Hello everyone! I'm finally trying to get back into writing again and I am so happy to present this little fic here! It's a remix of a fic that will be linked here and let me just say…it kinda turned into its own thing haha. Enjoy!

Adrien's fingers hovered over his phone screen. He should've been asleep by now, but he needed to satisfy the constant itch in his brain. A hefty sigh escaped his lips as he contemplated his thoughts.

Ever since that day at the museum, he couldn't stop thinking about Marinette. She occupied every inch of his mind and he knew it. The force she had on him was currently pulling him away from getting a good night's rest.

Plagg sat on his shoulder, yawning as he stuffed a piece of cheese in his mouth. "Come on, it's late," he pulled on Adrien's ear lobe. "She's probably asleep."

"I know," Adrien whispered, his eyes staying glued to his phone. "But I just need to talk to her, Plagg."

"Then you can talk to her at school tomorrow," the kwami said, now yanking on his shirt. "Let's go to sleep."

He yawned while waving the kwami off of his shoulder. "You sleep, I'm not ready yet," he said, wiping the sleep from his eyes. He noticed Plagg's glare and shot him one back. "I'll sleep soon, I promise."

Plagg squinted his eyes. "Okay, whatever," he laid on the pillow, his tail curling around a piece of camembert. "But if Paris gets attacked and you're too tired to fight, it won't be my fault."

Adrien shook his head, letting go of the slight frustration that entered his mind from his kwami's nagging. Now…where were we? Oh, right…

Marinette

Any bit of frustration and sleepiness simultaneously exited his brain as soon as her image came into view. Her shiny, black hair that he urged to run his hands through. Those bluebell eyes that he wanted to get lost in. Her adorable dimples that complimented her beautiful smile. Not to mention her dorky, yet admirable, personality.

Everything about her was so wonderful and amazing. Everything he could ever ask for in a girl.

His heart tingled in his chest, complementing the warmness on his now pink cheeks. There was definitely no way he could sleep now.

He closed out the messages app, not wanting to make any adrenaline fueled decisions just yet. Instead, he opened up the photos app. The most recent photos were all of Marinette. Some were images he had saved from her old Instagram account, others were pics they had taken together with friends. He let his finger hover over an image of the two of them.

Adrien smiled happily as he thought back to that moment. He had been so incredibly happy to see her at the park and now it made sense as to why. Although, at the time, the two of them were just friends.

Well, they still were currently and he was hoping to change that…

He sighed before laying back down, his phone landing on his chest with a dull thud. Throwing his arms out across the bed, he found himself staring up at the dark ceiling as his eyes threatened to close shut at any moment.

Plagg looked at him with one eye cocked open. "You finally decided to give up on that girl and go to sleep?"

With a scoff, Adrien turned to look at the black blob through the darkness. "First of all, I'm never giving up on Marinette," he said in a firm, yet whispered, tone. "Second, no, I can't sleep as long as I'm thinking about her."

The kwami rolled his eyes. "Oh boy, here we go again," he said. "What, are you gonna break out into song this time?"

The boy rolled his eyes as he picked up his phone once again. "Very funny," his fingers gripped the sides of his phone as his eyes laid upon the photo once again. Despite his sagging eyelids, he managed to smile as he flipped through the few photos he had taken with Marinette. A small ache formed in his chest as he suddenly yearned for more than just a few.

Plagg let out a laugh before settling back down on his pillow. "I'm just messing with you, kid," he said. "I can tell you like this girl a lot."

Adrien sighed. "That…is an understatement," a rush of feelings poured from his chest, spreading throughout his body until he could feel it tingling in his toes. He shivered as all the heat in his body suddenly went into his cheeks. The sensation was far from cold, though, as every single part of his face burned with intensity. His heart pounded in his ears and he knew it couldn't be stopped now. "I don't just like her…I love her."

He continued on before his kwami even had a chance to speak.

"Marinette is…I can't even describe it. She's just so special to me. Always has been, but now I know why," his eyes glanced back at a picture on his phone, this time of just Marinette by herself. "There's not a single thing about her that I don't love. She's sweet, passionate, beautiful, oh gosh she's so pretty."

He paused before sighing heavily and closing his eyes. "I want to tell her so badly. It's actually hurting me that she doesn't know how I feel about her," he placed his right hand above his heart. "I just…need to think of something to say to her. Anything. I want, no, need her to know how much she means to me."

"Can't you just go up to her and tell her?" Plagg asked in a slightly sarcastic tone.

"Of course I could," Adrien said, finally putting his phone down. "But it's not so easy sometimes. I may be cocky and confident as Chat Noir, but as Adrien…" He sat up, looking down at himself through the darkness. "It's hard to find the right words."

