Chapter 18: Knock, Knock, Knockin on Hooty's Door
At the Owl House. Christa, Lilith and Hooty were sitting together in the living room playing a board game called Serpants and Broomsticks.
Christa: Alright my turn.
Christa was rolling the dice.
Christa: Six.
She moved her piece up the spaces and landed on a broomstick which meant she got to take a short cut up closer to the finish line.
Christa: Alright broomstick. Your turn Lilith.
Lilith: Alright, come on give me more than two. Please.
Lilith rolled the dice getting a two.
Lilith: ( frowns) Two.
Lilith moved her piece to the space, which landed on a serpent, meaning she'd have to go down away from the finish line.
Lilith: Serpent. Ugh I suck at this game. Your turn Hootsifer.
Hooty looked a bit distracted as he was facing down.
Lilith: Hootsifer?
Christa: Hoot Hoot, hey!
Hooty: Huh what? Oh uh right. My turn! Hoot, Hoot!
Christa: And this time, please don't swallow the dice and cough it out.
Hooty: Oh yeah sure.
Hooty picked up the dice with just his beak, but not too far into his mouth. He threw down the dice to roll it and got a four.
Hooty: Four.
Hooty moved his piece and landed on a broomstick to the finish line.
Christa: Hoot Hoot you won!
Hooty however didn't look super amazed.
Hooty: ( gloomly) Oh wow, looks like I did. Hoot.
Now Christa and Lilith noticed is behavior.
Christa: Hooty is something wrong? You look kinda bummed out.
Hooty: What? Nothing's wrong CC. I'm good. Hoot, Hoot!
Lilith: Hootsifer you can talk to us. We're your friends.
Hooty: Well, it's just that. I guess I've been feeling pretty left out or unappreciated. Usually you guys, well mainly Luz, King and Eda are always out on adventures and I'm just here. Sometimes I feel like I'm not truly part of the group.
Christa: Hoot Hoot of course you're part of the group.
Lilith: It's true Hooty. You're the Owl House. You take care of everyone inside of you. If that's not a worthy purpose, than what is?
Hooty: But I wish I could do more.
Christa: Then maybe that's what you should do. How about we help you show the others how important you are?
Hooty: You really do that guys?
Lilith: Of course Hootsifer.
Hooty wraps himself around Christa and Lilith hugging them.
Hooty: Gee thanks guys. You're the best friends I could ever have. Hoot, Hoot!
Christa: You're welcome Hoot Hoot. So what do you think we should do?
Hooty: Well...
Flashback begins.
Hooty enters the living room where Luz, Eda and King have problems of their own.
Hooty: ( narrating flashback) The other day I noticed the three having probomes of their own.
Hooty: How we doing Hoot House!
King: Can you keep it ( voice cracks) down? ( adjusts voice)Down, down! Why does this keep happening?
King's voice kept cracking, implying he was going through puberty.
Hooty: Looks like our little demon is becoming a de-man.
King: Ugh, why does it sound so wrong coming from ( voice cracks) you? ( adjust voice) You! Weh! I am done with this!
Hooty approaches Eda who's face was obscured with maps she made.
Hooty: Ho, ho! Those teens eh? Their moods change like the wind.
Eda then shows her face, revealing that she has here eyes forced open with clips and looked tired.
Hooty: Whoa!
Eda: I'm freaking out Hooty. Belos is planning something big ,I think he's working with someone, I still don't know what the Eye is and I'm weaker than a newborn witchling. If I'm gonna protect you guys I need to train as hard as I can to get strong. No rest!
Hooty: But everytime you overwork yourself you turn into the owl beast.
Eda: I said no rest!
Eda takes out an airhorn and blows it, keeping her up and bothering Luz who was with the echomouse.
Luz: Can you please be quiet? You're scaring the echomouse. If he's not happy I'll never make my way into Amity's heart. ( blushes) I mean make a portal back home. Uh, we have to go.
flashback ends.
Lilith: That's right I remember. I kept Edalyn to get some sleep, but she won't listen to me.
Christa: And lately at school, Luz and Amity have been kinda nervous seeing each other. Then again Amity her feelings for Luz. Okay alright, Hoot Hoot we'll help you get started on how you want to help them. The rest will be up to you.
Hooty: Thanks guys. Let me go get my plans set. Hoot, Hoot!
Hooty leaves the room.
Christa: Hope this will help him.
Lilith: I'm sure it will and the others too. Did you have something else to help him with. Maybe for you.
Christa: Well, I don't think he could help mine, I already asked everyone about the Unknown Isles but nothing.
Lilith: I wished I knew more about this Unknown Isles. I can't believe I never read about it, but the Golden Guard did. He always got special treatment. But I'll try and keep doing more research.
