Chapter 43: Love is in the Raine

After sleeping over at Gwen's house, Lilith and Eda this time accompanied by Luz, Christa and King escorted her to her house.

Matti's house was something you would see out of an old fairy tale or old school Disney film. It was a cozy two story cottage, surrounded by wild flowers, a well outside and a garden with vegetables, herbs to make potions or healing remedies and fruit tree. There was even a living scarecrow that stood there to take care of her crops and scare off birds. We Luz and Christa going around her house, placing what looked like blue sand on the ground.

Luz: Okay, all set.

Christa: Here it comes.

The two stepped back as a blue barrier formed around the house, then it vanished.

Luz: Wait did it work?

Eda: It did. Try going through.

Matti went through like nothing happened.

Matti: Are you sure it worked?

Eda: Watch.

Eda placed her hand where the barrier should be, but she couldn't get through. It was like an invisible wall.

Luz: Whoa! What the?

Luz placed her hands on the barrier and she couldn't get through eithers.

Luz: So this is what it's like to be a mime.

Eda: See?

Lilith: With this, only you can enter and no one else can unless you invite them in.

Luz: So it's like with vampires?

King: No that's just a myth. A stupid one too.

Matti: Thanks but you sure you don't need this for your home.

Eda: Nah, I got Hooty. He's the best security system I got. You need this more than I do.

Christa: Aunt Matti.

Matti looked over at Christa, Luz and King. The three looked at her with a sorry look and hugged her tight.

Luz: We're so sorry about what happened to you. That's so messed up.

Christa: We should have been there with you.

King: I promise the next time I see that jerk, I'm going to obliterate him with my voice.

Matti knelt down and hugged the three of them.

Matti: Oh I appreciate your concerns, but I'm okay don't worry. I would feel worse if something happened to you three. What happened was scary, but I'm okay and I'm just happy all of you are looking out for me.

King: But do call me when your in trouble.

Matti: ( picks up and kisses King) I will King. Thank you. You two better go or you'll be late for school.

Eda: She's right, get butts to school you two.

Luz: Okay, let's go Christa.

Christa formed her staff and the two got on.

Luz: Buy guys. We'll see you Aunt Matti.

Christa: Be safe.

The two flew off.

Eda: Anyway do you need anything else Matti?

Matti: I'm good Eda.

Lilith: We've supplied you with plenty of self defense brews and tools if he ever comes near you again.

Eda: And remember, if you see him and he gives you trouble or feel like you are, you call us and we'll be here asap.

Matti: I appreciate it guys.

Eda: We have time, we can escort you to your work. If you want us to take you we can.

Matti: If it's okay. Just today is fine.

Eda nodded as she and Lilith flew with Matti to her work.

Later that day.

Matti had finished work today and was walking home through Bonesborough. She remained calm and walked through public areas. But then she heard a noise. It was coming from an alley. Matti was on alert as her palisman Flit came to her.

Matti: Someone's in there. Go check but be careful.

Flit flew higher and into the alley to keep out of sight of anyone there. Matti got her bag out and took out a pepper brew and got her other hand ready to make her invisible. Babalou was probably in there, for her. Matti slowly backed away, until Flit came back to her chirping of what she found.

Matti: What? A friend?

Matti went into the alley and looked down. To her surprise. She found Raine, on the floor, back against the wall. They looked badly hurt, left arm was cut up as well as the chest with blood on their clothes.

Matti: Raine!

Flashback

We cut a long time ago at Hexside where we see young Matti with Lilith and Archimedes, waiting outside the principles office for Eda as she got in trouble again. She exited out but didn't look too worried.

Teen Eda: Sorry to keep you guys waiting.

Teen Lilith: So what happened?

Teen Eda: Eh, got detention after school again.

Teen Matti: I still can't believe you did that Eda.

Teen Archimedes: What did she do now?

Teen Lilith: She set feral ghosts loose in the girls locker room.

Teen Eda: And it was hilarious Archy. I hid a camera so you could see.

Teen Archimedes: ( blushes) Whoa! I'm not looking in the girls lockeroom.

Teen Eda: Come on, you know you want to.

Teen Archimedes: Eda I'm not that kind of person!

Teen Matti: You should be more careful Eda. It's like every other week you pull a school prank. I mean now it's detention, but what if next time you get expelled.

Teen Eda: Hey don't worry about me Matti. I ain't going no where. Come on, after I get out we can talk grudgby plans.

?: Excuse me, do you know where class B205 is?

