Hey everyone Hyde here with a quick poll, Pokémon or Moemon?
I plan on introducing one of the two as familiars in the next chapter, but I'm having trouble deciding so I thought why not ask you guys. For those that don't know Moemon is a Rom hack that turns your Pokémon sprites into Pokémon waifus.
Next chapter will be out next week to give me time to tally the votes so make sure to let me know!
Marinus P.O.V
It had been a few days since I had come back to Kuoh with Amber in tow and that time had been relatively peaceful. The devils hadn't bothered me over the weekend and the fallen had stayed quite since Momo's fight with Raynare. So it wasn't overly shocking when the middle of the week came and I was greeted by a jubilant Mittelt at my front door.
"Good morning master, I have good news." She greeted with a smile.
"Oh, do tell Mittelt." I instructed as I stepped out of the house and started walking towards school.
"Asia Argento has reached Kuoh." She stated simply before she frowned. "There is, however, unfortunate news. The priest that was supposed to bring her to the church lost her on the way." She explained.
I simply nodded as I reached over and pat the shorter girl on the head. "Good work Mittelt, you'll be rewarded when this mess is dealt with." I informed her.
Mittelt didn't respond as she simply blushed at the praise and accepted the head pat. After a few minutes she left heading back to the church to avoid arousing suspicion. I smirked as I continued on towards school, but with a little detour.
As I walked towards a park I kept an eye out until I saw a familiar blonde suddenly trip over her own two feet. When she hit the ground I was greeted by a very nice panty shot and her luggage practically exploding.
With an internal smirk I walked over to her as she started gathering her luggage. From the corner of my eye I could see Hyoudou was about come as well, but he stopped when he saw me. I swear nail a guy in the nuts once and he never forgives you.
"Are you alright miss?" I asked to which she looked to me practically beaming.
"You speak Italian?!" She asked to which I nodded.
"I do, are you having trouble?" I asked gesturing to her scattered clothes. She shyly nodded and I smiled as I started helping her pick up her things.
When we finished she gave a slight bow. "Thank you for your help, my name is Asia Argento."
"Marinus Levian, the pleasure is all mine Asia." I replied before taking out a bracelet with an emerald. "Here this should help with your ability to understand the local language."
"Ah?! Th-there's no way I could accept such a thing." She replied flustered.
"Please I insist." I told her holding out the bracelet.
After a few moments she hesitantly took it and put it on. "Thank you for your gift. May god bless you." She said as she put her hands into a prayer.
I fought the ensuing surge of pain as she prayed in my presence. Honestly it wasn't anything major just a minor headache, but it was still annoying. On the outside however I kept up a smile as I allowed her to finish.
I know a lot of people are divided on where they stand with Asia. On one side you have the simps that love her because she's another girl in DxD. On the other you have those that hate her because she's practically useless.
Personally, I don't feel all that strongly about her either way. If it wasn't for plot convenience I would probably leave her for Rias to deal with, but I wasn't having it. I needed a legitimate reason to launch an attack on the fallen angels and Asia would provide it. I would keep her around afterwards and find something suitable for her to do.
"Are you perhaps lost?" I ask already knowing the answer.
"Yes, I was sent to this town to work at the church, but the language made it difficult." She replied a bit sullenly.
'Oh come on that's like kicking a downed puppy!' I thought to myself as I watched.
"I know where the church is would you like me to show you?" I asked to which she had stars in her eyes.
"Yes please! God really does guide the way." She replied excitedly.
With a chuckle we started off walking towards the abandoned church when we came across a boy who had scrapped his knee. I was more than familiar with this scene and only smiled lightly as I watched Asia walk over and heal his knee.
I did frown at the woman who called Asia strange and usher the boy away. While Asia said that it was okay I couldn't help, but frown. I think I took Asia as a plot point a little too literally.
I had almost forgotten that her entire life had basically been the church and nothing but that. To top it off she was kicked out when she literally did what she was taught and helped someone in need.