"You've got it in you, kid," said his kwami. "I know you do."

Adrien looked back at him, smiling a little. "I'm glad you believe in me," he told him. "Maybe…maybe I could think of something if I were to spend more time with her. I've never really thought about it before, but she and I don't really hang out together. At least not when it's just the two of us."

His head shot up and a smirk formed on his face. "I think I've got an idea…" he held up his fist and turned back to his kwami. "Plagg, claws out!"

Chat Noir landed swiftly atop Marinette's balcony. The aforementioned girl was nowhere to be found. He pouted after realizing that Plagg may have, indeed, been right about her being asleep for the night.

Just as he was about to leave as quickly as he had arrived, however, the faint sound of shuffling could be heard through her trap door. His heart skipped a beat once he realized that there could still be a chance.

He took a moment trying to decide the best course of action. Going to her window might freak her out, but so would the fact of someone knocking on her balcony door in the middle of the night.

Guess there was only one way to find out.

He knelt down by the door, the faint sound on the other side now drowned out by his own heart pounding in his ears. His gloved hand shook as he tapped lightly on the door beneath him.

Suddenly, everything stopped. He froze, jumping back slightly as the door creaked open. His heart felt as if it would explode at any moment. A pair of blue eyes poked out, staring at him through the darkness. They squinted, as if daring to see who was disturbing them on this warm night.

That was when Marinette let out a loud gasp and fell back down through her door. He grabbed the end of it before it could slam closed.

"No, no, no, please no," she muttered to herself. "Oh god, not now."

His sharp ears picked up the hint of distress in her voice. "Hey, Marinette," she laid back down on her bed, willfully ignoring him. "Are you okay?"

Her entire body froze. Every ounce of blood and heat had left her as she buried her face into a pillow. Reluctantly, she patted on the spot next to her on the bed. "Come, sit."

Chat Noir jumped inside, landing with a soft thud. His cheeks flushed at the near sight of her and he had never been so grateful to be wearing a mask. "I…um, I know this is a bit random," he sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck. "But something told me that I needed to come check up on you."

Marinette's shoulders drooped as she finally took the pillow away from her face. "Well, I guess it's a nice surprise," she wiped at her red, puffy eyes and sniffled. "It's not like I was asleep anyway."

It was at that moment that the blush on his cheeks turned into a different kind of heat. He felt his blood begin to boil as he quickly took notice of her current emotional state. "Hey," he placed a hand on her shoulder, maybe a bit too quickly as she jumped back from his touch. "Are you hurt?"

Her eyes widened from the sudden change in his voice. That softness was one that she recognized as he had spoken to her that way as Ladybug only a few times before. It sparked something within her, lighting up her heart. "No, no, I'm not hurt," she wiped her eyes as a new set of tears threatened to fall. "I'm just…um, a little upset, that's all."

Chat Noir felt a tugging in his chest, as if a piece of his heart threatened to fall off and shatter on the ground. He realized that this was the first time he'd ever seen Marinette cry. "That's okay," he gently patted her on the shoulder, but oh how he so badly wanted to pull her in for a hug. "Do you wanna talk about it?"

Her watery eyes looked up at him and she hoped he didn't notice the rosy tint on her cheeks. "Maybe…I dunno," she said before clearing her throat. She looked down at her lap and played with her fingers as she avoided his gaze. "It's kinda complicated."

"That's understandable, I'm pretty used to that," he shot her a small smile. "It's okay, you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to." He lifted a hand up as if to brush a piece of hair behind her ear, then recoiled it back in hesitation. "Just know that I'm here for you."

She looked up at him just long enough to realize that his hand was now near her cheek. His sharp, green eyes widened as he quickly took back his hand, stowing it away behind his back. His cheeks turned a bright shade of crimson and she could feel hers burning with the same intensity.

"Oh, I-I'm sorry," he said quickly, nearly stumbling on his words. "It's just that, um, wow." He paused and took a deep breath. His eyes glanced off to the side as he tried to regain his ability to speak. "It's an instinctive thing, ya know? You're my friend and I hate seeing you so sad…" His eyes moved back towards her, though his gaze stayed towards his own lap. "I just want to make you feel better."

Marinette could feel her entire body becoming as stiff as a board. Any words she wanted to say had let themselves get trapped within her throat. "O-Oh…" was all she could manage before clearing her throat. "If I'm being honest, Chat Noir…" She scooted closer to him, their knees now touching. "I'm already feeling better just from you being here."

If Chat Noir's face wasn't already scarlet enough, he was sure it would melt off by now. Her blue eyes sparkled in the dim light as she smiled at him. He swallowed the lump in his throat. "I'm really glad to hear that," his voice was deep, yet soft enough to reach her inner core. He smiled back at her, delighted that his energy had been enough to soothe her. "Well, I think I'd better let you get some sleep."

