DRAGON PRINCE

The war had ended

After many days of quiet planning and their not-so-planned fighting. Viren has finally lost to Callum and his friends.

It was a joyous occasion

Though, not everyone in the kingdom was celebrating. In fact, there were many who were weeping over their loved ones or were trying to replace their loyalty with their kingdom once again.

And there were some that knew that Viren has manipulated them, but yet were still wanting to follow in the fellow lord's footsteps.

Those people were targeted the moment the war ended.

"RUN!"

Two fellow humans took off running, not leaving any trace of themselves behind them. Panting, and sweating, the two reached their designation, huddling in the wooden house.

"Finally," a voice sighed out as they both took off their hoods.

It was revealed that one of the humans was a fair young maiden, whose brown hair reached to her shoulders. The other was a young man, who had short blond hair, and a scar to accompany his looks. Both were average in height and bore the same weight as many teenagers.

Though, sometimes they held more on than shoulders than a growing individual should.

"They're running in the opposite direction," The girl whispered, watching a band of villagers run past their cozy little cottage. "I believe that we've tricked them."

"Good," The young man lowered his hood, "I do despise people chasing us."

"You're the reason we're in this situation Crypto," The girl lowered her hood, effectively taking off her long black cloak.

The young man, formally known as Crypto, followed his sister actions. He took off his cloak and set it near the door. "Don't start this conversation Averice, you already know how it's going to end."

Averice did know how it was going to end, and for that, she wanted to accept defeat. But it had been her brothers fault, now she was at her end. Being chased by angry villagers for something that she hadn't wanted to do.

But her brother did always drag her with him in situations like this

"But am I wrong Cy? It was your idea to follow Viran." She exclaimed.

Crypto sighed, clearly defeated by some means. "So maybe you're right. But I did it all for you Av, everything I ever do is for you. You're all that I have left."

"But why Viran?"

"Because he promised me something, something that would be good for the both of us."

"Oh really?" Averice raised an eyebrow. "And what would that be?"

Crypto waved absentmindedly. "That's not important. What's important is finding another source."

"Another source?"

"Yes, a powerful one."

Scenarios flashed through Averice's head, each ending in a similar manner. Her brother had always gone for things that were far beyond their reach, and now what he was clearly suggesting wasn't anything short of it.

"And why do you need this power source?" She asked. "And how do you plan to get it? If you're suggesting what I think you're saying, then how do you plan to steal a dragon?"

Her brother snorted, clearly entertained at the prospect of stealing something so guarded. "You must be out of your mind Av, there isn't any way that I would be able to steal a dragon. But I can steal something else far easier."

Fear impended itself into Averice's heart, for she knew much more than what her brother was about to suggest. Or at the very least, plan out in a timely matter.

"Then what do you plan to steal?" She asked timely.

"Something far better, although you might try and stop me if you knew."

"That only makes me curious, now enlighten me my dear brother. What do you plan to take?"

Crypto smiled wide. "Well, if you really want to know...I plan to steal something that...well...is within our skill set. But its not really the thing I need, it's the item's power that intrigues me."

"You see..." Crypto added on. "There's a better world for us out there Av, but it's not easy to acquire. So, we need a little bit of a push in the right direction."

"Crypto, what are you planning to take?" Averice asked firmly.

Walking over, her brother went over to the fireplace and sat down. His eyes grazed over his sister, and sighed knowing that Averice wasn't going to love his plan.

"Listen sis, you know how our life hasn't exactly been easy." He said softly. "But there is another option, one that would change both of our lives forever, though it needs a strong power source to do it. That's all I can tell you for now."

Averice knew down in her heart that she wasn't going to get any more answers, but she needed to know one last thing.

"Is this thing that we're going to steal," she sat down next to her brother, "going to be easy to take?"

"No, its rather guarded."

"If I'm going to help you steal something, you need to at least tell me what we're going to take. You owe me that, at the very least."

"I guess that you're right. But before I tell you, you need to promise me that you wouldn't freak out, hear me out." His sister nodded. "So, in order to make this process work, it requires a powerful source, but I've already told you that. What I didn't tell you is that the source can't be anything that would easily be defeated, instead, it needs to be more resistant. There's only one source that fits that description, and that source is a..."

Averice was on the edge of her seat, patiently waiting for the answer that she craved. Her heart pounded, her mind told her to run, but her feet remained planted on the cold wooden floor.

Her brother took in a deep breath. "What we need is a mage, a mage that doesn't rely on dark magic, but rather primal energy."

There was a moment of silence before Averice snorted, clearly knowing that her brother was delirious with false hope. Though, her brother clearly hadn't been let in on the joke, causing him to quickly enlarge with irritation.

"What's so funny about that?" He asked.

His sister let out one last laugh before taking in more deep breaths. "I'll give it to Cy; you certainly reach above and beyond. But there is one small, tiny, flaw in your grand plan."

Crypto raised an eyebrow. "And what would that be Av?"

"You seem to forget that there is only one mage that doesn't use dark magic, and that mage is a prince. A prince that is constantly surrounded by guards, his family, and lives in a large castle. There is no way we would get near Prince Callum."

"Aw my dear sister, you seem to forget that I'm not riddled with stupidity. I already have a plan, a plan that involves a damsel in distress, and a brave hero lurking in the shadows."

"No, I'm not doing this," Averice stood up. "There is no way that I'm going to help you steal the prince! Following Viren and his dumb teaching was one thing, but kidnapping Prince Callum is on a whole new level."

Crypto might be her brother, her support system, and the only family left. But she refused to be his puppet, especially when it came to hurting other people. For that, it hurt to think that he was willing to put her through these type of things.

"Please Averice, we're not going to kidnap him...we're just going to borrow him for a few weeks. And then we'll return him all brand new, nobody will that we stole him in the first place."

"Oh Crypto, they will know."

"Not if we do it with precision. Don't you trust me?"

Averice's mind twisted with conflicting thoughts. On one hand, she wanted to make this seamless reality that her brother wanted, but it wasn't right to grab someone and force them to their will. Though, she had half a mind to tell Crypto that he was doing that to her already.

But if nobody got hurt...

"Fine," Averice decided. "I'll go along with you're plan. But you have to promise no one will get hurt. Even Prince Callum."

Her brother smiled wide. "Of course, Av, I promise with my whole heart. Now, let's go get us a Prince."
