Chapter 3: First Day in The Owl House

Morning came and Christa woke up. She sat up and yawned as the day light shined at her. She turned over and saw Luz wasn't there. She got up and looked around the room. But did see some clothes folded right next for her. On it was a note that said " Here are some better clothes for you. Come down when ready. -Luz" As she read it someone startled her from behind.

Hooty: Hi Christa!

Christa: AAAAH!

Christa freaked out and hit Hooty the head, making him moved back to the window.

Hooty: Ow. I was just wishing you a good morning, geez. Hoot.

Christa: Wait I'm sorry.

Christa approached Hooty and rubbed his head.

Christa: I didn't mean to hurt you. I was just scared.

Hooty: Aw it's okay. It's not the first time I got hit just by greeting someone. Sorry if I startled you.

Christa: Is Luz here?

Hooty: She and the others went to town about an hour ago to do something. Forgot what though. But Lillith is still here. I think she wanted to see you.

Christa: I'll be down there then. I'll see you there.

Hooty: Oh, oh when you do you wanna talk about dreams? I had a crazy dream where I had an actual body and was hunky and King was really this weird triangle guy with a top hat but was actually scary and ruled the world. Hoot! Hoot!

Christa: Maybe later. I need to get ready. But I'd like to hear it whenever.

Hooty: Okay new bestie! Hoot! Hoot!

Hooty exited out of the window as Christa giggled as he left.

Minutes later Christa made her way downstairs. She was now wearing a red shirt with black pants and brown shoes. She saw Lilith on the floor, examing the pod.

Lilith: Interesting, this isn't something Emeperor's coven had nor something from Blight Industries. At least I don't think.

Lilith then saw Christa near the stairs.

Lilith: Oh Christa good morning. Did you sleep alright?

Christa: I did, Luz is not here right?

Lilith: She'll back soon. Come you must be hungry, I'll get breakfast for you ready.

Lilith lead Christa to the kitchen and made her some breakfast, griffin eggs and erymanthian boar bacon. She served her plate as Christa began eating.

Christa: This is really good, thank you Miss Lilith.

Lilith: ( smiles) You're very welcome. How's your head?

Christa: It doesn't hurt anymore but I still can't remember anything.

Lilith: Give it time. You're memories will return somehow.

Christa: Why were you looking for from the pod?

Lilith: Examing it. I'm trying to see where it came from to find out how you were connected to it. Well I just barely started I havent found out what exactly it is.

Christa: I appreciate.

Lilith: You know I think you need one more touch on your new look.

Lilith gets a hair band and ties it around Christa's hair making it into a ponytail

Lilith: There that looks better.

Christa: Wow thanks.

Hooty: Ding dong! Hoot! Hoot!

Hooty opens the door and Luz, Eda and King return.

Luz: Christa, good morning. I see you got my note on your new clothes. I didn't want to wake you since I felt you needed some rest.

Christa: That's fine. Where did you go?

Eda: Well in order to find your parents we went out to make some missing person flyers. Though technically your found but we tried to make flyers that we found you. But we need a picture of you.

Luz: That's why we're back. I need a picture of you.

Christa: Oh alright.

Luz got her phone out.

Christa: How should we do this?

Luz: Just sit down and just face the camera. Give a small smile.

Christa sat down on the couch and had her hands on her lap. She smiled at the camera as Luz took her picture.

Luz: Okay now make a silly face.

Christa: What?

Luz: Just make a face.

Christa didn't know what to do and just sticked her tongue out. Luz just chuckled and took the picture.

Luz: Okay, okay now take that broomstick and raise it in the air like a warrior holding a sword.

Christa did as she said and Luz took the picture.

Christa: Wait is this still part of the flyer?

Luz: No only the first one, the others were just for fun. Check it out.

Luz came over to her and showed her the pictures.

Luz: Oh watch this.

Luz selects an app of picture filters. She chose one filter that gave Christa a crown of flowers.

Christa: That's cute.

Luz: You think that's cute watch this.

Luz then replaces the flowers and adds dog ears, nose and tongue. Christa began to laugh.

Luz: Oh here's one more.

Luz went to the second phote and added a gold crown on Christa and made the broomstick like a sword and added medievel fanfare.

Christa: That is so cool. How do you do that?

Luz: That is the power of photo filtering. Anyway, I'll add your main photo to the flyers soon. Right now, it's time for our glyph magic lessons. You want to join?

Christa: Is it okay?

Luz: Sure, maybe you knew magic and this could help remembering.

Christa: I guess it could.

Luz: Come on let's go.

Christa: Okay com... AAAH!

Christa tripped and fell on her face.

Luz: Are you okay?

