Soul Drinkers Lore

New fanfic where the Soul Drinkers Chapter their own adventures, right now it's just their lore.

Disclaimers: I own nothing, the ones who made it are the real owners.

The Soul Drinkers are a Space Marine Loyalist Chapter who was a successor chapter to the Imperial First, at least that what the entire Chapter believed at first, but that revealed to be untrue.

Anyway, the Soul Drinkers Chapter was created by Rogal Dorn during the Second Founding long after the Horus Heresy was finally over. The Soul Drinkers Chapter was formed primarily from the remaining fleet based shock attack elements of the Imperial Fists Legion, which means they don't have a home world like the original Space Marine Chapters. At its founding, Dorn also presented the Soul Drinkers with one of its oldest and most revered artifacts, it's a weapon known as the Soulspear and as a symbol of purpose and as a sign that, despite being split into separate Chapters, all of the Imperial Fists successors were still united in spirit and brotherhood. At least when the Soul Drinkers believed they were a Successor Chapter to the Imperial Fist at that time.

During The War of the Beast, the Soul Drinkers combined with other Imperial Fists Successor Chapters into a Legion as per the Last Wall protocol at the behest of Koorland. Chapter Master Euclydeas was given a third of the combined fleet of the forces at Terra. During the conflict, the Soul Drinkers contributed a portion of their strength to rebuild the Imperial Fists.

In another conflict, a Soul Drinkers detachment, led by Commander Caeon, supported a large force of Imperial Guard Forces against the Eldar on Quixian Obscura which the Imperials have won the battle and the Eldar lost.

However an event eventually label the Soul Drinkers into becoming renegades even thought they are still loyal to the Imperium and fight in the Emperor's name.

It began with an operation and mission to obtain one of the Chapter's lost relics, the great Soulspear, a weapon used by Rogal Dorn during the Great Crusade, from a criminal organization that had come to possess it somehow. Three companies of Marines, led by Commander Caeon were called on by the Adeptus Administratum to assault the base of operations of the cartel, located in orbit of the planet known as Lakonia. Just as the 300 Soul Drinkers had taken the orbital defense platform where the relic was being held, and were about to reclaim the Spear, unexpectedly a detachment of Adeptus Mechanicus forces, supposedly there to support the Imperial effort to capture the platform, teleported into the vault that the Soulspear was stored in and took the relic before the Soul Drinkers could get there.

After that, the Soul Drinkers then fortified the platform and demanded the Soulspear return to them, but the Mechanicus had it already been passed along to another vessel that was on route to the Forge World of Koden Tertius. The Mechanicus then revealed a great siege cannon from their starship, the Soul Drinkers were forced to board and destroy the Mechanicus weapon before it could be used against them, they ended up slaying 1000 of Tech-Guard in the process. Right after taking out the weapon, the Soul Drinkers detonated explosives on the orbital platform, causing it to fall into Lakonia's atmosphere and burn up, before fleeing aboard their two Strike Cruisers.

Well because of what the Soul Drinkers have done to the Mechanicus, they are marked as as Renegades by the Imperial Inquisition who don't care on why the Soul Drinkers did it anyway. Sarpedon himself was then confronted by his Chapter Master Gorgoleon. Both Sarpedon and Gorgoleon battle to the death which Sarpedon won because a strange mutation made grow some spider-like legs.

XXX

During the 1st Chapter War after Sarpedon has grown some spider legs and killed Gorgoleon and made himself the new Chapter Master, some of the Novices Space Marines and some others refused to follow a mutant Sarpedon and took up arms and barricaded themselves throughout their fleet. It took Sarpedon and those loyal to him, several months to kill them all after rooting them out.

Despite still loyal and fighting in the Emperor's name, but disillusioned by the Imperium and unknowingly under the influence of a Tzeentch Chaos Daemon Prince in the guise of an aspect of the Emperor, Sarpedon opted to keep his Chapter renegade rather than clear things up, scuttled the Soul Drinker fleet, and resettled the Chapter into a Space Hulk they dubbed the Brokenback. Soon after, the Chaos Daemon Prince Abraxes mislead the Soul Drinkers into attacking one of his rivals, the Chaos Nurgle Daemon Prince Ve'Meth. After the deed was done, that ended taking a form of a virus infesting several hundred ordinary people, Abraxes revealed his true nature. He handed Sarpedon the Soulspear and offered the Soul Drinkers the chance to serve as his personal retinue of Chaos Space Marines. Though Sarpedon considered his options, he ultimately refused and attacking Abraxes and his Chaos Daemons and slaying them all.

