It's been a few days since our battle against MagicMan & meeting Chaud & ProtoMan. Today, we were doing some training for the upcoming N1 Grand Prix. Me, MegaMan, Roll, & GutsMan were surrounded by Training NetNavis with guns for hands*
MegaMan: Everyone ready?
Dawn: I'm ready!
Roll: Let's roll!
MegaMan: What about you, GuysMan?
GutsMan: GutsMan pumped. Me want to rumble.
(Gwen's POV)
Yai: Oh goody! MegaMan, Dawn, Roll, & GutsMan are completely surrounded!
Lan: This Battle Training Program is the best thing to get them ready for the N1 Grand Prix.
Maylu: Well, let's hope so. We only have two more days left.
Dex: Ha! No problem. GutsMan's set!
Gwen: Alright! Fire it up, Yai!
Glide appeared on the screen*
Yai: Glide, set it for Training Level 7.
Glide: Training Level 7. It will be my pleasure.
(Dawn's POV)
Glide was observing everything from a tower*
Glide: Training Level 7 engage. Opponents this level, Decimator Navis.
The Navis started firing at us & MegaMan, Roll, & I jumped into the air to dodge*
MegaMan: It's Mega Time!
He fired his Mega Buster*
Roll: Here we go! Roll Blast!
She fired hearts at the Navis*
Dawn: Angel Feather Barrage!
I sent my feathers raining down on the Navis. Our attacked did damage to a lot of them*
Trainer Navis! Logging Out!
Luckily, we left plenty for GutsMan*
GutsMan: Me GutsMan. It my turn! Guts!
He used his Guts Hammer & damage to the rest*
Trainer Navis! Logging Out!
(Gwen's POV)
Dex: That was way too easy, Yai.
Maylu: How about something a little more tough?
Yai: Okay then. Glide. Raise it to Training Level 9.
(Dawn's POV)
Glide: Certainly. Training Level 9 commencing now. *new Navis appeared with drills for hands* Opponents this level, Driller NetNavis.
MegaMan: They're not gonna make swiss cheese outta us!
Dawn: Not if we get them first.
Lan*off-screen* I hear ya, MegaMan!
Gwen*off-screen* I'm ready, Dawn!
(Gwen's POV)
Lan: Let's break up their little drill team! Wide Sword! Battle Chip in! Download!
Gwen: Angel Arrow Battle, Chip in! Download!
The next day, Lan, Maylu, & I were on our way to school when Maysa came up to us on his bike*
Maya: Alright my little buckaroos, have you all had your calcium today? And what about you three, Lan, Gwen, Maylu?
We turned to him & immediately stopped his bike when he saw our tried eyes*
Maylu: Good morning, Maysa.
Gwen: Morning . . .
Lan: How are you . . .
He said that with a yawn*
Maysa: What in blazes in wrong with you three? Didn't you get enough sleep last night?
Lan: We stayed up late training our NetNavis for the National NetBattle Championship.
Maysa: Oh yeah, the One Ton Grand Flea.
Maylu: No, no, no, Maysa. It's called the N1 Grand Prix.
Gwen: Why not come and cheer us on against the NetNavis? Dawn and I are gonna kick some virtual butt.
Lan: Not if MegaMan and I kick yours first.
Gwen: We'll see.
Maysa: Thanks, but no thanks. I'd rather catch up on some reading with my fish magazines than have to sit through one of those boring NetBattles, I tell you.
Ms. Mari*off-screen* Lan! Gwen! Maylu!
Her shout made Maysa jump*
Maysa: Aah! Don't do that!
Our teacher came up to us*
Maylu: Good morning, Ms. Mari. How are you doing today?
Ms. Mari: Just fine. Are you all excited about the N1 Grand Prix coming up? I'm gonna be there to cheer you all on.
Lan, Gwen, & Maylu: Sounds great. Thanks, Ms. Mari!
Maysa: Uh . . . Excuse me, but uh . . . Ms. Mari.
Ms. Mari: Yes, Maysa!
Maysa: I was just telling these three that when I go to the N1 Grand Flea, I'm gonna bring my trusty fish banner along. You know, for good luck.
I rolled my eyes. I knew he was only saying that to impress Ms. Mari*
Lan: No you didn't.
Maysa covered my brother's mouth*
Maysa: Heh, heh. That's okay, Lan. You don't have to thank me. Shucks, it's gonna be the most exciting thing to hit DenTech City. Now, isn't that right, Ms. Mari? *he noticed she was gone* Hey, where'd she go.