Christa: Really appreciate it Lilith. Is there something you want Hooty to help you with?
Lilith looked away and frowned a bit.
Lilith: Well, more of a regret than a problem, but I don't think anyone can help me with. ( shakes her head) But it doesn't matter. We should go help him now.
Later that day.
With King
Hooty saw King in the kitchen with a pile of books of demons, hoping to find out more about what he is.
King: Maybe if I knew what kind of demon I was, I could figure out what's going on. But nothing in here looks like me.
King was growing up and he had questions, and Hooty being the only other demon in this house had answers ( atleast he thinks). But would he accept help from him? Never...unless.
Hooty towered over King as he saw his shadow covering his books.
King: Hooty would you move out of the way? I'm trying to read here! Hooty?
Hooty's eyes glowed and opend his mouth wide as he was about to swallow King.
King: WEH!
Five minutes later
King was in a dark room as he broke free from Hooty's owl pellat.
King: UGH! Did you just owl pellet me?
Hooty: Are you angry? Sweaty? Is there hair in places? Does your voice crack in a super embarrassing way? I have the answers you seek!
The lights turns on and Hooty has brought King to the tower, where he's set up diagrams, charts and boards for "Demon Puberty 101.5".
Hooty: You're going through demon puberty!
King: (facepalms) UGH! The last thing I want from you is a health class!
Hooty: This isn't a health class!
Hooty pulls down a chart of demon traits titled "Who Am I?"
Hooty: It's an unholy test, to determine what kind of demon you are!
King: (hopeful) Really?!
Hooty: Yup! Besides, I'm pretty sure I'm the only other demon here, so ha ha, what other choice do you have?
King: Eh… all right. What the heck.
Hooty: YAAAAY!
Hooty puts on a beret/mortarboard and begins the lesson.
Hooty: Our ancestors arose from the muck of a decomposing titan. And there are so many of us! But all demons can be placed in three categories; bug, biped, and beast!
King: Yeah okay, everyone knows about the three Bs.
Hooty: (gets in King's face) DO NOT INTERRUPT! (slinks back to the board) Now I'm pretty sure you're not a bug, but we can't rule anything out. As a type of worm myself-
Hooty wiggles, causing King to give off a disgusted shudder.
Hooty: I'm an expert on this subject! LET'S BEGIN!
Hooty has King put on some dancing clothes with King looking annoyed.
Hooty: Bug types naturally communicate through dance, like so!
A fairy and a two-faced butterfly enter the room and give them a brief demo.
Hooty: (sniffling while crying) Poetic!
King makes various grunting noises while freestyle dancing. When he stops, Hooty is shown mouth agape, then starts to hiss in rage.
Hooty: YOU INSULT MY MOTHER?!
King: What?
King screams as Hooty chases him.
A few minutes later.
Hooty has calmed down and King is panting.
Hooty: Well your dance was offensive, and your attempt to spin a cocoon was just… sad. Honestly.
King: Can we just not talk about the cacoon? Please?
Hooty: Okay! Let's see if you're a biped demon! They walk on two legs and even have bile sacs, just like witches! So for this test, you're gonna have a duel with a little friend of mine.
Hooty taps the top of a box, and out comes Tiny Nose playing on a game console.
Tiny Nose: Oh, hey there.
King: A scuffle, eh? All right, all right, let's do it. Just uh… don't get mad if you can't-
Hooty rings the bell and Tiny Nose lets out a battle cry, followed by grunting noises as she uses magic to attack King all while he screams again as a blast of smoke is shown erupting from a window.
Five minutes later.
King was sitting down as he was tired out and coughing from that blast.
Hooty: Wow, not a single spell. Even bug demons have some magic.
King: It-it's fine! It's fine. Let's just keep going.
Hooty: Okay, okay. There's only one way to test for beast types.
Tiny Nose appears with a surgical mask and holding a rather large needle.
Hooty: I'm gonna need a blood sample.
Tiny Nose: I gwaduated fwom medical school.
King: Wheh? Oh no. Na ha. Nope I am not doing this.
Hooty: Come on.
King: No, I change my mind.
King tries to leave, but Hooty wraps him up.
Hooty: But we've come so far, we can't stop now.
King: But I hate needles! They're scary!
Hooty: Don't worry, it won't hurt at all. Just look away and count to ten.
King: ( takes deep breathe) Okay alright. One, two, three, four...
POKE!
King: WAAAAAAAAH!
A little while later.
King was in the room, all dark and the only thing he can see are Hooty's glowing eyes.
Hooty: After reviewing the results, we've come to a conclusion.