Christa: Yeah, how did I...

Christa looked down at her feet and saw her shoe laces were untied and had an embarresed look and nervously chuckled.

Christa: Hehehehehe, oops. My shoes are untied.

Luz: Hey no need to be embarresed. Come on.

Luz helped her up. As Christa tied her shoes they went outside where Eda and Lilith were sitting on their desks. King was near the chalkboard waiting for them. Eda was carving somethings on her desk with a pocket knife like " Eda Rules, Lilly Drools" and " Skool is for chumps."

Lilith: Edalyn stop you're grafiting the desks.

Eda: Whats the big deal they're ours and I'm imprinting this one that it's mine.

Luz: Alrigt class settle down. Today we have a new student. Say hello to Christa.

Christa: But you already know my name.

Luz: ( whispers) I know just play along.

Christa: Oh uh...Hello.

Eda and Lilith: Hello Christa.

Hooty: Hi Christa!

King: ( to Hooty) You're not in this class!

Luz: Now we don't have a desk for you yet, so take a chair and I guess share a desk with someone.

Christa: I can share with Miss Lilith.

Christa took a chair and sat next to Lilith.

Luz: Alright class. Welcome to day 5 of Luz's Magic Boot Camp.

A couple fire glyphs activated near Luz for dramatic effect. Lilith claps with excitement while Eda looked bored.

Luz: Now because we have a new student, I'm gonna go over a basic summary of what glyphs are first.

Luz uncovered the chalk board showing the four glyhps.

Luz: Glyphs are symbols that are drawn inside a spell circle. There are four known glyphs. There's light, ice, plant and fire. These are the only glyphs I know now. So today we're learning something new.

Lilith: Are we about to encounter a never before seen glyph?

Luz: Unfortunatly no. These four either came from nature or from another with's spell. I don't know where to find more.

Luz flips the chalk board to show the other side.

Luz: So we'll keep learning on combining glyphs to do certain things. Does everyone have their homework ready?

Lilith: ( raising her hand) Ms teacher. Did I do it right?

Lilith shows Luz her a drawing of glyph combos.

Luz: Yeah that's really good. Let's see yours Eda.

Eda was carving a fire and ice glyph on her desk. But the way they were drawn they were on top of each other.

Luz: Uh Eda I don't think that' such a good...

Eda: Double glyph combo go!

Eda tried activating the combo, only for it to flicker and blow up.

Eda: Oh dang. I was hoping for more of an ice blast situation.

Luz: I know you're impatient to get your powers back, but try and master the basics firsts.

Eda: I don't need to master basics. I'm too cool for this.

Luz: You won't get anywhere with that attitude.

Eda: Ugh, you're as boring as Lily.

Lilith: I heard that.

Eda: I know.

Luz: Okay Christa, let's try something with you.

Christa: But I don't know the first thing about magic.

Luz: And that's why you're here. Let's start with something simple.

Luz hands her a piece of paper and a pencil.

Luz: Now try and draw a light glyph.

Luz shows her on the board a light glyph.

Luz: Just draw what you see on the board.

Christa took the pencil and tried to draw the light glyph.

Christa: Okay now what?

Luz: Now slap it with the palm of your hand.

Christa slapped the glyph and it formed into a ball of light. Christa looked at it with amazement and her eyes sparkled.

Christa: Wow.

Lilith: See you're doing good.

Christa: It's so pretty.

Luz: Yeah I remember the first time I made the light glyph.

Christa: So pretty...must...touch...

Luz: Uh I wouldn't do that if I was...

But Christa touched the light glyph as it bursted into a bright flash. Everyone covered their eyes in time, but Christa didn't as the flash hurt her eyes.

Christa: Ah! Oh my eyes! My eyes!

Christa got off the chair as she rubbed her eyes as she was freaking out. Luz ran to her.

Christa: Luz I can't see.

Luz: Just relax it might strain a bit but you'll be fine.

Christa: I can't see!

But suddenly when Christa was waving her arm, the emerald on her forehead began to glow and a strong fire blast shot out from her hand. Luz jumped back away but the blast was heading towards Lilith and Eda, but luckily they dodged it fast as the fire incinerated their desks and burnt right through the trees but not causing a forest fire. Everyone was looking at the burnt damage and stood their in astonishment.

King: What the heck was that?

Lilith: Did she just do that?

Christa was rubbing her eyes and was regaining vision.

Christa: Ah, that's better. Thought I was gonna go blind.

Christa then saw everyone was staring at her.

Christa: What?

Luz: Christa you just...you just did magic!

King: You just did a fire spell.

Christa: I did?

Luz: Did you not feel that?

