Chapter 105 – Rocket Revengers
Ultra-Megalopolis...
Typhlosion gritted his teeth as he saw the red light on the end of Team Rocket's cannon glow brighter and brighter. Any second now, it would fire, paralysing him, so he could be captured by one of Team Rocket's Pokéballs. Not that paralysing him would make much difference now, trapped under rubble with a massive wound in his side and a shattered leg. He resisted the urge to close his eyes but didn't want to give Team Rocket that satisfaction.
"Ty..."
What happened next, happened so fasts that his brain had trouble processing it. The cannon on the Mecha Flygon fired it's red orb. And at the same time, a pink energy orb came flying from somewhere out of Typhlosion's field of vision. The two attacks met in mid-air, and in typical battle sequence fashion cancelled each other out in a powerful explosion. This time, Typhlosion really did close his eyes, as the shockwave rippled his fur.
When he opened them, a familiar wolf like Pokémon was standing in front of him. "Z-Zacian," he breathed.
Zacian's form had changed. Whereas before she had been a large blue wolf like Pokémon, she now sported wing like growths from her back, a crown like protrusion on her head and a large sword seemed to be growing out of her jaw.
"Typhlosion."
Koraidon, Lucario and the two humans rushed over to him. with some effort, Lucario and Koraidon managed to lift the large crystal that was crushing him, off his leg. Jimmy dropped down beside him and put his arms around his neck.
"Ty. Are you."
"I'm bleeding," Typhlosion grunted in reply to his trainer. "I think my leg's broken."
Jimmy inspected the damage. It was not good. Typhlosion's right hind leg was sticking out an odd angle, and his fur around his middle was slick with blood. Fortunately, on closer inspection, the wound didn't look that wide or deep. Still, Jimmy put a hand over, pressing down to try and stem the bleeding. Something which made Typhlosion wince in pain.
"It's okay, it's okay," Jimmy whispered to him, in his best attempt at a soothing voice in this situation."
Above them, a hatch opened on the side of the Flygon Mecha, revealing two humans dressed in black Team Rocket outfits standing aboard the machine: A familiar looking woman with long dirty blond hair and a man with short green hair.
"Well, look who it is," said the woman in an annoying, sing song voice.
"It's been quite a while," added the man. "Zacian."
Zacian glared up at the duo, her eyes narrowing to slit and her muzzle contorting into a vicious snarl. "Cassidy," she growled. "And Botch."
"My name is Butch," Butch snapped angrily punching the door with his fist. He winced in pain as it made contact with the heavy metal and shook his hand.
"You look well," said Cassidy, ignoring her partner's indignation about everyone's apparent inability to say his name properly.
"Leave this place at once," Zacian snarled, baring her teeth. "I warn you. My powers have increased since the last time we met."
"Oh, I don't doubt that" sang Cassidy gleefully. "All that time travelling with the twerp."
"Fortunately, Doctor Finbarr anticipated that and came up with a solution," added Butch.
Before Butch could say what, that solution was, his phone rang.
"Hello."
The voice on the other end of the line was audible even to Zacian and the others far below the Mecha, and nearly caused Butch to drop the phone. He held it away from his ear. "IT'S NAMBA."
Butch rolled his eyes and stoned the phone to his pocket. At the same time, a third batch, this one on the top of the Flygon Mecha opened, and a cylindrical device covered in spikes rose up. It was recognised by the two humans and three Pokémon at once, and Cameron let out a cry of "oh shit!"
"The Gigaremo Units have been improved since we last met," explained Cassidy.
"The em waves are target to disrupt electrical connections within the amygdala," Butch added. "The moral centre of the brain."
"It'll make you completely forget who you are while under our control. Meaning you won't be able to resist."
"Of course, it's even easier if you just submit."
Zacian inhaled, her eye widening at the sight of the Gigaremo unit. Butch and Cassidy laughed at her obvious sign of fear. She regained her composure and snarled at Team Rocket; fans bared. But this only elicited more laughter.
"You can growl and bark all you like, Zacian," Cassidy taunted. "Demonstrating how tough you are isn't going to help you. Now here are your two options. You can either submit to the EM waves or rejoin your place in Team Rocket. If you do that, we'll leave your friends alone."