Teen Matti: ( turns around) Oh, it's upper level on the left...( gasps)

Matti gasped because the person who was behind her was an old friend of hers.

Teen Raine: Hey Matti.

Teen Matti: Raine!

Matti jumped at Raine hugging them.

Teen Matti: I don't believe it! You transferred here?

Teen Raine: Yeah my parents wanted to move from the knee. It was too cold up there.

Teen Matti: You didn't write to me that you were moving.

Teen Raine: I could have, but I wanted to surprise you.

Teen Matti: And I loved it.

Teen Eda: Hey Matti, you going to introduce us to your friend?

Teen Matti: Oh, everyone this my friend Raine Whispers. We both used to live up at the knee and went to St Eperdern together. They've been my best friend since I was very young. Raine these are my new friends I made here, Eda and Lilith Clawthorne and Archimedes Blackwell.

Teen Raine: Hi, Matti told me about you guys in her letters she sent me. It's nice to meet you.

Teen Eda: Well welcome to Hexside Raine. Wait no, Raine Storm. That's good nickname for you.

Teen Raine: Ha, okay.

Teen Matti: This is great. I have both my besties together. Raine, you should hang with us.

Teen Raine: Oh I would, but I don't want to just drop in or just be some random person who shows up and...

Teen Eda: Hey, hey it's no biggie. Any friend of Matti is a friend of mine too. You can hang with us. Besides, we need a new player for our grudgby team. Come on, meet my friends.

Flashback ends.

Matti: Raine? Raine can you hear me?

Raine: ( grunts) M-Matti...

Shadam: You there! Witch!

Matti gasped hearing Shadam. She placed her fingers over her lips making a shush gesture and looked around. She placed an old blanket over them to hide. She turned over and saw Shadam with the group of Dorodoros, scouts and with them was the choju, Gyakuudo.

This one was a strange looking creature. It stood in a biped stance but choju was headless on the top, the back served as the front of the body as the arms and legs were placed for it and the tail was where the head was. The body was blue while red was on the underbelly and bottom neck, had row of spikes from the front all the way down to it's tail like neck. It's arms both had spikes sticking around them but it's left arm had three long sharp claws while it's right arm was a whip. The tail served as it's long neck and had pointed spikes all the way down resembling a centipede's legs. The head was serpent like with two horns on the head, a blue mane around it and yellow eyes. Matti approached Shadam so he wouldn't get close to Raine and to act innocent.

Matti: Is there a problem?

Shadam: First off, sigil check.

Matti: Oh right.

Matti showed her sigil to him to ensure she was not a wild witch. Shadam took her wrist and placed his hand over it as a small magic circle hovered over scanning.

Shadam: You're clear. But I also wanted to ask. We're chasing down rogue witch. I saw them run down here. You wouldn't happen to see anyone suspicious have you?

Matti: Uh...um...yes. Actually yes I saw someone run down ( points to the left) that way. If you hurry you might catch them.

Shadam: Let's go. Move it!

Shadam and his group ran to where Matti pointed as Gyukuudo ran with them roaring ( stock Mukakendar roar). Once they were gone, Matti went back and uncovered Raine.

Raine: Ma-Matti...

Matti: Shh, don't talk. It's okay they're gone. Raine just hold on. Hold on...

Raines vision however began to fade and passed out.

Meanwhile at Emperor Belos's castle.

Hipporit: The Emperor is very displeased of Babalou's betrayal. He's not just breathing down my neck but your's too Selene. Wasn't he your responisbility?

Selene: This is unexcusable of me. After I told Babalou of the fate of Karasniper, he has been acting up lately. I should have watched him better. But I will find him, kill him and recover the treasure he stole. You can tell him I give my word.

Hipporit: You better. Take some scouts and start searching.

Selene: Yes sir.

Selene leaves and makes her way out of the castle until she saw Shadam entering.

Selene: Oh well look who's back. Did you find Whispers?

Shadam: No. I had them. I was so close but lost them.

Selene: You still can't see them?

Shadam: They're using cloaking magic again. I have to call off the search now and look again tomorrow. The Day of Unity is soon and we still don't have all the Coven Heads. If we fail this, Emperor Belos will have our heads.

Selene: We?

Shadam: This is all our assignment.

Selene: Well I have to go out find and kill a traitor.

Shadam: Yes, one that you hired in the first place.

Selene: Don't go there Shadam. I'll clear my mistake and Babalou will pay for what he did.

Shadam: Well be on a look out for Raine. Catch them the moment you see them.

Selene: Oh believe me. I will

Later.