King: Lay it on me. Beast, bug, biped, I don't care. I just want to know what I am!
Hooty: You…
King looked excited as he was about to find out what he is, but then the room lights up as there were party decorations all around and Hooty had a party hat on while Tiny Nose was holding a cake that looked like King's head.
Hooty: Are you!
Tiny Nose: Hooway!
Hooty places a party hat on King's head as he just stood there confused.
King: Wheh?
Hooty: The blood tests were inconclusive. We don't really know what you are. But that's okay! 'Cause we don't need to know that to be your friends!
King: I... I thought you had real answers.
Hooty: The only real answer is inside your heart!
Hooty nuzzles King only for the demon to push him off.
King: I don't need you to tell me to love myself Hooty. I want to know where I came from. What my Dad looked like. What I'll look like when I grow up. I don't have any responses to my video yet, or my wanted posters. Maybe my Dad is gone, maybe there's no one else like me, and I'll live my whole life without any answers!
Hooty: NO! I didn't want to make you mad.
King went from looking sad, to angry to the verge of crying.
King: Well I am mad, at him, for not being here! (sniffles as a few tears fall) He left me... ALONE!
Upon saying that, he emits a soundwave that blows up all the balloons and the cake as it disperses. King is panting hard before he notices the damaged decorations.
King: Huh?
Hooty: (downhearted) Oh no. Now I'm sad, too.
Tiny Nose: At least the cake is good.
Hooty: IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A CRUMBLE!
Hooty backs out of the window.
King: Hooty? Hooty wait!
But Hooty was already gone as King looked around the damaged room.
King: Did...did I really just do that? What was that?
In the kitchen, Hooty met back with Lilith and Christa who looked like they were gathering ingredients and kitchen appliances.
Hooty: And he got really upset. I only made him feel worse.
Lilith: Don't be discouraged Hootsifer. I'm sure you did the best you could, King just needs some time alone to cool off.
Christa: He is going through a lot. I know how he feels. But I'm sure he appreciates what you were trying to do.
Hooty: I doubt that.
Lilith: Look you can try again later with him. Right now it's Edalyn's turn.
Christa: She's been so stressed latley and how can she get stronger if she's tired?
Hooty: Right, so did you guys get what I requested?
Lilith: It's all here Hootsifer. We're gonna go look over the plans you had for Luz. Just remember to use the exact amount on the ingredients.
Hooty: Don't worry I got it.
Lilith and Christa leaves the kitchen
Hooty: Okay let's get started.
Hooty looked at the cook book and added the ingredients for the cookies and started mixing them.
Hooty: Okay what's next. And now for a pinch of sleeping nettles.
Hooty gets the jar of sleepin nettles ready.
Hooty: Hmmm, I know it says a pinch, but I really want Eda to get some rest. So I should put a lot!
Hooty pours the whole thing in the batter and mixes. He places the cookie dough in a tray and puts in the oven.
Hooty: Oh boy! I can't to see how grateful Eda will be! Hoot, Hoot!
With Eda.
Eda was walking through the halls.
Eda: Sleep? Ha never! Not until I can call myself the most powerful witch in the boiling isles once again.
She then stumbles upon a plate of milk and cookies with faces of Hooty on them. Next to them she finds a note and reads it.
Eda: A reward for all your hard work. Love, Hooty? Hm, not a bad idea. I could use the fuel.
Eda takes a cookie and bites into it. But then she notices something odd about it. Purple sparkles from it.
Eda: Sleeping nettles?
Suddenly Hooty appears from the ground.
Hooty: Yup! One bite will put you to sleep for hours.
Eda: Hooty how much did you put in here?
Hooty: Uh I don't know. A lot.
Eda: What? Sleeping nettles don't just put you to sleep. They highten you dreams. Do you realize who you just stuck me with?
But then the hall turned dark as she heard a faint growling noise. It was the growls of the Owl Beast.
Eda: Hooty, don't let me fall asleep. Hooty?
But when Eda turned around, Hooty was gone. Without realizing she did fall asleep and was dreaming. But it was more of a nightmare as she heard the Owl Beast coming.
Eda: You know, maybe this is an opportunity. The Owl Beast is the reason why I ran away from home. The Owl Beast is the reason I never got close to anyone and the reason I couldn't be with Archimedes all these years and...
But then she felt it pass by her. Though she couldn't see it since it was so dark and saw it go through an opening in the hall.
Eda: Is why I don't have magic.
The Owl Beast appeared in front of her and growled.
Eda: You've haunted me long enough, bird brain. I think it's time for me to haunt you.
The moment Eda took a step, the hall changed into her old bedroom from her old home.
Eda: Huh?
She looked in a mirror and saw she was a teenager again.