"Or we fire up the Gigaremo Unit and take your mind, and those of your friends by force," said Butch. "As well as that, we could even make you and Lucario here attack your injured flamethrower buddy."
Zacian knew she was probably defeated. She felt a cold sense of hopelessness spread throughout her chest. She glared up at the one last time and growled, "you are despicable." Then she bowed her head.
There were shouts of protests from Cameron, Jimmy, and the others.
"Zacian, no."
"Don't do it. These guys never keep their word!"
[Pokémon]
Pallet Town…
The sky was growing darker overhead as Ash and Pikachu ran down the familiar road towards the laboratory. A crackle of thunder crashed overhead. Pikachu glanced upwards. The grey clouds that had promised rain earlier had more become full on storm clouds. Strange shapes too that made Pikachu feel uncomfortable…
Though that could have been the pain in his stomach.
Of course, right now he had a bigger problem than either the sky or his likely impending egg laying.
"So, what exactly is your plan again, Ash?" He asked tentatively, knowing he wasn't going to like the answer.
"It's simple," Ash replied. "We attack Team Rocket head on. We break back into Ultra mega-wherever and hit them with Yveltal oblivion wing."
Pikachu knew it. Or wasn't a smart plan. Ash was hot headed and would act without thinking at the best of times. But right now, when he was exhausted, angry about the loss of his mom and desperate…He was prone to trying something rash.
"Asssh," Pikachu groaned. "Can we maybe take some time to think about this."
"There's isn't anything to think about," Ash retorted. "They've taken my mom Pikachu. All to get me to hand over you."
"But we don't really know that."
"You saw my mom's message to me. You saw that paper with the little rocket drawing on it and the letters JJM. It's a message. They've taken her to get at me. There's nothing else for it."
Pikachu's stomach turned over…he wasn't sure whether that was the egg or a reaction to what his trainer and mate had just said. A wave of frustration came over him, but he fought to keep himself calm.
"For all we know this could be a trap. Are you sure you're thinking clearly."
Ash gritted his teeth and Pikachu could hear the dismay in his voice when Ash retorted, "How am I supposed to think clearly when they've got my mom, Pikachu. What else is there we can do."
"I don't know," said Pikachu. "Tell officer Jenny. Get those humans with the guns. The army? Get help!"
"That'll take too long. We have to act now while they're still attacking that Ultra place! We can do this Pikachu. We've beaten Team Rocket before! We can beat them again now!"
"Chuuuuu!"
Suddenly, Ash felt a great pain throughout his body, like electricity was coursing through him. In a flash he found himself letting on his back, on the ground, breathing heavily. He has noticed himself falling. Raising his head, a little he found Pikachu standing on his chest, looking very disgruntled. The mouse had his arms folded and was tapping his foot paw on Ash chest.
"P-pikachu?"
"Ash, you know that I love you," Pikachu squeaked. "But sometimes, you can be hot headed and act really childishly."
"Pikachu," Ash said again more forcefully, but Pikachu cut him off.
"Yes, we've beaten Jessie and James before. And those other two. Cassidy and Hutch. But this is different. This time there's a lot of them, with a giant all powerful spaceship and Pokémon control machines. If we go in there. Just us with no plan, then we're walking into a death trap." He sighed. "And I don't want to say this, but you'd be putting every Pokémon on the team at risk of being captured. I know everybody loves you Ash, and I want to help your mom but that's just not fair…"
Ash lay there in silence for a moment., taking in what his partner had said. Pikachu's words were like a punch to the chest. Was he really acting that selfishly? Unfortunately, he had no time to really take it all in. For at that moment, Pikachu let out a cry of pain and doubled over. His paws clutching his belly.
"Chu…Pika!"
"Pikachu!" Ash propped himself up on his elbows, concerned. "What's wrong!"
"Ahh…I think," Pikachu gasped l, his voice horse. "I'm going to lay!"
"Lay?" Ash repeated, before it hit him. "Oh!"
Pikachu was pregnant. Pikachu was about to lay an egg. With everything that had happened recently, the fact he had impregnated his mate with another kit has been pushed to the back of his mind. Pikachu didn't even appear to be showing signs of pregnancy yet. His stomach and sides weren't bulging like they had when he was pregnant with Ashachu.
