A/N: Happy Friday my wonderful readers. So it's a slightly late chapter but not as bad as it's been. And it ends with some drama because the episode is not done yet. That's right there's still more bullshit, but do you know what we get to look forward too? Some really cute stuff really soon. I'm not lying, Christmas is around the corner and someone's going to be added the family on an official level. Cool am'I'right? Trust me, the wait will be worth it! As always don't forget to leave a review or drop a fav or follow and I'll see you guys on Monday!
Chapter 355
Chin was gone. Rowan was gone. Sin Nombre was gone. Jorge's car had been taken, no doubt by them. Armando was not panicking, Sandy was quiet, and there was nothing from Wo Fat either.
That meant this was a play. Rowan had a play and she hadn't let him in on it or taken him with her. He was hurt.
He had tried calling them but all their phones were in the kitchen. She had purposely gone offline for this. Steve was starting to get anxious only because everyone else seemed to goddamn calm about this situation.
"Right, so… can you please tell me what her play is?" Steve asked Armando for the millionth time.
"Can't."
"Why?!"
"Because I don't know," Armando finally admitted. Steve had asked like twenty times by this point, and he was only telling him now that he had no idea what was going on? "To be honest, she hasn't communicated it with me. I know she's mad though. I know Sin Nombre brought a heavier arsenal than usual with him. Oh, and this sci-fi looking pistol that he shot her with..."
So she was going in charged. That didn't bode well for anyone but at least he wouldn't get hit with any twinges.
"I know that the last time Carlos Diego came after people she cared about, she hit a level of angry not even I had ever seen before. And no, McGarrett I will not be telling you about the Colombia incident."
So, Diego really was apart of the Colombia Incident. He must have been what pushed Rowan into that state, that put Rowan through her first portalling incident with Wo Fat. It's the only reason why Steve could think that the three men, plus Rowan would be scared of him.
"Okay, well what can you find out, hmm?"
"I can make a call, see if Wo Fat will answer, or see if anyone has seen them. She's rather distinctive."
No she wasn't, not anymore, not without the fire red and blonde hair. He let Armando leave and that was one hell of a mistake because Kono came in not seconds later and hissed: "Armando is gone."
"Did he take a car?" Steve asked and she shook her head.
"I mean he stepped out of the door and just dropped."
Well fucking great. So Rowan had pulled Armando but not him? That was NOT fair. She was supposed to trust him more, he should have been pulled too. Why didn't she want him involved in this?
Incoming voice note from Master.
That was Sandy. Why was Wo Fat sending them a note through Sandy? Why couldn't he use his phone like a regular person?
"Hey McGarrett. I'm dropping you coordinates. Get here fast if you want in on this. Cause we're about to fuck shit up."
Aw fuck! That was why! They were going in on hot and they were only telling Steve now. And if that were the case that meant Rowan was doing void shit and she hadn't pulled him to keep him from potentially messing with her powers.
He felt better, if that really was the case, but only by a little bit.
"We gotta go fast guys," he called but they were already rushing for the door leaving the confused Moraleses behind with Nahele on the couch with a book he was not interested in at all but had nothing else to do.
There was silence after their cars sped away and then the front door opened again and a man in a white Rabbit masked poked in his head in.
"Oh Hey Uncle Con!" Nahele cried and the Moraleses calmed down slightly. If Nahele knew him that meant that this strange man was, at least, with Rowan or Steve.
"Hey Kid," he said looking around. "McGarrett leave yet?"
"Yeah…"
"Aces," he said and then he disappeared again. When his head appeared again he was ushering someone into the room. "Kay mi chiquilla, in you go, go see your Tía and Tío."
Maria squealed and rushed towards Sara, wrapping her up in a huge hug, followed quickly by Jorge.
The man in the rabbit mask was staring at Nahele. "You gonna be good here?"
"Yeah."
"Aces, Nos vemos!"
And then just like that the door shut and the little family went back to celebrating the return of Sara, and Nahele went back to his book.

Chin stood there watching the men by the Jeep. They were already there when he got there and he had been a few minutes late because he had done what Rowan had asked and dropped her and Sin Nombre off. On this dusty stretch of road ten minutes away from the drop point. If it were anyone else he would have been worried, but even if she didn't have powers, she was with Sin Nombre, and he figured nothing could happen to her with that psycho standing beside her.
They had no weapons, other than whatever Sin Nombre had brought with him, so he wasn't worried about that when the men with their guns came forward to frisk him.
Once they were certain he was clean they went back to the black SUV and opened the door.
Clearly the expected Sara to walk out of it, but it was Rowan who came out of that car. Putting her hand on the man's shoulder to help her get out.
