saw. "…What?" Overcoming with guilt, a tear runs down his face. He hurries back to make sure. Reaching the kitchen he looks into it again, but…
Chris was rummaging through cabinets in search for whatever there is to eat. "Geez… most of the stuff is close to expire…ing… never mind, most of it is past its expiration date-" Hearing footsteps by the doorway, he turns to look at it. "Hmm? …Miles?"
No one was there, but Miles was now back in his room in the corner, sitting and shaking not knowing what to do with Chris. "Why…? Why…? Why does he have to look like him? …Why?" he says to himself, crying. He crawls back onto bed and tries to go back to sleep whispering, "I'm sorry Sonic. I'm so sorry."
At noon, Chris just wanders around, wondering what to do before he gets bored out of his mind. "Chris!" He hears Miles calling out to him. Walking up to Miles, he sees him holding onto a pair of weird looking shoes. "Here… put these on," Miles says, handing them to Chris.
Removing his heavy combat boots, he slips them on. "Not bad. A little loose but they feel good," he says as he ties them tighter.
"It's not about feeling good; it's about what they can do," Miles mentions as he grabs a clipboard. "Let's go outside."
Outside, Chris notices that they were walking far away from the building but along the way, Chris notices dummies in terrible shape. Some have their limbs missing while some are badly burnt.
Miles then stops and requests, "Stand right there."
Chris walked to where he pointed to and stops. He then looks at Miles, waiting for whatever's next but sees him walk far away getting a good distance away.
Once stopping, Miles then asks, "Do you feel any tension or odd vibrations coming from the shoes?"
Chris checks them over then answers back, "No… no vibrating or anything weird."
He writes into his clipboard, "How about an increase in temperature? Do they feel warm to you?"
"Nope, they still feel good to me."
He mutters as he writes, "That's a relief."
Hearing one singular word, Chris asks back, "A relief?"
Miles quickly answers back, "Umm, nothing," he then shouts, "NOW PRESS THE ORANGE BUTTON!"
Chris looks down to the shoes, seeing the orange button on his right shoe. From the button, he wearily looks to either side of him seeing a dummy with both their legs blown off. From them, he looks back at the building and then to Miles. "Umm, you got me to come outside and away from the building… just to press a button?"
"Yup… need to make sure that the thing that's supposed to happen… uhh… well, will happen, and… umm… well… not the complete opposite instead," he explains back.
'What the fuck does that even mean?' Chris thinks to himself, giving Miles a concerned look. "Which is… what? …Blow up?"
Miles remains quiet for a while and asks back, "Have you been reading my notes?"
Surprised from what he just heard him say, he shouts back hysterically, "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?" He quickly sits down and desperately starts fighting with the laces to take them off. "Son of a… why the fuck did I double knot these things?"
Miles sighs as he slumps his shoulders, watching Chris panic. "Just press the button… you're not going to blow up," Miles says to calm him down.
"OH, REALLY!" he franticly waves his arms to either side of himself to the dummies. "Did you tell them that too, OR IS HAVING YOUR FUCKING LEGS BLOWN OFF COMPLETELY NORMAL?!"
He sighs, still able to hear Chris's complaints, "How the fuck did I even tie these?" He attempts to calm him down once again, "They're not going to explode. Just press it."
Chris stops trying to untie his shoes and looks at the button. He cautiously presses it and braces himself. Seeing the side of the shoes light up and pulsate but nothing happens. He then asks, "Ok… now what?"
Miles' voice drones out, "Nothi…n..gs dif…fer…e…nt?"
Feeling a bit noxious, he stands up looking around confused as to why Miles sounded so weird answering back. "I don't think… so," he answers, seeing a bug slowly fly past him. "What the?" Taking a closer look at the fly, he was able to see its wings flap in the air. He looks down at the shoes then back to Miles. "No way… is this really happening?"
And just walking to Miles, everything just felt different, sounded different. The sensation of the wind or even the sound of it now being nonexistent as if he's just gone deaf. 'What the fuck…?' He looks at his hands and then back to where he used to be with the dummies. 'I feel like I'm still over there.'
He reaches down picking up dirt and tossing it into the air remaining frozen in time. Continuing to Miles he then circles around him chuckling while flicking and messing with his hair. "Oh shit." He looks around some more. "Everything really is moving in slow motion." He bends down and presses the button again. Everything quickly goes back to normal, almost leaving him light headed.
