Chapter 11
"I'm surprised Wolf isn't here," Shachi admitted.
It was weird, but Law assumed that Wolf had gone out for supplies for his experiment. Meanwhile they all made themselves comfortable, and hoped that Wolf wouldn't have a heart attack when he came in. If he did maybe Law could cut it out and pump it back into action? It would be interesting to see.
Penguin was handing out hot chocolate, tea and coffee while Law and Shachi cleaned up the kitchen table to make room for their guests. Normally Law wouldn't bring so many people to Wolf's house, but he felt like he could trust Rouge and Ace, and after everything Dragon said...
He hoped Dragon could do it, but Law wouldn't get his hopes up just in case.
"Thanks for bringing us here, all of you," Dragon said, nodding his head. "It was very kind of you." He then glowered at Rouge. "Hopefully somebody doesn't try using one of the kids as bait again and led us into more situations like this."
"It was also for training," Rouge defended.
"What training? He's a devil fruit user. He can't swim."
"Training to ignore the affects!" Rouge gave him a thumbs up.
Dragon whacked her head, earning a yelp.
"How does he hit a ghost?" Shachi asked nervously.
"That's what we're worried about too..." Sabo admitted, then smirked. "And I'm gonna be trained by him. HA!" He stuck his tongue out as Ace and Luffy.
"Not fair!" Luffy protested.
"Yeah!" Ace scowled.
"You're joining the revolutionaries, Sabo-ya?"
Sabo nodded. "I wanted to help. You could join us too, right, Dragon?"
Dragon smiled. "I'd be happy to accept your help too, Law."
"I'm set on being a pirate," Law insisted. "But if you do ever need my assistance in matters I might be available to help."
"And we'll be there to help, Captain!" Shachi grinned.
"Yeah!" Bepo cheered.
"Such a cool bear!" Luffy beamed.
Bepo hung his head. "I'm sorry."
"Don't be sorry!" Penguin and Shachi yelled.
Law couldn't help but smile fondly at that.
"So are you planning to do with yourself, Law?" Rouge asked.
"Avoid the flying flamingo of death," Shachi said.
Law threw a biscuit at him. "That I suppose," Law grumbled, glowering at the idiots. "And take to the seas. We both know with the Ope Ope no mi and being the last Trafalgar I cannot settle down as a doctor in one place. The best way for me to go is to set sail under my own flag and do as I please."
"Become the Pirate King," Penguin whispered.
"Yeah!" Shachi cheered.
Law sighed. "I never had that idea in mind."
"Who cares? You can do it." Shachi grinned.
"I'm gonna be Pirate King!" Luffy protested.
"Bring it on, pipsqueak!" Shachi stuck his tongue out. "We've already got our ship. Where's yours?"
"Don't start a rivalry with the kid." Law rolled his eyes.
"I'll get an amazing crew, like the bear, and then I'll beat you to One Piece and become the Pirate King!" Luffy yelled. "No, wait, Traffy, you and the bear join my crew!"
"Eh?" Law blinked.
Rouge cackled.
"Don't just demand our Captain to join your crew!" Both Shachi and Penguin snapped.
Sabo groaned. "Luffy, this is not how you treat people who rescue you and invite you into their home."
"Face it, Luffy." Ace smirked. "None of us want to be on your ship."
"I'll drag you all on to it!"
"I'd like to see you try," Ace laughed.
"But how are you going to avoid Donquixote, Law?" Dragon asked. "As far as I'm aware he can fly."
"Only if there are clouds around. He attaches his string to them," Law revealed. "Besides, our ship isn't the usual kind of pirate ship."
"Submarine!" Shachi sang.
Rouge grinned. "Damn, nice idea. He can't follow you under water."
"Exactly, and most people don't think to look beneath the ocean either," Law said.
"Shouldn't you be trying to fight this flamingo head on?" Ace asked. "If you can beat him then maybe he'd finally stop chasing you."
"He's far too strong for that," Law said.
"Law's right, Doflamingo is out of all of your leagues," Dragon said. "He'd even give us a difficult time."
"Even you, Mum?" Ace asked.
"Hard to say." Rouge frowned, crossing her arms. "It's been a good few years since his rookie days. He would have gotten a lot stronger."
"For now my best course of action would be to avoid him," Law sighed. "I don't want to risk getting captured, nor any of my friends considering he'd only use them against me."
"Then you should train with me and Ace!" Luffy grinned. "All of you. We're going to be training with the Shadow Lady."
"It would be nice to have another witch around," Ace admitted.
"Thanks for volunteering me, Luffy," Rouge chuckled, then smiled fondly as she eyed them. "But yes, I would be happy to train you and your friends, Law. For one thing, you helped us get Luffy back from the seas-"
"That was your own fault," Dragon cut in, but Rouge ignored him.