The shock on their faces was priceless.
"What's the matter boys?" she asked them. "Not what you expected?"
They all backed away from her, none of them daring to raise their weapons. Already Chin was heading towards the car he came in, because he could guess what was coming next. Simply because Rowan hadn't exactly told him what it was she was going to do, but Sin Nombre seemed calm so Chin figured he knew what to expect.
The men all twittered in their Spanish, Chin had no idea what they were saying, but Rowan seemed to understand.
"You're right, I'm not the little girl. I'm Rowan. Rowan Pierce," she said and then all took yet another step away from her, guns starting to raise in her direction, but Rowan didn't seem to care. "I feel bad for you, I really do, because I'm guessing he didn't tell you that he was messing with La Bruja."
They opened fired at that point but that translucent shield popped up in front of her. The bullets all bounced off of it and she stared at them passively as if all of this was boring.
She took her hands and pushed at nothing but that translucent shield shot forward taking the men off of their feet, and that's when the change happened.
Along with portals opening up, Rowan's face had darkened. Her hands were outstretched at her sides, palm up to the sky and with it the electric orange bolts changed from wrapping around her to all dancing out of the earth and to the sky.
Behind her the two cars they had come in lifted up off of the ground. By then Chin was back in Jorge's car watching with wide eyes. When Rowan said she was going to deal with it he didn't really think that she meant she'd do this. Levitating hadn't been one of her powers before, when did she learn to do this?
One car was tossed like it was a ball, bouncing into a few of the men, and then second followed. They were all screaming, but when they turned to run, they ran into a literal firing squad.
Wo Fat, Armando and Sin Nombre all stood there, SMGs in their hands. They all opened fired on the remaining men while Rowan put up her shields again. One in front of her and one in front of Chin in the car.
Aw, she was protecting him. That was really nice of her.
When the shooting stopped and the shields lowered, Chin peeked up to see the three men that had appeared were lowering their guns. Rowan was standing in the middle of the carnage her hands covering her eyes. Wo Fat was heading towards her while the other two men were darting to each body first to ensure that everyone was dead. Once that was confirmed they dragged the bodies to the side of the road and out of view.
As Wo Fat clasped Rowan to his chest to keep her from opening up her eyes and seeing dead bodies, Chin got out of the car.
By the time he got to them, a few extra shots had popped off and the bodies had been moved which meant that Rowan could pull her head out of Wo Fat's chest. It also meant that Chin could ask the very important question that was on his mind.
"Where's Sara, Rowan, was she in the car?" Chin asked and she turned her weary eyes to him. She looked tired and he assumed, if she was this tired, that she had used a lot of her power on this little attack. But then again, he figured it would take a lot of energy to lift and toss a car like it was a ping pong ball, and she had done it to two cars. One SUV and on Jeep, they were heavier than a regular car.
"Course. If she hadn't been in the car this would have been a lot worse," she said. "She's back at the house. I had Con take her."
Behind Wo, Sin Nombre's white rabbit mask nodded. Chin visibly relaxed, Sara was safe, this was all over. Thank the lord.
"Did anyone else notice that Diego was not here?" Rowan asked and the three men exchanged glances.
It was Armando who cleared his throat and said: "He uh…. He appears to have gone back into hiding. We're trying to locate him."
Rowan sighed, heavily, wearily, clearly frustrated.
"It'll be okay, Ro," Wo Fat said to her. "We'll find him, you'll see, everything will be okay."
"I'd feel better if he was dead."
Oh harsh. Rowan was usually the forgiving one.
"What do you want me to do, Rowan? He's not here, now is he?" Wo snapped. "Look you got enough energy to toss Con to him? Do you?"
Rowan rested against him, or, more accurately, she was leaning against him as if she couldn't stand up on her own. Her hands dipping into his pockets before coming back from his back pocket with twizzlers in her hand. Well damn why did he have those?
"I can't get the strings to stop vibrating," Rowan said softly and then she began to peel apart her twizzler. He could tell by the look on Wo Fat's face that he was softening. Right so that ended that side of the argument.
Tires were heard on the dirt road and the three men with guns turned, each going for their weapon, except for Wo Fat, who's arms wrapped around Rowan as if to shield her from an attack. Chin wasn't worried, though, because a grin had stretched over Rowan's face. The cars came to a stop, Rowan outstretched a single hand, got half of his name out of her mouth and Steve practically tuck-and-rolled right out of that car and then practically sprinted the distance between them to get to her.
He snatched her up out of Wo Fat's arms and then crushed her to his chest.
"Nice of you to join us McGarrett."
Steve shot Wo Fat a scowl and snarled: "Might have been here quicker if you had told me this was happening."