CRASH
An enormous clap of thunder sounded overhead caused not Ash and Pikachu to look up in the sky. Ash felt his heart beating rapidly in alarm. A streak of white lighting flashed across the sky.
"Phew, that scared me!" He bit his lip. "C'mon we gotta get back to the ranch before the rain starts."
"Umm Ash."
"Yeah!"
"Maybe take a closer look."
Ash glanced upwards again perplexed by Pikachu's response. And that when he saw with horror that it wasn't a streak of lighting at all. What he had seen was bright white, cylindrical, and formed a straight line across the sky. And it ended with a spiralling opening at the end.
It was yet another Ultra Wormhole…
His heart sank. "Oh no. Not again, not now." He was suddenly on his feet again, tearing down the road, Pikachu cradled in his arms as he went. "We've got to find the others! Now!"
[Pokémon]
"Oh fuck! Not again!"
Charizard swore as he gathered up the egg in his claws. The Pokémon on Oak Ranch had noticed the appearance of the Ultra Wormhole, and it had sent a wave of fear and panic through them. Everybody was staring worryingly up at the portal in the sky, directly above the field they were standing it, eyes wide. Even Charizard, Flygon and Dragonite seemed afraid.
"Where in the distortion world did that come from," cried Nova.
"I don't know. But I think we all need to find shelter quickly," shouted Geyser. "NOW."
"And go where," cried Axew in fright. He climbed up Zoroark's back to take shelter in the fox-like Pokémon bushy mane of air that grew out of the back of his head.
"Any where's better than here," said Dragonite, as he turned and started running up the lawn.
Flygon followed suit. "Dragonite wait,"
"The Ranch, and if we can't get in then find a burrow or a secret base," yelled Geyser.
There were thirteen Pokémon gathered there; Ashachu, Charizard, Geyser, Hunter, Nova, Dragonite, Flygon, Sylveon, Sniveon, Snivy, Oshawott, Zoroark and Axew. As well as Miraidon, who had been frozen into a solid block of Ice by Dragonite's Ice Beam. They all started to run up towards the lab – a short building with a windmill that sat atop of a hill looking over the Pokémon reserve. A Pokémon stampedes.
But they quickly found their path cut off. A dark shape swooped low overhead and came to land right in front them. Planting itself in the grass like a dark impenetrable wall. Everybody came skidding to a halt, causing a Pokémon pile up. Ashachu tripped over one of Sylveon's feelers and crashed into Hunter's back, sending them both into the grass.
"Ouch...Watch it Ashachu!"
"Fuck you, Hunter!" Ashachu pushed himself up, not bothering to remove his paws from the Riolu's back.
The thing that had landed was a giant mechanical Darkrai; an oval shaped body with two arms outstretched containing jets. A hatch opened in the mechanical creature's chest, and a short gangway descended.
"Oh crap!" Ashachu knew what this was and who was aboard it before they stepped down the gangway.
Hunter stood back up, causing Ashachu to fall off him and to the ground again, so his view of Jessie, James and Meowth stepping out of their new Darkrai-Mecha was obstructed by the feet of the Pokémon standing around him. but he could still hear general growls of the other Pokémon and Jessie and James's irritating voices as they launched into yet another rendition of the motto.
"Prepare for trouble."
"And make it double."
"To protect the world from devastation."
"To unite all people's within our nation."
"To denounce the evils of truth and love."
"To extend our reach to the stars above."
"Jessie."
"James."
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light."
"Surrender now or prepare to fight."
"Meowth, dats right."
"Wobbuffet!"
Ashachu clambered back to his paws, just in time to see the Jessie, James and Meowth strike a pose, with Wobbuffet saluting like an idiot in the foreground. James's Noibat was fluttering round his head, saying, "Noibat Noi."
"What are you losers doing here," growled Sylveon.
"Yeah, fuck off freaks," Charizard snarled baring his teeth and raising his wings and claws in a definite show of aggression. "Unless you want to get flamed."
There was an uproar of growls, roars, and snarls from the rest of Ash's Pokémon, but the three members of Team Rocket (and their clueless Wobbuffet) didn't seem perturbed at all. James folded his arms, grinning as though basking in their hatred, while Jessie scouted around with her eyes.
"What a minute, where's the twerp and Pikachu," she exclaimed. "They're the ones we want."