That settled it, when all this crap was over with I'm taking Asia. Fuck Rias she can find another bishop somewhere else. When this shit with the fallen angels is over I'll be keeping Asia with me.
As we kept walking towards our destination I kept up a smile as I made conversation with Asia.
School was...boring these last few days. I mean nothing had really changed since the world's timeline had literally been put on pause while I was on Remnant, but still. It was a bit of a bummer to go from cutting lose and flexing on some idiots to hiding in plain sight again. Although I did have one new development that struck my fancy. Aika was being harassed by some our classmates.
It wasn't anything serious or immediately harmful, but it was small stuff. A bump here, an off handed comment there, and a smart ass remark every great now and then. All things that when seen individually can easily be seen as nonsense. When taken all together however... It was a different story.
According to Aika the main causes of this would be her jewelry. It wasn't a major secret that she and I were very friendly with each other and apparently some girls weren't too happy the female pervert was getting such attention. Most of it was just idle prattle and gossip that was a slight annoyance. There were however two individuals responsible for this that actively sought a reason to harass the bespectacled girl.
Katase and Murayama, the famed kendo duo and two of the more popular girls of our year. For the most part they were average when compared to a supernatural swordsman and for that reason I had left them alone. Now, however, they had put themselves into my crosshairs.
Make no mistake, I wasn't doing this because they were bullying a student. For crying out loud I had done so much worse on school grounds already. I was doing this because of who they were doing it too. Aika was mine and I'll be damned if I was going to let two jealous bitches screw with what was mine.
Apparently they had never really known how to handle Aika since she was very open with her ideas and opinions. It was only now that she was something of a subject for gossip that they had thought it a good idea to act on jealousy. What was the gossip that led to this?
Apparently a good number of the average student body thought the two of us were a couple. Those that didn't think we were dating at least considered us friends with benefits. This latest bit of gossip, courtesy of Issei's two friends, had made Aika a bit infamous for getting with a transfer student within a week of his arrival.
For her part Aika didn't even mind most of the attention. According to her it was nice to not been known only as a pervert and she had even been included more by most of the female population. It was only the Kendo duo that really gave her any flak.
According to her it was because both had made themselves seemingly unapproachable by their over the top reactions with the perverted trio. Because of that neither one, according to Aika, could be open about their own desires. This was mainly out of fear of being seen as perverts themselves.
Yeah, it didn't make sense to me either, but I really don't give a fuck. I survived too much high school bullshit in my previous life to even bother with it in this one. The only thing that mattered was that they were messing with Aika and I couldn't have that.
Normally in this situation I would get them alone and spend some quality time breaking them until capture, but where was the fun in that? Sure Tempest Jewelry had plenty of fun features that could be used to make sure they learned their lessons, but I wanted a challenge.
Aika had already done the legwork for me and gotten what I needed over the past few days. While I smirked evilly in my head I watched the two in gym class as they went about their day normally.
When the teacher blew their whistle loudly calling for all activity to stop I let a smirk show.
"Levian, Katase, Murayama, get the equipment and return it to the storage shed." They said.
No one had a second thought about it as for once three people started cleaning up instead of the usual two. When the three of us had finally gathered up all of the equipment that had been used outside that class we took it into the outside storage shed. As I held the door, like a gentleman, for my classmates I smirked wickedly as I closed the door behind us silently locking it.
With the three of us in the shed I waited until they we were almost done putting away the equipment before I pulled out my phone and hit play. The two gave me a curious glance and got back to work until they heard what I was playing.
"Geez did you see Aika with that stupid bracelet again?" The voice of Katase asked.
"Yeah how could I not, she wears it every day." Murayama's replied.
"She thinks just because she spread her legs for a transfer student she's something now. Why does everyone even care about her?"
"Because she's just that sad, I mean can you imagine what your life would be like if you were that obsessed with sex?"
Snickering could be heard before the voice of Katase spoke up again. "Hey...I have an idea." The voiced spoke while trying not to laugh. "Let's write a fake suicide note and sign her name."
