AN*- the start or this story is slow but I will get to a conflict and a satisfying ending when the time is right.
Next Week
Callie breathes in the air as she and Mark are on their way towards school. She had a relaxing weekend that consisted of hanging out with Arizona and being with her where no one else could see.
She probably made a mistake of telling Arizona about keeping it secret because Arizona tends to overthink things. But she assured her that her feelings are real and that she's doing this out of protection.
"So, Torres, you never told me where you went for an hour with blondie when you disappeared. Did you finally confess to her?" Mark said.
Callie really wanted to tell him, but instead her dumb brain told Arizona they had to keep it a secret. But she is going to keep it like that because she is the reason her and Erica broke up.
And knowing Erica she will try to verbally abuse Arizona like she did every time she and Arizona are near each other.
Erica was a very jealous person.
She said "No, I didn't. I just went out with her to keep her company because the party was getting a bit crowded for her, especially since Minnick was looking for her."
"Makes sense. That chick is insane." Mark laughed. He, like Callie, did not like Eliza and how obsessed she was with Arizona.
"Tell me about it" Callie rolled her eyes.
"Are you girls ready for tryouts today?" He asked.
Ah. Yes, today's senior girls and boy's tryout day for the soccer team. "Yes, me and the girls are ready. What about you and the guys?"
"We are." he smiled. They both had their gear in the back of Mark's car.
"After tryouts all of us are going to the arcade, right?"
"Hell yeah!" There's a big arcade the gang likes to go to sometimes with millions of games. She was excited.
Mark and Callie went to their class and so their friends were there in the back. Mark and Callie sat beside each other.
"Good morning, guys." Mark said while dabbing Jackson up.
They all said Hey.
Callie secretly smiled at Arizona who was smiling back at her.
Teddy notices the interaction.
"What was that?" She looks between the two then stares at Arizona
"What was what? Oh!" Like she got it and spilled her secret. "Me and Callie came up with an inside joke at the party that no one besides the two of us knows."
Teddy questions it, "So, there's nothing going on with you two. What happened at the party?"
"Nothing we talked and just wanted to be able to hear ourselves because the music was so fucking loud. You were there, you know how loud it was."
"Fine, true. Okay let's go to our next class before we are late." Teddy and Arizona walked away.
Arizona felt safe and glad. She doesn't mine anyone not knowing yet, but she hates lying to Teddy.
AT LUNCH
Instead of going to the lunchroom, Callie made up a lie to Mark that she and Arizona had to swing by work to talk to their boss.
"So, you lied to Mark so that we can spend some time together without prying eyes?" Arizona said as she was driving them in her car.
"Essentially, I just wanted to spend some time with you one on one." Callie said, looking at her girlfriend.
Arizona put her hand on the cup holders for Callie to interlock their fingers.
They made their way to their job to talk to their boss.
"There you girls are. I just wanted to go over your schedules and see if you are okay with still working the same shifts together." Mr. Lee said when he saw them
The girls nodded and then went over what times they wanted to work factoring school and other things.
"Thank you. Enjoy the rest of your day, see you both tomorrow." He waves at them and they make their way back to the car.
"We have 30 minutes left of lunch. Do you want to grab a quick bite?" Arizona asked and was pleased.
"Hell ya." They arrived at the subway to eat a sub before heading back to school.
"So, I was wondering if I can take you on a real date this weekend." Callies said while they were eating.
Arizona looked up at her girlfriend and smiled so big. "Yes, I'm in"
Callie came in closer and kissed her girlfriend's cheek with a satisfied smile on her face.
"Can't wait. Now let's go back to school."
Callie stood up and held her hand out to her girlfriend. "Why thank you." Arizona got up.
Callie dragged her girlfriend back to the car, but not without getting a kiss.
"May I kiss you?" Callie asked. Arizona nodded.
Callie took both her hands to Arizona's face and pulled her close. She leaned down and connected her lips with Arizona's.
Arizona placed her hands on the back of Callie's neck, interlocking them.
The kiss was soft and slow.
"Wow." Callie said after their first kiss.
"Magical." Arizona grinned so big her dimples were showing.
Callie placed a quick kiss to her girlfriend's lips again until she pulled away so that they could get inside the car to head back to school.
Callie is feeling on top of the world.
AFTER SCHOOL
TRYOUTS
The rest of the day was uneventful with the friends just counting the minutes until they were able to try out.
All of them were excited for tryouts. Soccer was life. Arizona was excited to see her girlfriend in her element.
Being in the change room before tryouts Callie and her friends are getting in the zone for the tryouts.
"We got this girls, we're seniors and are amazing players." Callie said. "I believe in each and every one of you guys. My favorite teammates..."
"If we don't get moving and continue with this, we're going to miss the tryout Cal." Cristina says, interrupting her speech.
Callie rolled her eyes. "Okay fine. Let's move it guys." They all jogged to the field where they met their couch.
"Ladies, this tryout is going to be for two periods. First half is going to be skills and the second half is going to be scrimmage. Now everyone has to get partnered up." Couch Herrara said.
Andy Herrara is the best coach in all of Seattle and works hard for her players. Alongside being the girls' soccer coach, her Husband Robert Sullivan also teaches History here and is the men's soccer couch.
"Torres, Altman can you guys stay back for a sec?"
Callie and Teddy went back to their coach to see what she needed from them.
"You guys know how every year I appoint captains for the team?" She looks at them.
Teddy and Callie look at each other and grin. Then nodded to their couch.
"It'll be a job with my assistance to work on your team. In a few weeks we'll be going on and along with the boys' team on a school trip where there's cabins and activities to do. I also am going to ask Arizona Robbins and a few of her pals from the softball team that don't overlap to join us." She said,
"Yes that sounds great." Teddy says
"We should do it at the end of the month, before it starts to get cold." Callie said.
