A/N: Hey there my wonderful readers. So this is it, the last chapter of episode 1. How are you guys liking the new season? Personally, I was a bit worried about it, but now that I've gotten into it, I'm kinda liking where it's going. I hope you guys find this chapter funny as well, because that's definitely how I wrote it, and I'll see you guys next week!

Chapter 410

They realized quite quickly that their comms lines were working. None of them could get a hold of Jerry and none of them had service either.

That meant they couldn't call for help.

Then, Steve realized that the smoke was too thick which meant they were heading into the heart of the fire. Also not good, and it also meant that they had gotten mixed up and they didn't know the way out.

Duclair was of no help either. Spouting nonsense about how they were all going to die of smoke inhalation long before the fire got them. Con punched him to shut him up.

Steve had tried leading them in a different direction, a way where he figured they would miss the worst of it, where they could hopefully find a clearing and flag down a chopped to get them out.

What they found instead was more fire and a cabin.

Steve didn't even hesitate, he got his whole team inside and then went straight to bossing them all around.

"Alright, Grover, you put him in that chair and secure him, okay?" he ordered and Grover nodded, moving to do just that. "Guys, get towels, pillow cases, whatever you can find we got to fill these cracks, keep the smoke out and fresh O2 in."

As they went around doing what they were told, Danny went to Steve.

"Steve how much time do we have?'

Steve didn't want to answer that, because, honestly it was not long, but he knew Danny wouldn't let it go either. "Six people, less than a thousand square feet, we're gonna run out of O2 before we burn to death."

"You could've lied, you know?"

He could of, but he figured if he did Con would tell Danny and being caught lying would have been worse.

"Don't worry, we're gonna get out of here."

"How? What's your plan?" Tani asked.

"This place has got to be crawling with rescue. I'm gonna get out there, I'm gonna find one of them."

Now that got everyone's attention, including Con would hadn't been paying attention at that point, instead was playing with his phone.

"Out there, back in the fire? That's your plan?" Grover asked.

Steve nodded and just like that he had all of Con's attention.

"Oh whoa, hold on a second," Con said getting in between him and the door. "You're not serious are you?"

"Uh… yeah… yes I am…"

"Are you out of your mind?" Con thundered. "You really think you're going to go out into a wild fire and find us help? Are you crazy?!"

Danny raised his hand. "I am almost one hundred percent certain that he's out of his mind…"

Steve ignored him and kept his eyes on Con. "It's all I've got."

"All you got?" he echoed. "I've been on duty for less than twenty-four hours and we're in a fucking forest fire! I don't how you've done this." And then he turned to Danny. "I don't know how you live with this man!" He turned back to Steve. "How does my sister deal with you?!"

"Okay and what's your plan then?" Steve cried. "You're pretty vocal, what's your plan?"

"I'mma call Rowan."

"Rowan?" Tani echoed. "Like, McGarrett's wife, Rowan? That woman I sort of met at the pool who ate your fish tacos?"

"She ate fish?" Con asked turning to McGarrett. "How did you get her to do that?"

"I left her alone with them."

"Huh. That's weird."

"Yes I know. Thank you."

"Guys! Focus. What is McGarrett's wife going to do? She's in California, isn't she? And even if she wasn't what the hell do you think she could do in this situation?"

Shit… Tani didn't know about Rowan's powers.

"She's new," Con said pointing at her.

"And you're still wearing that rabbit mask. It's not Halloween," she snarled and then got a good mouthful of smoke and started coughing.

Con turned to the two other men. "How new is new?"

"She has no idea," Steve said. "And neither does he."

Con turned to Duclair. "That's easy, just knock him out."

Grover glanced to Steve and said: "You good with that?" and Steve nodded.

Grover then crossed to the bound man and just decked him. Duclair went limp against the chair, but that wasn't all.

For some reason, Tani just collapsed.

They all turned to Con who had been standing behind her, gun in his hand, having clearly bashed the butt of it into the back of her head.