Murayama's voice laughed heavily as she replied. "We can leave it in her locker and let it 'accidentally' fall out after gym one day."
Both voices burst out laughing for a minute until Katase spoke. "God she'll be so mortified I doubt she'll show her face the rest of the year!"
"Good it's an eyesore anyway." Murayama's replied.
I cut the recording off further before looking at the two who were staring at me slack jawed. It took a few moments before either could speak and when they did it was Murayama.
"Wh-where did you get that!" She asked in unmasked terror.
"Aika gave it to me, said she kept it taped to the lockers in the girls locker room because your bullying was getting so bad." I replied evenly as I glared at the two.
"We...we would never do something so horrible!" Katase replied trying to clear their names.
They didn't, I mentally acknowledge while keeping an outward facade of anger. Celeste and I had used magic to change our voices and prepare this ahead of time. The truly terrifying thing was that it was indistinguishable from a real recording of the two.
"Really?! It certainly fucking sounds like it to me." I shouted. I wasn't worried about noise as I had set a barrier like I used with Aika. "I wonder what the school will say about this." I stated causing their eyes to widen in horror.
I couldn't blame them, bullying was a huge issue in Japan and Kuoh treated it with severe prejudice. If I turned in the false recording it's more than likely they would get expelled. From there it was pretty likely they'd never advance further than high school.
"Y-you can't." Katase stammered as quickly grabbed onto my arm. "You have to believe us! We didn't say those things!" She begged.
"Y-you wouldn't, we'd be expelled and my parents...oh god my parents." Murayama held her mouth as she fell to her knees in horror.
"Why shouldn't I?" I asked disbelief clear in my voice.
"W-we...we can..." Murayama stuttered as she tried to find something they could offer.
"I-I...I'll..." Katase started before she seemed to have an idea that emboldened her. "What about a bet?" She asked which caught my attention.
"A bet?" I asked actually a little intrigued.
"Yeah, I've seen you bet literally anything before!" Murayama jumped in.
"Yeah...when there's something I want." I stated cutting them off. "What could either of you have that I want?" I asked.
"Us." Katase said with a massive cringe. Murayama's head snapped to the pinkette so fast I was surprised it didn't kill her.
"Katase!" Murayama yelled in shock.
"Shut up Mury!" Katase yelled at her friend stunning the brunette into silence. "We have nothing okay! I know we didn't do it, but no one would believe us!" She yelled in frustration.
She then looked to me with the most pathetic expression I had ever seen on a human being. "You can decide the bet and we'll do whatever it is and if you win...you can do whatever you want with us until graduation. If we win though you have to get rid of that recording and any copies."
For a split second I was surprised before I squashed it violently. I had been expecting this and knew damn well that if I pushed hard enough they would fold. I was about to agree before I looked at Murayama who had yet to say anything.
She saw the look I was giving her and slowly started nodding. "F-fine I'll...I'll accept it too."
There was a beat of silence as I thought about it, or at least I made a show of it. There was absolutely no way I was going to turn this down, but should I do it now or let them squirm a bit. If I let them stew a bit it was likely that they would do something desperate to appease me and that was...a very tantalizing thought.
"I'll think about it." I said before turning around and heading for the door. They were about to start shouting when I spoke up again. "Meet me here after school tomorrow and I'll let you know my answer. Until then the recording will stay with me." I told them without turning around.
Just as I was about to leave I had a thought and gave them a deadly glare that caused both to shrink away. "If you try anything before then...I'll make sure you're ruined for the rest of your lives." With that I left the pair wallowing in their own despair.
It was a few hours later when I was sat in the occult research clubroom helping Koneko with her last world history question. It had been a good day all things considered, but there's just something about having a cat girl sit in your lap that brings it together. The rest of Rias' peerage were quietly milling about as they did their own things.
"Seriously it's so unfair, first that cute nun and now Koneko?! Why does everyone like this douche?"
Ah, yes I knew I forgot something. Issei was sitting across from Koneko and I on the opposite couch glaring daggers at me.
"Dude, I apologized, besides it was to ro-win some of Saji's money." I told him.
