It was Friday, the day that heralded the weekend and all students rejoiced it's arrival. It was also the day that one Marinus Leviathan found himself sitting in homeroom eyeing the very pretty brunette that had arrived with one Issei Hyoudou.
'So it's that time already.' He thought to himself as he idly chatted with Aika.
It had only been a few days since he had claimed the bespectacled girl as his and in that time nothing had really changed. Aika had shown up to school the next day with a skip in her step and happily chatting away with Marinus as if nothing had happened. That was until they had a moment alone and she was suddenly very willing to repeat the process once again.
It seemed Tempest Jewelry did something akin to a rewrite of its victims brain. In this case Aika was aware I was her master and her job was whatever I said it was. Now that's not to say she couldn't think for herself, no she could. It was just that she would happily do whatever I said. Other than that she was the same old Aika that liked to be a pervert and tease others.
Other than Aika nothing else has changed in the last few days except for him getting ten credits for completing the Tutorial quest. What time wasn't spent at school was spent teaching Ruruko and Koneko or training. If he was being a little boastful he had made great progress in all three areas.
Ruruko was now at least seventeenth in her overall class rankings. How that changed so drastically over only a four day period? He had no idea. For her part Koneko was now doing much better in history and had even gotten his help with literature some.
Thinking of the white haired devil he couldn't help but frown just a little. If he was honest his lures effectiveness on Koneko seemed to grind to a snails pace due to the other members of her little club sticking close to the pair.
Speaking of, the effects of [Don't Stand So Close to Me] had also become much more apparent, at least in Ruruko. Being the student that he spent the most time with she was easily the most influenced. More often than not he leaned over her to check an answer or his hand brushed hers and it sent the girl into a blushing mess.
She had also showed a very obvious eagerness to be 'rewarded' for her excellence in class. More often than not these rewards came in the form of a special food of her choice. Sometimes he had also used some form of physical contact like a hug or a head pat to encourage her.It went to show that his lure had been far more effective on Ruruko than Koneko.
That wasn't to say there was no reaction from the white haired girl. It had become commonplace for her to happily steal his food or use his lap as a seat. At first he had wondered if he should be worried about doing so in front of Rias, but the heiress seemed to find it absolutely adorable. Honestly, there were moments Marinus wondered if Rias saw the girl more as a pet than a person.
Anyway, now here he was watching as Issei showed of his future executioner to his buddies. With a shrug the hidden devil went back to talking with Aika. He wouldn't intervene in Hyoudou's death, instead he'd wait for his little fallen to finish capturing before he made any moves.
Sona Sitri was not happy. She had hoped that after a few days Rias' interest in Marinus Levian would dissipate. Unfortunately it had not, if anything it had only grown in the past week. Adding on top of that was the fact that there was a fallen angel on school grounds, so no, she was not a happy person. That was why she was now sitting across from Rias once again in as many days.
"I would still like to recruit Levian to my peerage." Rias stated calmly.
Sona couldn't blame her, not really, she had seen the aftermath of the little scuffle their transfer student had with a fallen. The ground had been scorched and there had been plenty of property damage they had to cover up. The worst part? It had only been done with a single spell.
Rias' familiar had witnessed the tail end of his little encounter and had heard his own musings on the matter. A single spell rendered a fallen angel immobile and near death. Personally, Sona wouldn't of had a problem had he finished the fallen off. Adding that encounter to the skill he showed in kendo against Kiba and the wonders he was working with tutoring and Marinus Levian was looking like a very well rounded individual.
"I'm afraid I would still like him in mine as well." She replied evenly. "Besides don't you still intend on taking in Hyoudou?"
"I could ask the same about you, didn't you just recruit Genshirou." Rias shot back almost immediately.
"Well why don't we here from some of our peerage members. They've interacted with him some this week." Sona stated. After all this meeting wasn't like their last one, where they had only their queens. No, now the pair were joined by each of their respective peerages.
"I agree, Kiba why don't you go first." Rias stated as she turned to her knight.