Christa: No, or I don't think. I was freaking out on my vision.

Eda: Kid, you were able to do fire spell, look at what you did.

Christa just notices the burnt trees ahead and had a shocked look.

Christa: Oh my, did...did I really do that? Did I hurt anyone?

Lilith: Don't worry we're all fine.

Luz: Do you know wha this means? We just found out something about you. You can do magic!

Lilith: But that was incredibley powerful, even for a young witch.

Eda: But this is great, you have powers. Alright hold on...

Eda got out a dummy that looked like Emperor Belos made with flour bags, sticks and a bucket for the head.

Eda: Alright try it again, but this time on this.

Eda got out of the way as everyone got behind her. But Christa just stood there not knowing what to do.

Eda: What are you waiting for? Go on do your trick.

Christa: I don't know how.

Luz: But you just did it?

Christa: By accident.

Lilith: It's alright. Just try to make a circle with your finger tip.

Christa tried to do so but nothing happened.

Eda: You gotta concentrate.

Luz: You can do it Christa. Just focus.

Christa tried again. She made a spell circle and looked excited. Everyone else looked excited too, but all that came from the circle was a small spark of flame.

King: Well that was anti climactic.

Christa: Wait. No wait I can do it.

Christa tried it again, but it still only a spark of fire.

Eda: Concentrate to the very end. Stay focused.

Christa tried one more time. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. The emerald on her forehead began to glow and and formed the circle. She opened her eyes as they glowed yellow and a fire blast shot from the circle and reduced the Belos dummy to ash.

Luz: Woo hoo! Way to go Christa!

King: That was incredible. You're definitly going to be part of my army.

Eda: Ha, knew you could do it. Nice job Christa.

Lilith: Well done new student.

Christa: I can't believe I did it.

Christa jumped up in glee.

Christa: I did it! I did it! I actually made a spell. I made a spell!

But as Christa was jumping up and down the emerald on her forehead began to glow and ice was forming on her hand. She accidently shot it down at the floor, freezing it. Everyone was slipping on the ice and eventually fell. Christa was slipping too and fell on top of Luz.

Luz: Whoa, ice too?

Christa: Uh...oops. Hehehehe.

Later that night.

Luz and Christa were in there room getting ready for bed. Luz had a pencil and paper with her, writing something down.

Christa: What's that there Luz?

Luz: I made a list of what we know about you. Okay, so right now the only things we know about you right now that you can do magic. You can do both fire and ice. I'm wondering if you can do anymore.

Christa: I wonder that too.

Luz: But, you do need a little practice.

Christa:( frowns) I know.

Christa pulls her hair in shame.

Christa: I nearly fried you all and froze the floor, I'm so stupid.

Luz: Hey don't be like that. So you havent mastered your powers yet, it's alright. You're just realized you had them. You just need more practice that's all and we'll be there to help you control them.

Christa: Ok, thanks Luz. You're a lot nicer than I expected.

Luz: Aw thanks, it's how I am. Everyone else here is nice too, you just got to know them.

Christa: Is it time to sleep?

Luz: You can if you want, I'm gonna do a little reading.

Luz went to her trunk and got out her Azura book.

Christa: What's that?

Luz: Oh this, this is the Good Witch Azura. My favorite book.

Christa: Who's Azura?

Luz: ( gasps) Who is Azura? She's practically the greatest fictional hero in any form of media. She's a good witch who fights evil and brings peace across the land. She's my hero.

Christa: Your hero? So is she the reason you wanted to learn magic?

Luz: Uh yeah. Ever since I was 8 I always wanted to be like her. If I become like her, I'm changing my name to Luzura.

Christa: Okay that's actually kind of a cool name. Do the others like this book?

Luz: They're not too crazy, but Amity is.

Christa: Who is she, another friend of yours?

Luz: ( blushes) I mean yeah she is. Really gotta introduce you to the rest of my friends one of these days. I'm sure they'd love to meet you.

Christa: I'd like to meet them as well soon. If it's alright, can I read with you?

Luz looked excited seeing Christa was interested and pats the the floor to have her come sit next to her.

Luz: Join the club.

Christa scooted next to her as Luz brought the book in between them.

Luz: Alright we start at the beginning. Chapter 1: Presenting a New Quest...

Author's Note: That's it for this chapter. I actually had a bit of fun making this one. Something I done in a while. This was just to explore a bit on Christa's personality and what she's capable of. These couple chapters here are just about her adapting to living in the Owl House and getting to know everyone. This will be expanded more next and then I might get a little more involved in the plot. I want to try and stay true to the show rather than making it an action series like I did with Advent of the Gara Droids, there will be some, just not so often, so I'm taking this slow.
