Ed woke up with a start after turning around in his sleep to wrap his arms around his wife when he pulled back. His eyes opened to the view of his wife wrapped up in what looked like five blankets. Where did she get them from? He doesn't know. He lifted his head to glance at the clock on her nightstand, it was just a quarter past 11. The sun was shining brightly into their room and the warm summer air was flowing through the one open window.
She never covers herself up like this when it's this warm.
He reaches his hand out and touches her forehead. With a groan, Lorraine buries her face further into the blankets after feeling Ed's hand on her head.
"Oh, baby. You're burning up." Ed's deep voice said as he moved his hand down to feel the hot flesh of her cheek. "You must've caught a bug or something."
"I am not sick," Lorraine grumbled, turning around and pulling all the blankets with her making her husband let out a chuckle. He sighs and decides to get out of bed to make her some warm tea and something to eat. After brushing his teeth and pulling on his plaid pajama pants, he heads down to the kitchen.
After making some lemon tea with honey and avocado toast, he heads back up to the room, stopping by the bathroom to grab some cough syrup. Walking into the room, he lets out a soft chuckle at the sight of his wife lying on his side of the bed, still curled up in a billion blankets.
He sets the plate of toast and her cup of tea on the nightstand near his side and sits on the bed, putting his hand against her forehead. She was still burning up.
"My love, wake up," Ed says softly, pulling the blanket away from her face so that she can breathe nicely. Lorraine groans and shakes her head. "Babe, c'mon. I have to give you some medicine. I also made you some tea and toast."
"Five more minutes, babe." She says in a hoarse voice before a crunchy cough comes out making the both of them wince.
"I think not. Take some medicine, eat something, and then you can go back to sleep." He replied, tucking her hair behind her ear, still trying to wake her up.
Finally, Lorraine's eyes opened, looking directly into Ed's soft blue eyes as he smiled down at her. She groaned and slowly sat up, pulling the blankets up with her as she leaned onto the headboard. Ed grabs the cough syrup from the nightstand and pours it into the spoon while Lorraine whines.
"I hate that thing." She says, sniffling while Ed chuckles.
"Well, it's the only thing that'll help you feel better."
"The only thing that'll help me feel better is if you cuddle me." Lorraine pouts at him making him smile.
"If you promise to take this and eat something then I'll cuddle with you."
His wife rolls her eyes before opening her mouth. Ed smiles and slips the spoon into her mouth. She grimaces as she swallows the bitter medicine. Ed places the spoon and syrup back on the nightstand and carefully grabs the hot cup of tea, handing it to her. Her slime fingers slip out of the blanket to grab the hot cup, instantly warming her hands. She sips onto the hot beverage and hums as it soothes her sore throat.
"Mmm, thank you, my love."
Ed smiles lovingly at her and rubs her legs through the blankets. He turns to grab the toast from behind him and feeds it to her.
"What about you? You're not going to eat?" Lorraine asks after taking a bite of toast and sipping the tea.
Her husband shakes her head and places it back on the plate, "No, I want you to eat first."
She shakes her head and takes the toast from the plate, putting it up to his mouth. "Bite."
"No, I made it for you. You eat."
" Bite, Ed." Even when sick, she will still make sure her husband eats with her and force him to eat when he doesn't want to.
Ed chuckles and takes a bit of the avocado toast. He hums and licks his lips, her eyes darting down to his mouth before looking back into his love-filled eyes.
"Yummy, huh."
He nods his head and smiles. "Now, you eat." He watches as she takes two more bites of toast and puts it back on the plate. He leans in to kiss her lips but she places her hand on his hard chest.
"No, baby. I don't wanna get you sick." She says with a small smile before letting out a cough and a small sneeze. Ed shrugs, "Does it look like I care."
Lorraine rolls her eyes and giggles. She pulls him in with his crucifix necklace and kisses his lips with a hum. "Happy?" She asked once they parted. Ed hums and pretends to think, "I think I need one more, just to be sure." She sighs and kisses him again. He gives her a boyish grin making her giggle again. As she finishes her tea, she watches as Ed finishes the last of the toast and takes the empty plate into his hand.
He then stands up to take the dishes and syrup away but she grabs his hand and pouts at him.
"Where are you going?" She whines like a little girl. Ed chuckles and looks down at her, "I'll be back. I'm going to put these away and I'll be back."
"Noo. Don't leave me alone." Lorraine looks up at him with her big, blue eyes. "You promised that you'd cuddle with me."
"I'll be back in two seconds, baby girl."
Lorraine lets out a cough and slips her bottom lip out at him, pouting even more. Ed sighs, places the cup and plate back onto the nightstand, and tells her to move over. Happily, she slides over and opens the blanket for him to cuddle next to her. Once he's sitting next to her, he wraps his big arms around her while she wraps the two of them into the billion blankets she has.
He kisses her burning forehead while she cuddles into his chest. Lorraine lets out a sneeze before sniffling.
"Whoever the hell gave me this cold is going to pay." She groans out making him laugh.
"What will they do to make it up to you?"
"I don't know, I'm too lazy to think of that right now."
Ed chuckles and plays with her hair while they sit in comfortable silence, the only thing being heard is Lorraine's wheezing and the birds chirping outside.
"Can I sit in your lap?" Lorraine says softly as she tries to wrap her arms around Ed.
"Is that even a question? Come here." Her husband replies, lifting her as if she weighed nothing and moving her in between his legs. She sighs contently as she turns her body around to lay on him and wraps her arms around him, kissing his chest right above his heart.
"I love you."
Ed smiles and runs his fingers up and down her spine. "I love you more."
"I don't think that's possible."
The two of them laugh before Lorraine starts coughing again. Groaning, she buries her face into his chest while he rubs her back. She looks up at him and smiles lovingly.
"My beautiful wife. My baby. The love of my life. My whole world, my everything." Ed says, kissing her all over her face at every word he says making her blush and feel butterflies in her stomach. "Even sick, you're still the most beautiful woman in the world and I am so, very lucky to have you as my wife and soulmate."
"And I am very lucky to be with you." Lorraine says softly as he cranes his neck to kiss her nose. She lets out a yawn and turns her head, burying her face into his chest once again. Feeling Ed rub her back and his heartbeat in his ear, she gets lulled to sleep while Ed watches over her, smiling contently at his wife before leaning his head back onto the headboard and closing his eyes.