"And you are a brother. Us head witches are hunted by the world, so sometimes its nice to have someone in the same predicament as you around for company." Rouge smiled, eyeing Ace, then frowned at Law. "You feel the calling, don't you?"
Law grimaced. He knew exactly what she spoke of. The nagging that tingled in the back of his head if he lost focus. How it felt like someone important was calling to him, and that he needed to answer it.
"That's when you start to get all distant," Penguin said. "Like extra distant, and stare off in the same direction."
"I've not done that before," Ace said.
"No." Rouge shook her head. "You won't until you hit twelve possibly. That is when most witches begin their training."
"Why do you do that?" Luffy asked. "Seems boring."
"Not sure." Rouge shrugged. "It's a mystery."
"Shishishishi, a mystery stare!"
"Stop encouraging him." Sabo glowered.
Rouge stuck out her tongue. Law however caught both Dragon and Rouge eye the doorway, their eyes narrowing. Law heard footsteps rushing towards Wolf's house, which was unusual, and the door banged open.
"Law!" Wolf yelled, rushing in. "There are people looking for you in town. You need to set sail now before-" Wolf paused mid-step and stared at them all, then began counting him, Bepo, Shachi and Penguin. "One, two, three, four. Law, Bepo, Shachi, Penguin." Wolf stared blankly until he screeched. "WHY ARE THERE SO MANY PEOPLE IN MY HOUSE?!"
"We found a drowning kid in the ocean!" Shachi said cheerfully, holding Luffy up by his t-shirt, Luffy who writhed and hissed. "We brought him home. Can we keep him?"
"I'M NOT A PET!" Luffy yelled.
"He's a good boy- OW!" Shachi yelped, dropping Luffy. "He bit me! Law, I might have rabies!"
"That was for your own fault," Law sighed. "And sorry, Wolf, but the kid needed somewhere to get warmed up. He's from East Blue so even our warm weather is pretty cold to him. The others are his companions. Now you said someone was looking for me. Was it the Marines or a lot of ridiculously tall people?"
"Both," Wolf said shakily.
Law swore his heart stopped right then and there.
"Oh c'mon!" Shachi cried. "That's not fair!"
"Go prepare the ship!" Penguin ordered Bepo.
"Aye, aye!" Bepo rushed out of the kitchen.
"Shachi go get our belongings," Penguin continued as Shachi bolted out the kitchen. "Wolf, do you still have that emergency supply of food tucked away?"
"I kept your food supply loaded in the Polar Tang."
Law would have smiled at how efficient Penguin was being, but he was still shocked, both the Marines and Donquixote Family were here? How the hell have they not attacked each other yet? Unless it was Vergo. If Vergo was the Marine searching for him then Doflamingo would have no one to slow him down.
Law eyed the others and went to speak, but Rouge and Dragon went rigid, then Rouge sprang to her feet and yanked Wolf down with a yell as she raised her sword.
"Dragon!" Rouge screamed.
A strong gust of wind forced them all back and Law just managed to see the door cave in, and Rouge's sword stop whatever it was in its tracks. Law hit the floor with a grunt as the others all screamed, but Law was quickly back on his feet. That was when he froze.
String. It was string that was wrapped around Rouge's sword. Rouge who grinned wolfishly as she shoved Wolf back towards Dragon. Dragon who stood between them all and Doflamingo and Rouge.
"Hey now," Rouge chuckled. "That was a bit dangerous. We've got quite a few kids in here."
"Fufufufufu." Law's blood ran cold. "How interesting to see a dead woman walking."
"I got better," Rouge said dryly.
Rouge's eyes sharpened as Doflamingo ducked into the doorway, grinning wickedly. He did an over exaggerated bow.
"Ah! A flamingo!" Luffy cried.
"Doflamingo," Law corrected sharply.
"Hibiscus Rouge, or less commonly known as Portgas D. Rouge. Fufufufufu, how interesting to meet you here, a dead witch." Doflamingo smirked. "Which means Law's found a little sibling. How adorable."
"Always pleased to meet a fan," Rouge chuckled.
Doflamingo ignored that and Law felt his gaze go to him. "Long time no see, little Law. Fufufufufu, did you think you could hide from me forever?"
"I can damn well try." Law scowled.
He saw Shachi gesturing to them by the doorway, hidden from Doflamingo's view, but not his haki. Thankfully Doflamingo didn't seem to pay him any mind, just kept his eyes locked on Law. Law did notice Dragon shoving Sabo and Luffy towards Shachi, but again Doflamingo paid them no mind.
"I think it's time for you to come home," Doflamingo said. "No more running away now, Law."
"Like hell-" Wolf bristled.
"If you think I'm going to let you take Law you've got another thing coming," Rouge said coldly. "I don't care if you want to use him because he's a head witch or has the Ope Ope no Mi, I'm planning to make sure you get nothing from him."
