Summary: It was decided that after the well sealed up for good, Kagome would go stay with her father- Tony. In doing so, he can make sure she's safe and he can securely study the phenomenon that is the Shikon no Tama in its whole form. It is, inadvertently, the very thing that led her to cross paths with Peter Parker. Frankly, Tony can't decide if he regrets it or not.

Pairing: Peter Parker x Kagome Higurashi

Disclaimer: I do not own either series. Each belongs to their rightful owners.

Prologue

She felt his gaze fixed on her as he looked her over, seeming to be searching for something. After a minute, she caught his stare, and she could tell that, whatever he seemed to be searching for hadn't been found. He closed the distance between them, idly reaching to brush her bangs back out of her face.

"Look at you," Tony mused, dark eyes seeming to scan over her appearance before catching her bright blue eyes. "I can barely recognize you, you know."

"Yeah, it's been eight years," Kagome responded, reaching up and pushing his hand from her face. "I'm not seven years old anymore."

"No, that's not what I meant," Tony replied. "You're stronger, wiser," he trailed off for a moment, seeming to think something over. A second or two later, he shook his head. "Let me see the magic stone for a second," he requested.

Kagome sighed and reached to remove the jewel from where it rested around her neck. The sunlight caught on it, making it shimmer with iridescent colors. She could see the impact it had on her father as he looked at it. He took it from her grasp gently, rolling it between his thumb and index finger as he observed it with a closer eye.

"This thing is bound to you," he stated, repeating words she'd told him earlier. Kagome nodded, as if she was confirming that statement.

"In some way, yeah," she responded. "It got ripped out of my body, after all." An unpleasant memory, surely, but when it came to the jewel and the well, most of the memories were unsavory, to say the least. She sighed, feeling the pull of it on her soul. Invisible to the human eye, surely a string of fate kept her soul bound to it. "I can sense it. It communicates to me, in a way."

"How so?" Tony asked, glancing from the jewel and back to Kagome.

Kagome glanced at the jewel, and she felt a pulse of its energy. It was as if it were calling out to her. Even though she'd gotten used to it by now, there was still something so off-putting about the feel of it. She turned away from it entirely, shifting her gaze so it was pointed at the ground. "It matches my energy output," she stated. "When my energy flares, then so does it. When I diminish mine, it mirrors me. It tries to remain on the same frequency as me," she explained. "Not only that, but it reaches out to me when physical contact has been severed."

"Even now?" Tony asked. The jewel wasn't even two feet away from her. Even a distance as small as that had such a drastic impact on it? Kagome nodded.

"I'm not sure if it's because I've taken on the role as its guardian or not," she explained. "It adds to my own strength and makes my senses stronger over more vast distances." She folded her arms over her chest and looked up at him. "Since the dark has been purified from within it, nothing but its light remains, and that light has attached itself to me."

Despite that, it didn't mean it wasn't still a flashing beacon for everyone who meant to cause trouble. It was still unbearably powerful. It wasn't as easy to corrupt, but a new source of darkness could always be forced within the jewel's depths.

Ever since he'd become aware of it, he'd made it clear how he wanted to study it. It was a thing entirely otherworldly, and, as such, it drew all sorts of sources to it. She knew for a fact that SHIELD was particularly interested in it, but she had no desire to hand it over to them. Her father would at least refrain from doing as much.

Tony glanced back at the jewel, taking account of her words as he observed the seemingly ordinary stone. Deep within the haze of pink, a glimmer of pearlescent white remained deep within the core. Despite its small size, the feeling it caused was double that of the Chitauri scepter.

"Does it bother you to be away from it?" Tony asked. Kagome shook her head, sighing softly.

"Not necessarily," she admitted. "It feels strange, yeah, but it's not painful or anything. I can still feel it. If anything, the tug is more persistent due to the lack of physical contact," she explained. She watched her father for a few seconds, her gaze slowly shifting back to the jewel. "You intend to research it, right?" she asked. Tony didn't hesitate as he nodded.

"That I do," he stated. "You see, this little thing has SHIELD in quite the tizzy."

"I don't want it in their hands," Kagome stated. The thought didn't sit right with her.

"It's not going to be," Tony responded. "They might not agree, but as far as I'm concerned, this is a part of you," he stated, glancing at the jewel and holding it up as it caught on the light. "To let them research it would be to let them research you, and I'm not about to let them make any sort of files on you to use for a later date," he said. If they did, then both Kagome and he knew exactly the type they'd be. He'd be damned if he let her information fall into their grasp. "Anyway, it'd take them too long. I'm much more impatient, you know."

Kagome shook her head, turning away some to hide her smile. It felt strange being back with her father after so many years, but not uncomfortably so. Tony walked towards her, reaching to let his arm fall over her shoulders as he tugged her into his side.

"I know you're curious about it too," he stated. It wasn't that far of a reach to say those words. "You know what they say, Kiddo," Tony said. "Great mind thinks alike, and we both have the same great mind."

Kagome felt him press the jewel back into her hand, and her fingers closed around it out of reflex.

Auroua-chan: Honestly, it won't hurt a bit if Kagome takes after Tony a bit. If anything, he'd be proud.

The jewel sure is a phenomenon. It mirrors the powers of other otherworldly things, yet it was pulled from Kagome's body. More than that, there's a deeper connection between her and it. SHIELD is of course interested in it, but they'll never get access to it unless Kagome maybe could one day have a change of heart.

Speaking of Kagome, she's currently 15. In a way, she's also an anomaly according to SHIELD, which is the reason she stayed so far away with her mother. Several people will be startled by her existence

Tony wants to research the jewel, of course, but for many reasons. There's no telling the life-long impact it'll have on Kagome, after all. Or maybe it could be used to make her own suit, in a way. There's truly no telling.

Anyway, that's it for now! Thank you all for reading and I hope you all enjoyed it. Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.