"HIS NAME'S ASH," roared Charizard. "How about you show our trainer a little respect!"
Jessie raised an eyebrow at him. "Really, big boy. You of all Pokémon are asking us to show the twerp respect. Seems a bit hypocritical."
Charizard took a step forward, his face contorted in fury. "Wand just what is that supposed to mean." He raised a claw threatening, though still had the egg tucked under one arm.
Meowth meanwhile was consulting a small paw held phone like device, frowning. "Well, we tracked da twerp back to the right location. He could only 'ave been 'ere an hour or so ahead of us."
"Well, it's his hometown," said James. "I'm sure he'll turn up eventually. But right now, I'm looking a pack high powered Pokémon prime for the picking."
"That's it. We're done here!" Roared Charizard, before opening his jaws wide and blasting flamethrower at the Trio.
"Yeah, you go now!"
"Fuck off Team Rocket!"
A barrage of special attacks was volleyed at Team Rocket. Ashachu used thunderbolt. Geyser used Hydro cannon, Sylveon Moonblast, Flareon flamethrower, Flygon dragon breath, Dragonite Hyper beam, and Zoroark Dark Pulse. Axew sent a Draco meteor attack to rain down on the Darkrai Mecha and Hunter volleyed a focus blast attack right at the scratch cat Pokémon yelling, "I'm going to nail that Meowth right in the balls!" It promised to give one distortion world of a blast off...
It didn't...
A forcefield, similar to the laser cages Team Rocket had generated to hold Ashachu and other Pokémon from time to time appeared around the entire Darkrai Mecha. Like a red transparent dome. It seemed to absorb the attacks, so the resulting explosion and shockwave were relatively minor. Still, Ashachu and Charizard were forced to raise their claws to shield their eyes from the dust while Sniveon and Geyser bowed their heads, and the others closed their eyes. When it had passed, they were greeted with the sight of Jessie, James and Meowth guffawing with mocking laughter.
"Oh please," cried James. "Were those supposed to be attacks."
"They would have been fine if you were trying to put out a candle," Jessie added. "Alright Meowth, let's show them the true strength of Team Rocket."
Meowth's eyes lit up malevolently as he tapped at the phone like device in his claws. "Now try dis on fer size!"
The Mechanical Darkrai's arms lifted up and moved outward as though it were spreading them out to embrace something or someone. But then at the very ends, where Darkrai's claws should have been, two cyclical cannon appeared. As they watched, the cannons started to glow with what appeared to be a red electricity formed into a ball.
"RUN!"
All of Ash's Pokémon gathered there turned tail and scattered. Running as fast as they could to get away as the Darkrai-cannon's fired their energy balls. There was a loud explosion followed by cries of shock and pain. As Ashachu ran, he felt a terrible pain rip through his entire body. As though a fire was spreading underneath his skin. He tripped and fell over, suddenly unable to move.
He let out a sharp cry. "Pikaaaaa!"
"Huh Ashachu." Charizard stopped running and looked back over his shoulder. His eyes widened and his jaw dropped when he saw Ashachu lying limply in the grass, his body buzzing with that same red electricity produced by the cannons. He had been hit. "Ahhhh."
He wasn't the only. The ground was littered with the paralysed forms of Sylveon, Sniveon, Flygon, Zoroark and Nova. Mechanical grabbers extended from the Mecha to collect them. As Charizard watched, Nova, Zoroark and Flygon were hoisted into the air.
"Oh no you don't," Charizard snarled as a grabbed positioned itself over Ashachu.
He thew himself on it, taking hold of it with both claws and then biting down on the arm linking it to the Mecha with his teeth. He felt it snap beneath his jaws, and the arm withdrew. He quickly spat out the shrapnel and threw the now useless mechanical hand aside. he regretted biting it, as the metal had cut his gum causing it to bleed.
But that was the least of his worries at the moment. Jessie had taken out a Pokéball and thrown it, shouting, "Go Seviper!"
Charizard had seen and fought Seviper, the snake like Pokémon with the pointed face and blade like tail, and never considered them to pose too much of a challenge (which rocket Pokémon did?). What he was not expecting was to be greeted with the sight of a Seviper that was nearly as big as he was. Three times the size of a regular Seviper, with a set of fangs nearly as long as his arm.
"What the hell..."
