Chapter 28: Making the New Portal
Luz was gathering her notes about making a new portal from Phillip's journal. She makes her own book out of it and set the notes in the right order.
Luz: Okay, it's all set. Christa you ready?
Christa: I am.
Matti: Where you kids off too?
Luz: We're going to Alex's place. Since he said he's learning about construction, he said he can help if I show him the notes.
Eda: Oh how sweet of Al to help. And I thought he was just a grumpy kid.
Christa: Nah he's pretty nice when you get to know him.
Luz: Well before we go to him, I wanted to get Willow and Gus for this as well. I'd get Amity too, but she's currently settling in at her Aunt's place and want to give her some time alone.
Eda: You anxious to get back.
Luz: Yeah, I have since I destroyed the old one.
Matti: Your mom misses you I'm sure.
Luz: She must be scared about me missing. I need to see her and tell her I'm okay an I can't wait to see her. Okay be back.
Christa: Later guys.
Christa got her staff as the two ran outside and bumped into Seraphina who was approaching the house.
Seraphina: Oh, careful there.
Christa: Oh, hey Seraphina. Sorry.
Seraphina: It's alright. You two seem to be in a hurry.
Luz: Yeah we're going to start building the portal. We'll see you later.
Seraphina: Take care you two.
Luz sat behind Christa on her staff and flew off. Seraphina watched them fly away with a smile and continued to the house.
Seraphina: Hello?
Eda: He-Hey Sera, how you been?
Matti: Seraphina!
Matti got up and the two hugged each other.
Matti: I haven't seen you in years. I missed you.
Seraphina: Aw Matti, I missed you as well. Is Lilith here? She called me over.
Eda: Yeah she should be down soon.
Lilith: Is that Seraphina I heard.
Lilith was coming downstairs with a new look. She wore glasses again and her hair was shown to be fluffy at the end. She now wore an aquagreen blouse with short puffy sleeves and a golden button, a brown vest, a long reddish purple skirt, light orchid pantyhose and a peru brown v front ankle boots.
Lilith: Hi Seraphina.
Seraphina: Lilith, you look different.
Lilith: Oh well, things have been changing and well I just thought I'd try a new look. Um I know I probably looked cooler without the glasses.
Seraphina: No, I love it. ( places her hand on her cheek) Besides you always looked prettier with glasses on.
Seraphina kisses her on the cheek making Lilith blush.
Hooty: Hello! You must be Seraphina. Lulu's new gf that she told me all about!
Lilith: Seraphina this is my good friend Hooty. He's really been keeping me company since I moved in.
Seraphina: ( petting him) It's nice to meet you Hooty. You must be head of the house.
Hooty: Eh not really, but that's fine. I just like to be acknowledged. Hoot! Hoot!
Lilith: So Seraphina, I called you because I really need your help on something. You think you can help me make a scrying potion.
Seraphina: You want to spy on someone do you? But yes, I can help. Just so I can see your beautiful face.
Lilith: ( blushes) Oh ho stop.
Meanwhile.
Luz, Christa, Willow and Gus arrive at Alex's house.
Christa: This is Alex's house?
Luz: It's the address he gave me. Looks very nice.
They rang the doorbell and in seconds, his dad Thorin opens the door.
Thorin: Hey yo, who rang that bell?
The group: We did.
Thorin: Can't you kids read the sign?
Christa: What sign?
Thorin: The sign on the door it says...
But Thorin notices there is no sign on the door.
Thorin: ( groans) I thought I told that boy to put the sign.
He puts it up and shuts the door as they read it out loud.
Group: Doorbell out of order. Please knock?
Gus: It sounded fine to me.
Willow: I don't know let's just go with it.
Willow knocks on the door and Thorin opens up.
Thorin: Well that's more like it. Now can I help you kids?
Luz: Hi Mr. Stonefist. We're friends of your son Alex. I wanted to go over a project with him.