Teen Eda: Huh. Well, this is a development.
Then she heard her mom calling for her from downstairs.
Gwendolyn: Edalyn, come down stairs please.
She went downstairs and saw her mom setting up the table and Lilith ( also a teenager) sitting and making something with her napkin.
Teen Lilith: Mother do you like my napkin folding?
Lilith showed her mom the oragomi swan napkin.
Gwendolyn: Oh that's nice Seet Flea. Edalyn help us set up, won't you?
Teen Eda: Sorry dream mom. I don't have time for... whatever this is. I'm on a mission.
Gwendolyn: Ha, ha. You're going to say that, the night your dad leaves for the mandible?
Teen Eda: Dad?
Then entering through the front door was Eda's dad, Dell. He wore a tattered dark teal jacket with a hood, teardrop-shaped silver clasp, and lighter cuffs, with a dark gray-and-black shirt underneath, a brown strap around his left shoulder and waist, dark brown pants, and warm gray shoes with darker cuffs, toes, and soles. He had golden eyes, orange hair in a ponytail and orange beard.
Dell: Hey Pumpkin! Here to see me off?
Eda's eyes widened seeing her dad. She hasn't seen him in forever. She ran up hugging him.
Teen Eda: Dad! It's so good to see you again.
Dell: I was only gone an hour. Hey, I know I won't be home for a while. So that's why tonight...
He takes out a party popper.
Teen Eda: Wait, I remember this now.
Dell: I'll be leaving in style!
Dell sets off a party popper with purple lights. Eda gasps as the lights trigger her to transform. But she wasn't transformed, but the Owl Beast was there and watched as her father holds the beast back as it tried to attack him.
Teen Eda: No, I won't let you ruin this again!
Eda ran up to the Owl Beast and grabbed hold of it and threw it out of the house. The moment she did, she was back to her adult self again. She turned back and saw her teenage self on the floor, reverting back to normal and her father, who got up covering his eye as blood was dripping from it.
Gwendolyn: Dell! Lilith, call the Healing Coven, now!
Eda: Dad...
Then the room crumbled and disappeard as well as everyone there, except for Eda of course who was now just standing there in a black void.
Eda: It wasn't your fault.
The Owl Beast appeared behind her as the area now turned into a a forest.
Eda: It was yours.
The Owl Beast stepped back, looking like it was growling at her.
Eda: What you scared? You should be, cause I got you now.
Archimedes: Eda it's me.
Eda gasped and turned around behind her. It was Archimedes, but younger.
Eda: Archimedes?
Teen Archimedes: It's me. It's Archimedes. I'm your friend remember?
Eda: I know what this is.
Teen Archimedes: Don't you recognize me? I'm not going to hurt you.
Archimedes slowly approached the Owl Beast.
Eda: Archy don't! Get away from it!
Eda ran over to grab and save him. But this time she couldn't touch him. She just fazed right through him as if she was just a ghost.
Eda: Archy stop! That's not me!
Teen Archimedes: Eda you're scared. I don't know what happened back there, but everythings going to be okay. I'm here for you Eda.
The next part was the worse. Eda couldn't save him and so she turned around looked away at the next scene of the Owl Beast brutally attacking Archimedes. But it didn't help much as his screams of agony were still impactful.
Eda: Stop...STOP!
Eda's yell changed the scenory again. She was in a hospital room standing before her was her teen self standing over a comatose Archimedes, lying on a bed, his body heavily bandaged and an oxygen mask over his mouth. She remembered this scene now, it was her goodbye to Archimedes and the last time she saw him for a while until years later when he gave her the elixer.
Eda: ( teared up) Archy...
Teen Eda: Archy, can you hear me? I don't know if you can hear me.
Teen Eda placed her hand over his face.
Teen Eda: I'm so sorry for what I've done to you. I have no idea what happened and I swear I couldn't control myself. Oh what am I saying, it's still my fault your like this. Archy because I'm dealing with a lot right now with this curse, I'm going away for a while. But I want you to know that I'm doing this for your saftey. You're probably better off without me. Seeing you like really scares me and I just hope you wake up and please don't die. You may not like me anymore, but...I will always love you.
Teen Eda placed a kiss on his cheek.
Teen Eda: ( teared up) Goodbye Archy.
Teen Eda activated the portal door and went in. Eda stepped towards him, she wiped the tears off her eyes as this was a painful memory for her. Then she heard a growl from behind. The Owl Beast was behind her.
Eda: You, you did this Arcimedes. You nearly killed him! You hurt him, so I'm gonna hurt you!
Eda was about to punch it, until suddenly the scenory changed again and in front of her was Raine Whispers.
Raine: Eda, I-
Then they see Eda about to punch them.