Raine regained concioussness. They're eyes fluttered and saw they weren't outside any more. They looked around and saw they were in someone's house. It was nice living room, there were a few chairs around, a coffee table in the center with some fruit, a fireplace, some framed pictures and shelf with some fine china. They were on the couch and noticed their shirt was off and body was heavily bandaged.

Raine: Where am I?

Matti: My home.

Raine looked over and saw Matti bringing in a tray with some food and drinks.

Raine: Matti...

Raine sat up but winced from the pain. Matti approached them and gently placed them back to lay down.

Matti: Don't get up, stay down. You'll open up your wounds.

Raine: You...you healed me?

Matti: Of course I did. You were badly hurt, you were losing so much blood and...what happened to you?

Raine: My last escape ended rough. Shadam had Mikela make another choju and this one I really struggled to take down.

Matti: You're lucky I got off work early and I was there. Here you must be hungry.

Matti placed the tray of food on the table as Raine began eating and she sat next to them..

Raine: I haven't eaten or slept in two days. Shadam has been really hot on my tail after he found me. Oh but don't worry. He's not going to find me. ( takes out cloaking glyph) As long as I hold on to the cloaking glyph, he'll never locate me.

Matti: Raine...

Raine: Yeah.

Raine looked over at Matti but saw she was looking at him but rather down, but did notice her hands clenching onto her legs looking a bit tense.

Matti: Why...

Raine: Huh?

Matti looked over at them with a serious and worried look on her face and yelled at them.

Matti: Why didn't you tell me about your rebellion?! Are you really plotting to stop Emperor Belos?! You know what he's like! How long have you been doing this?! Why wasn't I ever told about it?! Do you...

Matti clamed down as she looked down.

Matti: Do you know how worried I was when you vanished.

Raine: Matti...( places hands on her shoulders). I'm sorry I worried you. This was something I had to do because it seemed off to me why Belos wanted to have every in a coven before the Day of Unity, he's killing witches who won't follow him and if I worked to be head witch I would have found more information. I didn't want any of my close friends involved because...well I had no right to get any of you involved.

Matti: You got Eda to join.

Raine: She only joined because she caught me in my act and insisted to join. I mean you know how she is.

Matti: Yeah, I know.

Raine: And I wouldn't want you getting hurt. If anything happened to you, I wouldn't forgive myself.

Matti: I get it, it's just...

Matti gently hugged them as they hugged her back.

Matti: I missed you so much.

Raine: I know. I missed you too.

Matti: Sorry I yelled.

Raine: No it's fine. So how is Eda and everyone?

Matti: Oh, well they're doing alright. I mean they have been having some trouble with the Emperor's Coven lately but they keep pulling through. And I check up on her now and then and I try to help her kids whatever way I can.

Raine: Right, Eda has kids?

Matti: Kind of. King is her son now, but she also has Luz she's a human who's learning magic but also trying to find a way back to her world and then there's Christa, she was found with amnesia, but she possess great power and we're trying to help her find her home as well. They're so sweet and are like my nieces and nephew.

Raine: Well, I'd like to meet them one of these days. And how's Archimedes and Lilith?

Matti: Archy's doing good. He and Eda are still together, he helped Lilith get a job at the museum, oh recently she and Seraphina got back together.

Raine: Did they really. They were always happy together.. Well what about you?

Matti's eyes widened. Is she really supposed to tell them about what happened last night. How is she supposed to tell them about her sexual harassment from Babalou.

Matti: I...I...

Raine: Hm?

Matti looks at Raine with a smile on her face.

Matti: I've been good. Just been working extra hours at the hospital and I'm still doing volunteers work at the orphanage.

Raine: Ha, that's good. Thanks for having me Matti, I'll get going.

Matti: No, stay. You're exhausted and not fully healed.

Raine: Oh, but I don't want to be burden to you.

Matti: Nonsense. Stay as long as you want. You'll be safe here and you can think of your next move properly.

Raine: ( sighs) Well I haven't had the time to make a plan. Thank you so much Matti.

Matti: Of course. It'll be nice having someone here.

A few days has passed as Raine has been hiding out in Matti's house. She has not told anyone about her hiding them. Although she wanted to tell Eda, she felt it wasn't time just yet as she thought it might bring attention or she doesn't want to see them in bad shape. While she was gone at work, Raine was trying to think of a new plan. When Matti would get back she would further check on their wounds and condition, but the two have been making up lost time and talking.

Matti was in the kitchen getting drinks for her and Raine. As she did she heard them playing the violin. She entered and saw them playing. She smiled as she always loved hearing their music.

