Chapter 29: Yesterday's Lie

The human realm, the world we know and Luz's home. We begin at her house and inside Luz's room and see someone looks and sounds like Luz cleaning up her room. She went to her shelf and placed things like her action figures, a tin foil swan and a picture of younger Luz with her new Azura book and action figure.
Luz?: Ah, much better.
Luz brought the box outside of the house as her mother, Camila was outside.
Camila: What's the box for mija?
Luz?: Oh just cleaning up a little.
Camila: Even this?
Camila picked up the tin foil swan.
Camila: You used to love making me tin foil swans.
Luz?: Oh well, I'm just looking for a fresh start.
Luz placed the box near the trash can.
Luz?: Camp taught me a lot you know?
Camila: Yes, it sure did.
But then they heard the sounds of a bunny squeaking, caught in a trap.
Camila: ( gasps) Luz, grab the pliers.
Luz runs to get them as Camila puts some gloves on before being handed to the pliers. She knelt down and slowly approached the bunny who's foot was trapped.
Camila: Okay, okay,little bunny, you're gonna be alright.
Camila cuts the wire attached to the bunny's foot, freeing it.
Camila: There you go.
Luz?: That's the fifth trap this week.
Camila: If I ever catches who's responsible for this I'll give him PA-POW!
Luz giggles.
Camila: Let's go back inside. (boops Luz's nose) I'll make maduros.
We cut back inside with Luz going to her room and looking at her reflection on mirrors of her cupboard.
Luz?: A new life.
She opens it to get a shirt, but once she closed it, she saw her reflection has changed and the real Luz who was in the mirror.
Luz: YOU!
Luz?:AAAAAH!
A little while earlier
Alex was about done with the portal as it was under a cover. Joining with Luz and the others to witness this was Archimedes, Matti and Seraphina.
Luz: Alex is it ready yet?
Alex: It's about to be. Just stand over there so I can show it off.
Christa: This is it Luz. You're about to see your mom. You excited?
Luz: I am. It's been three or four months since I last saw her.
Archimedes: I can't believe we're about to witness the new portal. I mean looking at these notes you gathered, it's amazing what struggles that Phillip went through to make this. And you just found it Eda?
Eda: I told you that's what happend.
Lilith: You never once questioned where it came from.
Eda: No. Okay maybe sometimes, but finders keeper, losers weepers right?
Alex: Alright! Ladies and Gentlemen and uh whatever the heck Hooty is supposed to be.
Hooty: I'm the Hoot House! Im the star of this show! Hoot! Hoot!
Alex: Anyway. After pouring my sweat, blood and tears, I present to you probably my biggest project and most likely biggest achievement...
King: Just get on with it!
Alex: ( glares at King) Yes that's what was about to do. ( Mumbles) Smelly hairball.
King: What?
Alex Nothing! I present to you...the portal.
Alex removes the cover and shows everyone the new portal door. Though it looked a bit rough and beaten up and all sorts of different items attached to it making it look like a mess.
Alex: Ta-da.
King: That's a portal?
Alex: What do you mean it's a portal? Of course it is.
King: Does it work?
Alex: ( laughs) Does it work? Of course it does.
Eda: Eh you sure it's not going to blow our faces off?
Alex: Hey come on, don't judge a book by it's cover. I'm telling ya it's a portal.
Lilith: It's not that we're doubting you but...
Alex: Okay so it doesn't look pretty, but I followed the instructions exactly what Luz handed to me.
Luz: Well I mean it did say this was his first attempt.
Matti: First attempt, but wouldn't that mean it's like a prototype or something?
Seraphina: Yeah wouldn't that mean it could fail or not work right?
Eda: Well there's only one way to find out, give it a go Al.
Alex: Right, Luz the Titan Blood. And don't call me Al!
Luz got out Amity's blood stained glove.
Luz: Titan blood. Who knew something so powerful was in the key this whole time.
Christa: Crazy isn't it?
Luz: It's okay. If Belos is still trying to get to the human realm, he'll have to beat me to it!
Luz handed Alex the glove. He took a small sample of it and taped it to the door. He activated the switch and the door began to glow. The portal began to leak Titan blood until finally it transformed into a warped portal and opened the entrance, which didn't look like the human realm.
Luz: It worked.
Christa: Did it?
King: Yeah this looks really different. Hey Alex what did you do?
Alex: Nothing, I did what the instructions said.
Eda: You sure you didn't skip a step?
Alex: Skip a step? Skipping a step in making something is the biggest mistake a construction witch can make. That's like saying I'm building a house but I didn't bother to add the support beam to it.
King: So why does it look like that?
Alex: I don't know! I never made a portal before!
Luz: ( putting her cloak on) It's okay Alex. It's fine. This is my one chance to see my mom.