Raine: Whoa! What are you doing?
Eda realized Raine was there and stops her punch. She also realized she was a young adult again. At the time she was dating Raine.
Young Eda: Raine! Uh, nothing. I'm fine. ( nervous laughing)
Raine: You're lying again. It's like I dont really know you. So I've made a decision.
Young Eda got up and turned around, talking to herself.
Young Eda: Okay, okay. I know how this plays out. I hope I'll be ready this time. You hear me bird brain?!
Raine: I'm joining the Bard Coven and...
Young Eda: No, no, no. I hate this part.
Raine: I think we should see other people. I'm sorry Eda. It's over.
Young Eda then felt her arms transforming. She looked down and saw claws and feathers growing and her eyes turned black.
Raine: Are you okay? Is this the curse?
Young Eda struggled to avoid them and the transformation as her present self appeared in front of her, grabbing her past self's shoulders.
Eda: Just tell them. Let them help.
Young Eda: Uh it's fine. Everything's normal. You can leave now.
Raine saddened looked away.
Raine: I can't do this anymore.
After that, Raine fades away.
Eda: Stop pushing them away.
But her young self fully transformed into the Owl Beast once again.
Eda: ( angrily) You!
The Owl Beast jumps back ready to attack.
Eda: It was always you!
Eda jumps at the Owl Beast as it struggled to shake her off.
Eda: It was all your fault.
The Owl Beast grabs Eda throws her off. The two of them charge at each other as Eda grabs it's head.
Eda: STOP. RUINING. MY. LIFE!
Eda tries to headbutt the owl beast, only for it to disappear and her surroundings to turn black as she becomes the beast. She was standing near a cliff when suddenly purple light flares hit the ground in front of it and is captured within a net. A mysterious figure appears from behind the net, with a cloak that is gray with black suns on one side and black with gray moons and white stars on the other side.
Hooded figure: Don't bother beast. You can't run away anymore. It's over.
The figure laughed as Eda managed to break free and flew, but was tiring out and fell into the boiling sea. Eda, now back to normal was washed up on the beach. She sat there for a moment and then saw the Owl Beast, now small about the size of a house pet like a cat or small dog trying to fly away, but couldn't and kept falling into the water. She saw it's leg was tied up to some red rope. She looked down and saw her leg had a red rope on it too, showing that she was holding it back. The Owl Beast fell again and gave up flying. It made it's way to shore all tired out as Eda approached it. Her hateful and resented look for the creature was gone and now looked like she felt bad for it.
Eda: Hey it's okay.
Eda kneeled down and petted it. They noticed a yellow glow from the ocean. It was now her elixer and one of her bottles washed up to to her.
Eda: You know I thought these things were a way to fight you but, I think they're the reason we can stand here face to face. Listen neither of us want to be here, but we are and I don't think there's anyway changing that. If we can't accept each other this nightmare may never end.
Eda poured some of the elixer into her hand and offered it to the Owl Beast.
Eda: So what do you say? Truce, for now?
The Owl Beast approached her hand and started licking it. It tickled Eda's hand, it felt like sand paper. The Owl Beast crawled onto her lap and rested as Eda held onto it. The sky then turned at what looked like an aurora borealis
Eda: Wow, I never had a dream this pretty.
Soon the area was fading away as the two faded with it and dream ends.
Eda wakes up in hall.
Eda: AH! Oh my head.
She notices her arms have changed.
Eda: Huh? Oh geez did I turn again?
Eda got up and was about to head to her room to get an elixer, but then stopped and gasped when she saw herself in a mirror. She was transformed but not into the Owl Beast. She was like a harpy woman now. Her body had red feathers but looking like her clothes. She had orange claw like finger nails, a huge wing span, she was much taller now, maybe taller than Archimedes or Belos combined and her eyes were black but with gold irises. Eda was shocked but amazed to see this.
Eda: Whoa.
But then she saw Hooty looking upset.
Hooty: Oh no! I made it worse. I made it worse!
Eda: Hooty wait, it's okay.
But Hooty didn't listen as he went away crying.
Eda: Hooty!
Eda was going to go after him, but then stopped to look at herself in the mirror again.
Eda: (whistles) Oh girl, I am one sexy mama. Archy's gonna love this.
Later
After calming down, Hooty, Christa and Lilith exited out of the basement.
Lilith: Okay, I think it's finally done. Oh this is going to be so cute.
Hooty: Yeah this has to work. This the most perfect plan ever. Nothing can mess this up.
Christa: This is it. Today's the day Luz finally confesses her love for Amity. So Hoot Hoot, do you remember the song I told you should sing?
Hooty: Oh yeah I got it all in my head. Hoot, hoot!
