As soon as they made it to JETT Records, Ian had the boys sing and record the song and proceeded to quickly circulate it, make it a big hit in just a few Chipmunks' career skyrocketed! With Ian as their manager, they grew more and more. In just one summer, they've gone from singing in nearby parks to having the chance to perform in a sold-out stadium, later that night. However, as time went on, the boys' relationship with Ian would soon sour over.

Initially, it seemed like "Uncle" Ian and "Cousin" Harry were great for the Chipmunks. They supplied them with toys and allowed them to live in a rule-free environment, as long as they sang whatever Ian wanted. But as time went on, the Chipmunks began to realize the darker side of this arrangement. Ian became overbearing and exploitative, and it became clear that he was only interested in using them to make money. This was really shown during one of their rehearsal.

The Chipmunks:
Get munk'd (go, go, go)
The Chipmunks always gon' get, bunk'd
Hey, hey, hey

C'mon and get hot with The Chipmunks
Hot hot, c'mon and get hot with the munks
C'mon and get hot with The Chipmunks
Hot hot, c'mon and get hot with the munks

Get—

"Cut It, Cut It, Cut It!", said Ian and the music cut abruptly and all the dancers stopped.

"Come on, guys!", exclaimed Ian, "We need to be full of energy and excitement! We need to give the audience a show they'll never forget! I know you can do it! We're the Chipmunks, for crying out loud!"

"I don't think I can practice anymore ", said Theodore, "I'm so tired. I think I'm going to pass out."

"Can we take a five minute break, at least?", said Alvin, "We've been at this, singing the same songs for hours. I'm exhausted, and these outfits are killing me. I feel like I'm suffocating in all this fur."

"And, speaking of the songs", chimed in Simon, "While I do like them, myself , This new direction doesn't feel like us." Ian didn't seem to care.

"Well, You know what I think?", he said, "I think the new direction is PERFECT for today's audience. It's all about today's "New Edge." Theodore tried to protest.

"B-But, Dave said it all about the music," he said. Ian cut him off, getting frustrated.

"You can stop right there, you little furball", he snapped, " I'm not interested in anything about Dave! Dave this! Dave That! Dave! Dave! Dave!" Over the last three months, the boys had been bugging Ian about his promise to call Dave and tell him where they were, but he still hadn't done it. At this point, hearing Dave's name was enough to tick him off. The boys looked at each other worriedly. They knew that Ian was in control at the moment, but they didn't know how to feel about Ian's new approach.

Ian could see he was showing his true colors.

"Look, I'm sorry, guys," Ian sighed, "I know you're still worried about Dave, but you guys are superstars now. We don't have time to deal with small stuff like these. But, you know what? Just for putting up with me these past few months, I'm going to call him. Right. Now." The boys beamed with excitement. They finally get to here from after so long.

"Harry!" Ian cried, snapping his fingers, "Phone!" Harry immediately ran over and handed his cousin the device.
"H-Here you go, Ian, old pal," Harry said. Ian snatched the phone away and pushed Harry back.
The other workers and dancers shook their heads as they watched Ian pretend to dial Dave's number. They knew he wasn't really going to call, and they were all frustrated that he kept leading them on and couldn't do a thing about it. The boys watched excitedly as Ian waited on the phone. The phone "answered".

"Dave?!", Ian said, "It's me, Ian! Long time, no see, I know. Listen, I have with me these three boys that said they know you..."Ian's smile faded as he continued the "conversation" with Dave.
"R-Really?" he said. "Just like that? You don't even want to... Dave? Dave?!"
The boys looked worried as Ian heaved a deep sigh.

"W-What happened?!", said Theodore.

"Bad News, guys", said Ian, "But, it seems like Dave is... happy that you guys aren't around."
The boys were distraught and confused. They thought Dave loved them. And when he had the chance to see them, he doesn't anything to do with them.
"N-No", said Alvin, "No, that can't be right! Dave wouldn't be happy that we were gone."
"I-It's not right", added Simon, "He's our dad. He loves us." Ian shrugged.
"That's what he said", he replied, "I don't know, maybe he's just moved on with his life and doesn't want to be bothered. Maybe he's better off without you guys."
Theodore started to cry.
"N-No", he sobbed, "He loves us."
Simon and Alvin hugged him close. They didn't want to believe that Dave didn't want them anymore, but they didn't know what else to think. Ian joined in on the hug.

"There, There", said Ian, "It'll be alright. Uncle Ian's here for you."

"And so is Cousin Harry", said Harry, welling up with tear and trying to join on the group hug.

"Not the time, Harry", said Ian, pushing Harry away with his foot.

"S-Sorry", said Harry.

"Come on", said Ian, "Let's go on that break you were talking about."A cold smile unknowingly spread across his face. He had the Chipmunks right where he wanted them. All he had to do now was keep them separated from Dave, and they'd be under his thumb forever. As Ian and the boys walked by, Ian paused and showed something to a security guard. It was a picture of Dave from back in college.

"David Seville", whispered Ian, "Sometimes goes by Dave. Remember the face and Name. Do NOT let him near the boys." The security guard nodded and Ian and the boys disappeared down the hall.

Back in the woods, in his dark, rusty, old cabin, Dave, in a depressed and exhausted state, lied on his coach slumped over. After losing his boys, he's became a completely different person, personality wise. Dave miss them so much; He missed Their singing, their jokes, and the chaos they brought to his life. Now he just sits in his broken down cabin, waiting for the record exec to fire him or the greedy landlord to evict me. He's lost the will to live, let alone make music.

As he lied on his couch, he finally turned his TV on to finally let some light.

"In todays Entertainment news, The "Summer of Munk" looks to be coming to end and the boys are ending it with a bang!" Dave looked up in slight confusion.

"The Summer of Munk?", he said. Dave's eyes lit up as he stood up from his couch. On the TV screen were Alvin, Simon, and Theodore, dancing and singing in front of a crowd of thousands. Dave couldn't believe! His boys were ALIVE!

The reporter gushed, "The local music scene has been blown wide open by the youngest and freshest sensation to hit the stage, and it's all thanks to their manager/producer, Ian Hawke, or 'Uncle Ian' as the boys call him."
"Ian?!" Dave exclaimed.
"How did he find them?!",he wondered.

The news anchor continued, "The music mogul reports that the trio are excited to be starting their world tour at the Orpheum Theatre tonight. The tour will wrap up at the end of summer."

Dave was in shock, and a little bit angry. Dave and Ian go way back to college, but things fell apart after Ian manipulated Dave and stole a huge business deal from him. Could Ian have tricked the boys too? There was only one way to find out. Dave grabbed his keys and jacket and raced to the Orpheum Theatre.

Dave was on a mission...

to get his boys back.
