Calm luh authors note.
The songs that I use as Izukus are in fact songs by Malcolm Todd.
If you fw the story then fw Malcolm Todd.
That is all.
Ochako had never been the biggest music fan.
But after watching an interview with a green-haired musician courtesy of her good friend Kyouka,
She was seriously reconsidering.
Although she'd already watched the In The Ear interview twice with her punk-rock friend, she found herself indulging in the 20-minute video for the third time in the solace of her room.
"Her love is in your head, you lost your earrings in her bed."
The greenette contained within her screen wore a smile as he palmed his microphone, a song from his debut album flowing from his lips albeit it sang a little differently.
Regardless of the fact that she'd never even heard the original, Ochako could confidently say that the boy's current rendition of it was leagues above.
"You couldn' tell her that you lost 'em 'cause you're scared n you're not talkin'."
Ochako sang alongside him, her accent infecting her speech as a tint of pink did the same to her skin.
The brunette couldn't properly explain what exactly drew her to the musician in the first place. The music was good, sure, but it was something more than that that kept her coming back to the same interview over and over.
"So when did you start playing music?"
The question pulled the brunette from her thoughts as she realized the song she'd been singing along with moments prior had ended, the video segwaying into an interview portion.
From his position behind her phone screen, the greenette smiled, sucking in air as he did so as his expression shifted to one of deep thought.
"I started playing music when I was a Junior in Jr. High when-
"Three years ago?"
The interruption caught the teen off guard before his shock quickly morphed into laughter, laughter the brunette had listened to countless times.
And one that she quickly found herself becoming addicted to.
"So three years ago yeah."
The interviewer released a chuckle at the response, one which caused Izuku to do the same.
"No actually how many years ago?"
A smile tugging on his lips as always, the greenette paused for a moment before answering the question.
"…Three years ago."
The duo fell into laughter once more and, although she had heard the question two times prior, Ochako couldn't help but giggle at the teen's answer, a sense of admiration bubbling in her chest.
"Um. I was online for school and I was in my room and I was like man-"
"Oh. 'Cause of what happened freshman year. So you're like, no more going to school?"
That particular bit had always left a sour taste in the brunette's mouth as her instincts screamed at her, telling her that whatever the incident was, it wasn't pretty.
Not one for willful ignorance, Ochako had spent a decent amount of time searching the web for the 'incident' mentioned in the interview.
However, as though swallowed by the electrical ocean itself, she couldn't find details going into specifics.
Which truly irked the brunette.
"Yeah no more school. I was just in my room just missing- I had 110 absences second term my junior year but uhh, instead I was just in my room looking up how to play the guitar."
The interviewer nodded, his long blonde hair bouncing as he did so.
"So when did you start writing songs?"
Very briefly, so much so that Ochako could've sworn it didn't happen, Izuku's face fell before quickly rising.
"Odd."
Filing the look away for a future research session, the brunette returned her focus to the interview.
"I always wanted to do projects like behind the scenes and come out of the woodwork with them. And I thought y'know, I really liked some artists and they made me really excited so I thought, why can't I do that? I've got a pretty face."
The end of his sentence sent the blonde man into another laughing fit as the teen let loose a chuckle of his own.
However, Ochako wasn't amused mainly because the greenette was absolutely right.
"He does have a pretty face."
Recomposing themselves, the greenette continued.
"But I really just wanted to play high scho- 'Cause I knew I had school in person and I wanted to come back and play shows for my high school-"
"Yeah."
"So I just wanted to be to in the scene that played the parties, that was all that was in my head. I wasn't like, I'm gonna get a record deal, I'm not gonna go to high school-"
"Mhm."
"I just wanted to play high school parties."
The two shared a knowing look before the camera cut, returning to the greenette accompanied by a series of band members, the second song starting.
However, Ochako, despite hearing this information twice prior, was no longer focused on the music, her mind now solely focused on one, burning, question.
"Just who are you?"