Kiba took a step forward as he thought over exactly what he wanted to say. "Levian-san strikes me as the type to look out for himself. Whichever peerage tries to recruit him, he will bargain for his full worth." He stated before returning to his position.
Sona nodded to that, as it were the student council would already owe him a good sized favor for his current work with Ruruko. Rias for her part couldn't really see it as she had not had to bargain for his help with Koneko.
"Tomoe, what would you say about his combat abilities?" Sona asked her own knight.
The redhead of the Sitri peerage held her chin in thought for a moment. "I thought he could make a pretty good knight, I mean he had Kiba on the ropes before throwing the match." She stated causing her fellow knight to look at her in shock.
"I didn't think he threw the match."
"Oh definitely." Tomoe stated as she nodded her head in affirmation. "He gave you that win, that means not only was he very skilled with a sword, but he's manipulative too." She explained.
For her part Sona looked somewhat proud that her knight had noticed something even Kiba didn't. It also troubled her somewhat at the thought of Levian playing with them, but on some level she could respect it.
"Why would he do that?" Rias asked a little peeved someone took advantage of her knight.
"Isn't it obvious?" Ruruko asked causing the attention to turn to her. She blushed as she realized she had thrust herself in the spotlight accidentally.
"Please explain." Sona asked with something along the lines of mirth in her eyes.
"Marinus-kun is extremely smart, not just in school, but also with people. He's practically a blessing with how good of a teacher he is, not to mention how often I've seen him clean out a bet with someone during gym." She explained.
"That's true, especially the last one." Saji jumped in with a grumble. He had lost two hundred yen to that bastard a few days ago.
Ruruko nodded to her fellow pawn. "Senpai is also obviously a magician given what we know so far. It's obvious he's playing everyone in a bid to ensure his own safety." She finished.
"So by working with both our peerage's..." Rias started as her frown gave way to understanding.
"He's practically forcing us into a bidding war." Sona finished with a smirk.
Sona had to admit she hadn't come to that realization herself until recently and had to praise Levain for his plan. Regardless of if either heiress wanted to deny him the satisfaction, they virtually couldn't. He had made himself far to valuable as a potential piece to do anything of the sort.
Of course, that meant that he couldn't really go to either of them for something least he drop the ball with the other. They could go to him though, as a contracted magician. Sona sighed in slight annoyance, they were caught in a tug of war and not playing wasn't an option.
"Maybe we should confront him?" Rias asked obviously having come to the same conclusion as Sona.
"I agree." Sona replied. "It's obvious he's very carefully played his cards, now I suppose it's time to work with him."
Marinus P.O.V
The day passed by pretty normally after homeroom all things considered. As the bell rang for lunch I was just leaving the classroom when I nearly bumped into Ruruko.
"Oh Ruko-chan, what are you doing here?" I asked a little confused.
She blushed at the nickname I had given her during our last tutoring session as she answered. "I came to get you senpai, madam president wanted to talk with you." She explained.
"Okay, lead the way." I told her with a shrug.
The ensuing trip to the student council office was quite as my adorable kohai led me down the halls. When we stood outside the doors to the council room I frowned a bit as there was a large concentration of demonic energy on the other side. When Ruruko entered I was able to see just why that was.
Inside the room was every single devil that attended Kuoh. Sitting on one couch were the kings while their entire peerages stood together behind them.
"I brought him." Ruruko stated as she walked over to join her peerage.
"Thank you Ruruko." Sona replied not taking her eyes off of me.
"Well this is nice and definitely not passive aggressive as hell." I stated blandly as I took the couch opposite of the two kings.
"Dude, read the room." Saji said out of habit.
"Eh, why bother. Theres certainly something on everyone's mind." I replied.
"There is." Sona stated. "You've been playing games with us Levian-san." She stated more than asked.
I could help but raise an eyebrow wondering what she meant. "Oh?" I asked in genuine confusion.
"Yes, you have." Rias stated. "You've known all along that we lead two separate groups and have been keeping tabs on you." She explained.
