Dave had just raced back from the store with groceries for his date with Julie, and was expecting to do some major cleaning. He opened the door, ready to get to work, but to his surprise, it looked like he didn't need to clean at all. The cabin looked spotless! Dave looked around, baffled. How did the cabin get so clean, so fast? He found his answer soon enough.

"In case you were wondering, yes, we also do offices as well", said a voice from behind Dave.

"I have to admit you guys cleaned up nice", said Dave. He stop abruptly when he saw the boys in dapper looking handmade suits.

"I guess the cabin isn't the only thing that got cleaned up", chuckled Dave. The boys brushed themselves off, proudly.

"Well, we chipmunks are notoriously tidy", said Simon. As he said that Dave opened the fridge to put up his groceries, only to find the mess that once covered the cabin, in the fridge.

"...Yeah, I see that", said Dave as the boys awkwardly giggled. Alvin began to wonder.

"Why did we do that, again?", thought Alvin, but shrugged it off. Theodore was the first to notice sweet smelling aroma coming from the bags Dave brought in.

"Hmmm", he said, "Those breadsticks smell great! When's dinner?" Dave looked at them with unsure looks. Before he could say anything, he slightly tripped on what used to be three of his best suits.

"Uhm, guys?", he sighed, "I don't how to say this, nicely, but this dinner is just going to be Julie and Me." The boys' expressions fell. They'd cleaned the house and bought nice suits just to be told they weren't invited to dinner.

"I-It's not that I don't want you here!", Dave explained, "Trust me, I do! But I've been planning this for a while, and I'm really nervous. I don't want to do anything to ruin it." The boys looked at each other.

"You want us to stay out of the way?", Alvin asked.

Dave nodded, "If you could, I'd really appreciate it."

"So, you're telling us we can't..."
"Nope."
"Even if we..."
"No way!"
"But we thought it would be..."
"And no!", Dave said. There was no mistaking the seriousness in Dave's tone.

"Alright, in you go!", Dave exclaimed as he herded the boys into their bedroom, "I'll let you out when I'm finished. Promise!"
"W-Wait!", Theodore cried, "Can you at least save us some..."
Dave didn't let him finish. He slammed the door in their faces before Theodore could get the word "breadsticks" out of his mouth.
The boys slumped dejectedly on the bed and let out a long, mournful sigh.
"What a drag," muttered Alvin.

Dave's date with Julie was going well so far. All of the chipmunks were currently out of the picture, and Julie looked like she was having fun. Dave was having a great time, but he had to make sure the chipmunks didn't somehow ruin it.
"I never knew you could cook", Julie said.
"Well, you know", Dave said, bashfully, "It's all about the slow roast. I-it takes a long time, but there's no need to rush."
"Well, I'm impressed," Julie said, placing a reassuring hand on his. There was a bit of silence that followed until Dave decided to break it.

"...I, uh, saw your pictures in the paper the other day," he said, "They look great!"

"Really!" said Julie, excitedly, "Thanks! This photography business is going great. How about you? How's your job?" Dave just remembered that he had another deadline for a new project, but he had been so busy with the landlord, the date, and the "guest" that it had completely slipped his mind.

"...Great. I'm... I'm loving it," Dave lied. Unbeknownst to them, the chipmunks were eavesdropping from behind the bedroom door.

"Yeesh," Alvin said. It was safe to say this date is turning into a bust in their eyes. It seemed to be going well at first, but once Julie mentioned Dave's business, the mood soured quickly.

"How's the date going?", whispered Simon.

"Well...", said Alvin, unsure what to make of it, "It could be worse."

"Ugh!", went Theodore, "I'm SO bored! Why do we have to say in here, again?"

"Because Dave doesn't want us ruining his date", said Simon. Alvin scoffed.

"IF you ask me, The date's been ruined for ages now," Alvin grumbled. He'd had enough and decided to do something about it.

"I'm heading out," he announced. Simon pulled on his should

"What are you doing?!", said Simon, "We're not allowed to leave the room!"

"I'm just going to get us some board games," Alvin explained. "Unless you'd rather do another round of channel-flipping." While he didn't want admit it, Alvin was right. He didn't want to sit around watching Tv for who knows how much longer. Simon groaned and stealthily followed his brothers to the closet across the cabin. As they sneaked closer and closer to the closet door Julie said something that stopped them in their tracks.

"Dave, I think you should quit music and for my Daddy's company", she said.

"That way you can pay the rent on time AND spend some more time in the city with me", she as she nuzzled up against Dave's arm. The boys were completely stunned! They and Dave all loved making music together, and they knew Dave loved it just as much as they did, so why would he just quit like that? Dave sighed.

"I don't know, Julie," said Dave, "Music is my life. It's really hard for me to even imagine just quitting. And on top of that, I don't know the first thing about your dad's business...but..." The boy's faces lit up with concerned curiosity.

"I guess it could definitely make things easier around here," Dave thought aloud, "And I could probably use the extra cash for rent." As Dave continued to think it over, the boys waited anxiously for his answer, frozen in place. Alvin was so distracted that he didn't notice he had opened the wrong door. He turned around and saw a mountain of trash. Then, out of nowhere, the pile started to move.

"...Oh yeah, that's why we did that,"Alvin thought. Just then, the pile of trash came tumbling down, startling Dave and Julie. As the chipmunks popped their heads out from under the trash, Dave and Julie came to see what caused the ruckus.

"KID?!", exclaimed Julie. Dave tried to explain the situation, but Julie was losing it. She was screaming and throwing things at Dave.

"Julie, calm down!", said Dave as the boys huddled behind him", T-They're not kids, per say. Their, uh...chipmunks" Dave could see that explanation didn't help his case. Julie just scoffed.

"Chipmunks Dave, really?!", Julie said, "I can't believe you cheated on me and had THREE kids"

"Look, Julie", said Dave, sternly, "It's really not what..."
"How long?", interrupted Julie, "How long have you had them?!" Dave gulped.

"...T-Ten Years", he said. Julie was appalled.

"TEN Years!", said Julie, "You've been hiding these three boys in your home for ten years and you didn't tell me?!"

"Listen lady", said Alvin as he walked up to her, "IF you could just calm down for a second, I think we can work this out if you give us a chance."

Just then, Alvin tripped over a ball that fell out of the closet. He grabbed the tablecloth to steady himself, but that sent the food flying all over Julie. The room went silent as she stared at Dave with a look that could kill. Julie lunged towards Dave and slapped him.

"Goodbye, Dave!", screamed Julie as she walked out the door and SLAMMED it. The room went silent. Dave sat down at what used to be the date table. The boys felt terrible for ruining Dave's date, but Theodore didn't seem to realize he had done anything wrong.

"...So, can we have the breadsticks, now?", he asked, wide-eyed and innocent . Everyone looked at him with disappointed expressions.

"I was just asking," Theodore said meekly.
Dave groaned and rubbed his head.