Matti: You're as skilled as ever.

Raine: Thank you. I'm able to at least move my arms okay.

Matti: That's good. I always loved your music.

Raine: Do you still play?

Matti: Oh no. I mean you know. I can't really.

Raine: You don't have to make magic.

Raine formed a spell circle and made an ocarina for her.

Raine: Come on, just like old times.

Matti: Let's see if I still remember.

Matti licked her lips and blew into the ocarina. She began playing a soft song and then Raine started to play. The song sounded like a song out of the Legend of Zelda, more specifically Ballad of the Goddess. The song started off slow and soothing, but soon became faster and epic. Raine's magic was levitating some of the stuff in the living room, including the couch they were sitting on and Matti's hair was flowing up. Soon the song came to an end and everything settled back down.

Raine: Seems you still got it.

Matti: I think a missed a note or two right there.

Raine: No way, you did great.

Matti: Oh stop you.

Matti took her cup and was about to drink. But the taste wasn't very good.

Matti: Bleh, bitter. I think the juice went bad.

Raine: Let me see that.

Raine took her cup and began to blow into it. Well more of a whistling blow.

Raine: Here. Should be better.

Raine gave her cup back and drank it.

Matti: Hmm, much better. Tastes so fresh. So glad you can do that trick.

Raine blew into their drink and took a sip.

Raine: Yeah, really can be useful.

Matti: I remember when you first did this back when...well you still remember Grom.

Raine: Oh yeah, I still do.

Flashback

It was Hexside's annual Grom night. After Grom had been defeated once again, students went with their dates to dance. Eda asked Archimedes to dance with her and Lilith was Seraphina. Matti however was sitting at one of the tables drinking blood punch. She was wearing a green dress, with high heels and her hair was a twisted half up style. She however didn't look excited to be here. As she sat there, she's approached by Raine who was wearing a blue suit.

Teen Raine: Mind if I sit here?

Teen Matti: Oh, hi Raine, sure you can.

Teen Raine: Wow, you look uh...you look beutiful with the dress and hairstyle.

Teen Matti: ( blushes) Oh, thank you. Uh Lily did my hair actually. You look very handsome.

Teen Raine: ( blushes and looks away) Thank you. Are you okay? You look down.

Teen Matti: I just sitting here, with my punch.

Matti takes a sip but gags in disgust.

Teen Matti: Ugh, they used that cheap off brand junk and it's so sour.

Teen Raine: What a see a trick?

Teen Matti: Ok.

Raine took her cup and blew into it with a whistle and gave it back to her.

Teen Raine: Here.

Matti just looked at it.

Teen Raine: Don't worry, I didn't spit in it. Try it.

Matti took a sip and her eyes widened of how tasty it was.

Teen Matti: Hmm, it's much sweeter now. How did you do that?

Teen Raine: It's a little trick I taught myself. Changing the chemistry with soundwaves.

Teen Matti: That so cool Raine.

Teen Raine: Thank you. See, Bard magic can be cool yet some people don't give it a chance.

Teen Matti: Who's says it's not cool. We think it's cool.

Teen Raine: Eh, just those jerks.

Teen Matti: (frowns) Oh yeah. They're the worst.

Teen Raine: Are you okay. You look really bummed out.

Teen Matti: ( groans) I was excited to come here. I spent months looking for the perfect dress, for a while I dated that guy in my track only to find out he only went out with me just so he could take advantage of my knowledge to get a good grade. Eda and Lilith took care of him sure, but now I'm left alone and didn't want to come anymore. But I already did too much preparation and Eda and Lily insisted me to come just so we can spend time together, but they're busy dancing with the the others.

Teen Raine Oh, that sucks. But the nerve that jerk. I mean he never liked you for you? He is the biggest idiot that he never truly admired dating the most prettiest, smartest and kindest witch in the whole demon realm.

Raine however realized they said too much and blushed. They looked over and saw Matti blushing surprised of what they said.

Teen Raine: I'm sorry was that too much?

Teen Matti: Not at all. It's really sweet of what you said.

Matti placed her hand on the table and onto Raine's hand. The two realized they were holding hands and pulled away and looked away.

Teen Raine: Um Matti?

Teen Matti: Yes Raine?

Teen Raine: I don't want you to have a bad time and...well...I was wondering. Would you uh...would you...uh come say it...would like to...

Teen Matti: Yes I would like to dance. Come on.

Matti got up enthusiastically and took Raine's hands and pulled them to the dance floor. Raine looked really nervous as they held onto each other dancing.

