See you on Wednesday!

Chapter 295

Rowan ate her first breakfast alone in a long time and tried really hard not to be self-conscious. She usually ate alone in Andalucía when the boys were off on their ops, but that was at home in her own house. this was out in public where she felt that everyone was staring. At home she could blast loud music, watch TV and generally hold conversations with herself without anyone staring at her, she couldn't do that here.

She got through breakfast quickly and then went for a pre-disembarking massage. Once that was done, she packed up the rest of her stuff, and changed into her disembarking outfit that she had picked just for Conejo. She knew, since Conejo had not liked boats that he would be waiting for her just outside the port. Probably in an Audi. Probably in his leather jacket despite how hot it was here in the Bahamas. She had missed him, she was excited to see him, excited to sing him the new songs she had written. Wo Fat had already disembarked in the night. She had seen him off. She could have easily thrown him but he had not brought the energizing ray so she couldn't do it even if she wanted to.

She thought it was ridiculous that he was still refusing to go through Interpol check outs, but then again, she didn't want anyone to get arrested. She wasn't sure how she'd even get Wo Fat out if he were to be arrested. Not without having to find Conejo, getting to Andalucía to get her energizing ray then she'd probably have to pull him. But then… what if she did it while he was being interrogated. That would be one hell of a vanishing act.

Because she was so nervous about being on her own, she ended up being one of the first people in line to disembark. She and a few others had just stood there while the boat docked. There was no point playing with her phone cause it had no calling features, and the only people she could call were Nahele, Wo or Conejo. Wo was going to be out of service until he got back to land, she was literally just about to see Conejo and Nahele was supposed to be doing some special course in summer school to give him a leg up in college applications.

This left her bored and just staring longingly at the land as she waited to disembark the boat. Who would have thought that she would be excited to leave a Disney Cruise ship?

When the time came, she walked down the gang plank precariously in her favourite pair of red bottomed Louboutin heels. She was wearing Conejo's favourite dress, a navy-blue chiffon dress, knee length, opened backed, and lace strapped. She was wearing a matching navy-blue sun hat and her white cat-eyed sunglasses. Red lipstick, dark hair. She felt like Audrey Hepburn disembarking a steamer in a fancy blank and white movie.

It wasn't until she realized that uniformed men were waiting at the bottom of the gang plank that the worry kicked in. What did they want? Sure, not her, right? She was just a civilian on a cruise ship.

But she was the best way to get to Wo Fat after all.

She immediately scanned the crowd, of people awaiting passengers for Conejo, but she couldn't see him. Fuck, where was he? She forced herself to continue to walking, to act like there wasn't anything to be worried about. But the second she got close to them, one of them stepped up and in front of her.

"Rosie Bastian?" he asked. Rowan forced herself to smile.

"Yes?" she asked and then neatly tried to side step him. He wouldn't let her though.

"Aka: Rowan Pierce?"

Oh, fuck they knew her real name. Rowan came to a stop she just stared at them.

"Is there a problem?" she asked in a quiet voice trying to, sound autocratic and in control like Wo Fat always seemed to be.

"Yes, we have a warrant for your arrest," he said. A second officer stepped forward and grabbed her arm.

"For what? What could I have possibly done?" she asked but they didn't answer her. They yanked her so hard she dropped her suitcase "My bag!"

But they still didn't stop. "It'd be best if you just come with us, Miss. Pierce. Your stuff is the least of your concerns at this moment."

If looks could have killed that look Rowan was glaring into the side of the man's face would have stopped his heart right in his chest. But he was right. There was nothing she could do but let him drag her away.

Rowan sat in the interrogation room feeling very, very nervous. They had not left her alone since they had grabbed her. In fact, one of the officers had held onto her at all times. Now that she was in the room she had one sitting in front of her while the other went looking for files, apparently waiting to interrogate her. She had taken her shoes off and had them sitting on the table. They had given her a glass of ginger-ale which surprised her because it was her favourite drink and she hadn't asked for it. They knew things about her. That was not a good sign. She had indignantly refused to drink it and demanded a tea.

The first officer came back into the room. He had no files and a tea in his hand. "We're sorry for the inconvenience, Miss. Pierce," he said putting the tea in front of her. It was in a proper mug, not a paper cup, why was she getting such special treatment?

She took a sip. It was made just the way she liked it. How the hell did they do that? She didn't even tell him what to put it in it. She was hoping that he'd get it wrong and she'd make him play the guessing game to waste time. Con had to have realized she was taken by now, sooner or later he'd be coming to get her… right?

"Why exactly are you inconveniencing me?" she asked. "I'll have you know I'll be very displeased if I miss my check in on Paradise Island."

"I'm afraid you won't be making it to Paradise Island," he said. "We're going to be sending you home."

Rowan blinked her eyes confused. They were going to send her to Canada?

