Chapter 339

As soon as dinner was done Steve led Rowan out into the hotel lobby. She thought they'd go straight to a court house to get married, opened or not, she was sure Steve could get it done tonight. But instead, he was leading her towards the hotel ballroom.

"Where are we going?" she asked him. "I would have thought you'd want to take me right upstairs to celebrate."

"Well, you see, I have a bit of surprise for you," he replied illusively.

"Another surprise?" Rowan echoed. "Oh Steven, I don't think I can handle any more surprises."

Steve turned to her, a warm smile on that handsome face of his. He took both of her hands in his larger more powerful ones and he looked down to her.

"I must say, I've very glad you chose this dress," he told her. "I can't believe he got you to pick it, I mean… he said he'd be able to but I didn't believe him…"

"Steven what are you talking about?" she asked. "No one helped me pick this dress. I picked this dress cause it looks good with my tanned skin and since I thought you were going to break up with me I figured I'd go with a stunning dress that would render you too speechless to do so."

Steven suddenly stopped and turned to her surprise all over his face. "You thought I was going to leave you?" he asked, his voice barely a whisper.

"Shut up. You've been distant and I thought, I don't know. I was just worried you had gotten overwhelmed again and was going to try to push me away. I didn't know it was cause you were planning to propose," she replied being sure to fix her eyes on the bow tie and not his face.

"Well you made a good choice. You look absolutely stunning," he replied. "And it's going to work nicely with the next surprise."

He let go of her hands and smiled to her. From the shadows Wo Fat appeared and Rowan couldn't help but frown. He was wearing a dusty pink suit, with a black shirt underneath. He had a white rose pinned to his lapel and a serious look on his face, like he was ready to go to war.

"Wo? What are you doing here? Who's with Nahele?" she asked but her brother ignored her.

"Everything's ready to go. You go in, I'll get her ready," he said to Steve.

"Ready? What the hell is going on Steve?" she asked. She looked back and forth between their faces but neither of them said anything.

"You'll see when you get inside," Steve said. He swept in and kissed her one last time before she could grab him and make her tell him what was going on, he disappeared, slipping into the ballroom.

Rowan merely had to turn her unimpressed eyes to Wo Fat for him to say: "It's a wedding, stupid."

Rowan wacked him as hard as she could. "What do you mean a wedding?" she cried and then she hit him again. "And don't call me stupid."

He pulled a veil out of who knows where and began arranging it in her hair. "When you get in there, act surprised," Wo ordered.

He turned again and handed her a bouquet of flowers, all her favourites in white. "Did you help him with this?" she asked.

"Of course. We had an extensive talk about what you wanted when you got married, remember? Well, this is the best I could do on such short notice," Wo replied.

"Short notice?" Rowan echoed.

"Asshole wakes me up in the middle of the night Hawaii-time, early morning here, to fucking tell me he's going to propose to you as soon as possible. Took me forever to bargain him down from getting the perfect wedding by sunset to at least giving me a few days. I got two by the way. Two days to set this up and get all your friends and family here. Everything else was pretty easy, nearly killed that Ex of yours though," Wo replied. "You didn't give him the song did you?"

"No, course not," she replied.

"Alright, I'm gonna go inside. I'm the Man of Honor you know. Kono was gonna fight me for it, but I talked her out if. Well actually, I had to compromise. She's Maid of Honor and I'm Man of Honor, but if anyone asks it was just me. I did everything anyway. Junior's gonna walk you down the aisle," he said heading for the door. Was Junior who she thought it was? "Just listen to Junior, okay?"

As soon as Wo Fat slipped in through the doors, Nahele slipped out. She might have said something about how he looked so very handsome, but there was this glaring black eye staring back at her.

Her hands reached out for his face but he shied away. "Oh! What happened to your face?"

Nahele winced a bit. "Can we talk about it after the wedding? Can you tell me how I look instead?"

Yeah, they were definitely going to talk about that later. But he was right, she was about to get married and she didn't want to be angry right before walking down the aisle.

"Of course. You look handsome," she whispered. He was wearing a suit similar to Steve's. A sleek lighter shade of navy blue, white rose pinned to his lapel, and a matching navy tie. She instinctively reached up to straighten it even though it was already straight.

