Asami Stato wasn't one to get angry easily. She was good with controlling her emotions, but there were times when she couldn't contain them. This was one of those times as she marched down a United Republic army detention centre towards a particular prisoner. Rage burned into her as she thought of all that could have been. She had lost her father, now she lost the one she loved and never got the chance to tell her. Holding back her tears she reached the cell and kicked the door open.

Kuvira, the so called 'Great Uniter', stood in the middle of the room like a soldier on display. Her arms bound in a platinum arm sleeve preventing her from bending metal and earth. The warlord didn't have time to look surprised as Asami marched up and grabbed her by the collar. She then slammed Kuvira into a wall causing her to yell out in pain while she moved in close.

"Where is she?" Asami growled.

Kuvira, despite having the wind knocked out of her managed to wheeze an answer. "I don't know,"

"Not good enough," the CEO replied as she moved closer.

"Asami!" a voice called out before she was pulled back, letting the former leader fall to the floor coughing.

"Let me go!" Asami protested.

"I know how you feel," Bolin said as he moved up to help his brother restrain her. "But killing her isn't going to solve anything,"

That just made her green eyes narrow at the woman before them. "It will rid the world of her," she shot back as she struggled against the two brothers.

That made Kuvira look down at the floor, downcast as she contemplated her mistakes. That just made Asami yell out in anger before a metal cable wrapped around her, preventing her from moving. Three looked to see Master Tenzin and Chief Beifong walking in. The latter sharing the same look as Asami, but not moving to murder the Earth Kingdom native.

"Trust me Sato, the feeling is mutual, but right now we have to do things by the law," Lin said in a cold ton as Kuvira stood without help.

"What happened?" Tenzin asked, letting some hate and anger into his voice. A rarity for him.

Kuvira said nothing at first, almost prompting Tenzin to ask again but Mako walked up and placed his hand on the monk's shoulder. Asami had calmed down a little, allowing Bolin to hold onto her, but her anger was still there. After what felt like an age Kuvira began to talk.

"I don't know," she replied. "I remember… I remember Korra yelling at me to turn the weapon off and me trying to fix it. But I couldn't. It was going into overdrive. When I looked to her… she was… she was floating,"

"Avatar state?" Mako asked, but Kuvira shook her head.

"No, I know that look. This was something else," she blinked and shook her head. "No wait…" she muttered. "She was in the avatar state… but something was off,"

"Define 'off'," Lin demanded.

Kuvira paused as she shook her head in an adept to get her head straight. "I… I don't know. It was like she was there, but wasn't at the same time. She was in the avatar state, but only half of her was. It looked forced… not deliberate… the other half didn't look like her at all. Like it was another person. Red hair like it was on fire, scars across her body and piercing green eyes…." Kuvira trailed off as she began to shake.

It was slow at first, but then she collapsed and began to convulse. Tenzin was the first up to try and help her while Lin moved out of the cell to try and find a medic. Mako, Bolin and Asami just watched as Tenzin attended to Kuvira.

"Kuvira, look at me," he said. "Focus…. I'm here, here to help," he spoke in a soft calming tone, trying to keep her grounded to this realm.

Kuvira began to breath, quickly at first before she managed to slow and breath deeply. Locking eyes with Tenzin, she focused on him, her eyes communicating fear. The other three saw it was well and looked to each other.

"So..s…som…so. something came through… it's not from here… it's hungry… yo.. you have to…." she trailed off as she fell into unconsciousness as a medic arrived and ushered everyone out.

Once outside Mako was the first to speak up. "Something came though? Does he mean the spirit portal?" he asked no one in particular.

"I don't think so," Tenzin said as he stroked his beard. "What she said before that… how Korra was and wasn't in the Avtar state…. that's what's got me concerned," he muttered. "From the sounds of things, it sounds like there were two people, not just one,"

"Could be delusions," Asami snorted.

"She wasn't lying," Lin spoke up. "I was monitoring her heartbeat. She may have been confused about what she saw and couldn't make it out, but there was no lie,"

"So, someone else may have been there? I mean it makes sense since she saw two people…" Bolin added but Mako placed a hand on his shoulder before he could trail off.

"If she saw two people… where's this other person?" the firebender asked. "We only found Kuvira next to the portal, no one else,"

Tenzin nodded. "She could be anywhere…" his eyes widened slightly. "She could be…" he began but was stopped when a White lotus guard came running.

"Master Tenzin, Zaheer's prison has been breached," she said panting. "He's escaped,"

The faces of the five drained of colour as they processed the news.

OOOOO

"This is so cool," Korra said as she looked out of the window of the Normandy. "I didn't know if this was even possible,"

Miranda smiled slightly remembering when she was little and seeing the stars in space for the first time. Time and regularity had dulled that for her. It was refreshing to see. Korra, now dressed in a spare Cerberus uniform, was being given a tour of the ship to get her used to this new life. For however long that would be.