Thorin: Oh why didn't you say so? Come on in.
Thorin invites them in as they saw the living room.
Thorin: Take a seat, make yourself comfortable. Hey baby! We got guests!
Olivia enters the living room.
Olivia: You don't need to shout hon. Oh hello, you must be Alexander's new friends.
Christa: We are, this is a really nice place you got here.
Thorin: Thank you. Built it myself actually with these two hands. Hey you kids wanna see something cool. ( points at Gus) You there, hit me with that chair.
Gus: Uh, what?
Thorin: You heard me, hit me with that chair.
Olivia: Thorin please...
Gus: I don't think I want to do that.
Thorin: Come on. Be a man and do it.
Gus looking unsure just did what he said. He picked up the chair and hits Thorin on the back with it. It broke into pieces but he didn't look hurt and fazed.
Group: Whoa.
Thorin: Yeah, whoa. You can drop an anvil on me and I wouldn't get crushed.
Olivia: Hon, that was a new chair that we got last week.
Thorin: Don't worry Olivia, I'll fix it. Make it look good as new. I never get to show people this since we don't get many visitors here. It's nice to see that my boys making new friends for a change. Oh I didn't get your names.
Luz: Well I'm Luz.
Christa: I'm Christa.
Gus: Gus is my name.
Willow: And I'm Willow.
Thorin: Willow? Ah, ha, ha. So your Willow. Alex talks a lot about you.
Willow: ( blushes) Oh really?
Thorin: Yeah. He said you the first person he met at school, you saved him from getting eaten by a killer plant, he saved you from being humilated and always says how pretty...
But then Alex enters and punches his dad across the face ( in a comedic way) and sends him flying into the wall.
Alex: Pretty cool. Yeah I said you pretty cool, thank you very much dad.
Thorin: ( thumbs up) Oh... no problem son.
Alex: So then. Hey guys, glad could come. Luz I see you're doing much better, after yesterday with uh...well...you know...
Luz: Yeah I'm good now. Anyway, I wanted to show you what I got with the portal.
Alex: Right, well let's go to my room. You can tell me more there.
Alex lead them upstairs to his room.
Olivia: I'll get some snacks and refreshments ready for you and your friends.
Alex: ( sharply) Whatever Olivia.
Luz and the others frowned a bit after hearing Alex's tone and looked back and saw the frown on Olivia's face. But they continued to follow him to his room.
Alex: Well here's my headquarters.
The entered his room and looked around. He had a desk as his work station with tools, miniature houses and wood, a bench press set and some weights, a shelf with action figures and a bed. They looked around his room.
Willow: This really nice room Alex.
Christa: I see you're really interested with miniature houses.
Alex: Yeah, it's a hobby. But you think that's cool you should see the backyard with my bigger projects.
As they looked around, Willow then noticed a framed picture on his desk. It had him and his dad along with who might be Olivia, except the face was covered with a sticker. After with what just happened, she began to realize he doesn't seem to like his mom very much. Then they sat around his bed to discuss the plans.
Alex: Alright, so tell me more about this portal.
Luz: Okay, so as you know Eda originally had a portal that could take her to the human realm and back. But then I destroyed it when Emperor Belos wanted it for his plans. Ever since then I've been trying to figure out how to make a new portal until I found out about Phillip, a human who once lived in the Demon Realm centuries ago and he originally built it. I noted down how he did it, but I'm not very skilled with this kind of stuff. Maybe you can do this.
Luz showed him the blueprints as he examined it.
Alex: Hmmm, this is quite advanced.
Luz: Oh, so you can't do it.
Alex: I never said that. I'll get some supplies and come over to your place and we can get started.
Luz: Your the best Alex.
Willow: Hey Alex, so I just wanted to say your parents seem nice.
Alex: Oh yeah, my dad's the best. He's a professional construction witch. He made me the man I am and why I want to study to be in the construction coven.
Willow: Well your mom is nice as well.