She took notice of the faint sadness in his expression and gave him another soft smile. "Thank you for just being here," she whispered. "Goodnight."

It took everything in him to not lean in to give her a goodnight kiss. "Goodnight, sweet dreams," he said to her softly before opening the hatch to her room. He jumped out, landing back on her balcony and closing the door behind him.

He leaped up onto the fence, looking back at her door with a solemn expression. "I love you," he whispered to himself softly before pulling out his staff and leaping away.

Marinette laid back on her bed, staring intently at the hatch on her ceiling. Ever since that night, she had anticipated yet another surprise visit from the superhero. Tikki had spent the past few hours teasing her for it, but now she laid passed out on a pillow.

Just the mere thought of him sent her heart into a frenzy. She had always liked Chat Noir and enjoyed his presence, but now it was as if her feelings for him had gotten stronger. Everything felt a bit strange at first as her mind shifted from Adrien to her superhero partner.

Somehow though, it still felt so right.

She nearly jumped out of her skin as a knock came from the other side of her hatch. She wobbled and her knees nearly gave out as she reached up to quickly open the small door. Just as she had hoped, a pair of glowing green eyes met her from the other side.

"Hey," Chat Noir said in a soft voice. "Can I come in?"

Marinette fell back onto her bed, but kept her focus on him. "O-Of course," she muttered, her voice growing small. "I'm so happy to see you."

He felt his face beginning to heat up as he slipped inside and plopped down next to her. "I, um, me too." He said, looking away from her as the blush grew on his cheeks. "Wait, I mean, I'm happy to see you , too, heh."

Both of their lips curled into awkward smiles that complemented their matching rosy cheeks. Any hint of tension immediately left the atmosphere.

Marinette giggled. "I know what you meant, it's okay," she allowed one of her hands to subconsciously creep towards his hand that lay on his knee.

Chat Noir sat up straight and cleared his throat. "A-Anyway, not only did I want to check up on you again," he turned away from her slightly and nervously rubbed the back of his neck. "But I also brought you a little something."

Her eyes immediately lit up, shining as bright as the stars above them. "Really?!" A hand flew to her chest, her fingers spreading out as her face formed a surprised expression.

His heart fluttered him her enthusiasm. "Yes," he smiled as he began unzipping part of his suit. "It really hurt me to see you so sad the other night, so I wanted to get you a little something." He reached into his suit and gently pulled out a little orange and white hamster plushie. "I'm sorry I couldn't get you the real thing, but I hope this is just as good."

Marinette swore that she felt a single tear run down her cheek. Her hands took it from his grasp, the soft fur rubbing gently against her fingertips. She brought it up to her chest, hugging it close to her. "It's more than enough," she says to him. "I love it, thank you so much."

He scooted in closer to her. "You're very welcome." He had hardly noticed that at some point, his eyes had wandered down towards her lips. Her soft, pink lips which sparkled from her glittery lip gloss. Her lips, which he oh so secretly wished to be on top of his.

She had also failed to notice that their own faces were now mere inches away from each other. She could feel his soft, warm breath on her skin as their noses touched.

Their eyes closed, bracing for impact, when suddenly…

"Marinette! Time for dinner!"

Their eyes shot open as the sound of Tom's voice echoed throughout the room. Marinette put her hands to her cheeks as she jumped back, the burning sensation tickling her palms. Chat Noir stared back at her, his face completely crimson with a puzzled expression.

"Oh, um, looks like I gotta go now," she said, staring up at the ceiling to avoid his gaze. "I'm sorry."

"No worries," he gave her a soft smile. "I probably should get going, too." He reached up, his fingers gently brushing against her shoulder as he tucked a loose piece of hair behind her ear. "Until we meet again."

She bit her lip as she watched him begin to stand up. As soon as he turned around, she grabbed his tail and gently tugged on it. He looked back at her, his mouth opened slightly.

Without hesitation, she stood up and let her quivering lips collide with his burning cheek. Once his green eyes met her blue ones again, she said "Thank you again."

A gloved hand flew to his cheek and his eyes glistened in the moonlight. "It was nothing," he swallowed hard as he forced his eyes to leave her sight. "Have a good night, Marinette."

Just as quickly as he had arrived, he drifted off into the night.

Adrien swore that he'd never wash that cheek ever again.

This was actually my first Marichat fic and I was actually really excited to write it, despite that one being my least favorite side of the Square. I think they were just so cute in season 5 😌 Please make sure to check out the original fic as it's a super cool concept! Until next time!