"Ooooo can we go to that planet over there?" the bender asked.

The XO moved over to the window and looked over before shaking her head. "Afraid not. That's a gas giant. A planet with enough mass to hold in gases. If we go in there, the winds and gravity will break us down,"

"Sounds nasty," Korra muttered. "How many worlds do you have?"

"Humanity as a whole has around 600-star systems with new colonies popping up each month. We have the ability to adapt and survive in a lot of environments. So, we can quickly expand," Miranda explained. "And that's just the way we have lived,"

Korra nodded at that, looking out at the stars. "Same with my world, we adapt and survive," she looked down at her hands.

"Concerned about your newfound powers?" a new voice said.

Korra turned and stared at the tall blue woman who entered the observation deck. "H..w…w…" she muttered looking at the Asari up and down making the older woman chuckle.

"I haven't seen that look in a while," the woman said with a smirk before bowing. "I'm Samara, an Asari Justicar,"

Korra just looked at the Asari before getting her wits together and bowed. "I'm Avatar Korra, it's a pleasure," she said. "It's a pleasure,"

"Well, at least there are humans with manners," the asari said glancing to Miranda in an unsubtle jibe. "The XO here had asked me to train you with biotics,"

"After that, it's firearms training with this handsome fellow," a second voice chimed in as Garrus walked in making Korra's eyes widen even more. "Your right, it is fun to see their reaction,"

Korra just shut down as the alien in front of her laughed.

OOOOO

Iroh watched as Kwon moved though some basic firebender moves. But she didn't seem to grasp some parts of the basic bending. She managed to throw fire and move earth, but waterbending and airbending wasn't something she managed to do. He wasn't sure why, but it may have something to do with her personality. He recalled Zuko mentioning how Aang couldn't get earthbending due to how opposite it was to him, both fundamentally and personally.

Stroking his beard Iroh thought about what to do. Kwon wasn't an Avatar, or at least, not an avatar in this world and there was only so much he could teach her. But something told him that he wasn't meant to. He looked to Kwon as a wind blew his hair gently. Setting his tea aside he stood and approached Shepard as she finished the set that Iroh had given her to do. She relaxed and looked to him with an odd look.

"I'm guessing I've outstayed my welcome," she said in a natural tone.

Iroh chuckled sadly and waved his hand. "No, no, nothing like that," he responded. "You are more than welcome to stay, but I think your destiny lays out there, not here. Something has happened out there. Something that requires your attention,"

Shepard gave him a doubtful look but stood straighter and looked down at herself. "Well, I'm probably going something more than this," she indicated to the white shirt she wore. "And a way out,"

Iroh chuckled with humour this time. "I can help with both," he smiled as he led her into the tea shop.

She followed him as he moved over to the storage section and picked up a crate before opening it. "I had these in case anyone needed them," he said as he stepped away.

Kwon walked up and looked inside with a smile. "Red and black? My favourite," she said as she pulled out a red and black jacket with red trousers. "What's this fire emblem?" she asked pointing to an emblem stitched into the arm.

"That's a Fire Nation flag. You may want to pull it off. Not everyone wears it these days," he replied.

Kwon nodded as she took hold of the bad and ripped it off before pausing. "Does wearing this indicate I'm from the fire nation?"

"Yes," Iroh nodded. "Most, if not everyone, wears a colour related to their native element,"

"Huh, in my world everyone just wears whatever the hell they want," Kwan said as she pulled out the rest of the clothing. "I like, but I have a feeling that I'm going to need to change when I get out there," she said before looking at Iroh. "Are you going to be a creepy old man?" she smiled.

Iroh laughed as he left her to get changed. It didn't take her long as she exited a few moments later. Other then the black and red jacket and red trousers, she also wore a pair of buckled boots that stopped just before her knees. She kept the white shirt on under the jacket. The only problem was how baggy the clothing was.

"Probably going to need to find some new clothing when I get out of here," she muttered.

"I agree, these clothes are probably out of date. But should suffice for now," he smiled back. "Now as for getting out of here, you need to meditate and picture the human world. You may not be 'the Avatar' but you do have her powers. So, you may be able to do what she can as well,"

Kwon nodded and found a spot to sit down cross legged. "Focus on the world beyond," she muttered as she pressed her firsts together and closed her eyes.

"Before you go," he began and she opened her eyes. "You will be able to find people who will be able to help you understand the elements at a place called Air Temple Island. It's in republic city, and a notable landmark,"

She nodded, before looking up. "What's this something I'm meant to look for?"

"A prison of a dangerous man," Iroh answered. "I do not know the location, but you should look out for people of the White lotus. They will help,"

"Thank you," Kwon said as she closed her eyes and began to focus.

Iroh sat and watched as Kwon mediated, focused and felt the world around her shift. As quickly as she was there, she vanished.

"Good luck," he said as he sipped his tea.