He turned & saw her walking away with Maylu. He fell to the ground. Lan took a breath*
Lan: Gotta cut back on you calcium.
Just then, I noticed someone we hadn't seen in a while*
Gwen: Hey, Tory. Long time, no see!
We both ran up to him*
Lan: See you at the N1 Grand Prix, Maysa!
We followed Tori into the school*
Gwen: You're entering the N1 Grand Prix too, right Tory?
Tory: Yeah. If my NetNavi IceMan can make it.
Lan: Why? What else is he doing?
Tory: Oh, he's off helping my Dad solve some problems at the Water Company. The whole system's buggy with viruses.
Gwen: Wow. That's a bummer.
Maylu: But IceMan can't miss the tournament!
Dex came up to us*
Dex: Hey, guys . . .
Lan: What's the matter, Dex?
Dex: I've got bad news. I hear that Higsby's closed up his shop.
Yai: You mean that Battle Chip geek?
Gwen: Now that you mention it, I have noticed it's been closed for the last few days.
Dex: There's a rumor going around that he's giving NumberMan a new upgrade for the N1 Grand Prix.
Lan: Oh wow! That is bad news!
The next day, I woke up with a smile &
Gwen: This is it! Today's the day! *I ran up to my computer, with Dawn already on the screen* You ready for this, Dawn?
Dawn: I'm ready!
I got dressed & ran downstairs. Surprisingly, my brother was also there. We are breakfast with Mom*
Haruka: My goodness, Lan. You've never gotten up this early before.
Lan: I know. But after training night and day for weeks, there's no way I'm gonna be late for the N1 Grand Prix!
Gwen: Me neither.
We both held our our bowls*
Lan & Gwen: Seconds, please?
Haruka: Of course.
We both turned to be family picture while Mom refilled our soup*
Lan: We both sent off an email telling Dad all about it.
Gwen: Where is he anyway, Mom?
Haruka: Somewhere in the Amazon. Knowing your Father, he's probably wrestling crocodiles.
Lan & Gwen: Oh . . .
Lan: Too bad he's going to miss seeing me take the title.
Gwen: You mean me take the title?
My brother gave me a side glare. Suddenly, the doorbell rang*
Haruka: That's strange. Who would come by this early in the morning?
My brother got up*
Lan: I'll get it.
Then I got up*
Gwen: I'll come too.
We both went up to the door. Lan pressed the call button & Higsby appeared on the screen*
Mr. Higsby: It's a catastrophe!
Lan: Higsby, what's wrong?
Mr. Higsby: Lan, Gwen, you've got to help me! It's NumberMan! He's completely out of control!
Gwen: Oh no! Not now!
We met up with Dex & Maylu at Yai's treehouse. On the big screen was a map of the city with red lights in multiple locations*
Lan: I'm telling you, thanks to NumberMan, DenTech City is messed up.
Mr. Higsby: But it's not his fault! If I could find him, I could fix his faulty upgrade! *he ruffled his hair, sending dandruff flakes everywhere* There's gotta be a way to make him normal again!
Dex: Was he ever?
He, Lan, & I jumped off the couch to avoid the flakes*
Gwen: There are shampoos to cure dandruff, you know
Maylu: But to cure NumberMan, you're gonna have to find him first. I know! Maybe you pure him out with a rare Chip.
Just then, it was like Higsby was in a trance*
Mr. Higsby: Rare . . . Chip . . .
Yai: Oh perfect. You shouldn't have said "Rare Chip". Now we've lost Higsby.
Maylu: Sorry.
Mr. Higsby: Oh . . . Rare . . . Ultra Rare . . . Level 3 . . . Premier Chips . . .
All of us were getting freaked out by his muttering*
Lan: Higsby, would you just get a grip!? Now what does NumberMan like anyway!?
Mr. Higsby: Oh! He likes numbers. He loves calculating numbers.
Yai: Calculating.
She thought for a moment & then smirked*
We were watching NumberMan on the screen of Yai's treehouse computer*
Gwen: It worked! He's changing course!
Dex: Man. He's really streaming.
Yai: I had a feeling he'd take the bait. It was simple really. All I had to do was program my computer to calculate Pi.
Lan: Apple or cherry?
I rolled my eyes. My brother the bottomless pit*
Gwen: Lan, Pi is the ratio the circumference of a circle to it's diameter.
Yai: That's right. 3.14159. The number continues forever. Glide, I want to unlock the computer security buffer. It's time to lure NumberMan in.
Glide*off-screen* With pleasure.