Miles returns back to normal. While searching for Chris, he notices that his hair is a mess. "What the… how did my-" He turns around and sees Chris standing somewhere different. He smiles knowing that it worked and asks, "Still feeling good?"
"Better than good. That was… that was really something else," Chris answers back with a smile.
Miles was glad that everything turned okay, but then he remembers that Chris is from the Resistance. He looks at the Base and then back to Chris making a request, "I need you to go do something. The place is running out of supplies for repairs. Without them I can't properly repair the Tornado." He looks at the Resistance Base crossing his arms. "I would sneak into their base but… I wound up getting spotted by them one too many times. Sooo… they've moved it. Now I don't know where there Inventory store building is."
Chris looks at the Resistance base and smirks. "I know exactly where it is." He balls his hand into a fist and puts it out…
But Miles just stares at it doing nothing in return.
He sighs disappointed then opens his fist and says, "Hand me the list of what you need and I'll go get it."
At the Resistance Base Inventory building just outside of one of the windows, Chris can be heard angrily muttering to himself, "I fucking walk all the way down here to find his shit, while he stays behind and fucks around on his computer." He taps on one of the windows. "…Nope." He moves to the next, "What about you?" he taps on it… "Heck yeah."
Chris quietly opens the window and checks if anyone's around. 'No one?' He jumps right in, putting his weight on a box as it caves in, making him lose his footing. Slipping, tumbling, falling ending it with a face plant. "Ow! Damn that hurt. Nice entrance, idiot. Hope no one heard that." He says to himself as he gets back up. 'I was never the sneaking type.' He does finger guns. 'I'm more of the Gunz-a-Blazing type instead.'
Searching around for the parts on the list, but opening box after box, everything turned out to be mostly just food. "Nothing… nothing… Damn, there has to be something here that's on this list…" Opening one of the containers, he stands there staring into it. "Oh heck yeah." He puts his hand into it and pulls out a bag of chips. "Ranch flavored… and not expired too." He pops it open and grabs a chip. As he is about to put it into his mouth-
"What happened to Group Six?" A female's voice demands.
He looks over his shoulder and sees a pink hedgehog standing by the doorway glaring at him, ready to attack him.
Rewind…
Within the Resistance Hospital building, Amy sits next to Sonic's bed while he still lies on it. As they both watch the nurse leave the room, Sonic turns to Amy and gives her the biggest smile that spreads from ear to ear.
Turning her attention back to Sonic, she narrows her eyes to him knowing exactly what he want to do. "Fine." She gets up. "You can go run around again. I need to go check inventory."
"Twenty minutes again?" Sonic asks getting out of bed.
She grabs her keys. "That's right. It doesn't take long for me to check and no one knows that you're still doing this."
They both go to the hallway and go different ways. As Sonic reaches the exit, he stops and gives her one last look. Once she turns the corner, he opens the door and leaves.
Exiting the hospital and making her way to the storage building, one of the Resistance guards patrolling around waves at her to come to him. She approaches him she asks, "Is something wrong?"
"Sorry to give you some bad news Ms. Rose, but you're not going to like this." He points to the Storage Building. "Something sounded like it fell over in the store room. Pretty loud too, so get ready to see a mess. I was going to check it out myself, but you're the only one with the keys."
She looks at the building. "Thanks for the warning." Approaching the door and unlocking it, she opens to enter getting ready to see a mess but the sound of a bag bursting open surprising her, causing her to stop. "Huh? What was that?" Peering into the room, she sees someone standing with a bag of chips over an open container. She narrows her eyes, catching him in the act. 'Oh… the nerve of him. I finally get to see the culprit.' About to step inside to confront the thief, she stops as she notices something about him. 'Wait… his gear. Is he from…? He is.' She walks in and demands, "What happened to Group Six?"
Getting startled by her, Chris pleads, "It's a long story, just please don't ask for help."
She closes the door and locks it not taking her eyes off of the thief. "I have twenty minutes so it better be a good story."
Part 11: Innocent Till Proven Guilty
Back at Miles's place, Miles tries to find more possible spots to find purple particles for Chris to come in contact with. 'A file about the Power Generators? That's like the fifth one.' "Wait… what's this?" He clicks on an unknown file as a couple of sentences appear with a destination marked on a map. 'Bingo… his name is Infinite, but that's it… nothing else. …Yes, right here. This lab location. This is where it all started. I have… to… No.' He shakes his head correcting himself. 'No, I'm not alone anymore. We have to go to this lab area to get the rest of the information,' He thinks to himself, as he looks out of a window and to the Resistance Base. 'I just have to wait for him to come back.'