Alex: Mom? You mean Olivia? She's not my mom.
Willow: So she's your step mom?
Alex: Yeah.
Willow: What happened to your birth mom?
Alex: I don't know. When I was five she cheated on my dad and left. Most likely with another guy. I don't give a damn. Never need her, just my pop. That's all I needed until Olivia showed up.
Christa: What's wrong with her?
Alex: My dad met her five years ago and dated for a while, but then one year ago they got married and she moves in with us.
Willow: Has she done anything?
Alex: I mean I just never really cared for her. You don't just marry some one who has a kid and act like your their new parent.
Luz: She seems nice. Don't you think you're being a bit hard on her.
Alex: I don't care. She never gave birth to me. She's not a real Stonfist and not family.
Willow: That's not always true.
Alex: How do you know that?
Willow: Because I was adopted.
Everyone looks at Willow, especially Alex when she said.
Willow: When I was five or probably younger, my bio parents didn't really want me and I was dumped at an orphanage. I spent a whole year there with no real family.
Willow took out a picture of her and her dads and showed it to Alex.
Willow: That was until I was adopted by my dads. They raised me as their own and loved and cared for me. I'm grateful to have them.
Alex: I...I had no idea.
Luz: And if I may, the people I've spent time with here have grown on me as part of my family. Christa here is my sister, King and even Hooty are like my brothers and Eda is like a second mom to me.
Christa: Matti is great too and we even started calling Lilith our cool aunt.
Willow: Do you get it Alex? Family isn't always blood relatives. Sometimes it's just people who just care for you.
Alex just gazed at the picture as he tried to digest all this in. He handed it back to her.
Willow: Uh Alex?
Alex: I'm fine. I get it.
Then Olivia enters the room with a tray of snacks and drinks.
Olivia: Hey kids, I got snacks here. I'll just leave it here. Carry on with what else you were doing.
Willow looks over at Alex, letting him know this is his chance to start over.
Alex: Uh...thank you Olivia.
Olivia looked at Alex a bit surprised he said thank you to her. But she gave him a small smile and nodded.
Olivia: Your welcome.
She leaves the room as Willow looks at him with a smile and nods. He replied with a small smile and nodded back to her.
Later
The group was now at the Owl House, outside as Alex construction the portal. He was working on the interior mechanisims of it with his friends giving him a helping hand as well did Eda and King and Matti coming out with refreshments for them.
Matti: Lemon blood anyone?
Luz: You mean lemonade?
Matti: Nope.
Alex: Ah yes. Thanks Matti.
Eda: Sheesh this really is more complicated than expected. How's it going there Al?
Alex: It's getting there, this is something I've never seen before. And don't call me Al!
Eda: Hey come on, it's cool nickname.
Luz: So how long you think this will take?
Alex: Well if was just me I'd say three days, but if we all pitch in maybe I can get it done by tomorrw.
Luz: Great, I can't wait to see mama again.
Alex: Wait, I just realized. Where's that Titan blood. I want to make sure it still works even if it's dried.
Luz: Got it right here.
Luz handed him Amity's blood stained glove.
Alex: Wow, so this is Titan blood. Christa you and Amity actually took on the Golden Guard for this?
Christa: Yeah we did.
Alex: Tell me, is he really the most feared, powerful and manliest witch they say he is.
Christa: Pfft not even close. Plus I'd rather not talk about him.
Alex shrugs as he gets a pair of scissor and cuts a small tip on the glove to get a sample.
Alex: Okay, gently.
Alex placed the tip of the glove on the ground and then he had a bottle of water and put one drop on it. The dried blood started to moisturize and turned into a small black hole in the ground, about the size of a hole for golf course.
Luz: Whoa.
Christa: Look at that.
Gus: Is that a portal?
Alex: From what I read in the notes, this a black hole that could lead to any dimension if a drop of Titan blood was to cross with water. We want to make it into a portal door to specify it to go only to the human realm and back.