Teen Matti: Don't be nervous. Just keep your eyes on me.

Raine did as she did as they both looked each other in the eyes and just danced. But then she accidentally stepped onto their foot.

Teen Raine: Ow!

Teen Matti: Oh sorry! Ugh, I'm so stupid.

Teen Raine: Hey it's okay. I'll live. You're doing pretty good so far.

Teen Matti: So are you and you don't normally dance.

Teen Raine: Yeah, I mean I don't normally like to and you know me and stage fright, but this is actually nice. I'm glad to atleast do it with you.

Matti saw Lilith dancing with Seraphina, the former saw her dancing and smiled at her. Matti looked back at Raine and hugged them tight. Rained hugged her back and the two stayed that way for minute holding each other and danced.

Teen Matti: Thank you Raine, for cheering me up.

Teen Raine: Of course Matti. Anytime.

Flashback ends.

Raine: I'm surprised you still remember that night.

Matti: Of course I would. Anything with you I would always cherish.

Matti placed her hand down and landed on theirs. The two looked at each other, but continued to hold hands.

Matti: Let me turn on the crystal ball.

She turned on the crystal ball as the two watched whatever was on. Matti smiled and rested her head onto their shoulder. Raine smiled and held her close, rubbing her head layed down as she rested down with them.

Next day.

Matti: Raine I'm home.

Matti entered inside but saw Raine wasn't on the couch.

Matti: Raine?

Matti wondered around the living room looking for them. Then she stumbled upon her kitchen and saw food on the table. Some salad, bread and a pasta dish and Raine waiting for her.

Raine: Welcome home.

Matti: Raine did you...did you do this?

Raine: You have been a great host to me that I've been wanting to do something for you.

Matti: Aw Raine you didn't have to do this for me.

Raine: Of course I wanted to. Come sit down.

Raine pulled out a chair for her to sit down and poured her drink for her. It was and iced tea drink. They sat at the opposite end and both served themselves some salad and pasta.

Matti: Mmmm, this is really good. Salad is fresh and pasta is very good, especially the sauce.

Raine: Thank you. I hope you don't mind I did use some vegetables from the garden.

Matti: It's okay. Why do you think I have one. Saves money on some groceries.

Raine: Ha, right. So how was work?

Matti: Eh, same as usual. Someone gets hurt. I'm called in to heal that person. But I try to ensure they make a full recovery. What about you?

Raine: Well before making dinner I have been planning my next move. I'm still stumped. I'm short on allies is the problem.

Matti: Well, is there anyway I can help?

Raine: Oh no Matti, this isn't for you.

Matti: But I don't feel right leaving you all alone to do this. I wish I could help more.

Raine: ( takes her hand) Matti, you've done so much for me. You've saved and healed me. You've been hiding and protecting me. That's more than I can ask. I would feel horrible if you got hurt because of me.

Matti: He, Eda taught me some self defense.

Raine: Yeah, I remember how she helped us all to be brave. But Matti seriously you're special to me.

Matti: Aw Raine.

Raine: No really. Remember during one of our grudgby matches in school, I got hurt by a cheating player and ended up breaking my leg. You could have kept playing, but you immedietly came to me to heal me. Or there was the time I was behind my studies because of my recidal but you helped me catch up. You've been my closest friend since we were kids. When you moved away I was devestated. I was sad that I wouldn't have another friend like you.

Matti: Until you moved over here.

Raine: Yeah, I'm so glad I got to be with you again. You're really smart and resourceful. You think about others, your kind and beautiful. I...I wished I said all this to you before.

Matti: ( gasps) Raine...

Raine: Ah, wait was that too much? Ugh, I did it again.

Matti got up and approached them.

Matti: Raine I...I can't keep this quiet anymore. All my life, you've been my best friend. When you moved to Bonesborough I was so happy to have you back. No, overjoyed. When we started hanging out again, I've been...I've been having special feelings about you.

Raine: Y-Yeah?

Matti: I mean there's so much to like about you. You're smart, selfless, brave, cool and...okay well a bit timid at times but I think it's cute. You're the coolest witch I've met and I'm so glad to have you as part of my life. I...Raine I I've always...I can't do this. Sorry I'm acting stupid.

Raine: ( takes her hand) No you're not. Matti, I should have said this long time ago, but I've always loved you.

Matti's eyes sparkled and hugged them. She looked at them in the eyes with a smile.

Matti: And I've always loved you.

The two closed in they shared their first kiss. After sometime they stopped and looked at each other blushing.