Back at the Resistance Base, Chris does fifteen minutes or so of explaining: "The monster? You know what it looks like?" Amy asks, bringing down her guard.
"Yeah, I got a good look at it. Way more than I should've," Chris answers as he also loosens up, eating the bag of chips in front of her.
"We got a name for him now. He's called Infinite," she informs him.
Chris then quips and eats another chip."Pfft, Infinite of what? Messing with your head?" He shoves more chips into his mouth. "Cause that's what happened when I was just looking at him. He was also the one that wrecked the aircraft I was on at the prison… and then I was saved by someone-"
"And now you're here stealing our stuff," she interrupts, accusing him with her arms crossed.
Slumping his shoulders in shame, he looks at the bag of chips in his hand unable to deny that he's stealing from them, "No… well… Can I say borrow?" He then seals the bag up and tosses it back into the container. "A kid needs it who rescued me from the wreck. Just a couple things he needs."
"Kid?" she becomes interested, uncrossing her arms.
"Yeah, the dude is smart. Needs it for his plane."
"Kid… smart… plane?" Surprised, her eyes widen realizing who it is, "Are you talking about-"
A gun shot sounds off startling them both as the bullet whizzes right by Chris. He quickly looks over his shoulder checking where it came from. He turns back to look at Amy and sees her Pink Uniform mid-section slowly turning red.
"No!" He rushes over and catches her before she hits the floor. Hearing a door open he glances over and sees a person heading out. He looks back down and Amy slightly struggling to talk. "This can't be happening."
"Run… Go… They're going to blame you," she requests.
He refuses. "I can't, not like this."
Feeling her body motionless in his arms, he slowly puts her down and hears voices outside. He quickly gets up to his feet and rushes to the window that he used to enter. He hears the door get kicked open.
They enter with guns drawn but only see Amy's body on the floor. "Ms. Rose!" one of them shouts. One of the Resistance Soldiers sees Chris running to the window as he jumps, smashing right through it to escape.
Chris rushes back to Miles's base franticly saying the same four letter word over an over. Reaching the front door, he enters almost breaking down the door, startling Miles from it. "What happened?" he asks seeing Chris head straight to the kitchen.
"Whatever you have planned…we got to go. Now!" Chris says in a panic.
"What happened?" he asks again, concerned.
"Someone spotted me in the place," Chris answers hysterically, trying to stay calm as he searches through cabinets for anything to drink.
Concerned, he asks, "Who was-" But then stops mid-sentence noticing his clothes having blood on it. He then points at them. "Whose blood is that?"
Just as Chris was about to take a drink, he stops after Miles said the word blood. He looks down on himself seeing that it's on his shirt and vest. "It's hers. It's from her. The chick that found me," Chris answers.
"What chick?"
He takes the vest off and answers while looking at it, "Uhh… Hedgehog, pink quills… pretty sure that I heard her name was Ms. Rose."
Miles eyes widen realizing who it is and yells out, "AMY!"
"Wha? Is that her-" As Chris asks he suddenly gets slammed up against the wall by Miles as he demands, "WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER?"
Chris, being surprised, grabs onto Miles' wrist and squeezes tight, then twists them to break the grab. He shouts back and pushes him away. "I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING! We were talking about what I've been doing since I've gone missing. Then she got shot. WE WEREN'T THE ONLY ONES IN THAT FUCKING ROOM!" Chris calms himself down and asks, "Who is she?"
Miles with one hand on his head paces around as he answers mumbling, "She… and… and Sonic are kind of a couple. He never admits to it but… he loves… OH, NO… nononono…" Miles says over and over walking away.
Chris just stood there in the middle of the room in complete shock and in disbelief. "Shit, Oh shit… he's going to come after me," he mutters to himself.
Rewind…
Sonic barely makes it back in time to the Base door. He quietly opens the door… and it's Trish again. Relieved to see her, he whispers, "Glad it's you." He looks at her sad face. "What's wrong?" he asks, concerned.
She doesn't answer but instead has him follow her. She leads him to another room but stops at the entrance, not entering it.
He looks at her, but still she doesn't say anything or make eye contact with him letting him enter the room first.