(Dawn's POV)
MegaMan, Roll, GutsMan, & I waited in the computer system for NumberMan to appear. He soon did*
Yai*off-screen* Now realese the NetNavi Trainers.
Trainer Navis appeared & dog piled him. Suddenly, he blasted them off him*
NumberMan: Five! Four! Three! Two! One! Delete!
He laughed maniacally. That's when we surrounded him*
MegaMan: Now be a nice NumberMan and go back to your P.E.T.
Roll: Higsby wants to reconfigure your upgrade.
Dawn: Please do as we say, NumberMan. We don't want to hurt you.
GutsMan: Yeah! What she said!
NumberMan: That's really not necessary. I'm just fine. I'll show you with a roll of a dice!
He threw his Doom Dice & it showed a two. Two explosions appeared, we dodged the*
(Gwen's POV)
Dex: That this it!
Lan: This Navi's number is up! Go get him, MegaMan!
Higsby got in front of us*
Mr. Higsby: No! No! Please capture NumberMan without hurting him! If his data's damaged, I can't enter the N1!
Gwen: But you can't enter him like this!
(Dawn's POV)
NumberMan: Now I'm mad!
He threw more dice & we dodged them. The blasts sent Roll & GutsMan flying. He laughed maniacally again. MegaMan got behind him & grabbed his arms*
MegaMan: Hold up, NumberMan. Have you lost your mind?
NumberMan: I've never felt better!
He threw my brother off him*
Dawn: NumberMan, stop! I don't want to hurt you!
I flew in to catch him, but he suddenly hit me & I was sent flying towards my brother, landing next to him*
NumberMan: I'm subtracting you both this blue pest from this equation!
He jumped towards us with his stick ready*
Lan & Gwen*off-screen* Area Steal! Battle Chip in!
We Chip helped us dodge the attack.
MegaMan: He was never this strong.
Dawn: His upgrade really has multipled his powers.
(Gwen's POV)
Mr. Higsby: We're gonna win! That's good, I mean really good, isn't it!?
Maylu: Sure. If you mind that he's gone nuts.
He realized she was right*
Lan: This has gone far enough! MegaMan, let's do it!
Higsby grabbed his shoulders*
Mr. Higsby: No, no! You can't ruin my creation!
Lan shook him off*
Lan: Sorry! Cyber Sword! Battle Chip in! Download!
Mr. Higsby: It can't be! NumberMan!
(Dawn's POV)
My brother's arm turned into his Cyber Sword*
NumberMan: Back off, MegaMan! The odds are against you!
(Gwen's POV)
Gwen: Not for long! Angel Harp! Battle Chip in! Download!
(Dawn's POV)
My harp appeared in my hand & I strummed a few notes*
Dawn: Harp String Attack!
The strings from my harp shot out at NumberMan, but caught them with one of his sticks. Then my brother went went to strike, but NumberMan blocked him with the other stick*
MegaMan: It's not working!
NumberMan: My strength is now multipled to the fourth power! *he raised the stick in his right hand, which sent me flying. then he brought it down, but my brother blocked it with his sword* Now it's increased to the sixth power! *he brought down his other stick so hard, my brother's sword started to crack* Tenth power! *my brother's sword broke & he raised both his sticks* Time for a little division!
Dawn: MegaMan!
IceMan*off-screen* Cyber Blizzard! *Suddenly, an icy wind blew in, freezing NumberMan in a ice. that's when we saw IceMan behind him*on-screen* Pretty cool, huh?
MegaMan: It's IceMan!
(Gwen's POV)
Tory was on the big screen*
Lan: Way to go Tory. IceMan made it just in time. And now he can enter the N1 Grand Competition, right?
Tory: Forget about that. You've gotta hurry. The first game is about to start.
Maylu: Oh no. The first game is with Dex and GutsMan.
Dex suddenly looked terrified*
Dex: I DON'T WANNA GO FIRST!
(Dawn's POV)
We all gathered around IceMan to thank him*
MegaMan: I thought I was gonna be deleted for sure. Thanks, IceMan.
IceMan: No prob.
Suddenly, NumberMan broke out of his ice prison*
NumberMan: Yes! Free at last! *we all turned to him in shock* Mustn't count your chickens before they're deleted! *suddenly, a pickaxe came flying out of nowhere & cut his sticks in half* What's that . . . Someone's cut me off!
We all turned & saw a purple fire. A shadow inside it was laughing*
MegaMan: Who are you?