Raine: Did we just do that?

Matti: Yeah, I can't believe we did. Was it okay or...

Raine: It...was actually great.

Raine pulled her in and kissed her on the cheek. Matti laughed as she playfully pushed them off her and made her way out of the kitchen. Raine caught up with her and wrapped their arms around her waist. They twirled her around until they both fell onto the couch. Raine held Matti close to them as she held onto their hands and nuzzled up to them.

Raine: You still haven't finished your meal.

Matti: We'll get back. Can I just snuggle you for a minute?

Raine: Do it as much as you like.

Later that night.

Raine was about to hit the hay and sleep on her couch again. However he heard footsteps coming down and saw Matti wearing a dark blue night gown. She was looking at them with a smile on her face.

Matti: What are you doing?

Raine: I was about go to bed.

Matti: Not here your not. Come on.

Matti took Raine's hand and lead them upstairs.

Raine: Wait really? You're okay with it.

Matti: Of course. It's just you and me come on.

They soon made it to her room and Matti got onto her bed. Raine joined in with her and lunged at her. They pulled her close to her and started tickling her on her arms, legs and belly.

Matti: Hahahaha! Stop.

Raine: You have such a beautiful laugh and voice.

Matti responded with a kiss on the cheek.

Matti: You're so cute.

Raine: And you're so beautiful.

Matti smiled and the two started kissing. Raine made their way kissing her neck, making her moan. They removed their shirt as Matti removed her night gown now in her bra and panties.

Matti: Hold on.

Matti undid her bra and slid it off ( angle shot from the back). Raine gently placed her on her back and placed their hand on her belly started rubbing it. They knelt down and started kissing her belly. Matti giggled as it tickled her. Raine went up and placed a trail of kisses on her body. They went up to her chest, to her neck and finally her cheek and lips.

Raine: Someone is very sensitive.

Matti: It's my first time.

Matti turned Raine onto their back as she rubbed her hands on their chest. She kissed their chest and rested her head on them.

Matti: I'm so happy to have you here.

Raine: Yeah, so am I.

Later.

Matti woke up in the middle of the night. She looked beside her on her bed and saw Raine was gone.

Matti: Raine? Where did you go?

Then she gasped when she heard something hit her window. She got up, with the blanket covering her body. She slowly approached the window and it was pitch black outside. She couldn't see anything and formed a light on her hand. She shined at the window and Babalou's face was there. Matti gasped but then his arm broke through window glass and grabbed her from the back of her head. Matti screamed as he pushed her face against the window. Matti screamed and struggled to break free but he kept pushing her face into the glass.

Matti: Help! Somebody help! Leave me alone please!

Matti kept screaming as the glass started to crack and finally it shattered as her face was cut up and Babalou looking at her.

Raine: Matti! Matti!

Matti woke up as it was all a nightmare. Raine was right beside her in her bed as she held the blankets covering the front of her body and panting hard. She looked terrifed as Raine looked worried for her.

Raine: Matti?

Matti: Oh Raine I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to wake you up.

Raine: It's fine. Are you okay? You were screaming in your sleep. You were yelling " Don't touch me" or " Leave me alone."

Matti: Did you really hear that?

Raine: Matti, who were you reffering too?

Matti looked away with a scared look.

Matti: It's no one.

Raine: Matti please talk to me. Is there something your not telling me?

Matti shook as she covered her eyes crying.

Matti: ( sniffs) Raine... almost a week ago. I was attacked by Babalou of the Terrible Trio.

Raine: What?

Matti: After I healed him without knowing who he was, he followed me around all day and wanted me to marry him. I said no and he persued me. He attacked me and...and...he came at me! He grabbed hold of me! He touched me! He...

Raine held Matti close.

Raine: Shh, you don't have to say anymore. I'm so sorry. Why didn't you tell me?

Matti: I guess I didn't want you to worry. You already have enough on your plate.

Raine: The saftey of my friends and loved ones always comes first. But I'm sure it was also hard for you to talk about it.

Matti hugged Raine tight.

Matti: The others have been making sure I'm okay. But having you here has been helping me. I feel so safe when I'm with you.

Raine: You should be. ( places hand on her cheek) I'm so sorry that happened to you. But I'm here now. If he ever comes near you again or anyone tries to hurt you. I won't let that happen. I promise.

Raine kissed her as the two layed back down.

Raine: Go back to sleep.

Matti: Okay, thank you Raine.