Christa: Good, now all we need is Amity.
Hooty: Oh don't worry. She's already here.
Lilith: She is?
Christa: When? I didn't see her come in.
Hooty: Oh uh, you weren't there.
Christa: Right. Okay then I guess I'll go get Luz. Place's everyone.
With Luz.
Luz was in her room with the Echomouse, still torn with trying to find out how to make a portal home and to tell Amity how she feel.
Luz: Come on little mouse. If you don't want to tell me about Philip or how he made his portal, maybe you can tell me how to ask out a Cotton Candy haired Goddess? I mean Amity is smart, cool and classy. And just pretty, no beautiful! Asking her out should be breathtaking, emotional, real! Everyone back home said I was cheesy. I can't let Amity think the same.
Christa enters the room looking excited.
Christa: Oh Luuuuuuz.
Luz: Yeah Christa.
Christa: Um, I uh...I have something in the basement that I need help carrying up, but it's too heavy and I need some help.
Luz: Oh yeah sure. Wait we have a basement?
The two open the door the basement as Luz holds out a light glyph as she went down the stairs. Once she was their she see's a shadow that looks like Amity.
Luz: Amity?!
But looking closer it was just the shadow of a lamp shade.
Luz: Oh yeah, silly me. Why would Amity be in our basement. Right Christa?
But then she heard the door slam and turned and saw Christa wasn't there anymore. It looked like she ran off and left Luz in the basement.
Luz: Christa?! Where are you going?
But then Luz heard something move and a muffled noise. She looked at the ground and saw a large owl pellet moving. It then splits open and out comes Amity, gasping for air.
Luz: AMITY!?
Amity: Luz? Where are we?
Luz: Uh, our basement. Christa needed me to get something and...what are you doing here?
Amity: I don't know. I was in my room, minding my buisness, when Hooty suddenly broke through my window and swallowed me.
Amity then looked mad.
Amity: The moment I find that bird tube, I am going to destroy him for real this time.
Luz: I'm so sorry. I don't know what came over Hooty. Let me get you out of here.
But then a trap door opened up and the two fell down. They soon landed on a pile of pillows. Luz opens her eyes and see's they were romantic, Valentine's day pillows. Luz freaked out as she took a fire glyph and incenerated one fo the pillows next to her so Amity wouldn't notice, but did get startled by it.
Amity: AAH! What?
Luz: Uh, nothing I thought I saw a spider.
But then a card from above fell on Luz as she reads it.
Luz: To return to the world above, make your way through the tunnel of...( gasps)
The lights turn on and reveals to them a tunnel of love with a swan boat with Hooty's face.
Luz: ( whispers) If Amity see's this, she'll think I'm such a loser.
Amity: What is this?
The Hooty boat stretches it's neck and wraps itself around the girls and places them on the boat as it began to move.
Luz: Hooty!
They go through the tunnel of love as they see all sorts of decorations, attractions and romantic things all over and signs that would compliment Amity. Then they heard Hooty's voice through the speakers.
Hooty: Hellooooo love birds. This next song I bring is from the Disney classic The Little Mermaid.
Luz: Oh no.
Amity: What's that?
Hooty began to cough, rather loudly to clear is throat.
( queue Kiss the Girl)
Then he played instrumental version of the song as he began to sang.
Hooty: There you see her
Sitting there across the way
She don't got a lot to say
But there's something about her
And you don't know why
But you're dying to try
You wanna kiss the girl
Luz then covered her face in embarresment as Amity blushed a little.
Hooty: Yes, you want her
Look at her, you know you do
Possible she wants you, too
There is one way to ask her

Luz continued to cover her face, now putting on her hood and stretching the strings to hide her face. As for Amity, despite the cheesiness all around, she was kinda liking it. Was this Luz trying to tell her how she felt. Her face turned red and thought this was all romantic. All the attractions, the signs saying how smart, cool and classy and beautiful she is and the song was really nice.
Hooty: Now's your moment
Floating in a blue lagoon

Luz: Oh no, I'm gonna be made fun of again.
Amity: Um, did you say something?
Luz saw a sign behind Amity of two bees holding a heart sign saying " Amity will you bee mine?" Luz jumped off the boat and destroyed it. She began to use what glyphs she had and started destroying the tunnel of love and speakers that were still playing the song. Amity however began to frown. It was her worse nightmare coming true, she was being rejected.
Once they made it the end, Amity got off the boat sad as Luz got out of the water.
Luz: That was a nightmare.
Amity: ( sad) Yeah, it was. I'll get out of your hair.
Luz: Amity wait, this wasn't me. It was all Hooty's stupid idea.