The shadow was revealed to a NetNavi with a design resembles a human skeleton. He has a thin black body, a skull-like head, an orange neck with two thin part on the back, a white armor with a dark red collar, skull-shaped pauldron, orange parts on the arms and legs, white codpiece, & red-white feet*
SkullMan: I just wanted to lend a hand!
NumberMan: How dare you ruin my beautiful plans!
He charged towards the Navi with a yell, but he dodged him & hit him in the back, sending him to the ground*
Dawn: NumberMan, are you alright?
SkullMan: Until next time.
He jumped away, laughing*
MegaMan: Who are you!?
(Gwen's POV)
Mr. Higsby: NumberMan!
Lan: Who was that weird Navi?
Gwen: We don't have time to figure it out now. The first game's in five minutes!
Dex: What'll I do!? I can't get there I only five minutes!
Yai went over to the armchair & pressed a button*
Yai: No problem. We'll make it in three. *we all knew what she was doing & got on the couch* Gate 7 open.
A seatbelt appeared around her. Her chair then went upright, a hole opened up in the floor, & she went down it like a slide. Then seatbelts appeared on me, Lan, Maylu, & Dex. Then we were going down, Maylu holding on to her skirt again. Then we slide to the side*
Dex: Uh oh.
Gwen: Double Uh-oh.
The next thing I knew we were in a pink jet behind Yai*
Command Center*off-screen* Gate 7 open. Gate 7 open. Ayano 1 clear for takeoff. Starting launch sequence now.
Then we look off*
Dex: I hope they have barf-bags on this flight.
Maylu: Lan, can I change seats with you? Please!?
Like Yai said, we arrived in 3 minutes. We flew right over the arena & Dex came down on a rope*
Dex: Let the games begin! *he jumped off the rope & landed on the ground* Dex is in the house and ready to party, oh yeah!
The crowd cheered*
Ribitta: Unbelievable! What an entrance! Jamie could be in for quite a battle! Ladies and gentlemen, the stadium is going crazy!
We all got off the jet & met up with Ms. Mari, Tory, & Maysa in the stands*
Lan: Hey, are we too late?
Ms. Mari: Just made it.
Maysa: You cut that one mighty close! And you made Ms. Mari worried to boot!
Ms. Mari: It's alright, really. I'm just glad everyone made it and that Dex didn't get disqualified. *she noticed Yai's jet* My goodness, Yai. Where did you get that plane? Is it your Father's?
Yai: Nope. She's all mine. I got it for my last birthday
We all sweat-dropped at her bragging. Down in the arena, Dex
Dex: Jack in! GutsMan! Power up!
GutsMan appeared in the cyber arena. Across from him was a green male NetNavi*
GutsMan: GutsMan ready battle! GutsMan ready win! *giant projectors came up & showed the battle* GutsMan Delete you!
GreenMan looked nervous*
Dex: Ready to give up yet?
Jamie: Maybe.
Maysa started waving his Fish Banner*
Maysa: Push em back! Push em back! Push em back, GutsMan! Push em back! Push em back! Push em back, Dex!
The alarm sounded & the battle began. GutsMan & GreenMan charged at each other"
GutsMan: Guts! Guts! Guts!
Ribitta: Finally! The first round of the very first N1 Grand Prix is underway!
So far, GutsMan was having the upper hand*
Jamie: Oh no!
Dex: We've just begun!
GutsMan brought out his Guts Hammer & smashed the ground with it. The force sent GreenMan flying*
GreenMan! Logging Out!
GutsMan: Me win! Me win!
Ribitta: Did you see that!? What an amazing first battle! Dex's GutsMan made his opponent log out in just thirty seconds!
Gwen: Awesome strategy, Dex!
Maylu: Yeah, GutsMan!
Ms. Mari: I'm so proud of you.
Dex laughed in victory*
Ribitta: Let's check in on another event! *on a jumbo screen, it showed another NetNavi logging out from it's battle. it's opponent was none other than ProtoMan* We've just got the scoring from the Sub-Dome. Chaud and his Navi, ProtoMan, have - What!? He logged out his opponent just 12 seconds into the game!
A smirk grew on Chaud's smug face*
(Dawn's POV)
I blushed when I saw ProtoMan on the screen*
(Gwen's POV)
Lan: A winner in 12 seconds? Get outta here.
(Third-Person POV)
Chaud: ProtoMan will crush Dawn and MegaMan and that is a promise, Hikari Twins.
(Gwen's POV)
Gwen: Bring it on, pretty boy!
Lan: Yeah!
Maylu: Was that a challenge?