Matti closed her eyes nuzzled up to Raine's chest. They smiled at her and stroked her hair, but then formed a serious look. They were outraged that someone would attempt to rape her. They were serious when they said that he would be there to protect her.

Next morning. Raine was downstairs trying to make new plans as Matti came downstairs and hugged them from behind.

Matti: Good morning love.

Raine: Good morning to you too.

Matti: Whatcha doing?

Raine: Tryin to think of a new plan, again. Still not sure how without some help.

Matti: Raine, maybe it's time I'd tell the others you were here. I know they can help. Especially Eda.

But then Matti frowned upon realizing something.

Matti: Raine, I'm scared telling Eda about us.

Raine: Is it because we used to date?

Matti replies with a nod.

Matti: What if she thinks I'm a two timer for dating her ex or us together would make her uncomfortable.

Raine: I'm sure she would understand.

Matti: I'm just not sure.

Raine: It'll be okay. Trust me.

Matti: ( sighs) Okay. I gotta go. I'll be back in the afternoon.

Matti kisses Raine on the cheek and leaves. She got onto her staff and flew off. As she flew she still kept on thinking on whether to tell Eda about her and Raine. She took out a raven phone and called Lilith.

Matti: Hey Lily. I'm okay really. Are you available for lunch today?

Later that day.

Matti was on her lunch and was close to the tea shop. She saw Lilith waiting for her outside.

Matti: Lilith.

Lilith: Matti.

Lilith went up and hugged her.

Matti: Thank's so much for meeting me.

Lilith: Of course I would. Come, let's get our table.

The two entered and sat down.

Lilith: So Matti, everything's okay with you right now? You haven't see Babalou again.

Matti: No and I'd rather not?

Lilith: Right, Eda is still searching around for him. She said she wouldn't rest until she got her claws on her.

Matti: Well there is actually a reason why I called you here.

Lilith: What is it?

Matti: Earlier this week, I uh...I found someone.

Lilith: Found someone, what do you mean? You met an old friend?

Matti: Yeah it's...

Matti motioned Lilith to come closer to her.

Matti: ( whispers) It's Raine.

Lilith's eyes widened.

Lilith: ( whispers) Raine Whispers, the new Head Bard on the run?

Matti: ( whispers) Yes.

Lilith: ( whispers) Where are they?

Matti: ( whispers) I'm hiding them at my place.

Lilith: What?

Matti: I found them hurt. I had to help them. Don't worry no one knows where they're at.

Lilith: How are they?

Matti: They're fine. I've healed them up but they are kinda stuck without a plan. I thought it was time I atleast told you guys.

Lilith: I'm glad you did. We're all thrilled to see them again.

Matti: I know but, I feel Eda will be uncomfortable with what's happening between us.

Lilith: What is happening?

Matti: Well, we've been catching up, some things were said and...well...

Matti looked away blushing as Lilith figured it out.

Lilith: You mean you two...( squeals and takes her hand) I'm so happy for you!

Matti: Thank you. I'm glad you understand. But I feel Eda won't.

Lilith: Trust me she'll be fine. She's crazy over Archimedes.

Matti: Like how you're all over Seraphina.

Lilith: Oh you. Do you plan to tell the others?

Matti: Yeah, just nervous.

Lilith: It'll be fine. Just stop by the house when your off work.

Matti: Okay I will.

Later.

Matti flew to the Owl House and is greeted by Hooty.

Hooty: Matti! Oh I missed you so much! Hoot!

Hooty wrapped himself around Matti hugging her.

Matti: ( scratching his head) Hello Hooty. I missed you as well. Are the others here?

Hooty: Oh yeah, actually Archy's here too. I'll let you in hold on!

Inside the house.

Archimedes: No way how can you think Dwan and Sam aren't good for each other?

Eda: Well I mean think about it, Sam is hilarious but Dwan is kinda a control freak and she kinda manipulated both Sam and Josh into fighting each other.

Archimedes: Well yeah, but Josh found love later and Dwan and Sam made things up.

Luz: What are you guys talking about?

Eda: Oh we're just talking about the Office Demon realm edition and some of the romantic subplots in the show.

Archimedes: It's the best show ever.

Luz: Huh, why do I feel like I have something like that back home?

Hooty opens the door and Matti enters.

Matti: Hey guys.

Luz and Christa: Hi Matti.

King: Matti's in the house!

Archimedes: Matti, I'm so glad to see you. You um...uh I heard and are you...

Matti: ( hugs him) It's fine Archy don't worry.

Eda: Hey Matti, Lily said you were stopping by.