Dropping the phone, the teen allowed her chocolate eyes to settle on her off-white ceiling, the lack of visual stimuli helping center her thoughts.
"Jirou said he's an up-and-comin' singer that her pops is promotin' but that's really it."
Her chin scrunched as she tried her hardest to recall any slice of information retaining to the life of Izuku however, no matter how hard she tried only the basics came up.
He played music, wasn't in school, and had a bad experience back in junior high that left him homeschooled.
"This sucks!"
The brunette tossed her arms up in frustration before letting the limbs fall onto her head, obscuring her face alongside her ire.
"I shouldn't care this much 'bout someone I dunno but...but..."
But nothing.
She had no clue as to why he'd grabbed her interest so strongly.
Turning her attention back to the space-themed phone lying on her bed, the brunette brought the device back to her chocolate eyes, smiling as she did so.
"After you can, kiss my face."
The words sent a fervent blush down the face of the brunette, just as it did the two times she'd heard it prior.
And just like those two times prior, images of the greenette pulling her on stage and allowing her to do so permeated her mind, sending that blush throughout her entire body.
Shaking the images from her head, Ochako returned her focus to the video, remnants of her blush staining her cheeks.
By now, the song had ended and the next interview portion was set to begin.
"Are there any moments where you pinch yourself and you're like '"I can't believe this is real"?"
Upon hearing the question, the teen brightened, as though he recalled a memory he held dear to him.
"The shows definitely. I remember we were in Yokohama for...something-"
His brief pause caused the band behind him to laugh, the interviewer doing so in tandem.
"And we put out an Instagram story basically saying "Hey guys, we're in Yokohama come see us play." and like 800 people showed up. Looking out at that crowd felt so cool but at the same time it felt like I was dreaming and I'd wake up back home with 200 missing assignments."
The two shared a chuckle before the interviewer nodded his head.
"I definitely know what you mean. I peeked threw the curtain at my first headline and threw up."
The group cackled, each laugh varying in tone.
However, the only laugh Ochako cared about was the one coming from the greenette holding the mic.
"I could fall asleep to that laugh."
Her sentence caused her chocolate eyes to widen as inspiration struck her person.
Double-tapping the screen, the brunette rewound the video by ten seconds, leaving it paused.
She then swiped down, bringing up the control center and tapping screen record, capturing the teen's laugh and filing it away for later.
"Ok so, you have socials and announce the shows. All the people showing up must've been scary."
The teen made a so-so motion with his hand.
"It was definitely nerve-wracking but the crowd was super kind and the show went over really well."
The interviewer nodded in understanding.
"Did you run promo or-"
"Not really to be honest. I posted the show- make sure to follow me at IzuCantSing- and it sold out in 2 hours and we were like"Holy shit" it was awesome."
The interviewer whistled, offering the teen a proud nod.
"Selling out that quickly at this stage of your career is impressive."
The greenette offered the blonde his gratitude.
"Yeah. But then we realized we had to actually learn our songs."
"I know exactly what you mean."
The two shared a laugh before the blonde suddenly checked his watch, sighing upon realizing the time.
Turning to the camera, the interviewer raised his mic to his lips, addressing the viewers.
"Sadly we're running out of time. Make sure to follow Izuku and co to keep up with their music and as always have a great day. This is Kyotoku Jirou and this is In The Ear."
The group all waved the camera off as the video came to a close, filling Ochako with a twinge of sadness.
However, that sadness quickly disappeared as a notification courtesy of Instagram made itself known to her eyes.
Tapping the banner, the brunette was met with the image of her green-haired minor celebrity crush standing in a sweet shop alongside members of his group, each, save for the green himself eating an item from the shop.
The aforementioned green held up a pointed finger, the digit pointing toward the white caption stamped over the photo.
The words of the said caption, nearly caused Ochako to squeal…
I lied.
She squealed.
"THEY'RE GOING ON TOUR!"