"You've practically guaranteed that you are too valuable a potential piece to ignore. Not only that, but you've become increasingly bold." Sona explained as she took out a photo of the aftermath of my little bout with the fallen.
At this point I was genuinely lost. "I'm sorry, what?"
Rias seemed to finally have enough as she stood up and let her wings out. "You knew all along that we were devils! You've been using your 'tutoring' sessions as a way to show off your magic and make each of us fight over you!" She replied with a bit of anger.
There was silence for a moment...and then three...and then seven...until finally.
"Ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!"
I burst out laughing, not just a few chuckles, no I was full on laughing my ass off. It appeared the heiresses didn't take that to well as they started turning red. My laughter continued for a few minutes longer until finally I simply couldn't laugh anymore.
I took a few deep breaths to steady myself as I was still chuckling involuntarily. "I'm...I'm sorry...*heh*...did you seriously think I was trying to start a bidding war between you two?" I asked incredulously.
When they nodded I couldn't help but be sent into another fit of laughter. I had been trying to establish myself as a 'handy man' sure, but I had never said I was only for hire by a single party.
"Oh, oh man it hurts." I choked through some more laughs. Finally I was able to compose myself as I saw two very red and angry heiresses. "Did either of you ever think of asking me about being a magician?" I asked causing both girl to immediately grind to a halt.
"No/no." They answered in unison.
"I was literally clear from day one, my first two hours here in fact, that I offer services for compensation." I explained slowly. "I've even freely used magic in front of you."
"I thought you were talking about tutoring." Sona ground out through clenched teeth.
"Did I ever specify?" I asked.
She chose not to say anything as Rias jumped in. "Then why did you throw your match with Kiba?" The red head asked.
"Because I needed to establish I was willing to work for anyone." I answered simply causing the Gremory heiress to gape at me openly.
"So this whole time, the tutoring, the spar, and everything else in between wasn't just an elaborate ruse to play both peerages?" Ruruko asked hope shining through in her voice.
"Nope." I replied popping the 'p'. "I've literally only been doing my job and establishing my customer base. The fact I've enjoyed it immensely is just a bonus." I replied causing the girl to practically beam at me.
"You're...we...I...huh?!" Sona finally snapped.
"Yep, had either of you asked I would have gladly confirmed the whole magic user thing." I replied.
This wasn't actually how I had wanted the whole magic thing to go, but this was just too much fun. I seriously made them mind fuck themselves without even trying.
"Would you be willing to join either of our peerage's." Rias asked the obvious question.
"Not at all." I replied with a smile. I'm pretty sure they were beginning to hate my smile. "It's far more profitable for me to continue being an independent contractor." I explained.
"Well...I suppose I can live with that, for now." Rias replied.
I nodded as I stood up. "So, will I still be tutoring my kohai?" I asked.
Rias nodded as she looked towards Koneko. "Yes, despite this...misunderstanding, Koneko has done very well under your tutelage."
Nodding I looked to Sona who simply gave me a look that said she was checking out for the day. "Sure, fine, just...get out." She answered.
"Alright, Koneko I'll see you after school for tutoring, Kiba if you want a real match name the time and place, Saji...have some more money for me to win again." I said my goodbyes while leaving.
"Up yours you bastard!" Saji roared causing me to laugh my ass off.
"That's an interesting human." I heard Rias state just as I left the room.
'Heh, you have no idea Rias.'
After my meeting with the devils regarding my...*pft*... 'deception' the rest of the day basically passed by in a flash. It certainly felt no different, even if the devils were now a lot more relaxed around me...except Saji. I swear you take a guys money once and suddenly you're the scum of the earth.
Now some may be wondering what I'm referring too or how I have such a seemingly sour relationship with Saji. Well kiddos it all started two days ago.
Flashback start
Marinus P.O.V
'Shit.' I thought to myself as I looked at the company device.
It was currently gym class and we were once again inside, this time playing dodgeball. I had gotten out a little earlier in the game as I wanted to relax a bit.
It was because of this that I had brought out the company device to see exactly how far along I was in the 'exit stage left' meter. Unfortunately I had forgotten a very crucial detail of my contract. I could only leave the world of DxD if I had completed a standard mission or three quick missions.