"Excuse me?"

"There's a warrant for your arrest in Hawaii. You are a person of suspicion in an active case there. We will be sending you back to Oahu," he told her.

Rowan blinked her eyes again. They were going to send her back to Hawaii? No… just no. "I'm sorry. Hawaii? Who the hell put an arrest out for me in Hawaii? I haven't even been there in… like… a year!"

"Five-0."

"Five-0?" she echoed. The man nodded. "Five-0? No, he did not do this to me! You can't send me back there." She took a deep breath and stared pleadingly at him. "Look the leader of Five-0 is my ex, he's only doing this to ruin my trip and probably my life! Don't be a party to his petty games and gross miss-use of Hawaiian resources!"

"And your association with Wo Fat?" he asked.

Rowan put her head in her hands. "He's my brother," she snapped. When he pinned her with a dry glare she added: "Adoptive brother. Not that it matters. I have no idea what he's doing and he wasn't travelling with me either, so I don't know what you expect me to know about him and his business. You also can't arrest me for association alone."

"But you are aware his business is all illegal, correct?" he shot back.

"Okay. Do I get a phone call? Can I get a phone call please?" she asked because he was clearly not listening to her.

He pulled out an ancient looking cellphone and put it down on the table before her. Ancient, like literally it was an old Nokia brick phone. The kind of phone Sandy wouldn't be able to get a hold of. Well shit. Rowan immediately picked it up and dialed the number she had memorized. She stared at the screen before picking up the courage before pressing the call button.

It rang twice before he picked up with a quick: "McGarrett." She thought her mouth would run dry like before but she was too angry to be nervous.

"Steven James McGarrett you absolute… door knocker!" Rowan shouted. "You put out another warrant for my arrest? How dare you! You tell these nice people to let me go right this instant!"

There was silence before she heard his voice again. "Rowan… Rowan just listen."

"No, I will not listen! This is the lowest blow you've ever even thought to land!" she cried. "We have talked about this, time and time again. And the governor was very clear. You don't get to just decide to arrest me because you're mad at me!"

"Rowan that's not what I…"

"SHUT UP!" she thundered and he fell silent. "If I wanted to go back to Hawaii I would have come back by now. Now stop being a control freak and tell them to let me go!"

He was silent moment and, in that moment, she swore she could hear the steady thrum of an engine. What kind of car was he driving that could be that loud? That stretch of silence continued for a long time before he whispered: "Put the officer on the phone please."

Rowan handed him the cell phone and the officer put it to his ear.

"Hello Commander McGarrett. I'm the officer in charge, Devin MacCain. We picked her up disembarking at the Disney Castaway Cay, just like you said we would. Yes, we did detain her as requested," he said. Rowan rolled her eyes. Stupid Steven trying to ruin her trip. What could he possibly gain from this? He was married, why was he still obsessing with her?

"Do you really think he'll make a play on her here?" he asked and Rowan's head whipped up. He meant Wo Fat. Steve thought Wo Fat was going to try and break her out of an Interpol holding cell? Really? Well, obvious he would, sooner or later he was going to come and get her.

"Alright, we'll keep her in our eye sight until your people can come to get her," he said and then hung up the phone. Rowan was already shaking her head. "We'll it seems we're not sending you home."

No, but she knew what he was going to do instead. "You're going to hand me off to Steve, aren't you?"

"Commander McGarrett is en route to pick you up," he said. Dear god it was a plane engine. He was on a military craft on his way to get her. "Put your shoes on Miss. Pierce, your car is on it's way and we're not letting you out of our sight until it gets here. Apparently, you're a little bit of Houdini."

Goddamn it, she couldn't even void away with these people on her. Well, she could but Wo Fat didn't want her opening portals in front of people. He was deathly afraid of any government realizing just how wonderful her void powers would be in war.

Rowan sighed but did as she was told. She was going to kill Steve. With her own bare hands. She was going to straight up murder him when she got a chance.

H5O-H5O-H5O-H5O

Wo Fat got a call from Conejo who had left Hawaii to meet Rowan in Bahamas the day before. He had done all the recon he needed which meant when he retuned to Hawaii in a few days, he'd be able to snatch up both Williams and Nahele and get them to Bahamas. He was supposed to be very sloppy with it so McGarrett would follow. Then, once he caught McGarrett during whatever rescue attempt McGarrett mounted, he'd sit him down and they'd negotiate the terms.

Terms he had drawn up already.

Steve had to marry Rowan. That was non-negotiable. As was Sanctuary staying online. From there they could discuss visitation rights. Once Rowan wasn't mad at him anymore, I'd like to see her at least once a month, time permitting and he would like to be allowed to speak to her at least once a week, though both of those points were negotiable.

He figured, to get Rowan back, Steven would pretty much agree to everything.