"Good idea." Coach Herrara said. "I'll have to talk more of that though with my husband to see if the boys are going to keep up with it."
The girls nodded and then noticed other people were coming onto the field.
"Listen up. I want you guys to do some laps and split up into groups from some drills." Coach said.
This was a senior girl's tryout so must of the girls knew what they were doing.
Callie and the others split up in small groups and split off to do drills.
After an hour of doing drills with coach Herrara yelling group drills for the girls to do it was time for a little scrimmage to end the tryouts.
There were 50 girls trying out so Coach put everyone in groups of 5.
Callie unfortunately didn't get so lucky with her group being Erica, Eliza, Cristina, Sadie Harris, and Penny Blake. At least Cristinas in her group.
Teddy is paired with Addison, Meredith, Jo Wilson and Lexie grey. Not bad Teddy, think. I just need to be the best striker out there.
For the next half an hour the tryouts are going away and everyone is in their groups doing their drills and claiming a corner in the two soccer fields.
"Hey Cal, want to start with the monkey in the middle drill." Asked Cristina. She secretly loves that drill it's fun to mess with people.
Callie nodded and they all did that for half the drill. It was fun.
Passing drills continued until tryouts were starting to wind down.
"Ladies, that was great and I am impressed with what I saw today. Unfortunately, though I am only choosing 18 of you for the senior team." Coach said. "Get out of here and enjoy the rest of your day and I'll see you ladies tomorrow."
All the girls dismantled and cleaned up the field before going to the girls' locker room.
AFTER TRYOUTS
"Hey Torres, get work at the tryouts. I hope we get to be teammates again." Erica said. She was secretly being on the same team again to get back together.
"Yeah, we do work well on the field, Haun." She says she wants to leave.
"Cal c'mon we got to get going." Addison said beside an impatient Cristina.
"Where are you guys going?" Erica piped in at that. She wanted to spend more time with Callie, trying to convince her to get a second chance.
Callie was about to tell her but Addison piped in. "Going somewhere with our group for a bonding thing. I would invite you, but you don't even like half of us."
"That's not true. But, is Robbins going to be there?" Erica said really wanted to go but not if Arizona is going to be there.
"Of course she's going to be there, you idiot. She's, our friend." Cristina piped in.
Erica rolled her eyes and just walked away.
"Does she not know that most of us don't like her?" Addison asked Callie and then also walked away.
Callie stood there dumbfounded. She does not still have feelings for Erica but why is it still hard to stand up to her.
To: Arizona
"I think I have to explain in further explanation why I want to keep this a secret from everyone especially Erica."
HOURS LATER ARCADE
Sitting around the table with friends after a long day was just what Callie needed. To her left was Mark and to her right was Cristina.
"I think we should just have a relaxing evening and just play some arcade games with no drama." Derek said with his arm around Meredeth.
"Agreed let's just play games we want to play, can we all debuts and meet back up in 2 hours?" Arizona said and pulled Teddy off somewhere.
Callie watched them go and was a bit sad that she couldn't spend some time with her girlfriend.
"C'mon Torres let's play air hockey." Mark said. She followed him.
"So, what's going on with you? I feel like we haven't chatted since the party." Arizona asked Teddy.
She smiled so big, excited to share some fun news with her best friend. "Henry asked me out." She said,
"OMG Teddy. OMG" They jumped up and down. "I'm so happy for you." Arizona explained.
"I know it's been a long time coming but Henry's finally did it. And man."
"Now you guys can be each other's biggest supporters on the baseball/softball field." Arizona said.
"Yup. Now let's play skeet ball. I want to get a better score than you."
"Okay but I'll go first as I am younger than you." Arizona said.
"Oh yeah, it's true. Fine whatever." Teddy rolled her eyes but let Arizona Carry on.
Arizona and Teddy Played 5 rounds on skeet ball determining who the winner was.
The first two rounds Teddy won and Then Arizona took the next two.
"Robbins I am ahead of you by 200 points. Are you sure you can stop me?" Teddy smirked. She got this in the bag.
"Oh yeah, watch this." Arizona said as she rolled her ball up to get the 50 slots.
Arizona frowned.
"Boo-ya." Teddy cheered as she did a celebratory dance. "Come on, let's play another game.
Meanwhile
Mark and Callie were now playing Mario Kart when she felt a tap on her shoulder.
She smiled assuming it was her girlfriend but faltered a little when she noticed it was just Cristina.
"What's with the frown Torres? I came to get you to help me."
"Help you?" Callie said with her brow raised.
"Robbins and Altman want to play 2v2 pool. I need a partner to kick their butts," Cristina said. "You in?"
Callie smiled and said "Hell yeah!"
(Last part)
Callie and Cristina walked over to where Arizona and Teddy were at the pool table.
"I'm going to the bathroom before we start." Arizona said and walked away.
"Same here." Callie said.
Once inside they checked if anyone was in there. Once they were cleared, they went into each other's arms.
Arizona leaned in and captured Callie's lips.
"I missed you." Arizona said.
Callie kissed her again and gave a big smile.
"I've missed you too. I am so excited for our date this weekend." Callie said
Arizona agreed.
"I know we have to get back soon before anyone gets suspicious but I am excited as well." Arizona said before she let go of Callie's hand.
"I'll see you back out their baby." Arizona walked out.
"Baby?" Callie said to herself.
Huh, I like it she thought and then follow her girlfriend outside to rejoin their friends.
"You guys ready now?" Cristina asked.
"Yeah, you're going down Yang." Arizona said walking over to Teddy.
"We got this." Teddy said and started to rack up.
