Chapter 42: Having your Sisters Back

Matti continued banging onto front door of the Clawthorne's house as Babalou slowly approached her.

Matti: Gwen, Dell please! Open the door. Gwen! Gwen!

Finally Gwen opened the door and Matti rushed into Dell's arms

Gwen: Mathilda?

Matti: Close the door! Close the door!

Gwen shut the door and locked it as she approached Matti, crying in Dell's arms.

Gwen: Matti what's wrong? What happened to you?

Matti: He's out there. He was following me and attacked me.

Gwen looked at the door with a serious look.

Gwen: Dell keep an eye on her, I'll be back.

Gwen opened the door with her staff and looked around. When she came outside, Babalou was no where to be seen, but investigated anyway.

We then cut to Matti sitting on a couch and Dell placing a blanket around her to cover her up.

Dell: There you go. It's okay, you're in good hands now.

Matti: Thank you Dell.

Gwen came back inside.

Dell: Did you see anything?

Gwen: I searched around, there was no one there.

Matti: But he was he tried to get with me.

Gwen: I'm sure he was, but I did find your staff.

Gwen handed Matti's staff.

Matti: Thanks. Oh Flit.

Flit came up to Matti and landed on her hands.

Matti: Flit I'm so sorry I lost you back there. It was so irresponsible of me.

Flit replied with a chirp, forgiving her.

Gwen: Oh Matti, are you okay?

Matti: I...I don't know.

Matti was shaking and covered her eyes crying as Gwen and Dell tried comforting and Flit hovered over her.

Dell: Shh, it's okay. You're safe now. No one's coming in here without going through us. Well mainly you Gwen.

Gwen: I'm calling Eda and Lilith.

Meanwhile.

The kids had just fallen asleep. Eda was just checking on them through the door. She smiled seeing them and closed it. She went back downstairs where she saw Lilith on the phone, but she sounded worried on the phone.

Lilith: How is she? Is she alright? Alright we're coming over.

Eda: What's wrong?

Lilith: It's Matti.

Now Eda formed a worried look on her face.

Later.

The two arrived at Gwen's house and entered. They saw Matti on the couch, still covered up and looking down shaking. Flit was sitting on her shoulder and Dell had just offered some tea.

Eda and Lilith: Matti!

The two sat down on each side next to each other. Eda held her hand and Lilith wrapped her arm around her.

Matti: Guys.

Lilith: Matti we came as soon as we heard. Are you okay?

Matti didn't look up to either one of them. She covered her eyes crying. Eda pulled her into a hug.

Eda: Come here. Talk to us when your ready.

Matti: I'm sorry it's just...he wouldn't leave me alone.

Eda: Who did this to you?

Matti: He...he kept chasing after me, pursuing me. He tried to...tried to...

Eda: Who did this?

Matti: He had that blank emotionless mask, he...he said he was part of the Terrible Trio.

Eda: Babalou...

Eda's face now had an enraged look and clenched her fist.

Eda: Why was he after you?

Matti: Well, earlier today I was coming to get the kids but I found him in woods, badly hurt and probably dying of his wounds.

Lilith: You healed him?

Matti: I didn't know who he was when he was unconscious. After I healed him, he ran off but later tried to thank me. He said he wanted me to go with him, be his wife. I said no but he wouldn't take no for an answer. I did whatever to avoid him but he kept coming and...and...

Matti couldn't get the last few words out as it was the worst part that happened to her.

Eda: I get it. You don't need to say anymore.

Matti: I was such an idiot. I should never have healed him back there.

Lilith: It's not your fault. You were only doing what was right. I can't believe him! How can he be okay with doing such an act?

Eda: First he and those goons took Chrissy and now this!?Now he's really crossed the line.

Matti: Eda?

Eda: I'll be back okay. You just stay here.

Lilith: Eda where are you going?

Eda: I'm going to find Babalou and have a talk with him.

Eda exited the house and flew off on her staff.

Gwen: Matti you should stay here for the night.

Matti: Thanks but I should head back to my house.

Gwen: You'd be safer here and we'd know you're okay.

Lilith: Come, you can be in my room.

Lilith took Matti's hand lead her upstairs to her old bedroom. Lilith's room like Eda's had some posters around her walls, but there was also a shelf of some old dolls of hers, a makeup station and around the mirror were some old photos in her younger years. Some of her and Eda, Matti, Seraphina or the whole group. Lilith went through her closet and found some old clothes for Matti to wear as well as some pajamas to change into.

Lilith: Here, why don't you go wash up and change into this. I'll be here waiting for you.

Matti: Okay.

Matti left the room and went to the bathroom. She removed her torn clothes and entered the shower. She stood there as the water just rained down on her body, trying to put her mind at ease and trying to wash away her thoughts. A little while later she came back to Lilith's room, now changed into her pajamas.

Lilith: How was that? Do they fit okay?

Matti: Feel a bit refreshed and they're comfortable.

Lilith: Oh your hair, it looks messed up.

Matti: Yeah he...he tore off a bit of it.

Lilith tried to keep her cool but Matti could hear the tension in her voice.

Lilith: That coward. He's such a monster for touching you and ruining your look. I hope Edalyn finds him and well, chews him out.

Lilith took a deep breathe and motioned Matti to sit on her make up station.

Lilith: Come here, let me fix you up.