The call he got that morning, however, was Conejo reporting several things. For starters, Rowan got picked up by TSA when she disembarked Disney Dreams. He was on his own, and he had left his larger weapons in Hawaii which meant he couldn't get her out. On top of that, his contacts in Hawaii had informed him that McGarrett was on the move. He had left on a Military plane that morning and was on his way, you guessed it, to the Bahamas.

Booting up Sandy, Wo Fat got Rowan's location and the status of her arrest. They had her on hold and they had contacted, you guess it, McGarrett for further instruction. Further instruction from McGarrett meant that they were to hand her to Military personnel. Great. They were going to take her to a Naval base. This was a hand off. McGarrett would land, get a hold of Rowan and then put her back on a different plane bound for Hawaii.

There was no way to contact her, which meant she was going to be out of her mind freaked out. But that didn't even come close to how freaked out Wo Fat was.

He had to be the one who told Rowan what he had done. Because if she heard it from Steven, he'd blow it all out of proportion and make her hate him. If Rowan was going to hate him, he'd rather it be because he told her what he did, not have Steve explain it all wrong and twist what he did. He had to get to her before Steven did. He just had to.

So, he sent Conejo the coordinates for his own drop off point, with the instruction to meet with one of his associates to arm himself and pick up his car. By the time Wo Fat got off that boat to where Conejo was waiting for him, not only was Wo Fat angry he was ready.

Screw Steven, he thought. He did all this work to get the two of them back together and he had the nerve to do this to them, to put both Wo Fat and Rowan through this much stress? He was going to take Rowan back, and sure, she might be unhappy without Steve, but he'd steal back her car, steal back her kid, and then find a different guy to make her happy. He figured any guy would work, just had to find her type and hope that he stuck and Wo Fat could get him under his thumb.

If he got his way, Steven McGarrett was never going to see Rowan Pierce ever again.

H5O-H5O-H5O-H5O

The car they had sent for her was actually a military grade Hummer, a whole fleet of them actually, including two motorcycle officers. He had sent a motorcade to get her. As soon as she saw it, she groaned.

"Oh my god, could Steve be any more dramatic?" she asked no one in particular.

Devin MacCain, the officer in charge who had led her out there said: "He is very concerned for your well-being, wants nothing more than for you to be handed off to him safe and sound," he said in a patronizing tone. "Enjoy the ride."

"I hate you," she snapped as he handed her up into the truck.

The door shut behind her, handcuffs were slapped onto her wrists because they must have thought she was a flight risk or a danger to them. They lurched to a start and Rowan's stomach flip flopped.

"Uhm, you guys, I'm getting a bit motion sick would you mind if I sing? It'll help me feel better," she asked them.

The soldiers around her all exchanged glances before nodding to her. Rowan immediately started singing the one song that calmed her down. She wasn't even finished the first chorus when she heard: "We have a car following us, black Bugatti Veyron, and it's coming up fast.

Oh. Oh fancy car. Fast car. Black car. Okay so it wasn't an Audi but that had to be Wo Fat, that must have been all he could get at such short notice. She tried to hide her smile but instead kept singing.

Shots hit the air, she could hear them ricocheting off of the truck. "Fucking gun! They're shooting at us!"

"A second car is pulling up on the left!"

Rowan couldn't stop herself from turning. To see if she could see. But she couldn't see out of the back of the truck. It was covered. So she turned to the right and there it was a black Bugatti Veyron, just like they had said.

She could even see who was driving it and she knew who it was who was shooting from the sun roof. She had never been so happy to see Wo Fat and Conejo ever in her life.

The soldier beside her threw the door open to shoot at them and Rowan took her chance. She turned to the one beside her and said: "Hey wanna see a magic trick?"

Before he could stop her she slammed her fists against his while pulling the strings around him. Just like that the handcuffs around her wrists were now around his. He yelped trying to shake them free but she just smiled knowing that without the key he was screwed. She then turned to the soldier shooting at her rescue car and kicked him right out of the truck, he bounced off the hood of the Bugatti. Rowan stood, she had one shot, she was probably going to get herself severely injured but she wasn't going to Hawaii. She wasn't going to let Steve win.

She heard the shouts of the other soldiers, she saw the shout on Wo Fat's face though she couldn't hear it, they thought she was going to jump but she wasn't that stupid. She climbed up onto the roof of the vehicle, a clumsy move with one hand holding her shoes, thinking that it would be an easier vantage point. She wasn't on the roof for more than two seconds when a soldier appeared, grabbing her ankle. She didn't think twice she whipped her shoes at him, the clunky heels ricocheting off his head and the man fell away.

"What the hell?" was shouted at her and Rowan almost smiled. Oh Conejo. She could almost hear the pride in his voice. But when Rowan looked up, when she turned her eyes to the car her boys were driving in a look of recognition flashed over both Conejo and Wo Fat's faces.