"Look at you, Mom. You've never looked so pretty," he replied. "Are you ready?"

"I don't know. Maybe? Should I be worried?" she asked.

"Naw. I mean. Steve looked a little ashen this afternoon during the brief walkthrough of what to expect, but Uncle Oz told him if he tries to make a run for it, he'll shoot him in the spine," Nahele replied. Rowan inwardly groaned, oh wasn't that just wonderful? "I should be surprised he's packing heat, but I'm not. Is that bad?"

"Yes. I've endeavored to be a good role model and failed," she whispered.

Nahele put his arm around her shoulders and squeezed her tight. "You and Da… Steve have been the only good thing in my life for a very, very long time," he told her.

Rowan put an arm around the boy she had adopted. She dropped her head to his shoulder. There were no words for her to say so they just stood there in silence until they heard the music start to play even through the doors. At that point Nahele took the arm away from her shoulder and offered it to her instead.

"It's time," he told her.

Rowan breathed out. She was going to do this. Really? Right now. Right at this moment. Oh boy. Oh dear. She wasn't ready. Or prepared. Or anything.

"Give me a second. I'm a bit nervous," she whispered.

"Please don't try to make a run for it. I don't think Uncle Oz will shoot you, but I'm sure he'll tackle you to the ground at the very least," Nahele warned her.

Rowan broke out in loud laughter. It would be between him or Steve. Though knowing her brother, he'd probably just help her make the break for it. It was Steve who would probably tackle her.

"No, we can't have that can we?" she asked him.

So, she laced her arm with his and walked through the doors.

The wedding had been spectacular.

All their family and friends were there.

Danny was Steve's best man, with Nahele, Chin Ho and Grover standing beside him as groomsmen.

Rowan had Wo Fat as her Man of Honor with Conejo as a brideman, while Kono was her Maid of Honor and Grace was a bridesmaid.

Joanie had been the flower girl throwing petals everywhere, landing mostly on her head, she then stood in front of Kono waving to her mommy every couple of seconds who was sitting with Danny's brother Matt. Charlie was the ring bearer and was standing in front of Danny ready to offer them up to him when the time was right.

They had their Five-0 family in the seats, Grover's wife, Renee, and children, Duke and his wife, Kamekona and Flipper, Max and Sabrina, Abby, Sam Denning the ex-Governor and his wife, even Catherine and Billy were there. That was a bit surprising, but Rowan was willing to look that over.

Even Joe White had come off assignment to be there. They might have worried that he'd make a move on Wo Fat, seeing as the two had never liked each other, but Joe was just beaming at Steve. Dressed to the nines in his own dress blues.

Then there was Alex and his band mates playing an acoustic guitar version of Pachelbel's Canon.

Jian Hui was sitting in the front row staring up at Wo with much adoration. And behind them were Juan Carlos and Armando and the Liang family, including their new, younger, foster child. There would have been more if her real family were still in her life but she was grateful for the new family she had. As it was such a little group they weren't separated by sides but instead sat wherever they wanted.

Steve had changed into his dress blues, looking ever so goddamn handsome in his matching cap with all his medals and pins on his puffed-out chest. In fact, he didn't look the least bit ashen as she walked down the aisle with Nahele on her arm. He looked like he might cry out of sheer happiness.

The vows were said, there hadn't been time to create their vows, this being a surprise. But the standard vows still had everyone in the room shedding a tear, including the usually emotionless McGarrett.

The rings were then exchanged. Her ring was a rose-gold ivy band made to fit her engagement ring. His, a band of onyx with a simple small diamond the shape of a star. Objections were asked for and all eyes went to Catherine and Alex. Both Con and Wo put a hand to their hips, where their guns were concealed and glared at them both. Daring them to say anything. They were met with silence and the couple was pronounced man and wife. The two kissed and the party started.

The chairs and alter were put away. A table of food was brought out for their guests, the food, of course, provided by Kamekona and Flipper who she heard had commandeered the hotel kitchen that afternoon. They were set up as a buffet style so they could go and help themselves. Steve and Rowan had already eaten but she was definitely going to get hungry later on.

The band began to warm up. When they were ready the band began to play and the couple had their first dance as husband and wife.

A lovely waltz to Can't Help Falling in Love.

