Zuri's travel journal

Day 1

The farlands are destroyed, I don't know what to do. There was a machine that allowed people to travel millions of blocks in a matter of seconds. It would allow my people to survive, but it was too late when the contraption got finished. I was the only one physically able to travel on it. I escaped right before the glitch took over everything, but at what cost?

What do I do now? Do I get help? Will I even be able to get to the farlands in time? I don't have the blueprint for the machine!

Alright, first I have to find a place to live.

I found a village, but nowhere to stay. I'll work hard, that's all I can do now to be honest.

I knew that humans were endangered, but I didn't realize that the world was so empty like this.

Day 2

Okay, I slept in a little hut that I built beside the church, I'll be on my way now. I got stuff to do.

You know, I was never the type of guy to plan stuff out, but now that I have a lot figured out I think I'll be alright.

Ok, not everything is 100% fine, I still don't have all the plans ready, but you get it. Even the smallest bit of planning is still a lot for some guy that relies so much on improv.

I wanna own a library, maybe live in it. Maybe get some friends lol.

I'm just walking around, everything is just… Empty. I mean, we got a lot of wildlife around, but nothing looks like what I saw in the textbooks, which makes a bit of sense.

I was born and raised in the farlands. My people haven't come in contact with anything in the main overworld in millenia.

Now that I wrote it down… Yeah, I don't know what I was expecting from a world that we have never met. Considering the amount of technological progress that we made back home, I half expected the main overworld to be more advanced that what I'm seeing.

I expected cities all around, full of people and monuments and maybe a bunch of different species living along with each other. I expected more than just villagers.

What happened here?

Day 4

Woah, I skipped a day, so here comes a recap:

I found a village in a swamp and decided to settle down there. I put my stuff inside a giant mushroom and tried to talk to the locals.

Well, one thing led to another and I got a job with the farmer. We don't even speak the same language, I don't know how we got here. I'm not gonna lie, I didn't expect that, but I'll take it. The whole day consisted of carrying hay, feeding the animals, and learning about storage. I guess you really gotta work here, especially when the terrain isn't exactly optional for farming. They could have gone for fishing or slime-farming or something that makes more sense in a swamp.

I ended the day exhausted and didn't have the energy to lift a single finger once I got to bed.

Today the farmer woke me up and we went right to work. It was still dark. First we had to fix some fences. Can you believe it? A cow not only managed to break free, but it had the audacity to break into the barn and eat hay for who knows how long!

We then had to stomp some slimes that were scaring the chickens and make sure that none got in the carrot we had breakfast.

I spent the rest of the morning learning to cook for THE WHOLE VILLAGE and then we had to go back to work, then lunch, then more work and now I'm dismissed for today. I'll go to sleep earlier, I've learned my lesson.

Day 5

More work…

Same thing, wake up early, feed the animals, deal with slimes, fix stuff and whatever and whatever. Today I milked a cow for the first time hah.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm liking this whole thing, the villagers are very nice. Again, we don't understand each other, but… I don't know, we understand each other.

That didn't make sense.

Day 7

Okay, something is happening, the farmer for some reason wants me to work double of what I worked in the past few days. Everyone is running around all the time and doing everything too fast. I don't think I can not keep up but I'll do my best.

No free time.

Day 8

Dude help I don't know.

I've barrely been able to rest, let alone sleep properly.

Day 9

The pace has gone down a bit, we got some banners decorating the village, a lot of food got prepared and I've just been cleaning stuff here and there.

It's obvious that there's going to be an important event or festival or something. I just wonder what we're celebrating.

Hope they're not preparing to sacrifice me lol.

Day 11

Aannnd here I come again with the time skips.

Yep, it was a party, and guess what? I worked A LOT. Man, these guys are crazy.

I still don't know what was celebrated, by the way. There was a lot of cake and… Yeah, food in general, but mainly cake, everyone got a bit of the leftovers and we still have a bit.

Oh, apparently I have to build stuff too?

The farmer just "gave" me to the stone mason and I spent the rest of the day building the foundation of something.

Day 12

I haven't even written about the fact that I've been sleeping in the barn since day 6.

Man, these guys are putting me to work.

Again, I spent a lot of my day working on that same structure. Not complaining, actually I'm very grateful. The villagers have given me a purpose and they're rewarding me well with gifts and stuff.

I still don't know how this whole thing is going to end up. I still need somewhere to live and I still have my own personal projects.

I want to leave, but to be honest, I don't know how they will react to it.

I'll go to bed and think about it tomorrow.

Day 14

You guys, the house we were building is for me!

Dude!

We finished it yesterday and gave it a few last touches today.

I went back to the barn and my things weren't there, then the farmer took me here when I went to talk to him.

Okay, I guess I'll stay then. If they insis

t so much. I'll figure the rest out later.

Let's see what happens next.