Quietly I scrolled through the missions tab looking for something that would be quick and easy. That was when I saw it, the mission that was basically impossible to pass up.
{The Johnny Cage Special by Pleb
Generic mission
Scope: Quick
K, so this job is pretty simple all you gotta do is punch a main character in the nuts ( They need the protagonist tag to count) and you get half their sell value as a reward. This can be repeated as many times as you please but you only get paid once per main character you hit.
Conditions:
It must be a direct hit to the nuts.
The hit must be painful to the character to count.
Reward [other: half the characters sell value in credits.}
Not a moment after hitting accept I was joined by one of my teammates Saji. I looked between him and the person I had in mind for this mission and an evil idea formed in my head.
"Hey Saji, how about a bet?" I asked.
He looked a bit curious, but at the same time cautious. I had started gaining a reputation as something of a gambler and many students were keen on trying to clean me out. Heh, none had succeeded yet.
"What kind of bet?"
"Two hundred yen someone nails Hyoudou in the nuts." I stated holding out my hand.
"Deal." He replied absolutely sure of his victory. After all there was one universal rule with guys and dodgeball always protect the jewels.
"Hey either of you want back in!" Murayama called as she just caught a ball.
With a smirk I jumped up as Saji could only look on in horror, too slow to stop me. With a smile I took an offered ball and called out to Issei.
"Hyoudou~" I sang as I reared back and threw the ball with a great deal of my strength.
Aforementioned victim had barely a moment to look my way before the ball made contact. It was almost glorious watching Hyoudou hit the floor in a heap. Without a second thought I turned back to Saji.
"Two hundred yen Saji!"
"You bastard! That doesn't count!"

Flashback end
Anyway, it went by pretty quickly and now here I was walking home. The days tutoring with Koneko had gone by pretty easily seeing as the girl didn't have a lot of homework this time around. Looking at my phone I smirked it was almost time for little loli-chan to capture. Just as I reached my front door the company device buzzed.
{Captured: Mittelt 6 [81]}
'Ahhhh nothing better than catching a waifu to finish off a school week.' I thought to myself as I entered the house.
"Welcome home master Marinus." Unsurprisingly Celeste was the first to greet me. Not that I was complaining, coming home to an empty house would be boring.
"Thank you, Celeste." I replied as I took off my shoes and set down my bag. "Anything interesting happen today?" I asked causing her to shake her head.
"No, nothing out of the usual." She replied noticing my chipper attitude. "Has something happened? You seem in a rather good mood, perhaps it was another conquest?" She asked already knowing about Kiryuu.
"Yes, but not in the way you're thinking." I replied. "I used the artifact and have just been notified it took effect. I now have a local fallen angel as a loyal follower." I replied causing her to smile a bit wider.
"How lovely, I do hope she doesn't break too easily." She replied forcing me to suppress a shiver.
"Down girl, this one's mine." I replied firmly.
"Perhaps I could join the fun?" Celeste asked while leaning down a bit. I couldn't help but notice the way the movement caused her chest to jiggle a bit.
"Absolutely, it would definitely give me a start with repopulating the house." I replied with a smirk. I could only imagine the possibilities of a devil wielding the powers of both house Leviathan and house Belphegor.
Celeste smiled happily as she kissed my cheek. "Thank you for the kind words master, but it is almost dinner time." She stated as she walked towards the kitchen with a sway to her hips. With a smile I happily drank in the sight until she was out of view.
"Oh, welcome home Marinus."
Turning around I saw that Momo was just coming up the stairs from the basement. It was something of a must when we bought this house that we remodeled the basement into a training room.
"Afternoon Momo, doing some training?" I asked to which she nodded with a smile.
"Yes, I was getting in a little practice with Tobiume." She replied holding up her sealed zanpakuto.
"You didn't set the basement on fire again did you?" I asked blandly. That had not been a fun experience, especially the amount of people who's memories I had to alter.
"That was one time!" She answered now sporting an embarrassed blush.
