Chapter 5

"Why do you have a blood bag?" Charlie asked holding one. "It was lying on the table"

"I...we are vampires" Angel replied un sure how to explain it.

"What?" Charlie gasped. As he put the bag back on the table about to reach for his gun.

"Vampires" he said bluntly. As Charlie aimed the gun at Angel beckoning Bella to stand behind him.

"Oh please that thing is useless" said Angel grabbing it and shooting himself with a loud bang.

"Ahh" gasped Charle as Angel put the gun down on the table and lifted his shirt to show him the bullet wedged in his chest. Pulling it out Charlie and Bella stared as the bleeding wound healed al by its self. And Charlie gasped and went forward to touch it. "Cold as ice" he said.

"Hey" said Angel rather uncomfortable.

"The workmen" Darla said nervously about the noise.

"Gone for the day, they will be back tomorrow, you mustn't tell anyone what we are and we are different from others we only feed on animals or use blood bags and we don't kill people un like some we know" Angel said looking at the hole in his shirt.

"They are more of you" Charlie asked.

"Back in LA there are we don't know about here though"

"I will give you till tomorrow" said Charlie, "come on Bella let's get outta here" he said, grabbing her hand and the gun, and hurrying past Angel and Darla and Connor.

The drive back home was in silence except from Charlies heavy panicky breathing, and Bella worried the stress might be too much so she sat in silence worrying.

"Did you know" Charlie asked her as she came in the door.

Rather reluctantly Bella said "yes, but only recently a couple of weeks ago"

"I don't believe this" he said quite upset and began pacing up and down when someone began knocking on the door. Opening it she found Darla standing there, looking rather concerned.

Bella was about to let her in when Charlie clutched his chest and began to fall down looking quite pale and sweaty, heavy breathing still. "Call an ambulance" she gasped to Darla who quickly brought out her phone to phone for an ambulance. As Bella hurried to him and helped him to his, un steady legs. "Let's get you to the couch" as he fell heavily onto the sofa lying face down when they slowly got there.

"The ambulance will be here in fifteen minutes" as she came hurrying in bending down looking at him half unconscious his breathing heavy.

"You've been invited in" he rasped turning to look at her. "Does that actually work, can you go out in the sun?"

"Yes but I will not hurt you or Bella if you will let me tell you my long story once you are better can you get some water i think its panic attack" she said to Bella, whom stood up and left to get him a glass of water.

His breathing calmed down once he had a drink of water and Darla helped by trying to calm him dow eventually.

A short while or so later Charlie was back to normal and thanked Darla for helping and so did Bella whom was slightly shaken that it could have been a heart attack due to finding out about vampires sighed in relief and sat down next to him on the couch while Darla took the other one.

"Yes i can go out in the sun, only me, Angel and Spike can do that as we have these day light rings she said showing a blue and silver ring. We can also eat food but only if we have a mixture of blood in our system we can eat, besides we are very old so our bodies are used to it that's why we get blood bags so we don't have to feed on humans, Spike must have left it out by accident"

"What about Connor is he a..."

"No he is a miracle child by two vampires, its rather complicated one for later though he is not adopted but mine and Angel's son. You mustn't tell anyone about him either as only a handful of people know who he is and we want to keep it that way"

"Garlic?"

"I love garlic"

"Mirrors?" he asked.

"myth" said Darla, as Bella sat watching him ask the questions she would have asked"

'okay, i will keep your secret but as long as you don't kill anyone" said Charlie, causing Bella to sigh in relief and Darla said "thank you" smiling at him.

And she left out the bit with Angel's soul and a moment of happiness could turn him into a monster as she 'did not want to scare Charlie even more' she thought. 'Plus the one person who he loved was dead any way so they shouldn't worry, she only stayed with Angel cause of Connor and it was agreeing with her for the time being any way'

"i'm going to give you my mobile number and house phone and Angel's number, if you should need to contact us we will answer" she said pulling her phone out her pocket as Bella and Charlie did the same. After she gave them all their numbers she left the house after words leaving Bella to look after Charlie who was thinking about what she had told them and Bella was doing the exact same so they both sat in silence for a while, before Bella retired to her room for the evening but found she was too restless and her mind full to sleep so she sat at her desk doing homework which she had forgotten to do late into the evening.

The next morning Bella woke up to find she had fallen a sleep at her desk and got up rubbing her eyes and her 'back was killing her after being inn the same position so long' she thought heading for the bathroom to get ready for the day, she could hear Charlie getting ready for work. "Hey" she said going to the kitchen where he stood with his police jacket one. "Did you sleep?" she asked smiling putting some bread into the toaster for breakfast in which she had only fifteen minutes when Connor the miracle boy would come.

"Not really" he said yawning. "Who could sleep after that" he said, finishing off his coffee.

"Me neither" as she also had some coffee to waken herself up yawning.

Just as Charlie left Connor arrived looking a bit worried as Charlie was on guard but smiled and waved like normal. "So you know about me and my family" sounding rather nervous.

"Don't worry i think he is dealing with it much better than I expected" she replied a little un sure herself.

"that's good, so me being different doesn't change us being friends" he asked.

"No it wont change our friendship, i like you" she said smiling as he concentrated on the road ahead.

"so what's it like living with two vampires?" she asked.

"Three including Spike he lives with us as well, um its all right you get used to it after a while. I get to do what I wan't as there is no rules, except not to tell anyone what they are. There is no time limit at night either I get to watch tv for as long as I like as long as I do homework and things they pretty much leave me to it. They go out hunting every night and I go to school during the day so we really only see each other at the weekend" he replied as they pulled into a space in the parking lot.

"That's kind of cool having no time limit" she said, as they got out the car ready for the day ahead.