Jessie laughed. "What's wrong Charizard, never seen a totem Pokémon before?"
Seviper seemed to be glowing with a golden aura. Charizard was not the only one alarmed. There was an outcry from the remaining Pokémon left standing. Axew, Dragonite, Geyser and Snivy.
"Let's see how strong the twerp's strongest Pokémon is now. Alright Seviper, Poison Tail."
Seviper struck out with its tail. Faster than Charizard had been expecting. He managed to the avoid the attack by taking to the air. Once airborne he figured he would have a slight advantage over a much larger opponent. It made a bigger target for a flamethrower attack. Unfortunately, Seviper seemed to take little damage at the flames struck the snake like Pokémon in it's hide.
"Serrr." Seviper twisted its head around to look at Charizard. It raised its brows at the Flame Pokémon as though to say is that it...
Down below, other Pokémon were joining the fight. James had sent out his Carnivine and Inkay to fight Axew, Dragonite, Geyser, Hunter and Snivy and to keep them away from Seviper so the snake would be free to deal with Charizard.
"Seviper, use haze attack," cried Jessie.
Seviper exhausted a huge cloud of black smoke into the air from its maw and the world turned to darkness. Charizard, who had used a similar move as a Charmander, had never experienced a haze or smokescreen attack this complete before. The smoke was thick and irritating on the eyes and throat and it blocked out light completely. He couldn't see a thing. All he could do was try and listen for the sounds of the snake attacking.
"System recharged, firing again," called out Meowth.
Charizard realized quickly what that meant as he heard the whirr of the cannons. He rocketed upwards hoping against hope he would be able to avoid being hit. There was a loud bang followed by the cries of downed Pokémon. His heart was thundering in his chest, and he could feel a pang in his stomach. He was okay for the time being.
He heard Dragonite's voice call out to him. "Charizard. Are you somewhere nearby."
"Yeah, I'm here," he called back. "What's going on. Where are you, who got hit?"
"I can't see a thing," said Dragonite. "
"Extending grabber," called Meowth.
"Shit Ashachu." Charizard dived back down towards the ground, in a desperate attempt to get to Ashachu before the mechanical Darkrai could. But as he descended however, he felt something heavy and sharp pierce his left side. "ZARDDDD." Pain overcame his body, and he became momentarily unable to move his wings. He dropped out of the sky like a rock landing hard in the grass below. "Shit!"
The pain was bad. He felt as though he had been stabbed, but it was worse than that. From the wound in his side, poison was spreading through his system. Like Acid in his veins. He begun to feel nauseous and dizzy.
"I'm hit," he cried out in the hope that Dragonite or somebody else would be able to help him.
Fortunately, at that point, the haze started to fade away and his surroundings became clear. It had started to rain, droplets of water scattering across his scales. It was, however, a small mercy. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the giant Seviper behind him. "Shit shit shit." Fighting his positioning, he tried to scramble away on his all fours.
"Use wrap Seviper," commanded Jessie.
Charizard tried to get away, but Seviper was too quick for him. Seviper launched itself forward, tackling Charizard to the ground and pressing it's immense weight down upon his whole body. Then it coiled around him, wrapping it's body around Charizard's leaving only his head poking out.
"Fuck," Charizard swore as he thrashed and tried to free himself, to no avail. He looked up and saw Seviper's head raised above his. A forked tongue flicked out of his paw, tasting the air and Charizard's scent and panic on it.
"Hsssss. How they might have fallen," Seviper hissed at him, a note of mirth in its raspy voice. "I expected sss so much better from the twerps ssss strongest Pokémon. You're Assssh'sss ace in the sssss hole and look at you now."
The coils were tightening around him. Charizard couldn't move an inch. Still, he gave Seviper a defiant look and growled, "Do you all call my trainer the twerp?"
"Charizard," Dragonite shouted from up above. "I'm coming, Ahhhh."
A mechanical grabbed reached up and swiped at him, as he tried to dive down to help Charizard.
Jessie, James and Meowth were watching, dumbfounded.
"Wow," exclaimed James. "We just took down the twerp's strongest Pokémon."
"Today, we make Team Rocket history," cried Jessie, pumping her fist in the air.
"All for one and one for all," added Meowth (for some reason). "Now all we need to do is wait for the twerp to show."
