Christa could not remember her father's voice, nor her mother's face. She could remember some details, like the twinkle in her mother's eye or her father's gusty laugh, but could not for the life of her remember anything else. This was not surprising. Her childhood was a big blur. The only memory she could remember clearly was of that day. The day when Marley came.

They came without a warning, burning everything in their way, killing men and raping the women. Her village was a small fishing village in the coastal region of Brittania. It had no defenses to fight Marley, so the battle was short. Perhaps her father had been killed in the attack and her mother committed suicide to avoid being raped. She didn't know. All she knew was that she was alone when they took her.

The next few years were hellish. The Marleyans didn't consider anyone not from the city of Marley as their equals. She had been cursed with a particularly cruel owner. He had the tongues of all his slaves cut out, reasoning that they didn't need them. He often worked his slaves to death and would brutally rape any woman who caught his fancy. Christa was lucky he deemed her too young for him. Slowly she lost all will to fight and accepted this life

The Marleyan legion left Brittania after conquering it and made their way to the barbaric lands of Germania. The locals there put up a good fight, but they were no match for the mighty Marleyan legions. One by one, the tribes fell, until all that was left was the Eldian tribe, lead by their chieftain Fritz. The resisted bravely, but everyone knew it would only be a matter of time until they too were defeated.

She hadn't meant to let the pigs out at first. She was only going to feed them as she had been ordered to. But the sight of those pigs, stuck in a cage, struggling to get out awakened feelings in her that she had long considered dead. Before she knew what she was doing, her hand reached out to open the cage. "At least one of us can be free", she thought as she watched the pigs run away into the forest.

Her master was livid at the pigs escape. They had been specially bred for their fine meat and

were quite expensive. The other slaves snitched on her without a second thought and soon

she found herself running through the wood hunted by her master's subordinates. In her panic, she did not realise that she had trespassed into Eldian territory. Her tormentors didn't realise it too, caught up in the thrill of the hunt.

Ymir ran and ran until she reached a gigantic tree that reached to the skies. Hoping to hide within it's roots, she walked forward when she tripped and fell.

Not very far away, the Eldian chieftain Fritz was interrupted from his meal by a loud explosion coming from the direction of the Yggdrasil.
