Finn had a hard time falling asleep. It wasn't often he slept alone when he was home from the road. His girlfriend Leticia was usually sleeping next to him. She was out tonight for a friend's bachelorette party and he wasn't expecting her home until tomorrow at some point.

"Why is it so god damn hot?" He grumped.

It was a hot night and the heat was getting to him. He had the bedroom window open to get some much needed air in in an attempt to cool him down. He rolled over on his back and suddenly heard a sound coming from somewhere in the house. His eyes flew open while he tried to figure out if his mind was playing a trick on him.

"Did I close the kitchen window?" He whispered to himself. "No, I closed it. I'm sure of it."

He heard a glass breaking and he sat up in bed. Someone was inside the house. He had not closed the kitchen window. He got out of bed and grabbed the baseball bat he kept in the bedroom for protection. He had bought it so that Leticia would have something to protect herself with in case of an intruder when he was on the road. Now it was suddenly himself that needed it.

He moved through the house as fast as he could without making a noise. He could hear someone inside the kitchen. He took a deep breath, reached a hand inside the kitchen, hit the light switch, and stormed into the kitchen with the bat raised while screaming at the intruder. A pair of confused, sky blue eyes stared back at him.

"You wanna play baseball at this hour?" She asked.

He stared at his clearly drunk girlfriend sitting on the kitchen counter in the process of trying to get her long, medium brown hair untangled from the braid she had put it in. She had climbed in through the open window behind the counter and knocked down a glass. There were shards on the floor and she luckily hadn't cut herself from what he could tell.

"I thought you were an intruder. You nearly gave me a heart attack," he said.
"Sorry, love," she smiled.
"Why are you breaking in anyway?" He asked.
"Technically I'm not breaking in when I live here. You left the window open," she said.

He put a hand in his side and gave her a look she knew all too well. She giggled and gave up trying to get the elastic out of her hair to free it.

"I lost my keys," she said.
"You could have called me," he said.
"I didn't wanna wake you up," she said.
"You're crazy," he chuckled. "Stay there. I don't want you to cut yourself. You're drunk so I don't trust you right now."

She let out a laugh while he grabbed the broom and dustpan. He quickly got the glass shards up from the floor. He walked over to her and helped her with the braid. Her long hair soon framed her face in beautiful waves caused by the braid.

"Hi, beautiful," he said.
"Hi, love," she said.
"I wasn't expecting you home this soon," he said.
"The wedding's off," she said.
"What?" He asked.
"We played this stupid game where we drank a lot of shots while answering questions. Someone asked her cousin who the last guy she slept with was, and you can guess who she mentioned," she said.
"No way," he said.
"It was a shit show. It went into a real fight and we had to pull them apart. She screamed for us all to leave except her best friend and so I came home. I don't know where my keys went. I'm pretty sure I had them in my hands while I walked up the driveway but they were gone when I reached the front door," she said.

He smiled at her and placed his hands on her knees.

"Did you look for the squirrel?" He asked.

Her smile grew bigger and he chuckled at her. Ever since she had discovered they had a squirrel living in a tree in their garden, she stopped to look in the direction everytime she was out there. He was sure he would find the keys on her usual spot in the driveway where she always stopped and looked. He grabbed her and carried her out of the kitchen while she was giggling. He carried her to the bathroom and put her down.

"Brush your teeth and get ready for bed. I'll look for your keys," he said.

He grabbed his phone to use the flashlight while walking down the driveway. As expected the keys were there on the ground. He picked them up and walked back inside when he remembered the kitchen window. He walked out there to close the window so he wouldn't get another scare that night.

"Are you coming?" She yelled.
"Coming!" He yelled back.

He walked back to the bedroom and found her only in a thong on the bed.

"It's too hot tonight," she said.
"Tell me about it," he said.

He climbed down next to her, snuggled up against her, and placed a kiss on her temple.

"I love you," she said.
"I love you too even though you scared the shit out of me," he said.
"You should have closed the window," she said.
"And you should have called me or gone for the bedroom window. It's open too," he said.

She raised her head and looked towards the window. She could see the curtains wave softly in the breeze.

"Oh yeah," she laughed. "Maybe I'll do a roleplay one day where I climb in through the window to surprise you in bed."
"Go to sleep," he chuckled.
"Admit you would love it," she said.

He placed another kiss on her temple and smiled in the darkness.

"I would totally love it," he said.