His glare renewed at being directly addressed. "You hit me in the nuts, the nuts! That was way over the bro code!" He replied.
"Issei!" Rias called as she walked into the room interrupting the conversation. "Koneko was accidentally double booked for summonings tonight can you go in her place?" She asked.
"Of course pres!" He replied as he practically jumped up and took the paper.
Realizing what was about to happen I decide to simply sit back and let nature, *ahem* plot, take its course. Not long after Issei leaves I move Koneko off my lap and take a cake out of my pocket space setting it on the table in front of me. Seeing the cake Koneko looks at it with wide eyes and begins to drool a little.
"I figured I'd do something nice since you've been working so hard." I said cutting a piece and giving it to her. She immediately takes a fork full of cake and bites into it.
"Mmmmm~"
Hearing the sounds of Koneko happily eating the cake the remaining members of the peerage look intrigued. I don't know why, honestly, it's not like I haven't been bringing food every so often for Koneko.
"Could we try some Koneko?" Rias asked as she walked towards us.
Koneko stopped eating and looked back and forth between her master and the cake. After a few moments she frowned and begrudgingly allowed the others to eat some. As everyone had a piece I sat back and pat the cat girls head as a reward for sharing. It was a miracle when she shared any of her normal sweets, but one of the cakes I made? That was truly amazing for her to share one of those.
"T-this is incredible!"
"Amazing."
"Ara~Ara~ such a delicious cake, your such a good cook Marinus-kun."
The varying reactions made me chuckle a bit as I hadn't intended to use my lure on most of the ORC. Honestly apart from Koneko to get to her sister and Asia to get at the fallen angels I hadn't planned on capturing any of them. Now most are probably wondering why and I have reasons for each of them. Kiba should be fairly obvious so I'll focus on the two girls.
Rias is too much of a princess for my taste. Sure she's hot and all, but think about how many times she cockblocked Issei because she was jealous. Not to mention she's lazy as hell and don't you fucking simps try to say otherwise.
How long did she know about her engagement to Riser? We may not have an accurate timeline, but it was long enough to actively be looking for peerage members to help her. In that time she could have spent a great deal of effort and work into training herself and her peerage and didn't.
How do I know? It's fucking obvious if you think for two seconds. Kiba can create any type of sword, but all of a sudden he can't make a light sword or one that hinders regeneration? What about Koneko and Akeno, both have abilities that could make taking on Riser a cakewalk.
Were either one willing to do so in canon? Hell no! They were perfectly willing to become Risers slaves and playthings when Rias lost rather than use their powers. For those reasons I don't see any possibility of entertaining Rias in a romantic light.
As for Akeno, well I'm still on the fence about her. I'm sure in the eyes of a child she had legitimate trauma, but it doesn't excuse her. She was absolutely unwilling to use her fallen angel powers even if it meant spending the rest of her life as Riser's pet. Sure part of that could be seen as a lack of diligence on Rias' part, but you have to be willing to work through an issue to get over it.
Now that I think about it she and Koneko had pretty much the same backstory. It was basically 'my significant family member was killed or murdered someone and now I blame the power I have in me'. Sure there were some finer points that made key differences, but the parallels are still there. Speaking of Koneko, the two reasons I'm even bothering to capture her are that she was a favorite of mine and her sister.
So yeah, in short my decision is no for Rias, maybe for Akeno, and yes for Koneko. Probably sounds really stupid when you say it out loud, but eh fuck it. When you get isekaied into a fantasy world then you can capture waifus based on your reasonings.
Deciding to cut my inner monologue short I sit back and enjoy the quite. At least for a few minutes until Rias suddenly stands up obviously worried.
"Rias?" Akeno asked.
"It's Issei, I just lost his location." The heiress replied catching my attention.
"You can sense his location?" I asked.
"Yes, a master can sense the location of their evil pieces at all times. Certain things can cut off that sense...like barriers." She stated as she stood as did the rest of the peerage. "That means Issei is in trouble and likely needs help." She explained as she created a magic circle on the floor.