Christa: So where does it go?
Alex: You got me, this was just a test. It could lead to anywhere.
King: Hey what if I spit on it and see where it ends up.
Eda: Ooh, do that...whoops.
Eda accidentally knocked over the bottled water into the black hole and expanded it larger as everyone quickly stepped back.
Alex: Whoa, whoa! Everybody get back! Get back, do not fall in!
But Luz didn't react in time and she fell in screaming.
Eda, King and Christa: Luz!
Luz was falling into the void screaming, until she landed face on the ground.
Luz: Ow. Wha...What did I just...huh?
Luz realized the ground she landed on was like a glass wall or something, but to her biggest surprise she could see two other people on the other side. It was Anne Boonechoy and Sprig from Amphibia, sitting on the couch and Luz was in Anne's phone screen.
Anne: Sprig, are you ready for the all new episode of Suspicion Island?
Sprig: Yeah I am. I couldn't sleep last night because I was anxious to know what happens next! Hey who's that there?
Anne: Huh, I don't remember her from the show.
Luz: What show?
Sprig: WHAH! Anne it's alive!
Anne: Whoa that is freaky. Is my phone possessed? Sprig what do I do?
Sprig: I don't know, just talk to it.
Anne: Uh hey what's up?
Luz: Uh hi sorry. I don't mean to scare you, but are you human? Is this the human realm?
Anne: Well, I'm human as you can see. But sorry no this isn't it.
Sprig: This is Amphibia.
Luz: Oh okay. Well sorry to bother you, I'm just trying to find my way home. I'll leave now.
Anne: Wait, wait, wait! You said you're trying to get back to your world too right? So am I. Maybe you can help me out here.
But then Polly enters.
Polly: Hey guys! What's going on?
Sprig: Polly check it out! Anne found another Anne!
Anne: Look see.
Anne shows Polly Luz on her phone.
Luz: Aw, she's so cute.
But Polly just stares at her for a moment and pulls out an axe.
Polly: Kill it with fire!
Luz: AAAAAAAAH
After Luz screamed she felt a plant vine wrap around her as she was pulled back up and disappearing from Anne's phone.
Anne: No wait! Come back! ARGH! Polly what the heck?
Polly: What she could have been a ghost or demon in your phone.
Hop Pop enters.
Hop Pop: Now what in tarnation are you kids screaming about?
Anne: Hop Pop. I just discovered another human traveling between realms on my phone, I was about to get answers until Polly scared her away.
Hop Pop: ( groans) Dang it what did I tell you kids about your shenanigans?
Sprig: But Hop Pop, it was real.
Hop Pop: You kids are obviously watching too much of that phone. You keep doing that, your brain cells are going to fry up and end up just like Wally. Now get your butts off the couch. There's chores to do and maybe go on a crazy adventure or two like we always do every week.
Three of them: ( groans) Yes Hop Pop.
The three of them leave the room and head outside as Anne left her phone on the couch. Once they were gone, Hop Pop sat down and got Anne's phone ready to watch the new episodes of Suspicion Island.
Hop Pop: Hehehe. Alright, time for some me time with some Suspicion Island.
( Sorry, back to the story)
Luz was pulled out of the black hole by Willow with her vines. Once she was out, it closed up.
Willow: Gotch ya.
Alex: Phew, that was a close one. Wait a second longer and you would have been trapped in limbo for eternity.
Eda: You okay Luz? What did you see?
Luz: I don't...I don't even know.
Meanwhile
Lilith and Seraphina were in the woods. They were getting close the hive of the fire bees.
Seraphina: Fire bees?
Lilith: Fire bee honey is the last thing we need, but the hardest and most deadly part to get.
Seraphina: And I guess this is why you called me here.
Lilith: If you don't mind?
Seraphina: Not at all. Wait here.