Matti: Hold on Luz, you're not really going in there are you?
Seraphina: This looks dangerous. What if you get hurt?
Archimedes: I have to agree. If you're not sure about this, I wouldn't go in there. Who knows where that will take you.
Eda: Luz as impressive as this is. I don't want you getting hurt.
Luz: I'll be fine.
Luz ties a rope around her waist.
Luz: If it looks like it's closing, pull me out or once I make sure my mom is okay, I'll be right back.
Christa: You sure you'll be fine on your own?
Luz: Yeah, plus it might be best for now I bring her into this slowly and introduce you guys later.
Christa: ( sighs) Alright. I trust.
Alex: Hey Luz, just uh... just be careful down there and if you do see your mom, be sure to mention me for helping you get back.
Luz: I will.
Luz gives Alex a hug much to his surprise, but did hug her back.
Luz: Thanks Alex.
Alex: Eh...yeah. Your welcome.
Luz lets go and gives a hug to everyone else.
King: Oh and don't forget to mention me!
Luz turned to the portal and jumped in. She was floating up from a pool of water. Luz gasps, gets up and starts coughing. She looked around and saw she wasn't in the human realm nor the demon realm, but somekind of other realm that looked like dark green trench with water all over the floor. A strange cube-like object appears from the water and starts floating upwards as more began to float up.
Luz: What is this place? Did I do something wrong. Eda? King? Christa? Can anyone here me?
When she called out for them, another cube floated up to her. She touched it and let out a bright light. She opened her eyes and saw she was back at the Owl House.
Luz: Am I back at the Owl House?
But then wind blew that caused the window to open, but with her in it. She began to tap on the glass.
Luz: Wait, I think I'm in the reflection. She looked over and saw everyone else standing outside near the portal with Eda, King, Christa and Alex holding onto the rope she was attached to.
Matti: Guys I'm really uncomfortable about this. Maybe we should get her out now.
Eda: Easy Matti. She made it this far. We just have to trust her.
Archimedes: E's right. Luz is a strong girl. If she got Eda out from the Emperor's castle, than this should be nothing. Just got to have faith in her.
Luz disappears and returns to the other realm letting go of the cube.
Luz: So if I say who I want to see, these things will show me. I wonder if I can see...Amity!
Another cube floated up towards her.
Luz: Wait, wait no I was just kidding!
But the cube flashes and Luz was now on a mirror on the wall. She looked around and was in Amity's new room at Alice's mansion. Amity enters her room with another box.
Amity: ( sighs) Think that's the last box. Finally can settle down.
Amity opened her box to get her stuff out, but one of them doesn't look like like hers. It looked like a green blanket.
Amity: Oh what the...Ed!
Edric enters.
Edric: Yeah sis?
Amity: What is your foofie doing in my box?
Edric: Oh, I ran out of space in mine and ran out of boxes, so I added my foofie into yours. I'll take that.
Edric takes his foofie and starts rubbing it.
Edric: I love my foofie. I love my foofie.
Amity: Okay serioulsy, throw that out. It's old and it kinda stinks.
Edric: No, I need it.
Emira enters.
Emira: Oh hey Mittens, I think you mixed a couple of your things into my box. One of them being this creepy doll of Luz you made.
Luz: Wha...?
Amity: Give me that! It's not creepy. I made it out of her image.
Emira: Yeah okay. But you said you made that just so you could practice talking to Luz back when you used to simp on her. You don't need that anymore, toss it out. Beside it's kinda creepy.
Edric: Yeah even I know that's creepy.
Emira: Says mister foofie here.
Edric: It gives me confidence.
Amity: Whatever. Just go.
The two shrugged and left.
Amity: My Luz doll isn't creepy. It's cute, pretty and...and lovely just like the real Luz.
Amity looked back a the door to make sure no one was there and sniffed the dolls hair.
Amity: And smells like her too. Especially the hair, which is her actual hair that I snipped off whenver she wasn't looking in class.
Luz: Uhhh...
Amity: Oh hi Luz.
Amity's eyes widened and turned to the mirror to see if she really saw Luz, but she was gone. She looked back at the doll confused and thinking she was seeing things.
Amity: Okay maybe I should get rid of this.
Back with Luz.
Luz: Okay, just going to pretend I didn't see that. Okay focus Luz, focus. Camila! Camila Noceda from the Human realm.
She looked up and saw one of the cubes from above glowing.
Luz: Got it! ( takes out ice glyph) Ice platform!
Luz placed the glyph on the ground, but it didn't work and disappeared.
Luz: Okay, looks like we'll have to do this the hard way.
Luz jumped on a floating cube and made her way to the one up top. But when she was halfway there, the room rotated and she fell to the ceiling which was now the floor, but found the cube she was looking for.