"And once was more than enough." I replied causing her to pout.
"Anyway, I wanted to get some training in. Since I can't hunt strays openly this is all that I can really do." She explained.
I thought for a moment before I happened to have an idea. "What would you say if I let you go on a different kind of hunt?" I asked causing her to look a bit intrigued.
"Oh, what did you have in mind?"
Taking out the company device I quickly typed in what I was looking for and beckoned for her to come look.

"There's nothing in the mission preventing retinue members from completing it for me, so why not see if I found a way to exploit the system." I stated with a smirk causing her to nod.
Originally I had planned on just letting Issei die, but this would give me a good chance to fulfill my mission requirements to leave DxD. It would also be a good way of grabbing what would essentially be a free sacred gear for either Momo or Mittelt.
"Should I fulfill the additional objectives of the mission as well?" She asked.
"No, as much as it pains me to lose a chance at a copy of the Boosted Gear it would only cause more headaches than it's worth. As for the first additional objective, it really wouldn't be giving us anything worthwhile." I answered causing her to nod.
"How should I handle the fallen angel?"
"Scare her off, defeat her, or whatever you wish, but she can't be killed. That obviously means she shouldn't be captured by the devils either." I replied causing her to nod in understanding.
"I'll see it done master." She replied happily.
"Alright, well then since Celeste is working on dinner why don't we get some Kidō practice in? I really what to get Shitotsu Sansen down." I suggested to which she eagerly agreed.
Regular P.O.V
It was afternoon the next day when Momo Hinamori found herself shadowing one Issei Hyoudou. As she flash stepped from roof to roof a safe distance from her target she couldn't help, but be just a little annoyed.
One of the greatest downsides to this world, in her opinion, was the immense spiritual connection most normal humans had. Whether it was the God of the Bible's doing or something else she wasn't sure, but most normal humans were born with just enough spiritual energy to see shinigami.
It was for this reason that she had to keep her spiritual pressure at an all time low to avoid detection while also staying out of sight. It was something of an arduous process that would have been unnecessary in her home world. Suddenly she felt a small spike of spiritual energy approaching causing her to hide.
She watched as a woman wearing a bat-like costume walked towards her target. She said a few words to him before handing him a piece of paper and walking off.
'That was the Gremory heiress' familiar.' She thought to herself before sensing another presence approaching. This time it was her secondary target, the fallen angel Raynare, disguised as a human girl.
Momo took a breath as she mentally prepared herself for the afternoon to come. As she watched her targets leave she set out in pursuit. As the day progresses she had to admit that it seemed rather tame all things considered.
The boy, Issei, took the fallen out to eat and do some shopping at various stores. If she didn't know any better she would have assumed the pair to be a legitimate couple. It was only towards the end of the day, when the sun was beginning to set, that the fallen finally led Hyoudou to a more secluded location.
They now stood in the middle of an empty park by a water fountain. Having no rooftops to hide on Momo chose to get close to the pair. Hiding behind a tree she could just barely make out their conversation.
"Hey Issei could you do something for me to commemorate this date?" Yuuma asked.
"Sure what is it?" Issei asked.
"Could you die for me?" She asked.
Issei was stunned for a moment as he started stuttering. "C-could you say that again I think I miss heard you."
Raynare suddenly grew a pair of black feathered wings. "Would you die for me?" She asked as she formed a light spear and threw it at him.
"Snap Tobiume!"
However before the spear could connect it was destroyed by a fire ball that detonated upon impact. The resulting explosion threw Issei and Raynare backwards allowing Momo time to strike.
"Hado #1: Shō." Pointing her index finger at Raynare the fallen angel had only a moment before a surge of energy slammed into her sending her backwards.
As she laid on the ground Raynare looked up at her attacker as she grit her teeth. "Who the hell are you?!" She questioned angrily as she stood.
"Someone who has been ordered to see to the survival of your target." Momo replied as she formed several more fireballs with Tobiume. "I suggest you withdraw."
"Fuck you!" Raynare replied as she formed and threw a light spear.