Seraphina walks towards the fire bees. They saw her and started to swarm around her. Lilith look worried for and covered her eyes. But then she peeks and saw them calmed down as the didn't harm her. Seraphina's eyes were glowing purple as she was communicating with them with telepathy that she was no threat. She turned over to Lilith and motioned her to come. Lilith walked to her.
Seraphina: I've calmed them down. They'll allow you to take a sample.
Lilith nodded. She got a jar out and collected some of the honey.
Lilith: Let's go.
Seraphina nodded as she left with her.
Later that night.
The portal was nearly done, but decided to finish it up tomorrow. Luz, Christa, King, Hooty and Eda were just watching Lilith and Seraphina finishing up the Scrying potion.
Eda: Lily you done with that yet?
Lilith: Just hang on. Just adding the finishing touches and...
The scrying potion started to glow.
Lilith: ( gasps) It's working. Everyone come here. Look! Look!
Everyone gathered around.
Lilith: Behold, with this I am giving you a peek inside the Emperor's Castle.
They looked down as the potion showed them the inside of the castle with the coven scouts and dorodoros standing around.
Luz: So, what are we supposed to do with this?
Lilith: Whatever you want. Spy on them, know what plan they pull next or heck you can even pull a prank on them.
King: Wait we can prank these guys?
Lilith: Yes watch this. Show us, Mikela.
The potion showed them Mikela working on a new painting for Emperor Belos.
Mikela: Yes, it's almost done. I spent 10 hours perfecting this portrait for the Emperor and to show off for Coven Day. I just need to add the finishing touch. Very carefully, carefully...
Lilith: Observe.
Lilith took a baseball and dropped it in the potion. It landed on Mikela's head and made him mess up the painting, making a huge smear.
Mikela: Ow! Who did that? ( looks at painting and gasps) Ah! OHHH! NOHOHOHO! NOOOOO! That was 10 hours
Mikela knocks down the portrait in rage.
Mikela: 10 hours! AAAAAAAAAH!
The group laughed at his misfortune.
Eda: Oh good one Liliy.
Seraphina: I thought you weren't the mischievous type.
Lilith: What can I say. I'm a bad girl rebel now.
Luz: Cool auntie.
Lilith: Oh wait, wait. Where's Selene? She definitely has it coming.
Then it showed them Selene and Satarakura in the halls.
Satarakura: Hey want to get lunch? It's demon wing Tuesday.
Selene: I don't have time to eat. I'm on duty. Plus your the last person I'd want to get lunch with.
Satarakura: Come on, we're buddies. You and me remember? Besides you gotta eat. Your body needs fuel.
Seraphina: Ugh, she's one I definitely didn't want to see.
Luz: Well then.
Luz took out some water balloons.
Luz: Shall we?
Christa: Oh this is going to be sweet.
Everyone took a water balloon and threw them at Selene, soaking her wet.
Selene: AAAH! What the? Satarakura!
Satarakura: What? It wasn't me. But that was pretty funny. BAHAHAHAHAHA!
But then the group threw water balloons down at him and he stopped laughing and looked up at them.
Satarakura: Hey man, that's not cool.
The group laughed at them.
King: Oh this is sweet. What next?
Eda: Oh lets do Kikimora. She's a such a tool.
Then they looked into Kikimora's room, but before they could prank her they watched her playing with dolls which looked like everyone in the castle. She was playing with three dolls that looked like herself, Emperor Belos and Hunter.
Kikimora: ( with Belos doll) I am the great Emperor Belos. I am so powerful and I rule all.
Takes out her doll.
Kikmora: Oh great Emperor Belos. I am loyal to you and no one else. Also you are so handsome.
Takes out Hunter doll.
Kikimora: Out of the way Kikimora. I'm the Golden Guard. I am the Emperor's real right hand man because I'm such a know it all. I also have an annoying voice and I'm a big, fat, dumb buttface. ( with her doll) Ha, you're just a pathetic child. The Emperor likes me more. ( Hunter doll) Oh yeah? ( her doll) Yeah!