The first person he sees is Knuckles and then Silver right next to him. Knuckles turns and looks at Sonic and backs away from the bed letting him see who is on it. He stares in disbelief at seeing Amy hurt. "No..." Turning to Knuckles approaches him in anger. "WHO? HOW? TELL ME KNUCKS! WHO DID IT?"
Seeing how enraged Sonic is, Silver quickly gets in the way trying not to use his powers to restrain him. "Calm down, ok? Just calm down. She's going to be fine. Just please calm down."
Knuckles informs him, "We have an idea who it was. It was someone trying to steal from our inventory. He looks like a hedgehog, Green quills. Goes by the name Rookie-"
Sonic's eyes widen knowing who it is as everything else Knuckles says just drones out. "Chris," He says, easing up.
Knuckles looks at him, "You know who it is?"
Sonic clenches his fist in anger, "Yeah… yeah I do."
Part 12: Sneaking around at the Labs
As the sun slowly sets behind the mountains Chris and Miles set off towards the Hidden Labs on the Tornado. On their way, it was very silent between Chris and Miles until Chris finally said something to break the tense silence between them. "You sure know a lot about the Resistance… especially Amy. How? You've been with them before?"
Miles hesitates to answer until he finally answers, "No, I've never been with them. It's just… I know most of them that are currently there, like Amy."
Knowing that there's more, Chris continues to pry, "If you know so much about Amy and her relationship with Sonic, then does that mean you know a lot about him also?"
Miles stays silent but then says as a warning, "I'd rather not talk about it. It's best for both of us."
Landing close to the Labs located near Metropolis and with darkened covered sky lit up by hundreds of stars, they both exit out and walk the rest of the way.
Reaching the Lab's main entrance, Miles comments looking at a map, "I didn't expect for this place to be big," he then hands Chris an earpiece. "Put this on so we can keep in touch."
"So we're separating?" Chris asks as he shoves the earpiece into his ear.
"That's right. You're going to check the opposite side while I check this side. We have eight areas to check," he says as he marks four spots for Chris to check on a map and then hands it over.
"Alright, so what exactly am I looking for?" Chris asks, looking at the map.
"Computer room for its hard drives, you'll know it once you see it. That ear piece will start to hum once you're close to the right computer."
"Got it," he says back, as he un-holsters something from his side.
Miles makes sure everything is ready and good to go, but notices something is missing. "Where did it go?" He looks over to Chris and sees what he's holding onto. "How did you… when did you?" He reaches out to grab it.
Chris raises it high into the air. "Don't get your tails in a knot. I'm not going to fucking shoot anyone with it."
'Ugh! Of course he's going to think that it's a gun.' "That's not what it is," Miles quickly points out.
"Really? Then what is it?"
"It's an electro by-passer to force any lock open when I can't hack into it manually," Miles explains.
Confused and also disappointed from what Miles said, Chris looks at the not-gun in his hand and then asks, "So… what would happen if I nail somebody with it?"
Miles narrows his eyes at him. "Gee… I don't know… why don't you try it on yourself to find out," answering back with an attitude.
Chris narrows his eyes right back. "You know what, I don't appreciate that sass of yours… so maybe…" He slowly aims it at Miles, about to pull the trigger…
Miles's eyes widen in panic. "NO! Don't even… DON'T!" He quickly hops back avoiding it and quickly flies away.
In utter disbelief watching him fly away, he mutters confused, "What the fuck? He can… fly with them?" He laughs and holsters the gadget back to his side and then shouts, "Have fun checking this side!" He walks off while following the map mentioning, "He even sounded like a…" he comes to a stop and looks back. "Like a mini-copter?" He continues on his way muttering, "Nah… couldn't be."
Miles reaches the first building and enters to check it. The first room he enters turns out to be a normal office lounge area. 'Nope. Not here.' He marks an X on it and moves on to the second area. He flies out of the window and then he touches upon the rooftop of the next building.
Pulling out the map to figure out where the next spot is, he turns, facing directly to where he needs to go. "That way," he mutters and as he looks up, he notices lights are on in the building. 'Huh? The power still works around here?' As he gets closer he notice them move realizing what it is. "No… they're here?" he ducks out of sight and contacts Chris. "Chris, can you hear me?" he says, still looking at the lights moving.
"Yeah, I can hear you. Over?" Chris answers from the ear piece.
"Be careful over there," Miles warns.
"Why?"
"We have a Resistance Squad looking around."
"Wha? Here? That's great. You think they're looking for what we're looking for?"