It met the same fate as the first, only this time there were more fireballs that hit where Raynare would have been staying as she suddenly shot into the air.
"Hah, not so smug now are you human?" She asked condescendingly.
Momo simply smirked before she disappeared from view. Raynare's eyes widened however she didn't have a moment to speak before she found herself struck from behind.Free falling the fallen angel just barely caught herself before crash landing in the fountain.
"Hado #4: Byakurai." Unfortunately she crashed into it anyway when pale blue lightning shot from Momo's fingertips slamming into her.
"Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!"
Her screams drew to near threatening proportions as she was electrocuted by the water. When her screams stopped her body fell limp, it was only because she could still see her chest moving that Momo knew she hadn't killed the fallen angel. As Momo approached the down fallen she jumped back just as a yellow light spear missed impaling her.
Looking up she saw that another fallen had joined the party. This time the fallen appeared to be an older woman with long blue hair wearing a business suit.
"It seems Raynare had more trouble than she bargained for. It's lucky that I was here to clean up her mess." She stated causing Momo to look towards where she had last seen Issei.
She mentally berated herself as she saw that he was now laying in a growing pool of his own blood. She could only hope that Marinus was right and that the company took missions literally word for word. If not she was in very deep shit when she got home.
"With his death there's no longer a reason to continue this fight." Momo stated simply as she used flash step to retreat.
The blue haired fallen smirked as picked up Raynare and flew away. Just as both parties disappeared a red magic circle formed by Issei's body. Meanwhile in the distance two figures watched the events unfold.
Marinus was not happy with what he had witnessed. It was only the notification from his company device that prevented him from outright punishing Momo immediately. A second fallen angel in the vicinity had been unlikely, but it was still a possibility.
He took a deep breath as he thought about it more rationally. Momo was ordered to protect Issei from Raynare and it was likely that she saw the best way to do that was neutralize the threat. It appeared that she put the spirit of the order above the letter. He would need to be careful of that in the future, least he accidentally get one of his retinue killed.
Mittelt stood beside her master suppressing a shiver as she saw the look in his eye. He had found her earlier in the day, almost easily thanks to her jewelry, and had very kindly explained her purpose. Of course she wondered why upon seeing the bastard that had nearly killed Dohnaseek she felt happiness, but he was glad to clear that up.
He had her, she was captured by him and with a click of a button she could be whisked away to parts unknown forever forgotten. He was 'fair' as he made her an offer she couldn't refuse. Be his and live for him and he would give her strength she could only dream of.
Of course she could also feel the underlying threat. That obviously being 'be mine or be forever forgotten as a nobody'. With those two choices she obviously chose to turn her back on Raynare and her group. Well she would have if her master wasn't crystal clear that she was now his spy.
"Mittelt." Marinus started getting his newest additions attention. "Return to the church, when Asia Argento arrives find a way to notify me discretely. You'll also be receiving a sacred gear soon, do not use it until I give you permission." He ordered causing Mittelt to excitedly stand at attention.
'A sacred gear?! This soon!?' She thought excitedly. "Yes sir!" She replied before flying off towards her groups base of operations.
Marinus watched her leave with a small smirk, low tier fallen angels were so easy to manipulate. A little show of power here and a promise of the pie and suddenly they would do whatever you wanted. With that thought in mind he opened up his company device to see his notification.
{Pervert Protection Time! [Completed: [other] Template Stacking I of regular sacred gear.}
With a delighted smile he saw another notification on what to do with the template. He quickly chose Mittelt and selected the sacred gear he had in mind. Seeing his work done Marinus put the device away and turned to start heading home as his smile slowly faded.
He would need to think over if he should punish Momo. Sure she completed the mission, but it was on a technicality. Had the mission been to prevent Issei's death in general it would have been a failure.
ding*
Hearing a text notification from his actual phone Marinus paused to see who would be messaging him at this hour.
Rias: Can u come 2 the clubroom tomorrow? We need 2 talk.
"Fuck." Was his only statement as he shot off an affirmative reply to Rias. This would be a fun conversation to have.