She began clashing the two dolls together like they were fighting. She had her doll knock down the Hunter doll.
Kikimora: ( Hunter doll) Oh no, I'm dead, bleh. ( her doll) Ha! Take that Golden Guard or should I say Loser Guard. ( Emperor Belos doll) I should have known from the start you were the best. Will you become the new head of the Emperor's Coven and marry me? ( her doll) Oh yes my liege! ( Emperor Belos doll) Oh come here baby!
Kikimora started to make kissing noises as she made it look like her dolls kissing.
Kikimora: ( Emperor Belos doll) Oh yes. I love you. ( her doll) Oh, oh your mask is so big.
The group looked away, disturbed of what they just saw.
Lilith: Uhhhh, I...I don't...
Seraphina: I'm a little creeped out now.
King: That was so creepy.
Luz: That was the most...cringe worthy thing I've ever seen in my life.
Christa: That is going to bother me for the rest of the night.
Hooty: And I thought I was the weird one. Hoot!
Eda: I can't believe we were all forced to watch that. You know what, uhh. I say we do Belos himself. I'd like to pull something great that dweep.
Lilith: Alright let's see.
The scrying potion was about to show them Emperor Belos, but nothing happened. It stopped bubbling and turned completely back.
Eda: What? What just happened?
Lilith: I don't know.
Christa: Is it broken?
Lilith: No it shouldn't be. It should work fine.
No...
Luz: Who said that?
No...
Lilith: Very funny Eda.
Eda: Uh that wasn't me.
No...
Everyone looked back at the scrying potion and on it was the word no in red text and could hear a scary whisper of someone saying no.
No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No.
It kept saying no as it multiplied and covered the whole potions.
Luz: Um, is this part of the spell?
Seraphina: No, somethings wrong. Something's blocking our spell.
King: Okay this is creeping me out now.
They got closer to take a closer look as the voice kept whispering no and text kept multiplying, but then...
RAAAAAAAAUUUUUUGGGGHHHHH!
The text formed into a fiery red eye, letting out a demonic/inhuman scream, scaring everyone and making them fall back. The scrying potion blew up and turning all the lights turned off. The screams echoed for a moment until fading away. The lights went back on as everyone was speechless of what happened.
King: Okay first off...WHAT?! Second...THE HECK? And third...WAS THAT?!
Seraphina: That was terrifying. Is everybody okay?
Eda: I'm alright, but geez Lilith. I mean I like to play around with you, but that was a bit intense don't you think?
Lilith: This was no prank. That should not have happened.
Luz: What was that even? That eye?
Lilith: I'm not sure. But the reason something would happen is if...if something in the castle was keeping us away from something important.
Luz looked over at Christa who was on her knees and facing the ground.
Luz: Christa?
Christa didn't answer her. She just kept staring at the ground as she was in some kind of trance. Her visions of reality kept flickering back and forth at that eye as well as fire of a burning city, and silhouettes of demons attacking. But the last flicker showed that fiery red eye and the dark figure she kept seeing in her dreams looking right at here. It looked familiar to her, but why and what were they?
Luz: Christa!
Christa: Huh what?
Luz: Are you okay?
Eda: You alright Chrissy? Did you get scared?
Christa: I'm fine, it's just...
Luz: Just what?
Christa: I...I'm not entirely sure.

Author's Note: That's it for this chapter. I know it wasn't much regarding plot, but had to do this to build up for my retelling of Yesterday's Lie up next. With the recent episodes I thought I should update Lilith's look and add some other references. I'm not entirely sure if Willow was adopted, I mean she doesn't really look like her dads, not to mention they're a gay couple. And as you all saw, I couldn't resist doing an funny Amphibia crossover scene when making this. But will I make an actual Amphibia story? I want to since I can really work with the characters and humor, but I don't know what to write to fit with my story telling style, not to mention the show is almost done.