"Didn't want you to mess with her powers," Wo said with a shrug.
Steve glanced down to Rowan who was pillowed against him, almost limply. "Is that true?"
She turned watering blue eyes up to him and a frown creased his face. "I'm so tired Steven."
Steve had her up in his arms bridal style within seconds. "Alright baby, we'll argue about this later, okay?"
"Okay," she said as her head rested against his shoulder. "Do you still love me though?"
Steve shook his head. "Course I do."
"Oh good. Then let's go home."
Chin couldn't help but smile. He very much wanted to go home too.
H5O-H5O-H5O-H5O
Steve actually relinquished the driving to someone else, opting to sitting in the back with Rowan curled him to him. She was exhausted and for some reason desperate to cling to him.
Wo had been worried, when he saw those cards being to levitate, because that was not one of her powers before, nor had he or Con see that before.
They all drove together back to the Morales' house where Nahele came running out to see if his parents were okay. They were. And then bombarded his uncles with hugs and questions.
While Nahele was distracted, Steve took Rowan into one of Morales' rooms and tucked her into bed so she could rest.
Wo Fat got to see Chin reunited with his niece, and noted hat everyone was rather tearful, maybe he should have been tearful too, but honestly, he really didn't care that much.
It was when things had quieted down and the Moraleses were feeding them that Steve started the questions.
"So, uh… what was going on here? Was this really about us?"
Wo thought back to the intel he got and how it didn't sit right with him. But he didn't want to worry them, he just wanted to be certain that they got Rowan out of this country ASAP.
"From what I know, yeah."
"But you guys knew that the drop we were going to was a trap. And you knew that they were going to contact chin."
"We reasoned that the drop was a trap," Wo Fat said. "Rowan's strings confirmed it, but Sara was supposed to be there. Armando sent men down to ensure her safe return, and you know, to combat the shooters Deigo sent. They didn't call Chin, he called them. Rowan just happened to overhear him."
Steve shot a look to Chin who nodded. "Partially that's true. I did call the kidnappers, but Rowan must have known I was going to do that because she was on the roof of the gazebo listening in on my conversation."
Wo Fat shrugged. "Fine. Then Rowan knew about it."
"Who cares?" Armando asked. "It worked didn't it?"
"I would have liked to be looped in," Steve said. "I'd like to know how she got Sara away from them in the first place. Chin says she was in the car when they opened it. Someone should have been in that car watching Sara, it's the smart move here. So how did you guys manage that."
Wo thought about how Con had said Rowan had opened up the door to that jeep where they were holding Sara. There had been a man in the back with the child, but she had clapped a hand over his mouth and thrown him out of the car and into a portal. Con hadn't been sure where she had sent him, he had a feeling that Rowan had no idea where she sent him either, but it probably wasn't for him.
She had then handed him Sara, popped him a portal and put herself in the car.
"We were going void heavy and you have a tendency to pull her when you worry. With Sara's life on the line she didn't want to chance it. And she
Beside him Sin Nombre sat a little straighter. His eyes looking towards the window. The man, prior to this had been shoveling food into his face. For someone who was so lean he sure did put it away. Maybe he had a tape worm.
There was a squeal of tires on the pavement and he turned his eyes to the door. Steve watched him, the paranoia that had a hold of the man. Wo Fat didn't even look him, he put a hand to Sin Nombre's arm.
"It was just a car, down boy."
Sin Nombre shot Wo Fat a scowl and then abruptly stood up and moved away from the table.
"Where are you going?" Wo asked him clearly concerned.
"Perimeter check," Sin Nombre said heading, not towards the back door, but to Rowan.
"Right, I should head out too. La Familia will be worried," Armando said also standing. "Don't worry Jorge I won't tell anyone that we collaborated for this little venture."
The man thanked him shakily while Armando headed towards the door, stopping only to clap a hand to Wo Fat's shoulder as a parting gesture. Wo Fat answered by raising his glass to him in toast.
Once he was gone Steve leant a little closer and asked: "Can I hear about the Colombia incident now?"
Wo Fat took a long swing of his drink which was iced tea with more than generous splash of something alcoholic provided by the flask Armando kept in his breast pocket.
"No."
"But… this whole situation was solved by what happened. Ramirez said that the last time Rowan was here fucking things up it messed with the hierarchy for a whole year."
"Well… sort of. I'd say more like seven months tops. It was settled before I sent her back to you…"
"What happened though? How did she cause that much upset?"
"I don't want to talk about it McGarrett."
Steve was going to argue when Sin Nombre stalked back into the room a panicked look about him, pinned directly on Steve and Wo.
"Where's Ro?" he asked in a dangerously soft tone.
"What do you mean? She's in the bedroom."