Matti: Actually there is a good reason. Guys, I have someone at my place you should see.

Later.

Raine was still planning until he heard the door open and Eda rushing in.

Eda: Raine!

Raine: Eda?

Eda saw them and hugged them tight.

Eda: You're okay. Where the heck have you been? We completely lost contact of you for weeks, you disappeared on us and never called! Do you have any idea how worried I was?!

Raine: I'm sorry for worrying you. I've been dealing with so much lately. Shadam has been onto me and I was hurt until Matti found me.

Archimedes: Well we're just glad you're okay. Missed you a lot Band Geek.

Raine: It's nice to see you too Egghead.

Eda: Oh Luz, Chrissy meet Raine.

Luz: Wow it's actually them.

Raine: So you're the famous human and mysterious witch duo. Eda and Matti have been bragging to me about you two. I'm Raine, it's nice to finally meet you.

Luz: Oh my gosh, I can't believe I'm actually meeting you in person.

Christa: I know, we've heard about all your adventures. You fought with Eda and Archy against the Legion of Five.

Luz: You guys played a magic song and you're a secret spy! ( gasps) Have you ever killed a man?

Eda: Alright you two quite fangirling over them. They can tell you all about it later. But Matti, how come you didn't tell me about this until now.

Raine: She was just trying to keep me hidden.

Matti: And I just didn't want you to see them in bad shape.

Eda: I get it. But I'm glad you're okay. I'm sure Matti has been taking good care of you. We missed you a lot Raine Storm.

Raine: I missed you as well.

Matti: Eda, there's one more thing I haven't said yet, about us.

Eda: Yeah? What's that?

Matti looked at Raine.

Raine: You can tell her.

Matti: As I was taking care of Raine, we've been catching up and well...somethings were shared and well...they've been my best friend for years and well...they're special to me and I've always loved them and last night we...we finally told each other how we feel.

Eda: Oh whoa. You mean to tell me you and Raine are dating?

Luz and Christa both gasped, eyes were sparkling and looked over at Matti.

Matti: If you're uncomfortable with this I understand.

Eda: Why would I be uncomfortable?

Matti: Because you two used to date.

Eda: Yeah, like almost twenty years ago. Oh, Matti you said you've always loved Raine. Did I steal them from you?

Matti: No, but I was mildly uncomfortable with it.

Eda: How come you never said anything?

Matti: Because I wanted you to be happy. Back then your curse was new, most of us split up and well you and Raine were the only ones I still saw. You guys were bonding and well I was so shy back then and I knew I was never going to confess how I felt to them. So I gave up my crush for you and set you two up that date night you got together.

Eda: Matti. ( places hands on shoulder) You didn't have to.

Matti: I just wanted you to be happy. To help you get through your tough times while I kept searching for a cure for the curse, which to this day I still can't find.

Eda: Hey, look at me. Do you seriously love Raine?

Matti replies with a nod.

Eda: Then what do you need my approval for? Go for it.

Matti: You're okay with it?

Eda: I'm more than okay. I'm proud for you two. Look we shared our time together. We had some moments but it just didn't work out in the end. And I'm happy now. I have my friends back, I have some new ones and I'm finally with Archy. It's okay if you can't cure me. I've been used to it for years.

Matti: But Lily is new to it.

Lilith: I've been starting to get used to it. It's manageable. We want you to be happy Matti.

Eda: So stop sacrificing your happiness for us. I don't want us to hold you back in your life. We want you to live it and live a happy one. Can you do that?

Matti: ( hugs Eda) Thank you Eda.

Eda: And Raine Storm, you better treat Matti good. Only select few are worthy having her.

Raine: Ha, I will.

Matti went over to Raine as the two hugged.

Christa: Our Aunt Matti's finally fallen in love.

Luz: I told you that you would find love. I ship it so much.

King: What is it with you two interested in everyone's love life?

However we cut outside and we see Babalou, who watched the whole scene with his binoculars. He gripped onto them and crushed it with his hands.

Babalou: That bard witch. I saw her first! If anyone is going to have her it's me! But we'll settle this soon, be ready for me Raine.

Author's Note: That's it for this chapter. Finally brought Raine back after so long. So now you know why I re edited a few chapters because the only way for this relationship to work was that Matti had to have known Raine for a while. I didn't want to leave them alone since I paired Eda with someone else and thought Matti was the only other person to be with them. Again this was all planned before certain episodes aired or some characters debuted and I don't regret my decisions, I do apologize this goes against you Raeda fans out there because believe me I do love those two together almost as much as Lumity.