"Give me the address, I'll head over and give a hand." I stated causing her to raise an eyebrow.
"Hey I still owe the guy for gym last week." I explained simply.
Rias nodded as she quickly wrote down the address and gave it to me. As soon as she was finished the Gremory peerage disappeared in a red flash. I left no long after them using flash step.
It only took me a few minutes to reach the address with my top speed. When I arrived I could feel the devils inside and soon joined them. I walked in just in time to see Rias blow a hole in the side of the building.
"Really Rias?" I asked gaining the attention of the room.
"Marinus?!" I heard the voice of Asia question my presence.
When I looked to her I could see that she was practically naked which angered me greatly. With a flash step I appeared beside Asia and quickly threw my school jacket around her.
"Hey Asia, do me a favor and hang tight." I told her as I started walking towards Freed.
"Oh another devil cu-"
He was immediately shut up as I flash stepped into his guard and struck him in the stomach. The ouch was strong enough that he spat up blood as his body was launched into the far wall.
"You know..." I started as I slowly drew Kyōka Suigetsu. "Normally I make it a point to stay neutral in the whole supernatural pissing match thing, but man do I hate it when someone lays a hand on someone as sweet as Asia."
I was about to attack Freed again when a circle magic circle appeared above him.
"Marinus we need to leave Issei is hurt and the fallen angels are coming." Rias told me causing me to smirk.
"Hey Rias, these fallen have killed people in your territory right?." I asked rhetorically as I already knew the answer.
Rias looked directly at the body Freed had reverse crucified to the wall. "Yes, they have."
"That means it was first aggression on their part." I simply stated.
Rias eyes widened as she realized what I was about to do. "Marinus do-" unfortunately she was cut off as it was at that moment Akeno activated the magic circle they were standing on and disappeared. I blinked as I could swear I saw an evil glint in Akenos eye as she prevented Rias from stopping me.
'Huh, I may have to reward Akeno for that.' I thought to myself just as the fallen angels appeared.
This time it was the entire group consisting of Raynare, Kalwarner, Dohnaseek, and Mittelt. When they appeared and saw that the only ones present were myself, Asia, and Freed they weren't happy. Though Mittelt gave me a curious look as if asking what to do.
"Freed." Raynare bit out the name with disgust. "I told you to only call if the devils were here."
"Oh what's wrong, am I not enough?" I asked sarcasm clear in my voice.
Dohnaseek growled as he formed a light spear. "YOU!"
"Oh! Burnt bitch, what's up?!" I greeted him jovially.
He growled as he reared back and threw the light spear at me. I didn't bother moving as I allowed it to hit me only for my aura to flare as it made contact. When the dust settled there wasn't a single scratch on me.
"Was that supposed to tickle?" I asked before an evil grin formed. "My turn."
They tried to move only for a huge pressure to come crashing down on them. As I released about sixty percent of my spiritual pressure the ground cracked and the walls shook as all the fallen minus Mittelt fell to the floor.
"Fuck this!" Freed shouted as he crawled through hole Rias had created attempting to get away.
I didn't even bother to stop him as I kept my attention on the fallen. Freed could live until Kokabiel made his move and then I'd kill him.
"Mittelt now." I ordered and the aforementioned fallen obeyed.
She jumped back and summoned a blue metal staff with what looked to be metal depictions of fallen angel wings wrapped around a large amber colored crystal. Mittelt pointed the staff at the three and it glowed as a ring of purple fire formed around them. Lines of runic symbols crawled up their skin causing their wings to disappear. Seeing that they were trapped I let off my spiritual pressure and smirked.
"Mittelt! What the fuck are you doing?!" Raynare shouted in unabated anger.
"Isn't it obvious?" I asked as I walked to the circle of flames. "She chose the side that she benefits from. I mean look a week with me and she already has a sacred gear. You, heh, you've had nothing but delusions of grandeur."
"Marinus?" Asia questioned and for a moment I blinked as I looked back to her. Right I had forgotten that she was here.