Luz: Mom.
Luz touched it and it took her to Camila's phone screen.
Luz: It's my house.
She looked at her surroundings and she was in the kitchen and saw her mom dancing to some music that was playin from her phone.
Luz: Mom! Mom?
Luz tried to call out for her, but Camila couldn't hear her due to the loud music, but then to her surprise, her doppelganger entered the kitchen.
Luz?: Do you need any help?
Luz gasps seeing another her with her mom.
Camila: Are you done cleaning your room?
Luz?: I'm Luz. With all that stuff gone, I feel like a whole new person.
Luz: Evil doppelganger. Just like in the movies! Mom! Mom that's not me!
Luz kept calling out to her mom, but again she couldn't hear with the music on.
Camila: I can finish up here mija.
Luz?: Thanks mom.
The second Luz runs up to her room as Luz leaves the phone screen.
Luz: Follow her! Luz Noceda 2.0! Uh doppelganger!
But the cube didn't work, none of them did.
Luz: ARGH! Why won't you work!? ( sighs) Okay Luz just calm down. Breathe and count to five.
But then one of the cubes activated and was glowing to show her the second Luz. She approached it as she could hear her voice.
Luz?: A new life.
The scene goes back to wear the intro scene ended with Luz meeting her doppelganger.
Luz: YOU!
Luz?: AAAAH
Luz: So you can hear me.
The second Luz began to speak, but her voice changed to her real one and eyes blinked the other way.
Luz?: You're from the demon realm.
Luz: Listen I jus want to...
Luz?: I'm not going back I... ( pulls out bat) I won't go back!
But then they heard Camila's voice outside her door.
Camila: Luz? ¿Está todo bien?
Luz: Uh...Si mama! I just saw a spoiler for the final season of Attack on Titan!
Camila: ( groans) I will understand anime.
Camila leaves but once she was gone the second Luz ran from her.
Luz: Wait!
The second Luz jumped out the window and ran away from the house. She made her way to the old abandoned house. Luz caught up to her, this time inside a make up mirror as she watched her doppelganger inside the house upset.
Luz?: So that's it. I'm gonna have to run again. Why couldn't this just work out!?
But the second Luz sets off a trap that catches her leg. Once she fell, her form began to change, revealing to be a basilisk with blue hair. She was scared and struggling to get out.
Luz: Stop moving. You'll make it tighter.
The basilisk stops and looks over at Luz in the mirror.
Luz: I'm sorry, I didn't mean to freak you out. I just need to know what's going on. You're a demon from the Boiling Isles aren't you?
The basilisk nods and tries transforming back into her human form, but wasn't transformed all the way and was in a semi human transformation with some signs of parts out, mainly her eyes and ears.
Luz: What's your name?
Vee: I'm number Fi...I mean Vee. I'm Vee.
Luz: Okay Vee. I'm going to help free you. You're going to be alright. Okay back up a bit, give the wire some slack. Now, look for a little metal thingamabob. Sorry I don't know what it's called.
Vee finds the metal object and pulls the rope loose.
Luz: There you go. Nice and easy.
Vee: Ah! ( pants) Thank you. You must be Camila's real daughter.
Luz: I am, but right now I'm trapped in the Boiling Isles. Who are you and why are you pretending to be me?
Vee: I'm just looking for a place to belong. You were missing and mom...I mean Camila seemed so kind so I stayed with her, but I'll go if you want.
Luz: Wait, wait, wait! Maybe we can help each other out here. Today I was going to tell my mom where I've been, but because of you she hasn't realized I've been missing. So keep living in my place, for now. When I get back, I can introduce her to the Demon Realm and help you find a place to live. Deal?
Vee: I guess, but there's one problem. I need magic to transform and I've used it all up
Luz: Hmm. Oh, that's where we can get some magic.
Luz pointed to the newspaper on the ground and Vee picks it up.
Vee: Secrets of Gravesfield?
Luz: No, no that's junk. Turn it over.
Vee turns it over and shows Eda running out of a coffee shop.
Vee: Strange woman banned from cafe.
Luz: That's Eda, the owl lady. She's been coming here for years. She must have left some magic stuff behind. Maybe you can find something to help replenish your magic.
Vee: Okay, we'll try.
Vee picks up the mirror and leaves the abandoned house but not realizing the cameras set inside.
Scene shifts to Gravesfield with Vee wearing a hat and glasses to hide her eyes and ears and making her way to the Robin's Roast Cafe.
Vee: Is this it? Do I just go in and ask about the witch on the paper?
Luz: Yes, maybe they still have one of her enchanted pastries.
Vee enters the cafe and sniffs around for anything magic.