"No, she isn't I just checked and this was left on her bed," he said handing Wo Fat a picture. Across the whole table they were all asking what was happening, what that photo was but Steve was lost to the world. Steve looked it over, it was of Rowan and Steve, coming out of the precinct. There was a big red X over her face.
Both men straightened. And just like that panic blossomed between the pair.
"It's just like…"
"I know what it's like," Wo Fat said jumping to his feet.
"What does that mean, you've gotten like this before?"
"Yes."
"What did it mean?"
"It meant that Diego was going after Rowan. I got it right before he grabbed her in town, the plan was to hold her ransom, to get me to stop fighting Armando's turf war with him."
"Okay but what does it mean now?"
Except Steve knew what it meant. And Wo Fat and Sin Nombre didn't have to tell him.
It meant Diego had Rowan.
H5O-H5O-H5O-H5O
Sandy couldn't find Rowan.
Steve couldn't find Rowan.
No one could find Rowan.
And just like that Steve became an ice king.
He left his kid with his Five-0 friends, who were all calling to glean any information of any kind, and Armando and his fleet of men who had been called back to the Morales'. He figured, if someone would grab Rowan right out of a house that held Wo Fat and Sin Nombre then they'd have no problem coming back to take his kid. So, the more people he left with him the better, even though he knew something was wrong and had been on the verge of tears begging Steve not to leave him behind.
But Steve had to leave his kid behind. Because he couldn't handle losing them both at the same time, not when loosing Rowan did to him what it always did. Tore him apart.
With Wo Fat at his side they drove into town, picked up a man they knew was with Diego and trussed him up and put him in the back of the van.
They drove out of the city, turned down a dark dusty stretch of rode, stopped the van and then left that man in the van alone with Sin Nombre.
For fifteen minutes he stood outside of the Van, right beside Wo Fat. Both of them a couple feet away from that van. The Van rocked, the man screamed the words in Spanish first, then in English, then unintelligible screams of pain and terror.
Wo Fat smoked his way through six cigarettes before Sin Nombre got out of that truck. Wo Fat didn't even look up, he simply handed Sin Nombre cigarette from the pack which the man took with bloodied fingers.
"Mans gave up four potential places. The potential locations are spread far, make the wrong choice and we don't make it to her in time. He also told me that this play has been in motion for months."
Steve blinked his eyes. Wait. Grabbing Rowan had always been the objective?
"So… this whole time… grabbing Sara was a way to get Rowan down to Colombia again?" Steve asked.
"It was a two-fer. Grab the girl, lure Five-0 down here. Get you guys for taking down his brother, and if you went down in Colombia, Ro would have come down for revenge. I don't think he realized she'd come down before he was ready for her. Play got moved up because he figured he wouldn't get another chance. Specially since we got Sara back."
"How the hell did Sandy not pick this chatter up?"
"She did," Wo said. "We didn't think he'd actually try. Not when he's still having waking nightmares of what she did."
He stood there for a minute just puffing away and Sin Nombre watched him, he then glanced to the assassin who was just standing there.
"You think he'll try ransoming her for power over Armando again?"
Sin Nombre shook his head. "If he tries ransoming her it'll be to use you against Armando. But I think he wants to pay her back for what she did to him the last time. And I think he's aiming to make you watch."
Wo Fat made a face, one of displeasure and disgust. He clearly didn't like the idea of that.
"We gotta do something Wo," Sin Nombre said suddenly. "I'm not failing to save her a second time. So, we gotta figure out where he is and move in ASAP."
"I'm aware of that Con, but I don't know what you expect me to do if I don't know how to narrow down where to go out of four locations."
"Okay. Stop. All of this is tied to the Colombia incident? What the hell did she do to him to make him so fucking angry? We killed his brother, what's worse than that?"
They both turned to him, no doubt wondering why this mattered at that point in time. But Wo was willing to indulge his questions.
"She wiped him out. Took twenty minutes and all her powers but she decimated him. I told you there was a witch hunt for her McGarrett."
Great, the guilt trip was unnecessary.
"Right so what do we do?"
"We gotta figure out which compound she's at," Sin Nombre said. "We're going to have to split up."
Wo Fat finished his cigarette, and threw it aside. "Get him out of the back, and then get ready to move."
Sin Nombre did as he was told, dropping the bloodied man to the ground. As he went towards the passenger side door, he heard a gunshot. Steve turned in time to watch Wo Fat turning away from the now dead body of the man they had been interrogating, stashing a gun while he was at it.
He should have felt bad for letting that happen. But Steve felt nothing except icy anger and determination. Diego shouldn't have been worrying about La Bruja, he should have been worrying about her husband.