Then he hadn't caught her when she fell, just let her hit the ground with a painful whump.

They all stared at him at varying degrees of horrified.

"What the hell did you do that for?" Steve thundered.

"You just said she was new, McGarrett!" Con cried and they all just groaned at him.

"Really?" Danny cried, clearly ready to argue, but then he change his mind with a shake of his head. "You know what, fuck it. Just call Rowan so we can get out of this."

At that they all turned to Steve.

Steve started back at them confused. "Why are you looking at me?"

"Cause she responds quickest to you."

Con was right. For her brother's there was lag, but she always knew when he was in trouble. To be honest he was surprised that she hadn't intervened already.

"Oh god, I always feel so stupid doing this," Steve muttered and then tilted his head skyward to shout: "Rowan! I need you!"

They waited, waited for any sign of Rowan and then the door behind them swung open.

She took all of them in and shouted: "Are you fucking shitting me?! I haven't even been gone a day!"

For a second all eyes just stared at her and then they all clamored for the door to get into the McGarrett's kitchen. Grover and Con helping to get the unconscious Tani through the door.

Once they were all through Rowan shut the door and looked them all over as they all coughed and gasped for air. She went about pouring them all water, but left the tap running so they could fill up as much as they wanted when they wanted.

When they were done Steve looked around to make sure that all his people were there and realized someone was missing.

"Where's Duclair?" he asked her.

Rowan had been busy looking him over and putting her fingertips to every place where he hurt like she just knew where he was injured. When he asked his question, she turned those luminous blue eyes up to him and very sweetly asked: "Who?"

Normally this would soothe him, those eyes alone could make him forget what he was mad about. But not this time.

"Duclair! He was tied to the chair."

"Oh you mean the bad guy?"

"Yes him, where is he?"

Rowan looked at him, then back to the door and then back to him. "He's dead Steven. Now I have to go or I'm going to miss my first interview."

She got up on her very tippy toes and kissed his cheek, she then crossed to Con, swiped his mask to the side revealed a very sweaty, soot stained Con and kissed his check after wiping it clean.

"Thank you for taking care of them for me," she said.

"Honestly mami I don't know how you do it."

"Yeah well…" she shot a coy glance to Steve and said: "Good luck."

"Thanks," Con and Steve said together and then she just left them there.

H5O-H5O-H5O-H5O

The following morning, despite leaving Duclair to burn in a blaze, Steve had woken up in a good mood.

Though that was mostly because after he had gone to bed, Rowan had shown up. Just walked through the bedroom door and jumped him.

Yes they hadn't been separated a full 48 hours yet, yes their sex was sporadic since getting a kid, but he was grateful that his wife wanted him so badly that she had opened a portal to him so she could fuck him.

He was also grateful because it meant that he could sleep with his arms around her. He always slept best when she was with him, preferably in his arms.

She had left in the morning before Nahele woke up, to go back for some DVD commentary they wanted her to record and that was him alone again.

Luckily, before she left, they had had a very productive talk that morning about what he wanted to do about the whole partnership thing that Danny was offering to him.

Once she was gone, however, it was back to business as normal. Steve had gotten Nahele off to school, then he went to the restaurant, and let himself in. Broke in through the back actually.

He had texted Danny to meet him there, and Danny had obliged. Though, he agreed to meet him after he finished a few errands.

That left Steve plenty of time to look around and put together a sort of mental picture of how he would like the place to look and take stock of the kind of work that they would need to do to get this place up and running.

"Hey!" Danny said as he came in. "I, uh, got your message."

"Yeah. Hey, how's, uh, how's Tani, is she alright?"

That had been one of Danny's errands. Steve had called Tani the night before, once she had been cleared for her head injury. She had been pretty pissed about his brother-in-law knocking her out when he last saw her, and she hadn't responded to the message he had left.

Danny had gone over to see how she was and if she had an answer to Steve's question.