Barista: Hello, what can I get ya?
Vee: Hi uh, have any uh...magical old ladies left enchanged items here.
Barista: Uh, your not friends with that witch obsessed guy are you? I told him to stop leaving pamflets here.
Vee: Actually I'm asking about her.
Vee pointed up the wall of banned customers. One of them being Eda.
Barista: Oh you mean Marilyn? Yeah she tried paying for a latte with a live racoon a couple months ago. But when I called the cops she did something weird with the crossants. We threw them in the trash, but we have a new problem.
We cut to Vee going the dumpster outside and sniffed around.
Vee: I don't smell anything. Huh?
Coming near the trash were two talking rats.
Rats: Bread of wisdom grants us speech. We desire more.
Luz: Cool, talking rats. Maybe they know something.
The rats snarl at Vee, scaring her and running away.
Luz: Vee, is everything alright?
Vee: Yeah just... just don't like confrontation you know?
Luz: Oh well that's okay. I'm sure their's someone else who's seen Eda.
But then Vee picks up another scent.
Luz: What is it?
Vee: I can smell magic. It's very faint, but it's there.
Luz: Where?
Vee kept sniffing around.
Vee: In...in there.
Vee pointed out where the smell was coming from, the Gravesfield Historical society. Vee enters and sniffs around, but then sneezes. Then the meseums curator enters, Jacob Hobkins.
Jacob: Is it that dusty in here? Welcome to the Gravesfield Historical Society. Lemme guess, you're here to buy those weird cards, right?
Vee: Cards?
Jacob pulls out his own deck of card, which are Hexes Hold'em cards that Eda used to play.
Luz: ( whispers) Hexes Hold'em cards.
Jacob: These ones here, they seem to be pretty popular with high schoolers. Some old lady tried to dump them in a river a while back, but I bought them off her. Though she was kinda odd because she kept asking for snails. You want a set?
Vee: Yes please.
Jacob: Let me go get them, so feel free to look around.
Jacob left inside the door for staff members as Vee looked around.
Vee: I could smell magic from those cards.
Luz: Those were Eda's. I wonder where she got rid of them.
Vee looked around the museum as she waited for Jacob to return. Then she stopped and looked at her reflection in a glass case and Luz was there with her.
Luz: Hey you okay?
Vee: I don't know. I mean things were going fine for a while, but now everything I'm trying to get away is starting to come back.
Luz: Am I making things uncomfortable for you?
Vee: No, um maybe. I don't know, it's just I never wanted to look back ever again. You have it lucky you know that.?You have a mom who loves and cares for you.
Luz: Don't you have one back home.
Vee: No, I never had a mom or a family. ( sighs) My real name is Number 5 and I'm a basilisk and...technically I shouldn't exisit.
Luz: I met a basilisk once. She hurt a lot fo people. But what do you mean you shouldn't exist.
Vee: My kind went extinct centuries ago, but we were brought back by this horrible man.
Flashback: 10 years ago.
At Emperor Belos's castle, we cut to the castle's laboratory with the coven's two head scientists, Dr Cushing and Mr Hirata. The door opened and Warden Wrath with his guards came in with cages of the newly created basilisks, one of them being a younger Vee.
Warden Wrath: Doctor, I brought the basilisks as requested.
Dr Cushing: Excellent Warden. We shall begin tests and experimentation on them.
Warden Wrath: I can't believe you two actually managed to bring back demons that are supposed to be extinct.
Dr Cushing: It may seem impossible, but nothing is truly impossible for science. Years of researching, finding a fossilized mosquito with basilisk blood still in it took five years and another five to bring them back. ( motions to Mr Hirata) Of course it wouldn't have taken me longer without you Akihiko.
Mr Hirata: Of course old friend. We promised the Emperor we'd do this for the Titan. Since the last two died we had to make more to continue our research. We should begin now.
Dr Cushing: Yes...( takes out stun baton) we should.
Mr Hirata takes out a clipboard and Warden Wrath a cage of rats. First they approached Number 3.
Warden Wrath: Feed slave. Feed.
Warden let out a few rats for it to drain magic from it. Dr Cushing took out a photo of a generic coven scout and showed it to the basilisk.
Dr Cushing: Take this form.
Number 3 looked hesitant to do so. Dr Cushing responed by hitting the cage with his baton.
Dr Cushing: Take it!
Number 3 started by him did so. Mr Hirata took note on that.
Mr Hirata: Number 4 now.
They moved on to the next cage as Warden let some rats in for it to feed, but it didn't do so.
Dr Cushing: ( hitting the cage) Feed slave!
Number 4 did what he said and fed off the magic from the rats. He showed it the photo of the coven scout and took the form as Mr Hirata took note on it.
