Land to Sky

"It's beautiful out here," Amity said aloud, as Luz showed her the sunset beyond the horizon, all from the Noceda backyard. "Who knew the human realm had such sights?"
Luz nodded, her heart skipping a beat as she stood right beside her. "It does, doesn't it? I used to think that there wasn't much here for me, or anywhere, really."
Amity nodded. "I know how you feel."
Luz turned to face Amity. "You do?"
Amity looked away from the sunset. "Yes, I do. With everything that's been happening, I guess I didn't see the whole picture, beyond what I already knew."
"Until so much later, when it was too late." Luz replied.
Amity crossed her arms, her eyes cast down.
Luz looked away for a moment, and she let a soft sigh. She slowly reached out, and gently grasped Amity's hand.
She didn't pull away.
"You're right, Amity." Luz replied, her voice wavering a bit, and her eyes looked straight into the other girl's. "But, hey, I think here and now, at least we can make up for lost time."
A soft, assured smile grew on her face. "So, what do you say?"
Amity blinked, and then she smiled back, nodding. "I say….what are we waiting for?"
With that said, Luz's smile widened, and she then pulled Amity into a big hug, spinning her around. Amity couldn't help but laugh all the while.