If the onlookers paid close attention they could see both Rowan and Steve singing the lyrics to each other. They could see the unshed tears in Steve's eyes and the way Rowan's smile widened with pride at every turn Steve took her through without stumbling or dropping her.

The act of teaching Steve the waltz had been the longest process. It involved him dancing with Wo Fat originally until Wo put him with Danny. When their bickering became too much for Wo Fat, Danny was substituted for Nahele. Even as they waltzed Wo could see Steve missing steps but Rowan hadn't noticed, or if she did, she couldn't have cared less. She was staring up at Steve with such wonderful abandon, blue eyes sparkling with happy tears, she didn't care about missed steps, she cared that Steve was hers.

The inviting of Catherine had been a gamble, and done simply because Wo Fat had wanted her to know that Steve was officially off the market. Neither Steve nor Rowan had any idea that Catherine was going to be there until they saw her already in her seat beside Billy. But if either were upset about it wasn't shown, nor had Catherine caused any problems. She seemed as genuinely happy for them as Rowan and Steve seemed genuinely happy to have her there with them.

With the first dance done, the real party began.

Out came the liquor, the bad dance moves and the throwing of the bouquet. The bouquet was fought over by Kono, Grace and Jian, before eventually going to Grace. Who was then forced to give the bouquet to Jian by Danny which sparked a whole argument between all the girls present and Danny. Rowan settled it by giving them all a flower to keep from the bouquet.

After that there was laughter and fun for all. Pictures were taken to commemorate the night that the little family had just gotten a little bit bigger.

The bride and groom danced with everyone.

Rowan danced with Wo Fat, Nahele, Conejo, Danny, Chin, Kono, Grover, Wo Fat again, Juan Carlos, Armando, Kamekona, Max, Flipper, Wo Fat again, Charlie, Billy, Grace, Duke, and Wo Fat one more time, but most of her dances were with Steve who couldn't keep his hands off her.

While Rowan was dancing, Steve danced with Grace, Renee, Duke's wife, Charlie, Danny more than once, Jian Hui, Sabrina, Kono, Chin, Abby and even Catherine. Rowan didn't even interrupt them.

At one point, during a waltz Rowan was sharing with Wo Fat, Steve and Danny waltzed together to prove to Wo Fat that he had learned the waltz regardless of what Wo Fat thought.

And then came the final surprise.

He did it because he knew Rowan would have had she been planning the wedding herself. He got Doris to attend.

She showed up late into the evening as the party was dying down. Wo Fat took Rowan and Steve aside and pulled them into the shadows of the patio. As soon as they got close Doris threw her arms around her son, kissing him on the cheek. When she was done with Steve she did the same to Rowan, her new daughter.

They talked for a bit, Wo Fat standing to the side, looking in. As always.

Jian appeared beside him, lacing her arms with his. She hadn't liked Rowan. Didn't trust her. Thought her to be a threat. Yes they had talked about it, yes she had said that she was fine with Rowan being around him now and wouldn't try to separate the two adopted siblings anymore, but he wasn't sure he believed her. Was worried she'd get jealous again and make him choose between her and his sister.

He hadn't had to ask if she would come to the wedding, though, as soon as he told her what McGarrett was planning she had been excited to attend as his date. Had immediately started asking questions about what he'd be wearing so she could match.

And the nude floor length tulle skirt with sequined low cut, low backed halter top looked wonderful on her and complimented his suit nicely.

"I like your imouto," she whispered to him.

Imouto.

Little sister. She liked his little sister. He smiled down to Jian. "Yes, I'm quite fond of her too."

He waited until they were done with Doris to step up to Rowan, his imouto. As soon as he was close enough she wrapped him in a large hug.

"Thank you for the wedding," she whispered into his ear. "It was wonderful."

She then wrapped Jian Hui up in a hug she didn't want but suffered through regardless. "And thank you for coming."

While the girls talked McGarrett pulled Wo Fat in for a bro hug. "Thank you for this, really, thank you."

"You're welcome," he said quickly and then went into the inside jacket pocket fishing for something he was sure he brought with him. "I have a present for you two."

"Oh, you didn't have to do that," Rowan said to him. "With all the work you did on the wedding this was enough."