Mr Hirata: Number 5.
They moved on to Number 5 ( Vee). Warden let some rats in as she fed on them.
Dr Cushing: Now then, take the form of this scout.
Vee tried to do so, but struggled. She was under a lot of stress.
Dr Cushing: I said, take the form of this scout now.
Vee tried again but couldn't. Then she saw Dr Cushing activate the baton.
Dr Cushing: Last warning, do it or else.
Vee tried but couldn't, this angered him and Dr Cushing stuck the baton into her cage and electricuted her.
Dr Cushing: Worthless life form! I gave you life and feed you and this is how you repay me?!
Dr Cushing electricutes her again as she screams.
Mr Hirata: That's enough Peter. You'll kill it.
Dr Cushing: It doesn't matter. We can make more.
Dr Cushing electricutes Vee again.
Number 4: Leave her alone!
Number 4 reaches it's arm out the cage, but grabs Mr Hirata from the back of his cloak, pulling him to the cage. Dr Cushing and Warden try to help. During the struggle however, a picture falls from Mr Hirata's shirt and to the ground near Vee's cage. She looked down and saw a picture of a teenage girl with black hair in a ponytail, slanted eyes with glasses and wore a hexside uniform looking like she was part of of the potions track. Warden pulled Mr Hirata away and Dr Cushing set the voltage to a higher level and electricuted Number 4 multiple times until it couldn't move anymore.
Dr Cushing: And stay dow wretched hell spawn! ( turns to Mr Hirata) Are you alright Akihiko?
Mr Hirata: I'm fine.
Dr Cushing: These monsters think they can do whatever. Always keep your guard up and show them who are the superiour ones.
Kikimora enters the lab.
Kikimora: Dr Cushing, the Emperor wishes to see you.
Dr Cushing: I'll be right there. We'll continue this later.
Dr Cushing and Warden Wrath leave the lab. Mr Hirata picks up the clip board to finish the notes, but also see's his photo of the girl. He picks it up and when he looked into Vee's cage, he gasped. She was now the girl in the picture. He gazed at her and fell to her knees and tried reaching towards her.
Mr Hirata: Yuko. Yuko is it really you?
Mr Hirata reached out for her, but Vee backed away a litt.e
Mr Hirata: Yuko, it's me. It's daddy.
When he touched her cheek Vee turned back to normal. He gasped again as tears fell down from his eyes and covered his face and sobbed. Vee looked at him with a sad look.
Vee: I-I'm sorry. Please don't hurt me!
Mr Hirata looked at her and wiped the tears off his eyes.
Mr HIrata: So you can talk and shapeshift.
Vee: Well I mean I was under so much stress when I couldn't. And seeing that picture, it looked easier than what I had to shape shift into. I'm sorry, I didn't mean...
Mr Hirata: It's fine. Even though it was fake, there was however something bitter sweet seeing her again after so long.
Vee: Is she you daughter?
Mr Hirata: ( nods) Yes, Yuko was my little girl. She was smart, kind and helpful. She studied so hard and was always telling me one day she would one day become head witch of the Potion's Coven. She had so much potential and I supported her all the way. Until twenty years ago, she went to the convention and there was an accident. She was looking at the booth for potions, but there was a leak that caused a massive exlplosion. She was caught in it and...and didn't make it.
Mr Hirata coverd his eyes as Vee reached her arm for his shoulder.
Vee: I'm sorry.
Mr Hirata: No... you shouldn't be. I'm sorry. You and them, you shouldn't be going through this. I'll make it right for you. I promise Number 5...no I don't like that name. How about?
He looked at her cage number and the five was in roman numerals and got an idea.
Mr Hirata: Vee.
Vee: Vee? I like that. Thank you.
Vee: ( narrating) The only positive parts was talking to that man. He was so kind despite working for that awful man. He talked to me and realized what we were going through and all this was wrong.
Next day.
Dr Cushing: What are you saying?
Mr Hirata: I'm saying we should stop these tests on the basilisks.
Dr Cushing: Are you insane Akihiko?
Mr Hirata: Peter, they're not mosnters. They're intelligent. They're still living beings like us. We can't experiment them like this anymore.
Dr Cushing: These are test subject monsters. Nothing more.
Mr Hirata: No they aren't. Let me show you, this is Vee.
Dr Cushing: What? You named one of them?
Mr Hirata: Yes, but she's not a monster. They're living beings like us.
Dr Cushing didn't buy this and electricuted her.
Mr Hirata: Peter stop!
Mr Hirata pulled Dr Cushing away from her as the two struggled until Dr Cushing pushed him down.
Dr Cushing: Are you really siding with these beasts Akihiko?
Mr Hirata: Peter, please listen to me.
