Chapter 82 – Koraidon and the D-Team
Ultra-Megalopolis…
"The Guild has considered your testimony," Zeraora, the yellow stripped and fuzzy cat like Pokémon barked, as he glared down over Ashachu and the others. "And we have deliberated among ourselves."
"That's funny cause you never asked us anything," Charizard growled under his breath.
"SILENCE." Dialga's voice boomed through the auditorium, causing Charizard to quickly fall silent.
Ashachu, Charizard, Dragonite, Hunter and Geyser had been returned to the guild's hall as the guild reconvinced, the seven legendary Pokémon having taken their places on the podium. It was hard not to feel an overwhelming sense of awe, especially for Ashachu and Hunter, the smallest of the group, and even without being chained to the X-crosses.
"The situation is far worse than we had realised," said Suicune. "If the Ultra Recon Squad have made it into your universe, then they may have followed Necrozma there."
"Given the risks if the Ultra Recon Squad were to get a hold of Necrozma," Zeraora continued. "The guild has decided that a rescue team will be sent into your world to investigate, locate Necrozma if possible and stop the Ultra Recon Squad…And you will be joining them."
"What…US." The five restrained and captive Pokémon chorused in unison.
"It's your world, you know it better than we do," said Suicune. "Time to see what type of Charizard you really are!"
"And it would be impossible to travel there without the ability to open Ultra Wormholes," Dialga interjected. "Meaning we need your help…Geyser."
All seven eyes of the Zeraora Guild fell upon the Dewott, who's eyes widened in shock
"Me! But I…"
"No Pokémon has the power to open Ultra Wormholes," Zeraora explained. "You are the only one with that ability. And so, we ask of your help…"
"But…but" Geyser stuttered, looking worryingly up at the seven legendries and then back at his teammates. "I can't…I don't…"
Ashachu might have found the panicky look on the usually confident and strong Dewott's face highly amusing if the situation hadn't been so dire. As it was, he had to fight back the urge to smirk, and he certainly didn't say anything in Geyser's defence.
Not even when Zeraora added, "Of course, we could just send you back to jail if you would prefer."
It was Hunter who came to his defence. "Hey that's not fair…Geyser can't control when he opens the Ultra Wormhole. And he can't control where it's going to lead to."
"And it always leaves him exhausted," added Dragonite. "Forcing him to use his power could…well you know!"
"Believe us when we say. We take no pride in placing such a burden on one so young."
It was Virizion who had spoken. Her voice softer and seemingly more empathetic than the others. Without realising why, it made Ashachu feel a little lighter inside and the look of worry on Geyser's face seemed to ebb a little.
"Necrozma is the source of light in this world. A Pokémon of infinite power and beauty," Eternatus growled, his deep low rumble of a cry a sharp contrast to Virizion.
"There's a version of Team Flare in your world," Virizion continued. "Can you imagine what would happen if they were to capture Necrozma. It could mean peril for all of our worlds."
"And in exchange for helping us, we will help you get back to your friends and your humans," said Zeraora.
Geyser bit his lip. "I…I guess we…I don't really have a choice!"
Hunter and Dragonite both whipped their heads around to gape at him, each mouthing things like, "Geyser no," and "You don't have to listen to these Pokémon. We can't trust them!" Meanwhile Charizard snorted, a little black smoke emitting from his nostrils and Ashachu just remained quiet.
It was at that point, that a new voice filled the auditorium. "Well now Zeraora. A male Charizard on a cross, all restrained helpless. You should have mentioned this was the reward. I would have leapt at the expedition…"
The voice was male, though soft, and it spoke with an air of confidence to it. The captive Pokémon were forced to shift in their bonds yet again, angling to get a look at the double doors that lead to the auditorium at the newcomer who had just entered. He was a reptilian Pokémon, though walked on two legs. He was covered in scarlet scales with white accents on his cheeks, abdomen and legs and tail.