"Yeah, she's good. She said she felt like she smoked a thousand packs of cigarettes. But she's good, I think she has to get her head examined."

"Okay… did Con really hit her that hard?"

"No," Danny said quickly, but then didn't move to elaborate. "She did have questions, though."

"About how we got out?"

"Yeah," he said. "Told her what you told me. That Con was going to activate an app that the eldest brother made to protect Rowan in specific. It wouldn't be able to do much but he'd be able to get a message out to her, and when we did that, she sent help our way."

"How she take it?"

"She believed it, if that's what you mean," he said. "She wanted to know why he knocked her out. Told her it was because he didn't trust her, you know cause she was new, and the app in question wasn't supposed to exist. He didn't want her telling the wrong people that it was up and running. Then she asked who exactly they were."

"Oh boy."

"Yeah, should have seen her face when I told her that you really are married to Rowan Pierce the Destroyer and Wo Fat and the assassin Sin Nombre were your in-laws now. Apparently HPD doesn't openly advertise your criminal links the way they advertise how amazing and badass Five-0 is."

"Bet she's second guessing working for us now."

"No… I don't think so…"

"No? What are you talking about?"

"She's coming back tomorrow."

"That's great news. She is? That's great, we need the help."

Because it was getting to the point where he was going to request that FBI send Wo Fat down. He could use him for the task force. He also figured if he managed to hook Wo Fat he could convince Con to work with them too.

They'd be unstoppable.

They'd probably frustrate Steve more than Danny did, but they'd be unstoppable together.

"Hey… how did you get in here?" Danny asked.

"Oh, we need to talk about the lock on the back door, the first thing we got to fix. It's a joke."

"First thing we got to fix?" Danny echoed.

Steve nodded. "Yeah, you and me, we. This is for you, it's our Hawaii commercial lease agreement. Signed by yours truly and dated today's date.

"You're not messing with me?" Danny asked as he accepted the papers from him.

"No, you wore me down like you always do," Steve said. "That and I talked to Ro and she said it was up to me but she would support me. She also said she thought it was a good idea. And then, when I told her I wanted to do it she said that she knew because it was actually in the strings, and honestly, I know I gave her shit for it to begin with, but now, now I'd like her to just tell me so I don't waste anymore time…"

"Yeah how did she take that?"

"I mean, she said okay, but I unno if she's actually going to do it. I think she likes knowing what's going to happen but not telling me."

"Yeah that sounds like her.

"Right, well, you were right. Right about this place. It's special. It's special. I've been thinking about it a lot, its got great bones, it's gonna need a lot of TLC, it's gonna be a lot of work, you understand that, right?"

"That's what you said about Charlie's remodel and we did that right, didn't we?" Danny asked and Steve nodded because they had done well with Charlie's remodel. Despite the bickering they had got it together rather quickly and Charlie loved his room.

Though, it was him and Rowan that finished that remodel, Danny had been pulled onto a cold case from before he joined Five-0.

But it would be alright. He knew they could do this. Without her.

"Dude, we killed it. We killed it to death. But this is different, Danny, this is… it's pretty complicated."

"It's fine, we got this, partners, right? Partners," Danny said. Steve took his hand and shook on it, he even gave Danny a hug.

"But uh… a couple of things first… uh… you actually believe in this right? It's not just that I wore you down and bugged you enough about it. Or because your wife said it's in your strings… right?"

"Well, old-school Italian in the middle of Chinatown, it's a horrendous idea, no. But I don't know anything about restaurants, I believe in you, I believe in us and that's all that matters, right?"

"Right."

"That and Rowan's never wrong. That's what you say right? Rowan's never wrong. Well, she's said it's a good idea, so… it's gonna be a good idea."

"Right."

"This is going to be fun."

"Yep, fun," Danny said. "You know I'm in charge, right?"

"Nope."

Oh boy.

Maybe this was a bad idea after all.

Well… only time would tell.