"Don't you do it!" Conejo shouted again but it was too late. Rowan was going to do it. Luckily Wo Fat had been smart enough to accelerate so when she did jump instead of hitting the hood, she hit the top of the car. Conejo's gun was tossed away and hands dug into her arms to keep her from sliding right off.

"Open the goddamn window!" he ordered and when Wo Fat did Conejo helped her maneuverer through it and into the passenger seat

As soon as she was sitting beside him, she whispered: "I can't believe that worked."

"Neither can I, but we can marvel at it later," Wo Fat said and then swerved. He spun the car around and together they raced away. She didn't ask him where they were going. That wasn't what was important at that time. All that mattered was that they got away.

H5O-H5O-H5O-H5O

Wo Fat rushed her onto the boat but even though they got out onto the ocean without any trouble, Wo Fat still paced.

Rowan couldn't calm him down, though her attempts to calm him were interrupted by her sudden sea-sickness. It made no sense to him, they had just come off and cruise and been fine, but this boat was practically killing her. Conejo wasn't even trying to hide his anger at the situation. He still couldn't believe how close Steve had gotten to her. Everything would have been over the second she got to him. He knew it. Because Rowan still loved McGarrett. Because he had done nothing but lie to her and if she found out now she'd never forgive him.

Rowan joined him on the prow, she was wearing an ugly orange life vest that clashed with her dress. She was wearing men's black socks which he was going to assume was donated by Conejo.

"He wouldn't let me come above unless I wore it," she told him. Ah. She meant Conejo. He didn't quite trust her not to fall off. It was a smart move. Wo Fat didn't trust her either. He eyed her carefully. She had a ginger ale in her hand, and she wasn't heaving anymore so she must have been feeling better.

"You need to tell me what's happening, Wo," she said. "I can't help, I can't fight this with you unless I know."

Wo Fat looked away from her. "I don't know what to tell you."

"Well start with why Steve put both me and Rory on a no-fly list?" she asked. "Why does he have a warrant out for my arrest?"

Because Steve wants you back. Because he loves you. Because I tore you apart and he's finally realized that I've lied to you both. Because he knew it was the only way to find you.

These were all the things he should have said. Instead he went with the lie. "Probably for the same reason MI6 kidnapped you."

"To get to you?" Rowan cried. "He did all of this, ruined my trip, all to get to you?"

It was ironic. Because if Steve had just backed off, if Steve had just let them get to Paradise Island, Wo Fat would have brought him there. That had been the plan. Have one last week with Rowan, and then deliver McGarrett to her. He was going to send Conejo to kidnap Daniel because he was certain all of Five-0s would have followed if he took McGarrett's second favourite person and then he was going to force Rowan and Steve to marry.

Too bad Steve decided to jump the gun. Now he wasn't going to get her at all.

"I sent some business to Hawaii. Not permanently, it was a stopover in a port before heading to Japan. He must have taken offence, must have thought the best way to hurt me was to go for you," Wo Fat continued to lie.

Rowan sighed. She ran a hand over her face, no doubt wiping away frustrated or disappointed tears. The motion jerked at his heart strings. God he had put her through so much heart ache, all so he could keep her. He should have let go long before now, but he couldn't. He just couldn't. He loved his imouto and he wanted her to always be a part of his life. He slung and arm over her shoulders and pulled her into his side.

"What are we going to do?" she asked.

"We'll have to go underground," he answered. "Lay low. We'll get you a new identity. Sooner or later, he'll give up."

That was also a lie. Wo Fat was starting to realize that Steve wasn't ever going to give her up.

"Are we going to go back to Colombia?" she asked in a small voice.

"I don't want to, but it's the best place to hide you. I'd love to send you back to Spain, but if he found Rory, and you as Rosie Bastion, he might find the house. I've already called Armando, he's sending a plane for us," he told her.

"Okay, well… it would be easier to jump, you know?" she offered and he nodded.

"After Russia…"

"Yes, I know, but uh… if we're worried about Steve finding us…"

"It'll be fine Rowan, I got this. We're trying to not bring more attention to you and your powers. Mackie's unit reported strange going ons with you and I'm still trying to quash that."

"Alright, so long as you're sure." Rowan rested her head on his shoulder. She sighed softly. "It'll be nice to see everyone again. Maybe work on my songs. We can… we can bring Nahele there too, right? I know that… Steve's after us but… I kinda miss him and you know… he misses me to. We could do that right? If I'm going to go underground for a long time I'd like to have him. Yeah, this will be alright. Besides, if Steve was on his way here… maybe Con could go and get him before Steve gets back?"

Wo Fat said nothing. Because it had to be okay. It really had to be, because the only other option was to lose the only family he had.