Dr Cushing: Open your eyes. They're manipulating you, softening you up so they can attack and escape! Seems I was right.
Mr Hirata: But Peter.
Dr Cushing: I do not want to hear another word about this or else I will report your misbehaviour to the Emperor! Do you understand Akihiko.
Mr Hirata: I...I understand. I'm sorry.
Dr Cushing: Alright. Come then.
Dr Cushing leaves the room. Mr Hirata looks back at Vee with a sad look. He formed a determined one, he wasn't going to let anything else happen to her.
Later that night.
Vee and the other Basilisks were sleeping in their cages, when they heard small crashes and magic going off near the corner of the ceilings. They looked and saw Mr Hirata hiding an destroying the security cameras. He approached Vee.
Vee: Mr Hirata.
Mr Hirata: Shh. I'm getting you out of here.
Mr Hirata took out the keys and unlocked Vee's cage as well as the other two.
Vee: You're really doing this?
Mr Hirata: Yes, now follow me and quick. Someone is going to check here any minute.
Mr Hirata lead the basilisks through the castle. But then they heard the alarm go off.
Mr Hirata: They know.
Vee: No, we're going to get caught.
Mr Hirata: No your not. Keep going.
Mr Hirata kept leading them and sneaking through not to get caught by the guards. Soon they made it to a dead end.
Vee: A dead end.
Mr Hirata: No...look.
Mr Hirata pushed a tile on the wall and opened a secret passage.
Mr Hirata: Get in. It'll lead you outside. Once you are out, get as far away from here as possible and take new forms.
Vee: But what about you?
Mr Hirata: I'll be fine. I'll lead them away. You have to go now.
The 3 and 4 left and Vee was about to follow them, but not before hugging Mr Hirata.
Vee: Thank you.
Mr Hirata: Your welcome, be safe.
Vee lets go and escapes.
Flashback ends.
Vee: I never saw Mr Hirata again, but I'm so thankful he helped me escape.
Luz: I can't believe Mr Hirata used to be in the Emperor's Coven. He's a school teacher now.
Vee: Well I'm glad he's okay. But while we managed to escape it would only be a matter of time until we were caught again. That's when I saw you and went the portal. I heard your mom calling you and so I disguised as you. Camila took me to camp, I learned to adapt here because of it and she's been so nice to me. You have such an amazing mom, why would you run away from her?
Luz: Vee I never ran away, I stumbled upon here. I was allowed to go back, but I wanted to become a witch. I planned on coming back home, but then the portal got destroyed and I've trying to build a new one. It's been complicated for me. I'm sorry you went through all that.
Vee: It's fine. But you know I've never been so happy in my life since I came here.
But then Vee smelled something.
Luz: What is it?
Vee: Something, in there.
Vee went into the staffs only door.
Vee: Where's the light?
She finds the light switch and gasps when she finds the room full of weapons, armor, books about witches and demons, a computer and a desk with the hexes and hold'em card deck blown with a fan blowing at it to lure her in and a billboard full of pictures of Eda along with pictures of space and one picture has Bomber the Great ( read Advent of the Gara Droids) and on the desk was what appeared to be an autobiography novel called " Close Encounters with the Robotmen."
Vee: What is all this?
Vee bumped into the monitor and she saw recordings of Vee being in the trap.
Vee: Have we been followed this whole time!?
Vee tried running out, only for a cage to be dropped on her. Vee dropped the mirror with Luz and it broke.
Luz: Vee? Vee?!
Luz appeared on another glass case on the floor and saw Vee struggling to get out and turning back into her basilisk form.
Vee: Let me out!
Jacob enters.
Jacob: Whoa it worked. I, I can't believe it you're real. After all this time, after setting up all those traps I finally caught a living, breathing demon!
Vee looked at him scared.
Jacob: Oh don't be surprised. A few years ago I had a chance to encounter another one of your kind.
Jacob pulls out a photo of Eda in her owl beast form.
Jacob: At first I couldn't believe what I saw, but after watching a few mewtube videos I learned the truth, witches and demons are real.
Luz gasps.
Jacob: And you in allegiance with the Robotmen from Mars in the future and are here to harvest human teeth to power your time machine to change the world where we humans are the slaves of anthropromorphic sloths!
Luz: Uhhh.
Vee: You don't really know anything about us do you? What are Robotmen?
Jacob: Oh don't play dumb. I'll expose your vile plans on mewtube and finally, get my account verified. Get comfortable demon, because you'll be in cages for the rest of your life.
Jacob leaves the room.
Luz: Don't worry Vee, we can think of a way out of this.
Vee: Go back to the Demon Realm Luz.
Luz: What?
Vee: Even if I get out, he knows what my disguise looks like. He'd out me to Camila and it'd would cause her more trouble.