Amity: Yeah it is stupid. Us dating? That's stupid right?
Luz gasped realizing she made Amity feel rejected, but then Hooty appeared all upset.
Hooty: NO! I did it again!
Hooty began to breakdown as tears flowed crazy out of his eyes and returned back to the front door of the house.
Hooty: I can't help anyone! I'm a failure!
Hooty began to try and break out of the door.
Hooty: Out! Out vile Owl! HOOHOOHOOT!
Hooty's struggle and breakdown was shaking the whole house and got everyone's attention. King was still in the tower looking down at him.
King: Hooty! Calm down you ding dong.
Hooty: NEVER SHALL I CURSE THIS HOME WITH MY ODIOUS PRESENCE AGAIN!
Hooty's constant rumble caused King to fall off the tower and hang from the windowsill.
Hooty: Look's like I'll have to do this, the hard way.
Hooty forces himself out of the door like he did once and dug into the ground like an earthworm and shook the house from underneath. Eda from the inside the house saw King hanging from the tower. He was about to fall until she flew up and caught him.
Eda: Whoa, gotcha.
King: Wait, Eda?
Eda: Don't worry. I think it's a good thing.
As this is happening Lilith and Christa come outside to see what's wrong.
Lilith: Hootsifer?! Hootsifer where are you?
Christa: Lilith, I think the last plan ended horribly and he's not taking it well.
Lilith: I believe so.
They saw Luz and Amity exit from the other side of the house from the basement.
Amity: What's going on?
Luz: I don't know but things always get weird when Hooty's upset.
The house continued to shake and saw a piece of the tower, ready to fall off.
Christa: Luz! Amity look out!
Christa saw this and tried to run and save them, but she was too far away from them. King also saw and tried to call out.
King: Luz, Luz! Run!
But then the giant piece of the tower rubble began to fall as Luz and Amity took cover.
King: NOOOO!
King's yell made another energy wave, which reduced the rubble to dust. Eda and King landed down to meet with them as Christa and Lilith caught up.
Christa: Are you guys alright?
Luz: We're fine. King did you just do that?
King: Yeah I think I did. Guys I think I have a power. Cool!
Lilith saw Eda in her harpy form and couldn't believe it was her.
Lilith: Edalyn, is that you?
Eda: Yup. You jelly Lily?
Lilith: Oh stop it.
Luz: Okay so what's Hooty's deal? He's shaking the place up.
Christa: He was just trying to help with your problems.
Lilith: We wanted to show him that he's just as important as the rest of us. But it looks like he's not accomplishing much.
Eda: Well I wouldn't say that.
Hooty bursts out of the ground still crying like crazy.
Hooty: I'm a failure. A failure in life!
Eda: No, no Hooty. You actually weirdly helped me. I'm like a harpy woman now.
King: And I can explode things with my voice powers!
Hooty: But I still failed Luz!
Eda: Luz, what was Hooty trying to do?
King: Quick! Just pretend he helped you before he destroys everything.
Luz looked back at Amity who at the moment was too busy looking at Hooty. Luz went closer to Eda and King to talk to them quietly.
Luz: He was trying to help me ask Amity out.
Eda: Oh whoa. Do you wanna?
Luz nods with a blush.
Eda: Then what are you waiting for? Do it
Luz: Like this?
Luz motioned to Hooty rolling around in the ground crying.
Eda: Yeah I see your point.
Christa: Don't worry, we'll try and keep him calm and you just tell her.
Christa, Lilith, Eda and King ran over to Hooty and grabbed hold of him.
Christa: Hoot Hoot! Hoot Hoot you need to calm down.
Hooty: But I'm a failure!
Lilith: You haven't failed anything Hootsifer, look!
We cut to Luz and Amity alone. This was it. This was her chance to ask out Amity and she was so scared.
Luz: Amity.
Amity: Yeah Luz.
Luz: Listen um, I've been meaning to ask you something for a while. Ever since I came here, I've met some great people and you're one of them. Okay maybe the best one. Amity you're literally the coolest, smartest, prettiest and one of the strongest witches I know and I'm glad to be your friend. But I've been meaning to ask you something but I wanted to do it in the best way and in the tunnel of love I thought, Amity was too cool for it.
Amity smiled at her and blushed.
Amity: Luz, I know we had a bad start when you first came, but you really grew on me somehow. I guess it's just your personallity and how thoughtful and sweet you are. I'm sorry how cold I was to you when you just wanted to get to know me. The real me. To be honest, I'm really not as cool as you think.
Luz: Okay, everything is so crazy right now and I don't know what my future holds but it would be so cool if you were in it. So...
Now this was really it. Luz took a deep breath and was about to ask her out, until Amity asked first.