"Oh trust me, you'll want this," he said handing Rowan the slip of paper.

He watched her look it over, watched Steve press into her side so he could read it over her shoulder. "This is a receipt," she said absently. "For… a ring?"

She looked up to him surprised. "You really did pay for the ring?" Steve asked.

"I told you not to worry about it, not my fault you took that as I was lying," he told them.

Rowan threw herself at him, hugging him tightly. "Thank you, thank you, thank you," she said into his shoulder. But it was Steve who said: "You lie about everything, why would I believe you about the ring?"

Wo Fat ignored him and instead held Rowan back as tightly as he could. This girl who taught him to feel again. She was so important to him, she was his only family.

"You're welcome Rowan," he whispered into her hair. Steve nodded to him as Rowan stepped back, immediately their hands were intertwined as if Steve couldn't bear to be apart from her and after everything they had gone through Wo Fat thought his feelings were more than justified. Wo Fat smiled at them. The perfect couple. One day he'd love to have someone to love the way Steve and Rowan loved each other.

He glanced back to Jian Hui who was the closest to that kind of love he had found. Maybe it would grow into it something like Steve and Rowan had.

And with the final gift given, the party began to dwindle down and the guests all returned to their rooms.

H5O-H5O-H5O-H5O

*This part contains smut, skip if need be*

Exhausted didn't even begin to cover it. Rowan couldn't wait to get back to their hotel room to get out of her shoes. So much so that in the elevator she took them off entirely. Sinking three inches immediately.

They had given up their massive hotel room for the family and guests who were staying up there with them. Nahele, Con and Wo were all in that hotel room, Wo with Jian at that. They didn't want to keep them up with any late night love making noise so Wo Fat had booked them out a secondary room that night for this very purpose.

She had lost her veil at some point during the party. One of her pearl earrings was missing too and the hotel staff on the hunt for it. Her lips stick was faded from all the times Steve kissed her, and her mascara was slightly smudged from the happy tears she had cried.

Steve's hair was sticking up funny from all the times Danny, Chin, Adam and Grover kept putting their arms around Steve's neck and giving him congratulatory noogies. His lips stained a light pink from all the times he had kissed her. His tie had been untied and left hanging, his shirt was already part way undone. His jacket was off and slung over his shoulder and he too was as exhausted as his new wife.

They got to their room and quietly made their way through to the bed. Rowan threw her shoes on floor and went about taking her jewelry off. Steve threw his jacket on the bed, and unbuttoned his cuffs. He glanced over to where Rowan was standing by the bedside, her back to him as she took off her pearls. He could see the white starburst scar between her shoulder blades. A constant reminder that the reason he had her was because fate dropped her in his lap.

Rowan nearly jumped out of her skin when his hands found her shoulders. The length of his body pressed against her back, his breath hot against her neck. She felt his hands on the back of her dress, felt the zipper go down and then her dress slid off her body pooling at her feet.

She turned to Steve, his hands skimming down her sides. His eyes on her white bralette and matching lacy underwear. His fingers traced up and down her sides, one hand came up to cup her cheek as she went about unbuttoning his shirt.

He let her peel his shirt away from his shoulders and down his arms. She got to his buckle, managed to undo it and suddenly his hand had clasped behind her neck, pulling her to him. Her body hit his, her hands splayed across his chest as his mouth slid over hers.

His hands framed her face. Her arms encircled his neck, jumping up to her tippy toes to get closer to him. A sound escaped him. A strangled moan. Her fingernails dug into his shoulders and that was when he pulled away from her. Her blue eyes searched his. Her fingers traced the outline of his jaw.

His hands shook as he unhooked the bra so much so that he couldn't unhook it. His body trembled as her hands pushed down the waistband of his dress pants. He kissed her again, this time softly, holding her to his chest, feeling of inch of her against him and his shaking vibrated through her.

He poured her onto the bed, coming to hover on top of her. His eyes cloudy with passion, staring at her as if he were seeing her for the very first time. She raised her finger tips to his jaw, her thumb running over his lower lip. Tears were welling up in his eyes, his chest was heaving as if he had just come back from a run. She knew this look, knew it off by heart.