"Most likely. There's probably more of them searching around. We have to hurry and find it before they-"
A loud shattering sound of a broken window makes Miles take his earpiece out of his ear and look at it.
"Geez…" Miles puts his earpiece back into his ear. "What's with you and going through windows?"
"They're in my way," Chris answers.
Trying not to be overly frustrated, he warns again, "Just… be cautious over there."
"Yeah, yeah. I'll try not to rough them up too much. Chris out."
Miles focuses on the building, looking at the flashing lights, but hears weird noises coming from his earpiece… "…Maybe just a little… it has been awhile since I kicked someone's ass," he hears Chris talking to himself.
"I can still hear you," Miles informs him.
"Uhh… whoops," Chris says and all Miles hears is him messing with his earpiece while complaining, "How do you mute this sh-" finally silence.
Miles smiles and laughs, shaking his head, but then remembers about Sonic and how bad he is with gadgets. He sighs trying not to get sad and focuses on why he's here. He looks at the building where the lights are coming from. He examines the map again and back at the building. "Great."
The building has only one floor and just a couple of rooms. He knows he could easily be spotted if he's not careful. Entering and slowly heading down the single hallway, he notices that it was just two Resistance Soldiers in the largest room. He checks the map and becomes relieved that they're checking the wrong room but he needs to get past them to get to the right room before they do.
In the large room are desks with PC's and filing cabinets that they are currently going through. Looking at the floor he sees a stapler. He grabs it and looks at one of the soldiers. 'Time for a little diversion.' He aims close to where one of the soldiers is and throws it.
The Soldier then moves and gets hit right on the side of the head by it.
"Eeep!" Miles quickly ducks down and hides behind a desk slightly peeking over it, worried.
"Gah… Damn!" The soldier rubs his head and looks at the other soldier that's with him. "Are you kidding me?" He grabs the stapler and throws it at the other soldier hitting him on the back.
"What the… What the fuck was that for?"
"You know why."
"I didn't do shit."
"OH BULL-" They begin to throw anything and everything at each other that's within arm's reach.
Miles, feeling sorry for hitting him in the first place, he hides and stares as things are thrown from one side of the room to the next. He sneaks right by, still looking at them fighting until he reaches the correct room. Opening and entering, he gives one quick look then quickly exits out shaking his head. He sneaks right by them again and back to the hallway, then out of the main entrance. Once outside he can still hear muffled arguing with random loud sounds of things getting smashed. He looks at the map and then to the right, knowing where to go next. He takes flight whispering out an apology, "Sorry about that."
Rewind…
Chris lands onto the next building after jumping through the window, landing on the roof. He enters the building to search the third area.
Still fighting with his earpiece, he manages to mute himself walking down the hallway. "Can you hear me now? No? Good, you smart ass, high IQ, Mr. I'm Not A Kid… and… umm double tailed… wait… two tails? How the fuck do you even walk straight?" He stops to think of any other insults. "What else?" He looks down at his shoes. "Right… who tried to kill me with these damn shoes as a test subject."
Angrily pulling out the map to look at it while still walking, he stops and looks back down the hallway that he came from. "Of course I passed the damn door." Going back, he stands in front of the correct door. "Right here." Opening the door but inside was just a broom closet.
"Wow… not cliché at all. Major X on you." He slams the door closed and pulls out the map again. "Bet he did that on purpose. Last spot is 5 buildings across." He looks at the steps that lead back to the roof. "Alright, let's do this." He goes back up the steps to the roof top and prepares to jump from roof to roof to finally reach the last spot.
Once landing on the right building he contacts Miles again, "Hey Miles, you there, over?"
Miles heads to his next spot while flying, and lands while answering, "I'm here. I'm almost at the third area. I have to keep going the long way to avoid them. Have you seen anyone over there?"
"Nope, nobody and not only that… I'm about to hit the last spot," Chris gloats.
"Lucky you. Guess those shoes are really helping you out."
"I'm not really using them but they sure are comfortable at least. Either way I'm almost there too, I just… ha… ve… uh… crap… uh… M- Miles… I- I need some advice down here," Chris begins to panic.
Miles getting a bit concerned, he stops and asks, "Advice, on what?"
"You're going to pay for what you did to her," A familiar voice comes out of his earpiece, which makes Miles pull it out and blankly stares at it in shock.
"Wha?...it- it- it can't be…!" Miles says trying not to lose it.
The last thing Miles hears coming out of the earpiece is Chris' voice panicking, "How do you take down Sonic?"