The Soul Drinkers would going in participating on other Mission even a 2nd Chapter War that involves battling various Xenos and Chaos Forces while at the same time helping other Imperial Forces regardless of the fact they are renegades now even thought they still fight in the Emperor's name.

After all those Adventures and Missions, they meet their Endgame.

After being capture, the remaining Soul Drinkers were brought to trial on board The Phalanx, and a conclave of Imperial Fist successor chapters and other concerned parties gathered to pass judgement on them. During the trial, Commander Gethsemar of the Angels Sanguine stated that the Sanguinary Priests of his Chapter had examined the gene-seed of the Soul Drinkers, as part of their research into the link between the gene-seed and the related Primarch and also to see if the chapters fall was related to corruption of the gene-seed, and they discovered that Rogal Dorn is not the Chapter's Primarch at all.

During the subsequent trial, it was learned that a Dreadnought name Daenyathos was in fact still alive and had laid down the seeds of a Chapter which would rebel against the Imperium, using the Chaplaincy as his agents in his absence. Knowing that the Imperial Fists would try to claim authority over their supposed successor, Daenyathos had himself brought aboard and the Phalanx and freed by a cult he had seeded millennia earlier. Escape, it turns out Daenyathos used the Predator's Eye warp gate within the Phalanx to release a Chaos Daemon which by chance was Abraxes. Daenyathos planned to have Abraxes bring the Imperium into a new dark age, believing that a stronger Imperium of Man which he himself would rule over, would emerge from the ashes.

While Iktinos and his flock of Soul Drinkers followers joined up Daenyathos, the majority of the surviving Soul Drinkers refused to be Daenyathos's pawns and joined the Imperial Fists in fighting off Abraxes's Chaos army and closing the warp gate. By the battle's end, Abraxes had been defeated by Captain Luko and Sarpedon had destroyed Daenyathos's Dreadnought, taking him prisoner.

In the process, however, all the remaining Soul Drinkers except for Sarpedon, Daenyathos, Luko, and Graevus were killed. Luko, Graevus, and Sarpedon chose to walk into the warp gate, with Sarpedon dragging a screaming Daenyathos with him, bringing an end to the Soul Drinkers chapter, their ultimate fates are unknown. Now convinced that they were in fact loyal servants of the Emperor of Man, the Imperial Fists inscribed a column in the Phalanx's Apothecarion with the names of the fallen Soul Drinkers, holding them as worthy and honorable brothers in death.

Despite the Imperial Fists' recognition of the Soul Drinkers' ultimate loyalty, the Chapter still presented an awkward legacy to the Imperium. As a result, the Inquisition suppressed information on the Soul Drinkers and ensured that the Chapter was mostly forgotten over the following time.

But Sarpedon and his Soul Drinkers would live on, in Alternate Universe where they will soon find things are very different then the Universe they know all too well. While in the Mainstream Universe, the Imperium of Man refounded their own Soul Drinkers to honor the old one.

End

Coming up next, Sarpedon and his Chapter even those who supposedly died are reborn in Alternate Universe of the Warhammer 40K, there they meet their Emperor except the change is the Gender, who explain things to them.

Soul Drinkers will get their own Adventures in Crossovers. Also Soul Drinkers Space Marine Military Vehicles and Arsenals will be the same thing like have in my Profile Settings.

Soul Drinkers Characters, I choose the ones I like even if they don't have pictures of them, but only those who choose to stay loyal to Sarpedon and the Imperium of Man. Some might be OC made by me, lastly Sarpedon will be back to his original self without the spider legs.

Power Armor they all will wear is the MK-VII Aquila and the Indomitus Terminator Power Armor because I like those are my favorite Power Armor and everyone wears Helmets.

Also everyone will look like Firstborn/Tactical Space Marines despite the Ranks and Roles they have.