"Ah, don't worry Asia. They were planning on taking your sacred gear, but thanks to Mittelt we stopped them." I explained causing her eyes to widen.
"Th-thank you lady Mittelt!" She told the smaller fallen in gratitude.
"Sure, sure, can we hurry this up?" Mittelt asked as she was clearly struggling.
I couldn't really blame her as her sacred gear, Trick Vanish, depletes it's users stamina. It does this in order to power itself and seal away its targets abilities for a short time. In this case those abilities are simply the racial abilities of fallen angels. Of course since Mittelt has hardly used her sacred gear she isn't used to the stamina drain, nor does she have that much stamina to begin with.
With a shrug I walk over to the three fallen and deliver a quick kick to each of their heads knocking them out.
"Well that's all wrapped up." I say as I dust off my hands.
"I would agree if it weren't for all the paperwork you've created."
A little surprised at the voice I look towards the hole Freed had fled through to see it was Sona and with her were the Gremory peerage, minus Issei, and Tsubaki. Despite standing in a half destroyed home with three unconscious fallen angels, one conscious loli fallen with a sacred gear out, a half naked nun, and a crucified dead body I simply give her a wave.
"Yo, what's up Sona. Tsubaki you look lovely this evening." I greet nonchalantly.
"Levian-san, you seem to have a penchant for attracting trouble." Tsubaki replied evenly, though I could see the faint smirk she was hiding.
"Eh, I can't complain things would be boring otherwise." I replied with a shrug.
"Yes well, now we can put this matter to rest...permanently." Rias said as she formed an orb out of her power of destruction and aimed it at the fallen including Mittelt.
"Hey what the fuck!?" Aforementioned loli yelled in panic.
"Time out red!" I yelled stepping in front of Rias.
"Marinus?" She questioned only to get flinch as I chopped her in the head. "Owww, why~?!"
"Because one, you were about to vaporize my employee. Two, why kill the three idiots when you can send them off to be useful later on." I informed her as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Employee?" Rias questioned as she looked at Mittelt.
"Yeah you tomato headed ass! I work for him!" She yelled at Rias as she ducked behind Marinus.
"Since when do you have a fallen angel working for you?" Sona questioned suspiciously.
"Last week, met her and turned her to my side." I replied, they didn't need details.
"And just how did you manage to get a sacred gear?" Akeno pointed out glaring at Mittelt.
"I gave it to her." I interjected. There were a good number of judgmental looks thrown my way causing me to sigh in annoyance. "Oh for fucks sake, I didn't kill some poor soul by ripping it out! A rouge exorcist went loony and I ripped it out of him." I explained and everyone immediately calmed down. It was a little disturbing just how easy they accepted that as soon as I said rouge exorcist.
"So what should we do with the other fallen?" Rias questioned.
I could only give her a look that yelled 'bruh'. "Don't you have a satan of foreign affairs?" I asked rhetorically.
"We should kill them." Sona suddenly said with an icy look in her eyes.
"Okaaaaay, we're not doing that, besides I'm sure they can get something useful with these idiots no?" I said.
Sona simply glared at me hoping I would spontaneously combust. It was this reaction that caused Rias to lean over in a stage whisper.
"Lady Leviathan is Sona's sister. She's a little too...clingy if you know what I mean." Rias informed me.
"Ah...major yuri siscon, got it." I replied causing Sona to turn beet red.
"ANYWAY! What about the nun?" Sona asked shifting the conversation back to business.
Before anyone could say otherwise I was by Asia's side giving her a one armed hug. "Dibs! Good news ladies I now provide healing services." I announced before turning to Asia. "So what about it Asia, want to live with me?" I asked to which she nodded happily as tears started forming.
"Yes please!" She replied excitedly.
The heiresses shared a glance before shrugging in acceptance. We spent a few minutes going over the exact details of what would be done with the fallen and how to erase the evidence.
The last one was a good laugh as I got to listen to Rias get chastised for being reckless. When all was said and done I took Asia and Mittelt home.