Doflamingo smirked nastily. "Fufufufufu, it had once been my intention for my little brother to eat the Ope Ope no mi and grant me immortality, but sadly he was a traitorous piece of shit, one that I heard you saved, Law."
Law remained silent.
"Vergo told me before Rosinante ratted him out to the Marines. Thankfully he got away just in time and returned home, but it was a close call." Doflamingo growled lowly, gritting his teeth, and the sight made Law flinch. "My little brother will pay for that, as well as pay for taking you away from me and poisoning you against me."
Wolf snarled and Law frowned at the sniper rifle once more in his hand. It wouldn't do anything if he tried to shoot it, probably just annoy Doflamingo.
"No wonder he turned against you when you want Law to give you immortality at the cost of his own life!" Wolf spat.
"I think you should make it very clear here," Rouge growled, a pulse of energy escaping her. Law couldn't help but shiver at it. "What do you want from Law?"
"So protective, but I guess that is the thing with clan witches," Doflamingo chuckled. "I want my kid back. Not for your Devil Fruit, Law, I promise. I would never use you for that ability, not when you're so much more important."
Law shivered.
"So you want him because he's the last Trafalgar witch," Rouge said coldly.
"And maybe your kid could join us too-" Doflamingo began, but snarled as he blocked Rouge's sword with a wave of string.
"I think I'll have to cut your throat for that remark," Rouge growled.
"I'd like to see a dead witch try!" Doflamingo laughed.
"Everyone out!" Dragon ordered, eyes wide as more crackles of energy broke free from both Doflamingo and Rouge.
All the plates in the kitchen shattered. The windows smashed. Wolf's house was being torn apart!
.::.
Dragon grabbed Law's arm and Ace's and rushed the pair out, he heard Wolf fire a shot, but Doflamingo easily dodged it and sent a wave of string at him.
"Room!" Law held up his free hand and twisted his fingers. "Shambles!"
Wolf disappeared, replaced by a broom which was slashed to pieces by Doflamingo's string.
"Fufufufufu, looks like you've been training, Law." Doflamingo raised a hand their way, but Rouge blocked him off again, earning a curse.
"Better keep your attention on me," Rouge said, grinning sharply. "Otherwise I might just take you by surprise."
"Your kid can't keep you around forever," Doflamingo said, chuckling darkly. "Once he's too tired out I'll just grab them both and leave with two little witches."
"I'll bash your fucking skull in first!" Rouge roared.
Dragon felt two waves of conqueror's haki hit them. Wolf went down hard. Dragon had to grab him and drag him along, the kids stumbling after him, Law pointing out where they needed to go. When they arrived at the submarine Shachi and Penguin were out cold, slumped on deck, with Luffy, Sabo and Bepo shaking them roughly, trying to wake them up. The kids looked ill and shaky, but thankfully still up.
"They'll be fine!" Dragon yelled. "Bepo, drag them on to the ship now!"
"R-Right!" Bepo cried. "Sorry!"
"Don't order Bepo around like that!" Law huffed, but he grabbed Shachi and dragged him inside while Dragon dumped Wolf down.
Ace remained on the platform, staring up the stairs where his mother and Doflamingo were fighting it out. Dragon could hear the crashes and rumbles and it made him grimace.
"Ace, hurry, she'll only hold out for a little longer and by then we need to be gone," Dragon said, tugging Ace along by his arm.
.::.
Rouge stood on the kitchen table and grinned sharply. The roof had caved in a minute ago and now she stood among the rubble while Doflamingo stood on his string above her, his smirk wide. Heh, guess he was enjoying this fight just as much as she was then. How amusing.
"Fufufufufu, the world is certainly getting more and more chaotic, isn't it, Portgas D. Rouge?"
"Surprised you know my name," Rouge admitted. "The full one. Aren't the Marines trying to erase my history?"
"Sadly," Doflamingo scoffed. "But the old school pirates of the seas will never forget. Fufufufufu, oh no, who could forget one of the prettier rivals of the Pirate King and Whitebeard?"
Rouge chuckled. "You know how to melt a pirate's heart, Doflamingo."
"Who wouldn't flirt with a beautiful, powerful woman such as yourself?" Doflamingo threw his head back and laughed, then sighed. "As fun as this is I still have business with little Law," Doflamingo said, hands twitching. "So do get out of my way!"
Rouge ducked beneath the shattered oven from Wolf's kitchen and cut down a piece of roofing that flew her way. Both of them paused though when the area froze over, and Rouge jumped over a wave of ice and cursed when she almost slipped on the landing back down. Doflamingo scowled as he turned from her, the veins in his head popping out.
"Kuzan!" Doflamingo snarled.
Rouge smirked. "Well, well, well, if it isn't little Kuzan."
Kuzan sighed. "This is going to be a pain in the ass."
"You're telling me about it," Rouge scoffed.