Luz: Vee! You're giving up too quick.
Vee: I'm being realistic. It's okay, I'm used to living like this. Goodbye, Luz.
Luz: NO!
Vee uses her tail to shatter the glass case, sending Luz back into the other realm.
Luz: Vee! Uh 5. Number 5!
But nothing. She couldn't get in touch with Vee again. But there was only one other person who might be able to help her.
Luz: Camila Noceda.
Another cube rises up and shows Luz her mom again and again was on her phone screen. She saw her mom with the box Vee was going to throw out.
Luz: Mom are you there?
Camila heard her voice and saw her on the phone, thinking it was a facetime.
Camila: Luz? I didn't even hear you call.
Luz: Mom. It's so great to hear your voice.
Camila: Oh well it's great to hear ou too. What's wrong?
Luz: I found out who's setting up those traps, and he's... hurting a friend of mine. But first... I have to tell you the truth. About the last few months. Let me tell you about a place called Boiling Isles.
Camila sits down to listen to Luz's story.
Later
Camila arrives at the meseum where Luz told her to go too.
Camila: You know, if you wanted me to pick you and your friend up, you didn't have to make up this elaborate story about the "demon realm".
Luz: I'm not making it up, Mom.
Camila: (giggles) Don't worry, I'll play along.
Camila enters the building.
Camila: I know this stuff made school difficult, but I'm glad you're still being creative.
A flying pickaxe flies toward and hits a statue labelled "A WITCH" in the back and we see Jacob carrying some boxes.
Camila: Are you the curator here?
Jacob: Who's askin'?
Camila: A little 'birdie' told me you caught a demon! I would love to see it!
Jacob: Wait, how did you know? Do you work for the government? So, the President sent a vet to study the demon's anatomy, huh? Sure. But first, (picks up a voice recorder) I'll need verbal confirmation that I get to publish my findings first. (voice recorder beeps)
Camila: Uh... 'kay.
Jacob: Good. (voice recorder beeps again) Now you're bound by law. Follow me.
Camila: (to Luz) You even made me a part of your game! Ooh, This is so fun.
Jacob leads her into his office.
Camila: Camila: Ooh! Is this one of those escape rooms? Or, um, what do you call them, a LARP? Oh, sorry, don't want to break the illusion.
Jacob: Let me start by telling you the secret history of Gravesfield.
Jacob takes out an old history book and shows Camila.
Jacob: In the 1600s this was a peaceful colony. Until, tragedy struck.
Jacob flips the book to the next page to reveal a drawing of two Victorian-era dressed men, one of them shaking hands with a witch. All of their faces are somewhat rubbed out.
Jacob: Two brothers were lured into a realm of evil by a real witch, never to be seen again. (closes book, turns to table) People have stopped believing in the horrors of witchcraft, but... I know the TRUTH.
Camila: Woah. Luz, this is quite a detailed story.
Jacob: But now I have proof that other worldly beings exist. Behold!
Jacob removes the covers to show Vee, tied up and in the cage.
Camila: Oh wow! That's a real...convincing...costume?
It soon hit her that this was real.
Jacob: A costume?! This is a real life demon. Come here watch this.
Jacob shows her the computer of the cameras he set up and catching Vee turning from her human form to basilisk form making Camila gasp.
Jacob: More vile beings will probably come to it's rescue. But I can protect humanity. I even had some custom gear made from the renisannce fair. Usually I don't take it out for anyone. But what the heck?! If I'm going to work with the government, I might as well show off a little.
Jacob goes to get his armor.
Camila: Luz come on. I don't like this game anymore.
Luz: It's not a game mama. Everything I told you was true.
Camila: So that thing has been living with me the entire time?
Luz: Her name is Vee. She may look different but she's not bad. Please you got to help her.
Camila looked over at Vee, looking at her with worry now that she knows what she looks like now. Camila approached her and Vee shut her eyes scared of what was going to happen. Camila leaned down to her and gave a smile.
Camila: Hello. This is all so confusing, but who knew I had such a strong girl living under my roof this whole time.
Vee calmed down and with a surprised look, happy to know that Camila didn't see her as a monster and shed tears of joy.
Jacob: So how do I look?
Camila looked over and saw him in his armor.
Jacob: Maybe we can collaborate on a version that can survive in the battles on Mars.
Jacob gasps when he see's Luz on Camila's phone.
Jacob: Wait what is that? Are you recording this?
Camila: Uhhh.
Jacob: Wonderful. ( pulls out a dagger) I mean I was going to wait after the press tour but let's begin our live disection of this demon right now!
Camila: Stop! Uh, the president just called. Yeah and uh...uh... you know what? I don't have the imagination for this. I will be taking this innocent child with me and you will never bother us again!