His head featured a large plume and a pair of long, thin, twisted antennae, his rear a similar, much larger plume. These plumes and antennae were white in colour, and blue-purple at the base. The Pokémon had two yellow eyes with brown pupils, webbed feet, and blue features on its elbows and shoulders, as well as blue frills running down its neck. On his chest is a large circular protrusion which resembles a rubber tire. The texture and black coloration were similar to the base of the tail.
Zeraora let out a long sigh that sounded like a groan. His paw twitched as though he were going to facepalm but thought better of it. "May I introduce Koraidon. He's the leader of the D-Team, the Zeraora Guild's premium Rescue Team. He will lead the expedition to rescue Necrozma."
The lizard like Pokémon, Koraidon, strolled towards the captive Pokémon stopping in front of Charizard, who glared at him. Unperturbed, Koraidon stretched out a claw on his shoulder and drew a line across his chest and down to the top of his stomach. "And what type of Charizard are you, I wonder?"
"Rwah…" Charizard growled and snapped at the other Pokémon.
But Koraidon had faster reflexes and pulled himself out of the way before Charizard could get him.
"Ha, you're going to have to try harder than that, oh fiery one. This is the D-Team. I'm used to breaking Charizard's." As he spoke, his claw resumed its tracing motions over Charizard's chest and body, and his voice had a seductive tone to it.
"Koraidon, this is not the time for flirting," Zeraora snapped. "Control yourself!"
Koraidon coxed his head and smirked at Charizard. "We'll see. I fully intend to have fun with Lizard boy…"
[Pokémon]
The D-Team had three members; Aside from the leader Koraidon, there was Zamazenta from the Zeraora Guild, and a Salamence; A dragon flying Pokémon. Reptilian quadrupled and sporting a large pair of half-moon shaped wings, sharp claws, and a ferocious tempter.
He seemed to take a dislike to Charizard immediately. The two were growling and snarling at each other from the moment they laid eyes on each other.
"Wow, you two…Stop that!" Koraidon roared, stepping between the two dragon-like Pokémon, and holding out his claws to separate them. "If this mission is going to be a success, we're all going to have to work together. So Roaring Moon, no picking fights."
And while the two Pokémon certainly backed off each other, they continued to glare and snarl at each other.
"Rarrrh Rarrrh."
"ZARD Chari-Zard Char!"
Ashachu shifted uncomfortably on Charizard's shoulder, a thrill of fear in his stomach. He didn't like the look of Roaring Moon's fangs or claws. If the two did decide to brawl it out, he would very likely be torn into Pikachu-linguine.
"What's that guy's problem?" he mumbled under his breath.
"Bagon-brained asshole," growled Charizard.
They both ignored Geyser and Hunter who were chuckling, Axew who was shaking his head, and Dragonite who had stretched out his arms to hug the newcomer dragon but thought better of it once he saw the snarl that Roaring Moon was giving Charizard…
From the hall of the Zeraora Guild, Ashachu and the others had been released and taken to a strange facility far away from the crystal city. It was built seemingly entirely underground, on the edge of a giant crater in what seemed to be the middle of a valley. Mountains with snow-capped peaks lined either side.
"This is the original base that the Ultra-Recon Squad built when they first came to this world," Koraidon had explained. "We repurposed it after we defeated the human scum!"
Ashachu shivered the moment he entered the place. Memories of a similar facility below Geosenge Town flooded his memory. Of the poisonous flower, of being encased in a cement like resin and of the maniacal form of Lysander, the terrible form of Yveltal and of Hunter…
It was almost too much, and he felt as though the walls were closing in on him. He had held to Charizard and felt relieved when the lizard hugged him closer.
"The Alakazam guild was formed," Koraidon had continued. "The smartest Pokémon were recruited to study the secrets of the human and determine how their machines worked. In the short time they have working they have managed to repair and relaunch the Centurion itself."
The Alakazam guild, as it were, seemed to be comprised entirely of psychic type Pokémon. The underground passageways were filled with Klink, Klang and Klinkling, Duosion and Reuniclus, one or two Metagross and a couple of Slowking (though remarkably not Slowpoke or Slowbro). These must be highly intelligent Pokémon, Ashachu thought!
