The sun is beating down today; nearly one hundred degrees Fahrenheit, and Kihal feels the exhaustion from deep in her bones. She feels like she's been away too often, and with the distance, she's forgotten just how to adapt to overly hot days, if there is a true way to adapt.

She peers through the window of their little house, across the sand to the ocean, the water lapping at the shoreline, the day outside the house.

"It's warm." Her husband grumbles, as he throws an arm over her waist anyway.

"And you're the one who insists on cuddling." Kihal chides him, playful though.

"We're apart a lot." Mitsuhide grumbles as he sits up, letting his arm drop to the bed beside him, "Did we oversleep?"

"We don't have anything going on today. Enjoy your vacation." Kihal leans over and kisses him on the cheek, before she opts to get up and get dressed for the day anyway.

"We always have something going on. Your dad doesn't need anything?" Mitsuhide eyes her as if he still hasn't adjusted to the sunlight coming in the window.

"Yeah, he thinks his favorite son-in-law should enjoy his vacation."

"I'm his only son-in-law." Mitsuhide retorted, still probably a little sleepy.

"Still his favorite though." Kihal grabs an outfit that she thinks would work fine for the day.

"He isn't worrying about you again, is he?" Mitsuhide watches as Kihal slithers into an outfit that doesn't fit her as smoothly as she thought it would.

"He's always worrying about me." Kihal replied, "And you are too, actually."

"Zen gave me a couple days off, because he's worried about you too."

"Zen gave you a couple days off, because you were driving him insane with your worry."

"You're pregnant. I'm your husband. I can worry about you." Mitsuhide huffed.

"I'm two months pregnant. I barely show. And Shirayuki visits all the time, just in case the doctors here miss something. She's worried too, you know?" Kihal placed a hand on her hip as she stared her husband down.

"Why wouldn't she? Or any of us? We all love you."

"Can everyone stop worrying please? I'm healthy and fine, and the baby's fine." Kihal answered, finally deciding to take a seat back on the bed next to her husband and pull him into a semi-awkward side hug.

"We'll stop worrying after the baby's born." When Kihal gave him a blank stare, Mitsuhide added on, "Probably."

She laughed, shaking her head, "All of Clarines is worried. I'm one person."

"And the baby's another."

"And the baby's another." Kihal parroted back.

"So, two people, two very wonderful people to worry about."

"You're biased."

"I'm honest." Mitsuhide argued, and pulled her into a full hug, arms looped around her to her back, holding her close.

"Okay, you're honest." Kihal answered, head buried on his shoulder, "Very honest too."

"Thank you." Mitsuhide whispered.

"I love you." Kihal snuggled a bit closer; it might be too hot to cuddle, but while she's this close to him she might as well enjoy it, despite the heat.

"I love you too." And Kihal already knows what dorky grin Mitsuhide has on his face even before she pulls away and finally sees it.