Jacob: What, absolutly not. We made a verbal agreement.
Camila: Mister! You better back the heck down! Or else I will tell the police that you've been illegally setting traps and camera's on private property.
Jacob: I won't let you take away my discoverey. I'm the good guy here.
Camila pulls out a sandal out of her purse.
Camila: Yeah. A lot of bad guys say that.
Camila wacks him with the sandal as the scene goes black.
We then cut to her driving home with Vee next to her in the rain.
Vee: Is it okay to leave him in there?
Camila: He'll be fine. He really needs the time for self reflection.
They soon make it home and the headlights reflcting on the rain drops creates an illusion of Luz standing there in holo form.
Luz: ( gasps) Look what I can do with the rain. Vee I'm so happy your okay.
Luz tried to touch her, but she went right through since she's not physically there.
Luz: Yeah thanks for not giving up on me and thank you Camila for everything.
Camila: Vee, you have a place here for as long as you need and take these.
Camila takes out the hexes and hold'em cards for Vee.
Camila: Luz said you need these.
Vee: ( gasp) Magic.
Vee begins eating the cards and heads inside, leaving the two alone.
Luz: Mom you were awesome back there! Thanks for being cool about everything.
But Camila starts to cry and turns to her.
Camila: I'm trying to hold it together... I really am... But I have never been this scared before. A demon realm? Magic? How are you gonna get back here? Is this the only way I can touch you?
Camila attempts to hold Luz's hand, but it just phases through again.
Luz: I... I need a little more time, but if I keep working my hardest I will make a working portal, I promise!
Camila: As scary as this is, it really does seem like you've matured.
Luz: Yes! I've learned so much. Staying here was the best decision I ever made.
Camila: You...chose to stay there.
Luz: Oh, uh I didn't mean like that.
Camila: What? Were you trying to live out some crazy witch fantasy?! Did you... ( voice begins to crack) did you hate living with me that much?
Luz: No...no mama I...
But then Luz felt herself going up. She was being pulled out.
Luz: No, not yet. Not yet! Mom! I'm being pulled back.
Camila: Baby! No,no, no,no no! When you come home promise you'll stay here. I didn't mean to push you away. I swear things will be different.
Luz: Mama, it wasn't you. It never was.
Camila: Promis me Luz! Please.
Luz: ( sighs) Okay mama. I promise.
Luz was pulled back further and was gone as Camila stood there crying.
Luz: MOM!
Luz kept being pulled back until finally was back in the Boiling Isles.
Everyone: Luz!
Everyone gathered around to check on her and help her up.
Alex: Easy now. You alright.
Eda: I'm sorry we had to pull you out, the portal was closing.
They looked and saw portal closing and breaking down.
Archimedes: See, that's why I said not to go in there.
Christa: So Luz did you see your mom?
King: Did you talk to her? Did you mention me?
Luz: Yeah...I did.
Eda: Hey just rest up now kiddo. You had a long day.
Alex: Sorry this one was a bust. But don't worry Luz, with some trial and error, I get another one ready for you soon. A better one.
King: I'm going to eat human snacks.
Hooty: I can't wait to share parenting tips.
Archimedes: Oh and I'd love to see what your libraries and history are like. I mean is it true there was a human who was named after me?
Eda: I think it would be the other way around Archy.
Matti: You're not exactly someone famous.
Archimedes: What? How can you say that? I work at the museum.
Seraphina: Of course I'd want to see what kind of beasts your world has.
Lilith: I mean it would be cool to check it out with you.
Everyone kept talking, but Christa saw the look on Luz's face and saw something was not right with her as Luz now had to think of the promise she made to her mom.

Author's Note: That's it for this chapter. And, I know I'm sorry this retelling wasn't the best and mainly scene for scene, but considering the limititations with episode regarding the characters and setting, there really wasn't much different I could do. Christa would not have had much purpose here even if I included her in but tried changing it up as much as possible. So now I just want to say I think we're at the half way point of the story, maybe it might be more than half but I'm surprised my story went this far. But now that I finally got to this episode, I can finally move on and think more on the next part. I will bring some newer episodes into this, but not all because of the plot difference ut will bring some ideas of the show into here, depending on what it is ( but looks like I was right about a certain plot point in the recent episode " Reachig Out" which I won't spoil in case you haven't seen). I want to thank you all for reading and supporting me and this story and Lady Shadow92 for her support, help and for half the original characters in this. I seriously could not have accomplished this on my own. I made this not just because I'm a fan of the show, but also because this was my answer the shortened season 3 we're to get. Consider this my expansion on the show with my own plot. Oh and finally, after doing so much research , here is my ideal cast for the new characters if they were in the show.