Matti did so and looked at herself in the mirror and could see Lilith fixing her hair and Flit and Lilith's palisman sat together on the bed frame to watch. She undid her braiding and took some scissors and a hair brush, trying to fix and even out her hair. As she fixed her hair, Matti became less shaky started to feel a bit more comfortable. A small smile formed on her face as this was bringing back happier times when they kids. Matti would come over to Eda and Lilith's house for sleepover or play dates and how she would let Lilith work on her hair.

Matti: You used to do this a lot when we were kids. You were always great with my hair.

Lilith: Yeah, you said I was a pro stylist. I think my best work was when I was helping you for Grom, even though you said you didn't want to go.

Matti: You kind a persuaded me to saying it wouldn't be as fun without me.

Lilith: You still had fun didn't you? You got to dance with a special someone. Okay I think we're done. Have a look.

Matti looked at the mirror and her hair was fixed up, it was slightly shorter. Wasn't super short, but wasn't as long as her old hair was and tied back into a French braid.

Lilith: What do you think?

Matti: Good as new.

Matti hugged Lilith tight.

Matti: Thanks for being here Lily. You're the big sister I always turn too.

Lilith: Oh of course Matti. You know I'm always here whenever you need me.

Meanwhile.

We cut to Eda flying around, looking for Babalou. She was outraged of what Babalou did to Matti. Whenever it came to someone hurting someone she loves, she never lets that person get away with it. Whether it was Luz, Christa, King, Archimedes, Lilith or Matti. What Babalou did to Matti was disgusting and Eda searched all over for him and was going to unleash her rage onto him.

Eda: I know you're hiding out here Babalou! Quit hiding already!

Eda flew over some trees where Babalou saw her. After Matti went into the house, he's been hiding in the darkness from her.

Babalou: That Owl Lady is really livid. I don't think I'm ready to deal with her just yet, definitely not with that new power of hers.

Babalou vanished back into the darkness of the woods and continued to hide.

Later

Eda returned to the house. She made her way to Lilith's room and saw her and Matti playing chess.

Lilith: Did you find him?

Eda: No. He knows what he did and is hiding. He's such a coward.

Matti: ( sighs) It's fine Eda. You did your best.

Eda: No it's not fine Matti. He tried to rape you and that's not okay! To me this is worse than what Thomas did to me. I'm not letting him get away with it, we will find him.

Eda approached her and placed her hands on Matti's shoulders.

Eda: How are you now?

Matti: Okay, Lily has been taking care of me. I'm going to stay for the night.

Eda: I think you should.

Lilith: I'll stay with her, you can head back home. The kids will worry if we're both gone.

Eda: Alright.

Eda and Lilith then gives Matti a long and comforting hug.

Eda: Everything will be okay Matti. We'll get through this and we won't let him get to you again. We love you. I'll be back in the morning.

Matti: I know. Thank you Eda, Lily. I love you both as well.

Eda lets go and leaves the house. After a long day Matti was starting to get sleepy.

Lilith: You're looking tired. Come on time for bed. You can share my bed.

Matti: You sure it's okay. I can sleep on the floor or the couch downstairs.

Lilith: It's fine really. Come on. It'll be like a sleepover.

Matti got into the bed with Lilith as she turned off the lights and their palisman also nuzzled together ready to sleep.

Matti: You know, it is almost like one our old sleepovers.

Lilith: Remember when Eda told that scary story of the hash slinging slasher and you got scared came to me to protect you from it.

Matti: Pfft, yeah. Wait what about the time we tried to see who'd stay up the longest and loser would have to do our homework. I mean I lost easily. But Eda won right?

Lilith: No way, it was me.

Matti: She told me you fell asleep before she did.

Lilith: Well she's lying.

The two laughed for a moment and Matti yawned as she nuzzled up to Lilith who wrapped her arm around her.

Matti: Good night Lily.

Lilith: Good night Matti.

The two went to sleep, but as they did Babalou appeared staring at them from the window.

Babablou: Did you really have to tell on me Mathilda. But it doesn't change how I feel. I haven't given up on you Mathilda. I always get what I want.

Meanwhile

We cut to Bonesborough where we see Shadam and a group of Dorodoros and Coven Scouts chasing after a hooded figure.

Shadam: Stop where you are! You cannot run from us forever.

Shadam's eyes glowed and fired his eyebeam at them. The hooded figure formed a familiar violin and shot two magic waves at him. One to cancel Shadam's attack and the other at him. While he got hit, his robes were torn but didn't appear to be hurt due to his armor. The smoke cleared up and the hooded figure was gone.

Shadam: Which way did he go?

Scout: We couldn't see sir. The smoke was thick.

Shadam: Idiot! Don't just stand there, search the area and send out the choju.

Scout: Yes sir.

Shadam: We're so close. We can't lose them now.

We then cut to the hooded figure on top of a building and removing their hood, revealing to be Head Bard Witch leader of the Bats Raine Whispers. They sat down trying to catch their breathe and took out what looked like a wanted poster of them.

Raine: ( sighs) It seems Belos is growing restless by the day. No matter where I try to make a new hide out, witnesses keep ratting me out. Can't even make a new plan.

Then they heard a roar ( stock Mukatendar roar), a choju was coming.

Raine: Well, no time stage fright now. He want's a show. I'll give him one.