She pulled him down to her. Pulled his hot body down to her cool one, pressing up until every inch of her skin was against his. She held him as he quaked. She pressed kisses to his shoulder, to his neck. Nibbled on his ear until he groaned.

His hands slipped under her back. Her bralette finally came undone. Thrown across the room before Rowan could slip it away. His mouth came down on her freshly bared skin, hot and hungry. She squirmed beneath his wandering hands and suckling mouth. One of his hands skimmed down her body, over her stomach and down her thighs, before travelling in between her legs and then down her lace panties.

She stifled her moan by sinking her teeth into his tatted shoulder. Steve's groan of pleasure vibrated through her breast and he rewarded her by both sinking a finger into the liquid heat pooling between her legs and by nipping the taunt nipple he had captured in his mouth.

Rowan writhed in earnest then. Her fingers threaded through his hair, her other hand gripped his ribs, hanging on for dear life. He pulled his head away from her breasts to kiss her. Slowly and leisurely like he had all the time in the world while she was desperate to feel him inside her.

"Please, Steve, now," she whispered to him as his lips travelled down her jaw to that sweet spot on her neck, right below her ear.

"Soon," he replied, a second finger slipping into her causing her gasp.

She shook her head. "No. Now," she breathed out.

Steve kissed her again, his fingers slipping out of her. He moved away, his hands framing her hips. She raised them so he could pull the panties off of her. While he was distracted with sitting up to throw her panties across the room, Rowan sat up too finally managing to get into his boxers. He came free in her hands and the gasp that echoed through the room as her mouth took all of him almost made her laugh.

She ran her tongue over the tip of him and his hands came to grip the back of her head.

Oh Gods filled the room as she bobbed up and down. But it wasn't until she heard the fuck escape him that she stopped. Slowly letting him fall out of her mouth and then tilting her head back to smile up at him.

A hand cupped her chin as he stared down at her with wonder. As if he couldn't believe she was there with him. She helped him get rid of the rest of his clothes and then once they were free of all barriers she gently pulled him back down to the bed.

He came between her legs, she spread them for him, enveloping him in her arms as he hovered above her. She was ready, she was practically on the verge of begging him for it, but there was something in his gaze, something that made her stomach flutter.

He kissed her again, deeply. His tongue duelling hers. When he slipped into her she was expecting it, her hips raised to take all of him, her head thrown back disengaging their kiss as she reveled in the ecstasy he could bring her by just being inside her. When she brought her eyes back to stare into his he slowly began thrusting, she understood then. This wasn't like their usual fervent love making, this was something softer, meant to savour every inch of her.

Her arms wrapped around his neck, her hands felt each ripple of his back muscles with each delicious thrust. Each one deeper than the next. A hand travelled to her thigh, fingertips dinging into her skin to get that leg she threw over his lower back to go even higher and so he could get even deeper.

There were no words to describe the feeling. The way they came together, body mind and soul. The way they became one. One heart beating in two different chests. Their love encompassed them, it became everything, stretching until it filled up every nook and cranny of their bodies. When they reached their climax it was together, as one, their lips pressed together swallowing each other's cries of ecstasy.

Finished Steve collapsed beside her, pulling her to his chest and sighing contently into her ear. Their hands linked. Their wedding bands clinking silently as their fingers intertwined. Rowan found herself staring at them, the way the rings looked on their fingers. The way they looked when they held hands. The onyx band a stark comparison to the sparkling rose-gold of hers. Different but the same. Like them.

"I love you Rowan Pierce," he whispered into her ear, his voice thick with sleep. "I love you more than anything else in this world."

Rowan turned in his arms, her nose a hair's breadth away from his. "And I love you Steven McGarrett in this universe and all the others," she whispered to him. She put a hand to his cheek. "But you got something wrong."

His eyebrows drew together in confusion. Fear passed over his handsome features. "I'm not Rowan Pierce anymore. I'm Rowan McGarrett now."

Steve laughed and pulled her closer. A hand took the back of her head to tilt her face to look back up at him. His mouth hot and heady taking hers fully. For a long while that's how they stayed. Intertwined, noses close together, lips ready to plie kisses from one another until the exhaustion began to tug back at them. Moments later they were asleep. They fell asleep pressed together. Noses millimetre's apart, intertwined heart, body and soul.