In the middle of the underground complex was a large cylindrical vertical tunnel stretching up to the surface. Daylight filtered down into the pit from high above a small circle of sky was visible. The sky on this world was strange; almost multicoloured and changing throughout the day. Right now, it was a blueish pink.
In the middle of the tunnel was a rocket. Similar to the ones that Ashachu had seen at the Mossdeep space centre, or occasional on the television, it was tall and round and painted red in colour. Even from the bottom, Ashachu could make out the Team Flare insignia at the very top. And it made him shiver.
Charizard by contrast found it funny. "Hahaha…Seriously, this is what humans built to reach the stars. Are they compensating for the fact they can't fly…Or something else."
"Says the Pokémon who can't rub one out," Ashachu teased him playfully, rubbing the larger Pokémon's neck.
Charizard snorted, and retorted warningly, "Carefully Ashy. You're going the right way to become Char fat."
Salamence's scowled at the pair of them. "Tell me you're note mated with that electric pipsqueak," he growled softly to Charizard. "What kind of a beta Char are you!"
Charizard bared his teeth and was about to retort when Koraidon announced loudly, "Now, of course, we just need the final member of the D-Team."
Ashachu coxed his head. "Final member."
No sooner had he spoken than a great roar came from high above. So loud it echoed through the tunnel and seemed to make the walls vibrate. Ashachu, Charizard and the others looked up at the hole in the ceiling. From out of the small visible patch of multicoloured sky, a small twinkle appeared like a star. As they watched, it grew larger and larger until it formed the outline of a great serpentine creature.
"RAAAHHHH!"
It was on the largest Pokémon Ashachu had ever seen. At least seven metres in length, with green scales and a pointed head that made it look almost like the rocket it snaked around as it flew into the tunnel. It had red-tipped, rudder like wings on its shoulders and down its body, and similarly patterned fins on the top of its tail. Despite its snake like form, it did have a small pair of arms each ending in three lethal looking claws, and flat horn like structures on its head and along its jawline.
Even Charizard seemed impressed, his eyes widening as it came to a surprisingly gentle landing on the ground before them.
"Zard!"
He was not alone. The smaller furry Pokémon Geyser and Hunter moved backwards instinctively, as did Axew. Ashachu felt himself draw closer to Charizard. Dragonite on the other claw, did the opposite, stretching out his arms and rushing towards the newcomer to hug him around the middle.
"Rwah!" The green serpentine dragon Pokémon was taken aback, looking down curiously at Dragonite and seeming unsure what to do. He settled for petting his head and feelers with his claw.
"May I present the final member of the D-Team," said Koraidon. "Rayquaza!"
"So…These are the trouble makers you are talking about," Rayquaza replied as he eyed the crowd in front of him, his eyes falling on Charizard. "And there really is another Charizard. Interesting." His voice, though masculine, was surprisingly high and soft. Ashachu had expected a deep roar.
"Oh, and how cute is this." Rayquaza tilted his head down to Dragonite who was still hugging him. "Aren't you the affectionate one." And then to everyone's surprise, picked the dragon type up. Rayquaza simply slipped his claws under his armpits and holding him up the way Ash did Pikachu or Ashachu.
It was a bizarre sight, making Ashachu, Charizard and the others all stare and blink, given Dagonite's size. It made Dragonite him blush deeply and giggle. "Ahaha…Why yes I am."
"Nawww." Rayquaza extended his neck and pressed the end of his extremely large muzzle against Dragonite's and nuzzled him, letting out a soft cooing sound as he did so. It was almost a surprise to hear the giant dragon type make such a soft sound. Rayquaza ended by licking Dragonite one across the nose with a long-forked serpentine tongue.
"Ummm if you two could stop flirting," Zamazenta interjected impatiently. "We do have a job to do here. And time is of the essence…"
Rayquaza's shifted his gaze to the wolf like Pokémon and scowled but returned Dragonite to the ground all the same…