Amity: Do you want to go out with me?!
Luz: ( exhales) No I was so ready.
Amity: I'm sorry, I'm sorry you can say it.
Luz: Alright. Amity Blight, do you want to go out with me?
Amity: Yes!
Luz: Okay!
That was it. The two were now officially dating. Not knowing what else to do, they just held hands but still felt a bit nervous.
Luz: Why is this so scary?
Amity: I don't know.
Everyone else saw and Hooty has calmed down as he was now crying tears of joy.
Christa: Aw I'm so happy for them.
King: Yeah, but now they're gonna bring nothing but love and fluff in the house.
Lilith: I told you did good Hootsifer.
Eda: Dang Hooty, you really are something.
Later that night.
The day has finally come to an end. King may not know where he came from, but he's learning more about himself everyday. Eda can become Harpy Eda now. Though she still drinks her elixir, she has accepted the Owl Beast as part of her. And Luz's new girlfriend Amity showed her tips on how to get more info on the diary from the echomouse. Everyone was now in bed as slept. But Christa kept turning and moaning in her sleep. She was having another nightmare until finally she woke up screaming.
Christa: AAAAAAH!
Hooty heard her scream and rushed up through the window to see her.
Hooty: CC what is it?
He saw her sitting up and she breathed heavily. Her scream woke up Luz.
Luz: Christa, you okay?
Hooty: I got this one Luz.
Luz: Are you good with that Christa?
Christa: Yeah I am. Go back to sleep Luz.
As Luz fell back to sleep as Hooty wrapped himself around Christa and took her outside as the two sat next to each other at the front door.
Christa: I'm sorry Hoot Hoot. I didn't mean to wake you up.
Hooty: Oh don't worry. I couldn't sleep. I guess because I accomplished so much today I'm still trying to get over it.
Christa: You really did good today, you know that?
Hooty: Yeah. Okay maybe I was a little over dramatic but alls well it ends well right?
Christa: Yeah sure.
Hooty: So CC what's wrong? Did you have a bad dream?
Christa: ( frowns) Well...yeah. Every other night I always dream of another place that doesn't look like here or the Boiling Isles and then it always ends with either me being forcfully trapped in the pod or attacked by a mysterious dark figure.
Hooty: Oh that is scary.
Christa: I think it's part of my past, but I can't tell what's a memory or what's a hazy dream.
Hooty: Oh I'm sorry you always have trouble sleeping. I'd help you sleep better, but I don't think I want to use sleeping nettles on you after seeing what it did to Eda.
Christa: Yeah please don't. Hooty, you know the isles well right?
Hooty: I don't get out much, you know being in a door. Hoot. But I know some history. What do you want to know?
Christa: Do you know anything about a place called the Unknown Isles.
Hooty: The Unknown Isles? Unknown Isles uuuuh...hmmmm. Nope doens't ring a bell. ( gasps) It doesn't ring a bell. I don't know! I FAILED...
Christa: Hey, hey, shhhh...
Christa grabbed hold of Hooty's head. She pet his head until he calmed down and lets go.
Christa: Don't freak out, you'll wake everyone else up.
Hooty: But I don't know anything.
Christa: It's okay Hoot Hoot. No one knows about this. I asked Luz, King, Eda, Lilith and my friends at school. They don't know. I haven't asked Archimedes yet, but I feel like I don't want to add more to his plate with his research. This is probably something I have to figure out on my own. Just because you don't know doesn't mean you failed.
Hooty: But I want to help you CC. But I don't know how.
Christa: I know how you can help.
Hooty: How?
Christa: Just be my friend. Be the friend who tries to cheer me up when I'm sad, talk to me when I'm upset and just spend time with me. Just be there and support me. I want to find my home and my time here would be worse if I didn't have you guys. Especially you. Can you do that for me?
Hooty: Oh yeah I can do that. If your ever sad or scared CC, just come to me okay. Your old pal Hooty is there for you.
Christa: Thanks Hoot Hoot. You're so sweet.
Christa held him close to her and kissed him on his head.
Hooty: ( blushes) Ha, ha! Aw, shucks.
We cut to one last scene of Christa back in her room sleeping peacfully and under her arms was Hooty sleeping with her.

Author's Note: That's it for this chapter. Sorry this took a while. Just been with some family lately, got some cool things for Christmas I've been looking at and was trying to continue work on my SU movie story. I will try to go back and forth with each story. I know there wasn't much difference or new scenes with King's segment, but I really didn't know what else I can do with him. I'm still working on his arc with that other demon and one chapter being a Clawthorne family reunion, so I can bring Eda's dad in this. Also I can't believe I forgot about Tiny Nose.
